Hello. It's not related to cold storage this time, but a technical problem that happened unnoticed. Will be fixed in a couple of minutes, sorry.
UPDATE: Fixed, you can request your payment again.
It's really weird how computers have "ghosts" like this that just cause little breaks in the system

Large-scale miners may want to try advanced workers table by using this link: https://deepbit.net/accBeta-testers can enable it at the advanced settings page. Note that shown hashrate is calculated for all the time since last worker reset, including all your possible pauses.

Good. Also, I noticed that the bug with 10% lower reported hashrate dismissed (hopefully forever) on Jan 4th. Just curious, did you find the cause?

Hmmm, transfered my btc's to wallet, more than 20 min passed - still not received. Was your bitcoin client online and with up-to-date blockchain at the moment of sending ? If not, you can just check your payments history at the pool website to find out this TX hash and look for it in the current network queue at http://bitcoincharts.com/bitcoinUsually payment TXes are confirmed at the next block found by the pool, but in worst case delays up to a few hours are possible. Nothing to worry about.

Hi, could you add a MH/s field to the failure detection? So I can detect when/if my miner goes wazoo without going offline. This would cause problems to some users because of possible false positives. That's the reason why currently e-mail notification checks getworks, not shares. But I'll think about this.

What are the consequences of having a "Poolhopping detected" message for my account stats ? I can't find this message documented anywhere.

If you're not excited by the idea of being an early adopter 'now', then you should come back in three or four years and either tell us "Told you it'd never work!" or join what should, by then, be a much more stable and easier-to-use system. - GA

I was thinking of coming back to deepbit for several reasons. One of the largest is the BIP 16/17 issue of being untested. I support Tycho in his efforts to maintain the original protocol.
The second is that I recently discovered the pool I am with is selling its mining power and isn't really mining its own blocks. I did not sign up for that and someone said Deepbit is doing the same thing but I do not believe that is the case. Can you please confirm that deepbit is not selling any of its hashing power?

No, we are not selling any hashing power. Hashes of all our mined blocks are published on the stats page and can be analyzed by anyone to check this. There are many reasons not to pull any tricks with "selling mining power", including those: 1) relaying shares to some other place greatly reduces stability. 2) selling small part of hashing power is meaningless, but selling most power is impossible since very few private projects can sustain it (if any) 3) (I forgot the 3rd one, but it has something to do with responsibility) As for the case with your other pool, I think that pure PPS pool can do anything he wants with those shares unless you don't like some specific usage.

Thanks Tycho this is what I wanted to know. This other person claimed you were and I thought it was BS. As far as them doing what they want with hashing power because its PPS I just think it is misleading to call yourself a pool if you are really acting as proxy. I would like to know my shares are going towards x purpose and in this case it is preserving the current protocol.

There are many reasons not to pull any tricks with "selling mining power"
So, what is the purpose of selling hash power to someone else? I had never heard or conceived of such a thing until I looked at Goat's pool thread yesterday where he states he can pay more per share than the what is earned from solving blocks by reselling the hash's. Why is that? And how can that work? And what are these third parties doing with these hash's/hash power that they are paying more than they are worth? Very disturbing, Sam

So, what is the purpose of selling hash power to someone else? Possible reasons: 1) Direct this mining power to some pool with lower fees and just take the difference without supporting own servers. 2) Sell it to some other reseller, paying more than 0% PPS. 3) Sell it directly as mining contracts. This may sound like a kind of gambling, but some persons may think that in future, with ongoing difficulty or USD/BTC rate adjustments they can gain more than the amount paid for given hashrate. Sometimes this is profitable.

Very disturbing, Sam You hit the nail on the head my friend. I am concerned about where sold hashing power may go. Who is to say someone doesn't buy the hashing power to mount a 51% attack or something like that. Edit: Not that I think Goat would have anything to do with such an attack.
