I
The longer the blocks, the greater the effect on daily luck.

If you want to compare pool luck between different periods, you need to compare round length for a set number of rounds, not per day. Compare one sequence of 50 rounds with another.

Taking a daily average will make daily luck seem, on average, bad.
Eh? No it wont.

Oh yes it will!

Run a few sample calcs if you want. I did while I was setting up miner's insurance, and it's why I average over rounds, not days. At 30*D per day hashrate the calculated average will be 3.5% longer than it should be. I haven't gotten around to a proper proof yet, but I understand why.

My post wasn't really aimed at you but to let miner's know that "24hr luck" will make them think the pool's luck is worse than it is.

Oh, alright then. I'll stop teasing kano Wink

You shouldn't use a 24 hour mean round length because if you do a harmonic mean has to be used to find an overall mean. If you don't do that, round lengths appear longer since you're looking at an average of rates (shares per round per day). Averaging over the same number of blocks avoid this.

Buy insurance then and you wont have to worry about luck as much.

When DeepBit has a long period of bad luck, you're covered to whatever extent you want.

OK yes I see my mistake Smiley
I'm comparing apples and oranges ...
A day in time cant be compared when deciding on the average block 'luck' since bad luck blocks will of course run longer and thus affect a "daily" average more that short good luck blocks.

UPDATE:

Some features were moved from Beta stage to Public:
  • Inline SVG graphics. Currently available at the account page for your hashrate history over previous 24 hours and on the payments page for your cumulative payments history. Be careful, this trick is not supported in Internet Explorer 6 and some older browsers.
  • Advanced workers table. Looks better if you have many workers. Average hashrate is shown for the entire timespan from the last worker reset, including any downtime or pauses. Won't be shown if this worker was never reset.

New features:
  • BlockchainInfo can be selected for links in the stats table and payments history instead of classic Bitcoin Block Explorer. May be helpful if BBE shows "No such transaction".

Those features can be enabled or disabled at the "Advanced settings" page.

Tips and tricks:
You can limit payments table to some specific timespan. For example, if you bought a couple of Icarus FPGA mining boards at 2 Feb 2012, convert this date to UNIX UTC/GMT timestamp and try to create a link like this:
https://deepbit.net/payments?start=1328140800 to find out if you are close to break even or not.
Negative numbers work a bit differently. If you want to check your income for last week, multiply 60(seconds)*60(minutes)*24(hours)*7(days)=604800 and use similar link:
https://deepbit.net/payments?start=-604800

I am using a quite recent version of chrome (version 20.0.1132.47) and I don't notice any changes (yet?) of my account page. Anyone?

Hi Deepbit

I just received payment (only not confirmed information - by my Bitcoin-qt client) – see below.

https://blockexplorer.com/tx/cab061291b1b6b5e1979711ecb884839fbdfdaf9c747fae75e05b40e658458be

In a payments list on deepbit.com there is this transaction.

But there is no such transaction, I do not received money (BTC 1.05)

It is something wrong with your pool?

As the web site says, blockexplorer always shows "no such transaction" until this transactions gets at least one confirmation and the block with that transaction reaches BBE's server.

Switch your Deepbit account to the "blockchaininfo" site if you want to see more actual stats.

Hi.

The problem is that this transaction was a few hours ago.
There was more than 6 confirmations.

I received many times the payments from Deepbit but this time it is very strange.
