Arsenal continue to make really good signings. Havertz, Rice and another arrival is Timber. I must admit that I don't know of Timber very much but it sounds like he has a good potential. Havertz signing might be criticized due to not showing enough performance at Chelsea recently. But we shouldn't forget that Chelsea used him as centre-forward mostly. I think Arteta will use him in his main position which should make him more productive.

Rice is a talented midfielder but they spent a lot of money on his fee. They will hope Rice signing to be very beneficial for them. The team has got even younger so I can't be sure of anything for Arsenal about maintaining a title race similar to last season.

For now Manchester City look the closest team to the title on paper. But let's see some matches first which can make things clearer about teams.
the three players you mentioned are Mikel Arteta's new recruits in this transfer market, reportedly the money spent by Arsenal to bring the three of them to the Emirites Stadium was quite large, almost 200 Million Pouns. Declan Rice became the most expensive player in the EPL and Arsenal in the transfer market. At this price, of course the pressure and burden that Rice will bear will be enormous. Arteta will play an important role as a manager because he is the one most responsible for the club's success, the intense competition between other EPL teams will require the Arsenal squad to be consistent until the end of the season if you don't want to be disappointed like last season.

I think with the arrival of these new players adding depth to Arsenal's squad and providing balance between players, eventually Arteta will have several options for the main squad. It is difficult to predict a player's performance with current statistics, meaning that they might be better next season and it could also be the other way around.

I wanted to think realistically so picked Manchester City for the championship this season.
It will be difficult for any other team to win the Premier League but I think Arsenal, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Chelsea will step up a gear to really put pressure on Guardiola and his Manchester City team. I think Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United will finish as the top 3 but would not be surprised if Manchester City end up in 3rd place.

^  Whether Havertz is a good or bad signing is still up in the air.  But for his price tag, Artera should def use him as the first choice to spear head the Gunner's offense and hope that he'll make way more goals than he did last season.  Lol.  I think he made less than 10 goals for 2022/23 season.

As for the thread's poll.  I think it's gonna be City winning the league again.  But also thinking Liverpool could make a resurgence.  Did Klopp make any good signings?

Havertz is only 24 years old, is 6ft 4in and is full of potential but I cannot see him being a player that frightens Premier league defences. He will never have the same sort of impact as say Haaland had at Manchester City. I think he will fail at Arsenal because is simply not good enough for the Premier League. He was purchased by Chelsea for £62 million and then sold to Arsenal for £65 million 3 years later therefore managers and coaches believe he will become a brilliant player. I doubt it.

At Bayer Leverkusen he had a decent 118 games played with 36 goals considering he was effectively a teenager throughout. That was why Chelsea made him their second highest purchased player but he never reached a satisfactory level for them. Just 19 goals in 91 Chelsea appearances was a dismal return and that is why new manager Pochettino sold him.

Chelsea are on their way to make substantial changes to try something new with Pochettino. Many players have left for Saudi Arabia mostly until now. They concentrated on centre-forward transfers the most recently. Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson have arrived. One of the priorities should be to sign a goalkeeper also after Mendy's departure.

Kepa is said to be Pochettino's first choice as of now but I think they might need another reliable goalkeeper in case something happens to Kepa. Slonina and Bettinelli doesn't seem convincing alternatives. Aside from that they have lost 3 midfielders 2 of which were attacking midfielders. They had better concentrate on midfielder transfers also.

Pochettino is one of those managers who is basically gifted enough for others to believe his vision. He nearly succeeded at Tottenham and did very well at Southampton. As for PSG, maybe the personalities in the dressing room were too big with their own politics and marketing ploys involved but he did fairly well.

If he can bring that style of excellent man-management skills to Chelsea and trim the squad down from 38 to 25 players, I think Chelsea will surprise many when the season starts. I need to list all their incoming/outgoing players along with the rest of the Premier League, I will try to do it soon.

I am tipping Chelsea to finish above Arsenal and to finish in the top three at the end of the season. Pochettino will have a massive impact on the Chelsea squad and all around the club. The fans must be pleased he is the one in the driving seat.

Life is boring without Premier League football, it is only a short wait before the new season kicks-off.

Arsenal paid £105 million to buy Rice from West Ham therefore the pressure is on them to at least finish in the top again this season. Manchester United allowed De Gea to leave on a free transfer and are looking to buy Onana as a replacement from Inter Milan for £50 million.

There is still a chance Kane could leave Tottenham and move to Bayern Munich and that is where Kyle Walker is likely to head too because he wants to quit Manchester City. I will post a list of the transfer market activity when I compile the list.

@JollyGood I’m eagerly waiting for it to resume because life gets boring without football and I can’t wait to see a new Manchester United provided they get a new keeper and a striker. Furthermore for the the title City and Arsenal are the contenders and Newcastle, Liverpool, and Manchester United should give them a healthy competition at least that’s what I feel.

