Today Sri Lanka vs Ireland 2nd Test match has already started.Ireland scored 172 runs in 48 overs.So far Ireland lost 3 wickets.Ireland team batsman Andrew Balbirnie scored 78 runs in 115 balls.Paul Stirling scored 67 runs in 105 balls.Ireland team batsman  They couldn't score too many runs. However, Sri Lanka's batsmen couldn't bowl very well. If they could have put the wickets under pressure by bowling well, maybe Ireland wouldn't have scored so many runs.

Ireland has done a great batting performance today. Ireland played well as a new team in Tests. Ireland did not play well in the first test, today they played much better than in the first match. Today Ireland scored 319 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 90 overs. Stumps on the first day, Andrew Balbirnie performed brilliantly with 95 off 163 balls narrowly missing out on a century. Paul Stirling scored 72 off 133 balls retd hurt. Lorcan Tucker scored 78 off 102 balls.

I never imagined that Ireland would score so well against Sri Lanka. Collected 319 runs losing only 4 wickets. I thought they would be all out within 200 runs but nothing happened. As a new team in Test cricket, Ireland team is going to perform really well.
Lorcan Tucker is performing very well with 78 runs off 102 balls. This cricketer who has played only 3 matches in Test cricket deserves to be praised for his performance ‍along with Curtis Campher on the pitch and probably he also deserve the high score.

Ireland was not able to take advantage of that benefit as they were bowl out for 38 runs in second innings. Ireland are doing well at the moment but the real challenge will be how they perform in bowling and in second innings batting.

After their disastrous performance during the first test, in this match they have made a big improvement. A number of batsmen have contributed, including Andy Balbirnie. The 7th wicket partnership between Curtis Campher and Andy McBrine has so far added 46 runs. If they could dig in, then a total in excess of 500 can't be ruled out. Graham Hume and Matthew Humphreys to come next, but these are genuine tailend batsmen.

Yeah in absence of Pant and Shreyas, selectors hardly have any choice in the batting lineup. KL did fine on his last tour of England so maybe that's why he's on the roaster. I'd have liked if Kishan was there with the gloves as keeping is not tough in England. He could've become like for like replacement in absence of Pant.

I won't even mind if KL keeps the glove for 1 test as it would give them another batter option in the playing XI. Kinda surprised to see 3 frontline spinners in the squad, bowling combination would be tough to select.

My hypothetical team would be Rohit, Gill, Pujara, Kohli, KL (WK) Axar (as pure batter), Jadeja, Ashwin, Lord Thakur, Shami and Siraj.

Batting deep with Thakur coming at number 9 and that means 6 bowling options (3 spin all-rounder + 1 seam all-rounder + 2 seam option)

After losing the first test match Ireland performance in the second test is quite outstanding. Their batters have played with remarkable tenacity and have significantly boosted the team final score. Their success thus far has been largely down to Andy Balbrinie solid performance and the combination between Curtis Campher(88/189) and Andy McBrine(32/51) for the seventh wicket. Even while the lower tier might not be as powerful Ireland would have accomplished much with a total of more than 500. The team's grit and perseverance are demonstrated by their improved performance in this test match. They stand a decent chance of earning a crucial series victory if they keep up their current level of effort. It is encouraging to watch the team come back and play well in the current test match.

After losing the test match against Sri Lanka by an innings in the first match, Ireland started afresh in the second test match. 
Ireland have been unstoppable in the first innings so far. The second session of the second day continues till now.  So far Ireland have managed to collect 452 runs for 6 wickets.  Ireland's captain was dismissed for 95 runs but Stirling took his century. Of the two batsmen who are unbeaten on the wicket so far, one has 90 runs and the other has 33 runs. 

Hopefully, Ireland can add several more runs to their scoreboard by the end of the second day's play.

After losing the first match by a huge margin, Ireland's batting in the second match surprised everyone. The team managed to collect a huge collection of 492. Every batsman in the middle order performed well. Balbirnie Stirling, Tucker and Campher batted well. It is because of the performance of these four batsmen that the Ireland team was able to collect such a huge collection. Even then I wouldn't say Ireland is in the safe zone. They have to bat well in the second innings as well.
Sri Lankan batsmen are batting very carefully. The team managed to collect 35 runs in 8 overs. Batting assisted pitches. Sri Lanka will also be able to collect big.

Disappointed to see that Ireland couldn't make 500 in their first innings. After Andy McBrine and Curtis Campher got out, the tailend batsmen failed to add a lot of runs. And the Lankans have started really well. They are at 68/0 after 16 overs. The pitch doesn't offer any sort of support for the bowlers. The good thing is that Ireland has 3 specialized spinners in Andy McBrine, Ben White and Matthew Humphreys. On top of that, Paul Stirling can also be handy with his off-spin (however, given the fact that he was forced to retire yesterday as a result of cramps, I am not sure whether he will bowl).

Despite all the conditions I would say the match is in favor of the Ireland team because they have scored 492 runs and now it is up to their bowlers to take some wickets and try to put some panic in the Sri Lankan squad. As you said, the pitch is dead flat and a paradise for batting, Ireland can still take the lead in this match if luck favors them and Sri Lankan team comes in some sort of pressure, although they are 81-0 means easy going for them so far.

Earlier three batsmen from Ireland score 100 or near 100 runs and showing that they have some good batting skills. Paul Stirling  103, the captain Andy Balbirnie  95 and Curtis Campher 111 runs were the main highlight of the Ireland innings.

Even they fail to reach 500 but still done impressive job after losing first test match badly here on this ground two centuries and another two good innings from captain and Tucker give them good confidence in this second test match now at the end of second day play Sri Lanka having 81 for no even things still not easy for the visitors but their batting giving them positive hopes for the future which is good sign because now we can expect good bundle of runs from Sri Lanka's as well which will give them good advantage for having upper hand in last few days.

Karunaratne and Madushka both have impressive start of Sri Lankan inning and if they keep play like this surely we can expect 500+ at the end of third days play which will bring them back into this match for having second win in this series as bowlers have not any help from this pitch on third days play.

If the rain stays away then there is a big possibility of at least 1 collapse on day-4, it's actually common in Lanka.

Let's say SL bats for another 100-120 overs and if the pitch remains relatively flat for tomorrow then it's possible for the Lankans to touch the opposition's scorning mark. Traditionally it starts turning at Galle from day 3 but i doubt if the Irish team got any competent spinner so 4th day would be crucial if SL starts bowling in the 2nd session. The result is possible, given rain call it a night for the next 3 days.

Ireland put up an impressive performance in 2nd test  cricket match against Sri Lanka. A. Balbirine played exceptionally well scoring 95 runs with the help of 14 fours, coming just 5 runs short of a century. Curtis Campher and Stirling also showcased their batting prowess, both scoring well deserved centuries which contributed to a formidable total of 492 runs for Ireland. Sri Lanka, in response, started their innings strongly, with a score of 81 runs without losing any wicket led by Dimuth Karunaratne and Nishan Madushka. Ireland bowlers will need to work hard to break through Srilanka strong start and take wickets to limit the trailing runs.
