Based on the article I read, PBA has lost 70 million pesos in the last bubble and they could no longer sustain another bubble, thankfully the captain ball of each team are willing to help with the expenses of this current bubble set up. If the situation of our country will not change after this season, I don't know if we will still see the PBA continue with a new season.

I've read that with the statement of Marcial, they're the ones to ask for favor and help from everyone's last bubble. And now, it's their players that have asked if they can help and of course he doesn't have to decline that approval for their help. That's a lot of money and I wonder if this pandemic won't have any clue to be seen close to its end, how this league will survive. I guess the business tycoons will step in and will give their help to the league just to sustain another season.

PBA will survive, there's only two names that this league will rely on. Pangilinan and Cojuangco will not let this league to end up this way, even this virus still active  hitting our country, there's still money that will flow to assist this sport.

I see your point and that's really a huge amount of losses, but as long as the team owners are still there to take part, it will continue.

Those teams have established businesses. Such amount of money is not that much with the exposures the business is getting with the PBA.

If the situation of our country will not change after this season, I don't know if we will still see the PBA continue with a new season.

It was discussed before here that's why they wait for Metro Manila status to be a shift in GCQ so that they don't need a bubble setup anymore. However, it's unfortunate that the current conference is now again halted because of the number of cases.

Try to read that article again and I think Marcial said they can still afford to sustain a bubble setup for another 2 years*** if I remember it right. But part of the solution to somehow ease the expenses of PBA is that team owners will help them.

PBA does have a huge foundation and is backed up by big companies. SMC just for example is gaining huge benefits for their exposure in PBA. That's the reason why there are changing names in some of their teams like in the Purefoods franchise because the market is effective. Magnolia brand, SanMig Coffee, B-Meg, Star Hotshots products all get good sales when they put it as a team name in PBA alongside another way of advertisements.

Magnolia brand, SanMig Coffee, B-Meg, Star Hotshots products all get good sales when they put it as a team name in PBA alongside another way of advertisements.

Somehow it helps that one company has a lot of teams in the PBA and the company is very profitable so they can help to finance the expenses in the bubble. however, they are running a non-profitable business anymore that would not survive in the long run if games will remain in the bubble.

I believe they have a long term plan to face the problem as I'm sure they will not allow the PBA to stop just because of the pandemic.
Maybe it's time to follow the model of our league in other country on how they were able to sustain their league.

PBA was founded in 1975, the logic is very simple, the biggest basketball league will not stop, they'll continue but most likely the salary of the players will be affected as they solely based on the income they'll generate, with less income or if they are operating at a loss, they cannot give big salary to their players.

Maybe, the time will come that more players will go abroad and play in leagues like Japan B-League because they can offer better compensation.

More and more Filipino players are going to B-League already and this is kinda alarming especially for the PBA itself. After the season, we might see another players going there again or those young players might try and play in Japan. Well as for Ray Parks, I think that he will play good there.
Probably the reason for that is that PBA must not be that profitable to get in compared to B League. It's alarming but I feel like the popularity of PBA slumped this year. BRP Jr. Is definitely going to improve their as you've said, Nagoya is a strong team and hopefully he can learn more during his stay there.

Money is the big factor why PBA stars are accepting contracts from outside league. Just imagine how many folds the contract compared to how much money they can get playing in this league.

Those names that being dragged before Ravena and Parks, I remember Romeo and Abueva, they both receive a huge amount of contract offers before with B-league scouts,

Ravena Bro and Parks need to impress the Japanese teams if they wanted to continue their journey to Japan B-League,
they are all good players and giving them quality time it won't be hard for them to represent our county and give
the glory to where they first played this game.
Money is probably one of the reason but for me, I don't think that is the main reason why more and more Filipino Players are opting to play on the B-league.
Compare to the salary in B-League and PBA the difference is very high but aside from that, I believe that experience and competitions are the 2 big factors why they opted to play on Japan.

With the number of imports there and the number of good Japanese players, the competition there is far better compare to PBA and lets face it the Filipino Players will gain more experience playing international rather than staying here in our country. After all, its a win win situation for us and other players since they can showcase their experience here when they come back and we might see some improvements to other players as well.

Speaking of the opportunity to play abroad, here comes another opportunity for players to play in South Korea. I don't how much would be the salary but this could have some impact on the setup of the PBA as for sure many talented players will grab this chance if the price is right.

