I (having done the Bitmessage integration) am willing to work on that if the community likes it. I think this could be a cool addition to quickly tip someone, for instance, or to exchange (public) bitcoin addresses easily for in-person meeting.

Wondering if there should be an extra Button or if it should work automatically like the aliases....

Electrum version 1.8.1 is released.
Changes: - notifications of payments - the client does no longer enforce a minimum transaction fee, except the fees required by the bitcoin network - various minor bug fixes
The upcoming 1.9 release, currently under development, will be BIP32 compatible. You can find it in the 'bip32' branch on github

I'm having a major issue. With about 30 BTC in my electrum client, I am getting 'transaction rejected' messages trying to send any amounts to another address.
Do I even have access to these funds anymore?
Not sure what is going on, it's the same for all servers I try.
I was using the 1.6.1 version for a while, but I'm getting same errors there.
Now I tried merging to 1.8.1, but I'm getting same errors as mentioned above.
The weird thing, is I was able to send transactions earlier today; now all are getting rejected.
I backed up electrum.dat in folder before I ran new version.. Is there anyway to recoup my money?
Hoping my impatience for not wanting to wait for teh block chain didn't come back to bite me.
Please help me if you can, thanks.

Please see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=271761.0Update: Problem was solved some days ago, sorry for not reporting that sooner. Seemed my local client deemed one of my wallets as unspent while I had actually sent a transaction. I'm assuming, as I was trying to resend a payment, my local wallet tried using the 'unspent' portion which was actually already 'spent' by a smaller, 0.6 btc transaction. Even though I had sent the transaction earlier with the client, the client wasn't showing the updated balance but, returned me a txid. Anyway, after misc tinkering/upgrade and backing up seed/wallet a few times. Seems it finally updated.. Perhaps it was an issue with server.. I've never seen it before though and I've held up to 100 btc electrum before so it was weird.

When importing external keys to the electrum client is there a way that these funds can be kept separate regarding wallet balances and for the purposes of "change" addresses etc.?

You could freeze them if you don't want to spend them.

Thanks for that idea... On a related question is there a way to easily import all keys from a wallet?

Export them in your current client and use the menu option Import > Private keys

Alrighty.... a little issue that I'm running into, I think I know what is causing it but wondering if there are any settings or something to help with this issue....
So I tried to send a transaction which failed (-22 error code given), I believe it is because some of the coin value selected came from immature mined coins courtesy of p2pool mining. It seems on further investigation that electrum sees these generates as readily available for use but I think there is a 160 ish block delay before they are allowed to be used.
Is there a setting or something where these can be seen as pending, or mined or something and excluded from the primary balance? Also so that things like the "!" shortcut do not include immaturely mined coin?
Thanks!

You could freeze the address if you know to which address the outputs belong. I think that would be the easiest way to overcome it.
