I for one am damn happy that there was a fork. The hackers got owned. Hard. If that means that my ~4k will be valued next to nothing, I don't mind. I'm ready to sacrifice that much just to see these hackers get a slap in the face.

VeriCoin is the first and only crypto to stand up and do whats right. WITH THE CAPABILITY to do it. In the name of its community, over idealism.

VeriCoin is showing value in spades since this attack.

For it to not go mainstream at some point, I would be more shocked than ever. This community / team is unique to crypto, others would not pull through this a better coin / community, we will.

Im with you, I am taking my coins right to wallet / cold storage 50/50 And when im ready to spend, hello veri-bit. I didn't have 1 penny on Mintpal, but I support the people who did and doing whats right.

Here's another thought: What if the devs didn't agree to a rollback? Do you really think Mintpal could pay back 2 million dollars? What if they just closed up shop and took off with everyone's coins? What would you all be saying then?

Now that really is an interesting point. What if the VRC devs didn't agree to fork VeriCoin and save investors money, how would MintPal be able to pay back $2M worth of damages, it would be Gox 2.0 - Revenge of the Altcoins.

This is what I'm wondering.  Why are the coins intact? Coins are accepted anywhere BTC is accepted.

Seems more like someone at Mintpal lost a lost private key.

If so, I would NOT recommend a fork because it would make VRC more scarce and more valuable per coin.

VeriCoin Development Team took the decision to FORK the blockchain at a position before the attack and reverse all transactions and as results all Mintpal stolen coins were retrived , bailing out Mintpal mistake . I think Mt.Gox wished to had the same option at hand without destroying coin integrity as a secure decentralized system .  But each will decide if this was a option or they could be found other solutions , like destroying the coins stolen and make Mintpal learn it’s lesson that this is not their playground and we need professional exchanges not a bunch of Script Kiddies.
