I don't understand why they stopped producing the SP10 Dawson, it would still sell like crazy.  Huh

SP10 'Hammer' - 7.5 GH/s; 0.58 W/GH/s ; Costs sub $0.90 GH/s for the chips?"

SP30 'Rockerbox' - 200 GH/s; "The first ASIC company to break the 0.5 W/GHs barrier" Costs sub $0.50 GH/s for the chips?

SPXX 'PickAxe' - XXX GH/s; 0.34 W/GHs; Costs sub $0.40 GH/s for the chips?

SPXX 'Mattock' - XXX GH/s; 0.10 W/Ghs; Costs sub $0.20 GH/s for the chips.

Basically this is a war. It is to develop the cheapest most efficient chips and there are only two real players Spondoolies versus BitFury with the capabilities to do this level of design.

Spondoolies is going Nuclear on efficiency and price and hopefully they will continue selling their chips to anyone with the cash / btc.

You can't be serious.

Are you forgetting about bitmain, innosilicon, 21e6, asicminer, knc, or blackarrow?

SP30 'Rockerbox' - 200 GH/s; "The first ASIC company to break the 0.5 W/GHs barrier

I'm curious to know how that is possible without chips in hand.

Bitfury gen1 chips are capable of more than 0.5w/gh at the wall and blackarrows minion can do it as well.

I've also never known bitfury or spondoolies to be the cheapest.

Is there actually any point in time where spondoolies had the best $/gh or w/gh ratio?

Can you answer my question though?

At what point in time has spondoolies offered the best $/gh or w/gh?

It doesn't make sense to give out dividends when the company is not in a position to do so does it?

Or is that what you did? That would explain why you need preorders to fund your next gen.

It is more than understandable that spondoolies is (and will be much more) busy during this time of their product launch.

I hope the chips will be packaged well and quickly, and we will see some initial tests and the first working units in around two weeks.

It does make sense to buy stocks of a "company" with blind faith and believe made up numbers. I've quoted some hilarious ones in the past.
Excellent track record: cancelled 2nd gen, IR Drop failure in the 3rd gen, dumping ASICs at cost, ...

The preorders we're doing allow interested customers to secure what will probably be the best machine in September.
Early birds did it for July and August. Don't quote BA 0.5 W/GHs at the wall. It doesn't help your argument Wink
The preorders didn't fund the 2nd gen R&D and tape out. They do go towards the batches as explained many times before.
Our investors doesn't expect and didn't get any dividends. They're very happy with the company performance.

Quoted for future laughs.

At this moment there isn't a valid proof of BA doing 0.5W/Gh.

How is 0.69$/GH offered in April? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=575499.0 I would say that my GB offered the best $/gh and the best w/gh ratio.

But AM never sold anything based on estimated specs.

Investors asked for his estimations and he gave them.

Must I quote all the hilarious estimations you made?

Quote
Excellent track record: cancelled 2nd gen, IR Drop failure in the 3rd gen, dumping ASICs at cost, ...

And with all that failure they still managed to make a more efficient and powerful chip than the hammer.

Imagine how the 28nm could turn out if they fix the problems.

So says bfl, BA, bitmine, hashfast, cointerra, and knc.

Technobit has also reported similar results.

Why can't you fund a giant chip order as well as for all the other long lead time parts?

You didn't buy an asic for april delivery. You paid 10btc for august delivery. Who knows how much the exchange rate will rise or fall by then but if it was delivered today you paid $1/gh.

Side note: was everyone else in august batch refunded to give them the group buy price?

Nope. The best result I've seen was over 1 W/GHs at the system level.
Measuring a specific ASIC say nothing.

...

Sure. Imagine you'll get dividends. From what I know about BitQuan 28nm schedule, it will be more or less in time for our PickAxe to drop hard on them  Grin

Hold your horses there, first you criticize them for taking preorders, now you want them?

There is obviously no need for preorders, as they are still in the design phase.
Furthermore, nobody knows how the mining equipment market will look like at the end of this year.

Price is driven by supply and demand. Nobody forces you to buy this product.

If they aren´t sold by September, I am sure that spondoolies will lower the price. So far, sales seem to be going well though.

I also call BS on AM current generation at 0.6W/GH at the wall.
You would need special low voltage transistors and severe underclocking to achieve that on this chip design.

Please provide a quote or source for that assumption though, if it indeed was said by AC.

No I'm just wondering why the sp30 is the only generation that needs to be funded by preorders.

I noticed you expect each 1.2mw container to house 2PH. Does this mean that asics have been tested at 0.6w/gh?

ASICs have been tested at various efficiencies including ~0.6W/G. Better cooling also changes power consumption (some chips 33% less at 65C vs. 85C).

No I'm just wondering why the sp30 is the only generation that needs to be funded by preorders.
The preorder funds are needed to buy all additional parts and labour, aswell as chip packaging etc.

It is further used to gauge the exact number of wanted units at a certain amount in time.

This has been debated repeatadly in this thread, so please spare us another round of circular argument.

The funds are not needed for the actual NRE costs and spondoolies only accepts them because they are very certain of the quality of their product.

Therefore, they dont need them for a product that isn´t even announced yet, and it isn´t even clear how this will be sold to customers.
