I'm just use to putting the wallet address as rpcuser from prior solo mining experiences.

So, part of the software is the server/miner portion and the other is kind of a wallet/block viewer. I could open the qt, it said it couldn't lock in the data.

My cpu usage is 20% or less, is that normal for one 7970 running on a quad core cpu setup?

This happens when the client is still running and can mostly happen if a miner is still mining on it even if you close the client.
Its still locked onto the data so if you see that, usually its best to go to task manager and close the process

Claymore's seems to be better for the 290/290X.
This is not correct:
- Claymore is yet to provide stats for 290
- Claymore claims to have 0.9 cpd on 290x, ours >= 1.1 cpd (various reports)

The primegpu miner is faster than the Claymore one for 7970/280X. I get time=238 on primegpu and time=770 on Claymore.

On prime GPU miner i am at 240-250 time for each 290x.  Hoping for improvement on these cards soon.

Do you know what exactly means "240-250" time? Or "770" time? I know only how I measure "770" time, but I have no clue what primegpu measures in his miner. Miners are different and they show different numbers since they measure absolutely different things. Again, these numbers have different meanings. So don't compare these values. It's like compare apple and orange Smiley The only way to compare different miners is to run them and check earnings.

Please read Readme and FAQ in the first post of this thread before asking any questions, probably the answer is already there.

Your miner show is the total time round. I'm just assuming that primegpu is doing the same, but I can be wrong, I'm human you know. But these number I'm getting is from a 7970, I don't currently own a 290/290x.

I made a separate thread to discuss your miner to reduce any confusion: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=557604.0

the claymore miner is pool optimized likely at the cost of ch/day to compare the 2 solo vs pool makes little sense, i hope primegpu has some performance enhancement for us soon or we all wasted our xpm on license Sad which btw are painfully restrictive unless u had a card in its own rig for this...

For 7970/280x ours is at least 2x faster than Claymore's.

Mine's is showing "Estimated CPD= 1.39" on 14.3 beta drivers on a single 7970 with a AMD Phenom II x4 820 (Unlock cache makes it equal to a 920).

You are likely correct.  I am at 2.2 cpd with 2x290x.  Is that easier to compare?
I gather that the claymore miner mines a pool instead of solo, is that correct?

I'm just running 2.8ghz on my old AMD Phenom II x4. I was planning to run it on my Core i5 build, but the AMD meets the requirement to run the miner properly.