That's another development, the talent of the Filipinos is now more recognized in Asia.
It started with Japan and now South Korea is willing to take imports, a long-time rival of the Philippines has opened an opportunity for the Filipinos to play.

Good development and better opportunities for Filipino talents, Knowing how good the economy of S.Korea it might be expected to offer better compensation. Another news that gives chances not only for the Pro but also those who are aspiring to play outside and received good amount
of money.

Less than a week now and we will witness the resume of this league.  Though another bubble set up but it's well enough,

Just like what Tenyente Tenorio said, Olympics and NBA was over it's time now for local talents to provide the entertainment for our fellow kababayans.

Well to be targeted by scouts, a player should be talented and skilled. Take note that PH players are imports to them so they are expecting good at these players, the same as how we treat and looking forward to foreign players as imports here.

In other words, few PH players are fit and qualified for the criteria. Even a PBA player wants to play either in Japan or Sokor, if his statistics here are not good, chances are low to be signed.

I've seen some good discussion on FB that what if those two will jump into another league? what's left for the PBA then? I guess if that time comes, the PBA will plead to those two that they should stay in the league and they're the ones needed for the league to survive. That was a good discussion that I've seen but I don't think that it will happen but it's a good point that there really is the possibility that it might happen in the near future as these people knows best about business and they've been there for a long time.

That's definitely what would happen and I'm seeing a scenario that our best players will be imported abroad while we are left with regular players, if that's the case, our basketball will not be competitive as before. however, we can't blame the aspiring players that are given the chance to play abroad because they just want a greener pasture as they know basketball is not forever for them.

Business is their priorities and PBA is a good venue to advertise their products, for sure the best interest is to keep the league and support to whatever the needs to provide.

It's far to happen as these two well-known personalities are always getting their demands to this association.

They will keep the ball rolling and they will continue to use this channel to advertise and to keep attracting consumers to buy their products and support the team that they've owned.

If you'll ask me, there's no need to advertise the product anymore as it's already popular in the market, and I don't think advertisement alone could sustain the future of the PBA. Just like the NBA or any other type of sports, their biggest revenue came from the gate entrance, and since there's no crowd in the bubble, they'll continue to experience losses and their funds might not be enough in the long run.

Even the most popular business in the world still continues with their advertising, so they need the PBA to start running so their advertisements will not stop. Most of the viewers of the PBA are matured men, so the product like SMB and Ginebra will mostly benefit and they are also the most popular teams in the PBA owned by one company only. I'm just not sure with the financial aspects, but in terms of advertisement, that's my answer.

With this pandemic, every economy of the country is badly affected and the Philippines is not spared so I agree that even advertisements could not save the PBA if this pandemic continues for a year or two and no medicine for this covid. Vaccination and a breakthrough on how to treat Covid is what we want for everything to be back to normal and then there could be a live audience to help generate income.

What you are saying is obvious. Of course with the current pandemic, advertisement alone couldn't sustain the PBA but they were left with no choice.

And you will say there's no need for an advertisement lol. What a logic you have there just because the product is already popular in the market. You don't understand how useful it is especially now.

The biggest revenue came from the gate entrance? Disagree here. Totally different from the NBA where people really watch live. Didn't you know how poor gate entrance at every PBA conference was? Prior to the pandemic, live audiences aren't that much. We can only see a good gate entrance when Finals or if Ginebra is playing. That's why PBA is profiting most at TV exposures or Youtube. The more viewers, the better the ratings, the more ads they can put on their timeslot, the more they are being paid by the companies (they are even struggling on that part).

But yes, PBA will slowly depleted their savings if the pandemic situation here in the country won't change. Let's hope for the quick vaccine rollout here. Still, many people here don't want to be vaccinated.

They still need PBA to advertise, those audience from PBA solidify the brand, the product creates impact to viewers and fans. These two giants will not let this league to fall.

We all suffering from this pandemic but those reserves that these two companies still have, can sustain the league for another years.

We are talking about Pangilinan and Cojuangco, which mostly known as business tycoon. They won't spend money inside this league if there're no perks behind, aside from those underground gambling which possibly exist between those franchise owners.

That's a horrible idea, mate. Cheesy

PBA teams and their products are already popular way back before, why they didn't end the advertisement? Because it was 100% effective. The exposure is great and they have stats for it. Gate entrance is just a bonus as they are even paying for the event rent. You are right that advertisements can't sustain the PBA alone but at least they are trying their best. Just appreciate what they are doing.
