Would be uber cool!
Without anything practical we will probably keep diving further.

Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's.
This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

i have been reducing my average cost quite nicely. i speculate there must be some big news in the upcoming missive.

Holy cow you must be sitting on a massive loss by this point. I mean, just going by all the other times you've said you were adding to your position, and every single one of those times was at a price higher than it is now.

Looks like XMR is rebounding strongly. Hopefully this is a trend reversal.

The recent price decrease was not due to Mintpal XMR being sold. Those are not held by Ryan.

its not held by the original mintpal owners either. they seem to have the wallet but not the key. they say ryan has the key. so 100K xmr are lost?

The key is the only relevant part of the wallet. The rest of the files are irrelevant. The bin file is just a cache of some blockchain data and the address file is just the public address.

If Ryan has the key, then he has the coins. (I don't know if this is the case.)

what i think is that moolah has the "key" to mintpal v2 service. v1 might have had all the wallets and keys along with it but need the v2 data to figure out who traded during v2. for example i bought +200 mills karma in v2. I want to get these coins. v2 will have the data to prove my transactions.

i think they do have the wallets but will cause mayhem if they go by v1 last trades. Which are a month old

There is no significant update for long time. We need something tangible such as per kB based transaction fee. I wonder why it is so difficult to implement.

IIRC last week they said it's going into testing phase. I really hoped it will be released .. yesterday, but this time the Missive seems to be missing/late. I still think/hope to see per kB fee live this week.

my average buy is in the 0.003's.

fundamentals of monero have not changed, active development and other projects are still ahead, so i don't feel bad picking up more XMR at these low prices.

Last 3 months are big disappointment for me. Still no official GUI, price always drops, no hype, no community support. Missives didn't effect well to the price.

I'm getting a bit tired of this complaining.

Would you rather have an official GUI and have the coin die in six months due to a core full of holes?

Time and again the devs have said they would give priority to security flaws, QoS and other core functionality.

Chill out people. The team is doing the world a big favor working on this project. What have YOU (complainers) done?

PS: I'm not happy about the price either. But that's because I was not cautious and listened to some ultra bullish members of the community and bought the hype. That's my problem not the dev's.

The big consolation I get is that the whales are losing more money than the small guys.  And they have less of an escape route.  We saw what happened when one whale (MintPal) dumped.

I've sent 5% donations to the devs quietly and plan on sending more.  If whales want to help this is how - not the hype.  Building a virtual reality to live his kingdom fantasies in 2d world revolved around Monero is kinda cute.  I don't really see it harming or helping the coin much.

I kinda have a problem that one of the core team members / whale sidekicks is working on a borderline scam project Truckcoin/Hyperstake.  The 750% is bad enough but using an old coin to pump in order to pull off insider trading just ... smells bad.

Monero is still the only altcoin out there worth jack**** and maybe boolberry.  Thank you devs for what you do.  I'll be donating more soon.

I wanna distance myself from several assertions here.

First, there is no consolation in seeing others losing money. I was the one who made the wrong decisions not them.
Fortunately, no one should be losing money. That only happens if one were to make the mistake to sell now. Actually he would be losing both fiat and real money.

Finally, David has always been kind and helpful to me and others. Your allegations simply "Does Not Compute".
Hyperstake is FUN. If you followed it and knew the community, you would know that.

Hyperstake is FUN having the shit pumped out of it. If you followed it and knew the community, you would know that.

Have you looked at how much dough the people who owned TruckCoin before it became hyperstake made?  At the expense of the late adopters?  This was a calculated effort to monotarize turning a shitcoin into an almost legit one and it was all built around insider information and fun pumping.

I didn't take your assessment of losing money of Monero as in any way backing up my personal opinions.

Solid post, agreed on all points I have an opinion on (That is, everything except the Truckcoin/Hyperstake remark. Don't know anything about those.)

EDIT: Unless 'consolation' is supposed to mean 'gloating'... but I don't think it was intended like that.

Not sure which Bitcoin wallet you should use? Get Electrum!
Electrum is an open-source lightweight client: fast, user friendly, and 100% secure.

No.  Not gloating.  Why would I gloat?  I think many people don't take into account that it's probably harder to make the same % as a whale than a little guy.  There is some consolation / security in that this can't be a dump profiting whales because there's been such a high price from (almost) the beginning.  So they're stuck right here with us little guys Tongue

Yeah, I have roughly doubled my XMR stake since I joined the MEW.  I need to double my initial throwdown.  Thanks for the reminder, UnicornFarts.

XMR just has to go through this phase. The price does not lie, the initial price was apparently a bit too high. Patience is a virtue.

Bitcoin price had several 5-fold drops from ATH and even one or two 10-fold drops. XMR is likely to be even more of a roller-coaster.