The Gunners can't wait to unveil Rice. To Arteta, he's like a new bride and I'm sure with that amount splashed on him, a lot would be expected. This season is going to be an exciting one to watch and there'd be a lotta competition. A quick suggestion to Mikel tho will be that he shouldn't start Kai Havertz because the dude hasn't got that fire needed in the midfield and judging by what he displayed in the friendlies, he'd need to work a lot on himself.

Has their record buy £105 million midfielder Declan Rice got the temperament to live up to such a big price tag? In my opinion he was not worth more than £50 million but he became the Arsenal record buy. If Rice fails in his role and if Arsenal do not get off to a good start then it could be the beginning of the end for their manager Arteta.

West Ham United have received a phenomenal amount of money for Rice, they should go out and spend it wisely. They would like to avoid a relegation battle and try to finish in the top half therefore if they are careful with their new recruits they will challenge for the Europa League again as well as the two domestic cup competitions.

@JollyGood I disagree about Rice valuation because he was clearly worth $80 million at least but I’ll agree that Arsenal did pay extra to get him. Furthermore he’ll definitely be a instant hit because while West Ham flopped last season he was terrific whenever he had the ball and I was praying that Manchester United get him because he’s an player that can improve any team so I’m 100% confident that he won’t flop while playing for Arsenal.

For now Manchester City look the closest team to the title on paper. But let's see some matches first which can make things clearer about teams.
Jurrien Timber is only 22 years old and has the makings of a good long-term defender option but the £34 million price Arsenal paid has to be called in to question because he was playing for Ajax in The Netherlands which is not the most competitive league. Along with the £105 million they paid for 24 year old Rice and the £65 million they paid for 24 year old Havertz, it shows Arteta is banking on youth to deliver him the Premier League title.

He spent over £200 million this pre-season therefore therefore Arsenal have to perform otherwise he his job will be on the line.

I need to have a look through the official transfers at Chelsea on their website, I really have no idea what Pochettino has been doing apart from Kante leaving. What I do know though is he will fill Chelsea with confidence and they will be title contenders.

@JollyGood I disagree about Rice valuation because he was clearly worth $80 million at least but I’ll agree that Arsenal did pay extra to get him. There were football commentators (some were ex-players) making it clear Rice was not worth a maximum of £60 million. West Ham United are the real main  beneficiaries of the deal as they have received £105 million and now they have to recruit the players that will help them have a comfortable season.

I need to have a look through the official transfers at Chelsea on their website, I really have no idea what Pochettino has been doing apart from Kante leaving. What I do know though is he will fill Chelsea with confidence and they will be title contenders.

On our official website, I bet you won't find the transfer information you want; you're looking in the wrong place. The Fabrizio page is the place to be.

With our clear outs and incomings, my confidence in Chelsea is building is high. Caicedo is the final piece of the puzzle to strengthen our frail middle.

Manchester City are likely going to lose 4-5 of their starting players including Ederson if this happens the team would struggle to defend the title this season.

What I'm saying is Arsenal def overpaid for Havertz.  But whether he'll be worth the price tag or not will obviously depend on how good he performs.  Next season could prove if Arteta has the Midas touch or he just had a fluke of a season during the last season.  But between seeing somebody succeed or fail, I'd rather root for them to succeed.  It's good to have stories of second chances and having a fairy tale ending after it all.  Good for the league and good for the fans.  Wink

And in Havertz defense, Chelsea wasn't really in great shape when they got Havertz.  Arsenal could give him the stability every player yearns for.

As for the thread's poll.  I think it's gonna be City winning the league again.  But also thinking Liverpool could make a resurgence.  Did Klopp make any good signings?

I only know of two players who have officially joined Liverpool.
1. Alexis Mac Allister - Brighton (42 million euros)
2. Dominik Szoboszlai - RB Leipzig (70 million euros)
While Sepp van den Berg entered after expiring his loan from Schalke and returned on loan to Mainz. At this moment I know more players are out. If only these two players are honest, I have little doubt they can compete for next season. But remember the transfer season is still until September, I think there will be surprises.

We received a better deal off his stupid ass, Kai, who is 6ft tall, lazy, and moves slowly. Our team was in a good shape when we got him; he had some good moments in our shirts, but his bad games outnumbered his good ones; he performed below our expectations, and I'm delighted we received such a fantastic deal from Arsenal after Real Madrid backed out of the deal.

I told Arsenal fans not to expect much from him; he will spend the majority of his time on the bench, as I don't see him causing problems in the Arsenal midfield or attack with the way he plays. He will provide excellent squad depth. .

Guardiola is a master of buying and selling players at the right time. The only other manager I can think of that did it consistently in the Premier League was ex-Manchester United manager Ferguson. Like you I think Manchester City will struggle even if he replaces the players he sells and it will be difficult for them to retain the Premier League title.

From my perspective the Premier League is the best and most exciting football league in the world therefore they should have the best players, coaches and managers. With you being an ardent Chelsea fan, what are your views on Pochettino being installed as their new manager? I state without hesitation that Chelsea will finish next season in the top four that is how much Pochettino will elevate them.

