Just wanted to reiterate a point on how to spread the love for the VRC community. I created a meetup.com event within my city's bitcoin meetup group titled "Alt-coin meetup". After throwing it up there over the weekend looks like we already have 10 people coming to the meeting. Everyone is suppose to come to represent a coin that they support (I'm doing VRC) and I think if a few other people would jump on board and get one going in their city we can build a little momentum from it. Here was the exact message I posted to get people interested:


Hey everyone, I have been really excited over the last few months supporting the project/team that is working on Vericoin (ticker VRC). It got me to think - I would love to have a meetup where everyone who's into alternate coins (LTC, DOGE, BC, DRK, VRC - you name it) come and support their favorite alt-coin. Lets have an educated discussion on what it is their coin is working on and why they support the team.

Its that simple and has seem to already get a pretty good response in my group. Our meeting is scheduled for the first week of September so by that time I'm hoping to have 50-60 people attend.

Anyway, just a thought.

Well thanks for the idea. I'm not as concerned about receiving any donations myself - so I added a wallet address (that's i'm not currently using) to the bottom of my signature which I will donate 100% of anything throw-in during the meetup group on September 4th.

I have been talking here for weeks about the importance of progressing in blockchain 2 tech development. ViaCoin is the best example of how important the blockchain 2 tech for the maket.

Today ViaCoin unveiled the ClearingHouse at http://blog.viacoin.org/2014/08/11/1-clearinghouse.html  Their price is going up and the volume speaks for itself. Probably lots of LTC money is going to ViaCoin too.

I am still holding a lots of vericoin, but I have more viacoin right now than vericoin so I am happy for the viacoin success, but still would be nice to see vericoin progress as well, it would be great if the vericoin devs could deliver something too. The two coins were at the same price a few weeks ago - right now viacoin worth 6x of vericoin. I am not sure if it is possible (whether the devs can deliver at all), but I think it is time for vericoin to get into the blockchain 2 race even if nothing more but by delivering the first white paper.

I've been reading this thread for the last 2 weeks and can't sit on the sidelines any longer as it's blatantly obvious that you don't really care about the facts and would rather twist them to serve your own VeriCoin bashing agenda here.

If you really want to look at the facts, the VeriCoin price as of May 20th (before the recent pump and dump) has lost less than 5% of it's value while Litecoin has lost around 40%.  We're entering the last stretch of summer and seasonally speaking, it's the worst time of the year for the cryptocurrency markets.  For anyone that was in the market at this time last year, they were bitching that their Bitcoin holdings were down over 60% after having hit a high of over $250.  A lot of us have already been through it so there no need to be so dramatic about it.  By their very nature the crypto markets are extremely volatile so it is what it is.  If you can't handle it then I suggest you get lost because this game isn't for you.  Perhaps you'd be better investing in Blue-Chip stocks, Bonds or CD's or something of that nature.

Surely comparing the LTC and VRC price drop is completely erroneous, considering Vericoin is months old whilst Litecoin is years old and both with completely different market caps.

So I think it is better if we compare the today price with not May 20th but May 1st, in this case there is no loss at all ... but 600% gain.

The reality is that VeriCoin order book is 4.3 BTC at this moment in time at BitTrex, there is no interest in this coin at all, the price is dropping while other coins (that progress in developing new features) are doing well.
