Exciting end of dead rubber match (in context of series), only England is capable of doing such thing. At least they fought hard in this match and interestingly Australia keep failing to close the game at SCG, 2 back to back match, first against India and today against England. May be bowlers are running out of carrot in a long run.

No more points farming for Australia. One more draw plz 

A boring match ended in a boring way. Australia clearly won this test, but the archaic ICC rules helped England secure a draw instead. 1 wicket remaining(Both bowlers) and trailing behind by a decent margin : Draw?

Illogical crap to be honest. I feel sad for the Australians. These stupid ICC rules are seriously sucking the excitement out of tests.

There is nothing wrong with what the Australian captain did? He knew that the English team is struggling this season and wanted Khawaja to get this century for his record. England needs 352 runs to win this match which I think is still not achievable considering their past performance. Australia has already won 3 matches and they will be looking for a win in this match too.

Australia could have declared the innings as soon as Usman Khawaja scored a history century in both innings, instead they played for a while and unless they lost two quick wickets in consecutive balls they declared the innings, if they declared as soon as Usman Khawaja scored his century they would get around 18 to 20 overs for the day.

England lost their first wicket and how long they will survive in this match is to be seen and Scott Boland took the wicket and whether we will see another magical spell is to be seen  .

Look like England will survive this test match and this will end in a draw. Around 7 overs left in the day and they till have two wickets in hand. I am not sure if they will play all the remaining overs in the day or the dim light will call the day off early and England will be thankful for that. 

Somehow England managed to draw the match. If one more wicket have fallen for England it could be a win for Australia. In this match it is John Baristow who is the key for such a draw, because he scored good in the first innings as well as managed to keep the partnership with players even when there is consecutive wicket fall. When there were 40 overs left and 200 runs required to win the match I believed it could turn towards England.

That is basically a win for Australia but for the records it is a draw because of some stupid rule by ICC. Player of the match is well deserved Usman Khawaja. 137 in the first innings and 101 in the second. Meanwhile in Newzealand VS Bangladesh Latham can easily reach his double century as because of him Newzealand had a good start.

How can you say that this match was boring?  The match was too exciting that one team was so close to the win while other team last two batsmen were not letting them win the match. There are a display of excitement, anxiety and hope from both the sides.

Again why do you again think that ICC rules for the test match sucks? If there was no end time to the match, then the match would not have been exciting as everyone would know that Australia will win. It's only the limited time duration that made the match interesting.

Bangladesh won the toss and was elected to field first. The team batting later in this field of Christchurch gets more advantage. Bangladesh's decision to field first was right. However, New Zealand played great on the first day. They lost only 1 wicket and collected 349. Conway is unbeaten on 99 and Latham is unbeaten on 186. Although Bangladesh's innings has not started yet, I do not think there is a possibility of Bangladesh winning this match. The pitch will assist the pace bowlers. New Zealand's bowling lineup is very strong.

The pitch seems to be completely batting friendly. However, many cricket experts said that the pitch would be in favor of pace bowlers. But the pace bowlers of Bangladesh could not do any good performance.
Now, if Bangladesh wants to draw the match, the batsmen of Bangladesh must play well. New Zealand will probably play 2 sessions of the next day. Bangladesh will have to stay at the crease for at least until the third day. Otherwise it will be an easy win for New Zealand.

Yeah, this year started differently for test cricket indeed.

It is time for WTC champion to prove themselves and they started the second test in that way. They teared the Bangladesh's bowling attack by scoring at the run rate of around 4. There will be chances for them to square the series with an innings victory.

I read that Kohli to return back to lead India in Cape town and Mohammed Siraj might be replaced by Ishant Sharma. Not sure why India failed to show the batting depth in 2nd match but we can expect them to fight hard as the series is in line.

England may fight hard due to the morale they got from 4th match but Hobart is a fatten pitch hence another draw might be possible.

Yes a 600 plus score is looking really possible as newzealand are only one wicket down and their run raye is already very high and may be after few overs tomorrow newzealand will try to score much mor faster. Now the onus will be on the Bangladesh batsman to survive as long as possible and try to enforce the draw in thia match.

It was a relief for England as they will now avoid whitewash. Aus tried there best to win this game but it was the rain which wasted one complete day and gave advantage to England. The way England is playing there chances of winning last Test is rear, they pray for rain to draw the last test and end series 3-0. Absolutely bazaar performance.

To my surprise they somehow survived the day and it was a good game of Cricket as i did not expect them to last the entire day and the match was on the line till the last ball which is really great. Scott Boland bowled really well but somehow they were lucky enough to hold on to the last ball.

New Zealand started well this time around after the last defeat and looks like vengeance .

My thoughts as well. Australia should have declared after taking a lead of 340-350. Instead they waited till the lead got to 388, wasting some 15 overs in the process. And in the end, this decision cost them the match. Towards the end, Usman Khawaja was focusing on his century and was batting very slowly. Cameron Green on the other end was also trying to provide Khawaja the strike. I don't have anything against Khawaja, but at least he should have scored runs quickly, or signaled the captain that he is not interested in the century.

Valid points. Draws in tests are understandable if both teams still have great chances at winning the match. I do prefer T-20 format over other formats and I hate it when tests end as a draw when the result is obvious.

This is why I appreciate systems like the D/L system which provide a proper conclusion to a Cricket match irrespective of other factors.

I think this was somewhat of an expected result. What came as a surprise is that Bangladesh won the first match. I think that the New Zealand players underestimated the Bangladesh players in the first game and that's why they lost.
After they lost, then they came back to their senses and thought that they had to win this game anyway. Also maybe the Bangladesh players got carried away by the first win and this is not good for them.
They should be congratulated for their first win, but also this match shows that they need to work on so many things in test cricket. Getting all out for 126 runs I think that they might lose this match by innings which would be pretty disappointing.

Did anyone know whether Newzealand enforce the follow-on ? Although Bangladesh innings were ended on 126 runs but i did not find any announcement whether Newzealand will bat on the 3rd day or will they allow Bangladesh to play again. I think they should enforce the follow on and the match could be finished on the 3rd day.

Your point of views are very different from others. You still think that  D/L system is fair? I don't think so. This is one of the poor systems which gives a lot of benefit to the team batting first and making the target unrealistic for the chasing team. If you remember the Semifinal of 1992 world cup, where South Africa, despite being in a better position in the semifinals, was lost to England on this D/L Method.

Who else thinks this is a fair method