The players that did not go on the pre-season tour of the USA were Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Romelu Lukaku, Hakim Ziyech, Harvey Vale and Omari Hutchinson. It seems Pochettino does not have them in his plans and they will be sold before the season begins.

Poch is going to improve a lot of things surrounding the players, their attitude, and the way we play, but I'm not happy with our incomings yet; we're still behind the top six in the EPL in terms of quality. I saw us play yesterday night and must admit that I observed a team moving in-between lines, attacking more directly, and having a compact back four. So far, I'm impressed, but we still need some experience on the team.

Those you mentioned are leaving, and the young stars among them are going on loan.

I cannot understand why Arteta believes that much in Havertz to pay £65 million when he cannot cope with life in the Premier League. He has potential to be a goal scorer if he receives the ball from talented assist makers (which Arsenal have) but I cannot see him staying at Arsenal beyond two seasons as he will probably be sold after being unable to prove himself.

Chelsea have benefitted from selling Havertz for that much therefore that is a success for them to get him off their payroll.

I am glad you stated Pochettino will bring improvements to the team. I think he will bring instant success and they will win a trophy in his first season.

Of that six Ziyech had potential to be a long term Chelsea player. I do not know what went wrong for him but he is clearly not part of a team that Pochettino is building.

I wanted to think realistically so picked Manchester City for the championship this season. They won their third league title in a row and for now I don't see any hindrance for them not to go for the fourth. We need to see the progresses top teams in the league have made as well after the beginning of the season. You know there were such teams in poor condition in the previous season like Chelsea and Liverpool most of the time. Tottenham also couldn't be competitive for anything.

Newcastle were a surprising team with making it to top 4 but their job is likely to be even more difficult this time. Because Liverpool have already showed the sign of recovery in last times of the previous season. I expect Chelsea to do much better than that as well.

I also think that Man City will be the main contender for the championship in the new season.... But I think there will be a lot more competition than last season when only Arsenal had a chance to win it.... Next season we will be left with Arsenal, Newcastle, Man U and Liverpool.... All of these clubs performed well at the end of last season and I'm sure they will be fighting for the top spot next season.... I'm not sure about Chelsea, but I hope the new coach can help them.... That wouldn't be a bad thing...

If Manchester City can't take the race on their own next year, we could watch a championship race similar to the one in Serie A two years ago. In this case, I would like it because it will be more exciting because the summit race in this league where the best teams of the world take place can lead to more enjoyable matches. Even though Manchester City is still the strongest contender, I think Arsenal will be the team that will push them the hardest.

He has potential to be a goal scorer if he receives the ball from talented assist makers (which Arsenal have) but I cannot see him staying at Arsenal beyond two seasons as he will probably be sold after being unable to prove himself.

He'd spend a lot of time on the bench; I can't think of a single attacker he's better than at Arsenal, and if Arteta opted to use him in midfield, it'd be difficult even with options they have now.

Of that six Ziyech had potential to be a long term Chelsea player. I do not know what went wrong for him but he is clearly not part of a team that Pochettino is building.

We're not getting a break from Ziyech; two failed transfer, the club is looking for a good offer for him after the Saudis backed out after he failed his medical. He's not helping himself with his knee problem, and he's not what we need. He hasn't lived up to our expectations since signing with us.

Havertz looked really poor in a challenge in the MLS All-Stars event recently. He wasted like all the crosses to him.  Grin  Of course this isn't anything official maybe but this still made me a little worried for Arsenal. They spent quite much money for his transfer fee and I still find that fee unnecessarily high for a player who hasn't been showing an impressive performance for a while.

Of course Havertz played as a centre-forward mostly at Chelsea and his main role is attacking midfielder. But let's see if he will make progress after Arteta starts to use him in his natural position. Otherwise this transfer is likely to turn out to be really bad for Arsenal.

I liked to watch him at Leverkusen but I don't fully trust him to bring back those days for now.

Ziyech denies his knee or hip suffer from issues but Al-Nassr said he failed a medical. They agreed £8 million for the sale but Chelsea paid £33 million to Ajax to buy him therefore it is a huge loss. If he does not get sold he will end up staying at Chelsea, there are two years of his current Chelsea deal remaining. It is best for all parties if he leaves and he is only 24 years old (I think), he should be able to kick-start his career elsewhere.

I saw the photo as well, but why would an ARAB nation lie about one of their own? Ziyech hails from one of Africa's most powerful ARAB countries and was always going to be an excellent fit for them. I'm not sure who this photo was for, but I'm sure he was sending a message.

He did have knee problems last season, so I don't believe the Saudis are lying. Ziyech simply did it to reassure his other interested clubs that he is fine, but what do you expect from a player who has been instructed to leave?

Sincerely I wish he is given another chance next season under Poch he still got some quality in him.
