Tried to watch the Sri Lanka vs Ireland match in SONY LIV. But found it too boring. Bowlers are hardly getting any assistance from the pitch and the Irish bowlers also don't have any sting. So far only one wicket has fallen and Sri Lanka looks set for a big score in the range of 500-600 runs by the end of second day's play. The second wicket partnership between Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis is now worth 89 runs. The only wicket to fall so far (Nishan Madushka) went to medium pacer Curtis Campher.

Because Ireland's bowlers performed very well against Bangladesh in the last test match. Looks likely to score more than 360 today. Ireland bowlers are helpless infornt of Dimuth Karunaratne and Mendis. Both have partnership of 280 runs in between. Srilanka net score is 341 and it seems like they may cross 400 or 450 today as 16 overs play still left. Haven't seen the match but its now very clear that Irish bowling failed to create any impact. Just when Irish team performed reasonably well against Bangladesh we got to see this. Big responsibility again on shoulders of Ireland batsmen.

There are very few chances of this match being a win for Ireland or even being a draw in my opinion.  The way Sri Lanka players are scoring, Ireland should aim for a draw in this match. Because otherwise, it is going to be a televisional decision to go for a will for Ireland.

On the other hand, I saw the performance of the Ireland team against Bangladesh. This team performed well in the Test match. After a poor performance in the first innings, the team's comeback in the second innings is truly commendable.
And so I guess it will be much more difficult for Sri Lanka to beat Ireland in this test match. However, Sri Lanka's batting is very good. They managed to collect 135 runs by losing only 1 wicket. The pitch is also helping the batsmen. And so I think the match will be a draw.

Sri Lanka ended the first day at 386 for 4, the first day was Sri Lanka's and both Kurunaratne(179) and Kusal mendis(140) scored centuries. Relatively weak bowling department of Ireland is not able to perform here like Bangladesh. There is no chance of a draw in this match. Ireland will definitely lose this match if they can perform well with their batting then there is a possibility of a draw. However, the Sri Lankan batting line's performance against New Zealand will not be the same against Ireland for now. The Sri Lankan team is expected to be in great form with their batting and bowling line-up against Ireland.

Yeah, they do this regularly due to many reasons. With these bilateral, they keep them happy as these series are very lucrative for smaller boards when they host Indian team.

Just for example, 1 normal bilateral series (2-3 tests + 3-5 T-20 ) could fetch them close to $ 50 million in just one month. It's a big amount for smaller boards ( SA, SL, WI etc).

There is no interest in this match from big cricketing community while we have IPL matches are also under progress after winning toss Sri Lanka elected to bat first, and we have big partnership which ends in last few overs of the day and both ended with hug scores, but Irish bowlers have some good news in last few overs, and they take three quick wickets even after watching first days play I have feeling most chances this match is going to end in four days with Ireland will face inning defeat because they can't handle Sri Lankan spinners here in these conditions.

Run rate throughout day was above four with I was expecting near 5 or 6 after England's amazing season now few other teams will also try in this way and this was good chance for the Sri Lanka to change their style and done good end of this first test against Ireland.

Sri Lanka has shown absolute domination in this match so far. Sri Lanka has already put on a huge score of 386/4. It’s the end of the first day. The score is already pretty huge for Ireland. I can only imagine what is going to happen the next day. I believe that I believe that Sri Lanka will at least go for 450. Of course, they do not have any problems regarding time. Or even wickets as well.

So I don’t think Sri Lanka will declare it before reaching at least 450. I do not believe that Ireland will be able to reach 300. I really hope that Sri Lanka will go for a win in this match. Otherwise, the match is going to be boring.
