Article ^^ said that Siquijor team or some players were allegedly involved in game fixing and with that they were banned from Pilipinas Vis-Min Cup while some players from Lapu-lapu team were fined and suspended.

If this is true then they are ruining the game which we, Filipinos loved so much.  

They should be suspended. If there's strong evidence that they're playing the game as if they're throwing it, they have to accept the consequences.
Former Senator Jinggoy Estrada even gave his opinion that they should be banned and out of the league for life. If you'll watch some footage, those free throws are obviously thrown and intended to be missed. They're amateur in becoming professional or most of them are already professionals then they'll have that kind of free throw? they were missing those throws intentionally.

But I'm disappointed with the aftermath. Should be penalized all players and coaches of both teams. I guess that's the best punishment for this kind of offense, it's not only destroying the team but the league in general, there should be no room for this kind of criminal act, they should protec the sport and our reputation. We don't want to be called that our basketball in the league is corrupt because we are already called as a corrupt country, so that would not help at all.

I will just cite some scenarios that happened which is very obvious that this is fix game.
1. Free Throws of one team is just hitting the board and not the ring. Its also obvious that they aren't really have the intention to shoot it.
2. One team is just wasting their time when they are holding the ball. Whenever they have the ball, they are just wasting it and in the end the opposing team will steal it causing a turnover.
3. There are also times that the one team is free and it is a fastbreak but he can't shoot it. He is free but he can't shoot it?? Sounds obvious. There is also one instance where a player is free to shoot and he made a hook shot from about 5 ft away from the ring but the ending?? It is an airball and take note the defender did nothing on it but stand but it ended up still as an airball.

These 3 are just a few of the obvious reasons that the game was fixed probably because of this online bets. Do I believe on this. Its obvious so yes and in fact one team has been banned and the other is just suspended and both of them are fined 1 Million each.

PBA players also reacted with this. They really are just ruining the sport that they loved, that we are love to play. Its the first time to have a league like this in VisMin but they did this. Shame on these people.

Fittingly, news of the breakthrough comes just a day after a new regional league, the Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup, banned one team for life and suspended and fined members of another ballclub after a dubious game.

Curiously, among those charged were Joshua Alcober aka Desmond Alcober, who was one of the members of the Siquijor Mystics ballclub that was hit with a lifetime ban on Thursday following their controversial match against Lapu-Lapu.

This is the right thing to do, charge them criminally so everyone will see this as a warning not do game fixing which ruined our reputation.

TBH, i didn't watched the video though i saw some clips but i don't want to see the whole thing they do to disgrace the game.

Just my analysis, i believed that players/coaching staff from the Siquijor team knows that the game was rigged while players from Lapu-lapu team didn't because of the things that they do were so obvious. It you intentionally missed free throws, you know that people would noticed that and that's not a good acting in a rigged game.

Nevertheless, it is still a very bad game to watch and it's just fitting that GAB ordered an investigation and punished those people behind this.

Good move! It will served as warning to everyone that law will hunt them once they'll find evidence of game fixing. Hopefully it will also serve as beginning of many possible tracing of those people behind this kind of activities.

Those players deserved what is happening to them right now. There are lots of inspiring youngsters who wanted to have the same opportunities, but those people who did messed it up.

Obvious things won't escape from the eyes of those who understand the game, better not to follow this kind of act or else
you'll suffer the same.

I'm just curious as I haven't bet on this game yet.

I looked through Sportbet as they cover some games in the MPBL but i didn't saw they cover the Vis-Min Cup so i think if they were betting online, it's just a local online bookies. I have not tried betting on local bookies as i think they need KYC so i didn't bother to try.

I'm very disappointed/frustrated about this issue because aside from the fact that this is a disgrace to the game we love, i have a relative playing for Lapu-Lapu team which could affect his personal life after basketball.

This is already for investigation and i hope he will come out clean.

They're taking this seriously and this serves also as a warning if there are still some of them that are involved with such.
If they are taking care of their career while being part of a team and the league itself, they should take care of their reputation and won't agree to be part of such a dirty game which many of us don't like.

Bookies will never get affected, they are in control of the line and they can always minimiz the risk by balancing both sides. It's the bettors who loss on the losing team will sacrifice but bookies will continue to make money. Also, they can limit the market of this bet if they found it unreliable, but would not totally remove it from betting market.

Well, that is the only thing that they can do right now but I'm pretty sure that more of these will happening in the future.

I'm not pretty sure if game-fixing is already happening for quite some time already but that game is very obvious. Charging them, expulsing them and banning them are the punishments that they can gave to the player or the whole team but the damage has been done. The reputation of the sport has been damaged.

I don't know if this is true though but those players are just being ordered by the higher authorities because they have bets on it. This is just a theory but I think that these players are just being used here. We don't know who these "higher authorities" are though. Still a disappointment for me that game-fixing is happening in different basketball leagues in our country.

Crucial PBA board meeting to decide season format, new opening date

THE PBA 46th season hopefully will get more's clarity by Monday.

The league's board of governors convenes in a crucial meeting that will determine how it will go about the new season.

Chairman Ricky Vargas and Commissioner Willie Marcial will take turns in assessing the situation and giving out possible scenarios as the PBA sees another delay in its season opener for the second straight year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Among the top matters in the league agenda is the current finances of the team since it will play a major role in two important undertakings the PBA needs moving forward – vaccine and bubble play.

Maybe soon we will know when and what format will be this coming new season, this is the update that we are all waiting for, maybe this week we will see the decision.

That's true, once it gets more corrupted, no one will ever trust and watch them again. Good-bye to supporters, goodbye to sponsors too that makes the league continuously running.

Well at least we are seeing the BOD doing some things just to push the season amid the pandemic.
One season at least for the year would be good already but pushing it into 2 seasons would be better although it would cost them more money.

The best action that the management can do just to discipline them is to just expel them or ban them and for me, that is a good decision because they can destroy the reputation of the sport.
Will the game-fixing will be cleaned?? As much as I believe it will, I don't think knowing that they don't know which game are fixed and which are not. Its just that this controversial game consists of players who don't know how to act thus, its obvious that they are game fixing .
