Make sense?
Yes, actually it does make sense. Thanks for 'holding my hand' through that....lol I just don't know enough about both securities (or common practices on the GLBSE) to distinguish between some that are being offered currently. Cheers.

I really can't comment on the 5870, but I can tell you that the coolers that I currently use on my 5830's WILL NOT cool a non-reference 6950 (if that helps)....
My main goal with trying these was to keep my 5830's mining after the shitty Sapphire fans died.....and for that, these things kick the Sapphire Cooler's asses. Quieter, cooler.....the only problem ? BULKY. You can not run these in a case, as you will never get more than 2 cards on a motherboard....due to the size of the coolers.

Let me get this right : them cheap coolers are only for the core ?
Seems they work good. Do the fans support PWM or just simple 3 pin fans ?
What is cooling the memory / VRMs ?
Reference cards or not ?
Underclocked memory ?
Sapphire 5830 Extreme, no memory cooling from factory, so none used (but heatsinks for RAM were included with this kit). The VRM uses the factory attached heatsink that I left on after pulling off the original fan assembly. Memory is all underclocked on the cards as well. Fans are 3pin or 4pin molex, no PWN support.....just basic case fans @ 90mm. The heatpipes also are 'for real' as I broke one and the card was noticeable HOTTER reporting in CGMiner by over 10c at idle......so they DO work. I have had great luck with these dual-heatpipe coolers @ 90mm as well as the 120mm size on my 6950 that idled at 70 with the OEM XFX heatsink, but now maintains under 60C at full load mining and overclocked. YMMV....but I am using 6 of them and LOVe them. Overclocked, mining, SILENT and COOL running cards.

As discussed before, there IS a solution: Give early adopters a royalty slice of later sales, justifying the comparatively high initial cost. This allows a midpoint to be reached between the miners and BFL. BFL maximizes profits by releasing exponential hash increases slowly rather than all at once, and also maximizes miner's profits. The key thing is to give realistic public plans about how chips will be released and then stick to them so that people know what they're getting into.
-bgc
Their plan is already SET and was done so a long time ago. It was essentially to get as much of your money as possible, hold it for as long as possible, then FORCE you to send them even MORE money in the end, regardless of how pissed off you are at them. They are geniuses...

So wait.... I can't just trade in either my 50 Singles for a new ASIC Mini-Rig ? or my 2 current Mini-Rigs for a brand new ASIC Mini-Rig ? ...WITHOUT any additional money ? WTF ? Where's the 100% ! ? ! ?

AND THERE WE HAVE IT..... You can trade a regular Single in towards the purchase of an SC Single, but you can't trade in two regular singles to get an SC Single. I know people would rather do that, but it's not a working business model.
Sweet, are you going to stop raising cain now? The past few days, half of the posts have been you bitching endlessly. Tell me that I was right and I will run away and die a happy man.....

I'm sure BFL will give top delivery priority to cash orders, not to upgrades on which other operators base their offers.
Thank you for being realistic. This is one of only a small handful of posts I have read from current BFL product owners that actually makes sense from a business prospective, regardless of how unfair it may or may not be to those customers. thank you for that refreshing outlook on reality. bitlane.

What the payout difference and share price difference compared to gigavps's program ? (I haven't been paying attention).
What costs more to purchase, which returns more per payment and which breaks even sooner ? (with all of the recent price changes on the GLBSE)...

I have asked this in an e-mail yesterday and received NO response to this point (i.e., Who gets preferential treatment). Do they base it on which customers have purchased the most gear? Lord knows but would like it confirmed...
Why would current customers get preferential treatment ? they already have half of your money, so all they care about is WHO IS PAYING FULL PRICE....then worry about the trade-in people after the fact. HHhmmm..tough decision. Using a Single as an example: Take $1300 clear, or take $700 + old hardware (that we already have the money from) and the hassle..... If YOU were a business owner, WHICH WOULD YOU PREFER ? $700 or $1300 ?

You could be correct but I think I will wait from a response from BFL Engineer or until they update their site w/ the relevant info unless someone can point me to the thread where Jody has stated this. Even then I don't think I'll believe it until BFL gives an actual response to this trade in program allegation. I don't really care anyway, the trade in program won't affect me at all.
They have been given ample opportunity to reply in public, as I have seen them all online, but they have avoided answering even the questions directed towards them in regards to this trade-up program. The longer they can keep people 'in the fog' means more orders rolling in, meaning more future UPGRADE MONEY for them to receive from everyone once they sucker everyone in. They have played their hand quite nicely and avoided the tough questions.

Face it. BFL have fucked over the entire community without even releasing their new ASIC product.
All it took was an announcement to cause enough FEAR to crash the top Security prices on the GLBSE, the mad PANIC SELL-OFF of Bitforce Singles (over 50 for sale currently that I saw in the marketplace here) and the fight over their VAGUE terms of trade-in....not to mention the MEGA-TROLL against their competition.
THEY HAVE EVERY CURRENT CUSTOMER BY THE BALLS.
Those of you who have paid them your money have been hooked, line'd and SUNK....LOL....as in Hook, Line and Sinker.
They left their trade-up program details JUST VAGUE enough to keep the new orders rollin' in...but I wonder how those new orders will proceed after today or even last night ?
They were forced to reveal info that they DIDN'T want YOU to know and that was the fact that regardless of what BFL product you have, you will still have to PAY for your upgrade, FOR EACH ITEM. No trading in '2 old units' straight across for 1 shiny new one etc.
They want your money and NOW you have NO CHOICE but to keep giving it to them if you own a current generation piece of BFL hardware.

Ever since BFL posted their clarification in regards to the 1:1 or 50% ratio of hardware vs cash for their upgrade program, multiple singles will surely not get bought up as quickly as they would have last week.
Considering you have to spend up to $800+ for a Single from a 3rd party NOW, then spend another $700 when ASICs are released, so that each of your Singles doesn't end up as a paper weight, I am sure people will be much more careful 'investing' their money into BFL hardware, knowing that they are basically on the hook (as in hook, line and sinker) to be forced to spend double the cash by the time they are done.....unless they give up and quit once their singles are the equivalent of current CPU miners in the mix of new ASICs and increased difficulty.
It's not like you can simply buy 10 Singles now, then trade them straight across for 5 new ASIC singles without any cash on top once the newer generation is released. FORCED purchases/upgrades....NOT COOL.
In short, $800 for a Single Today ? GOOD LUCK. Last week Maybe.....I can't see your sale going THAT fast this week.....
Good luck none the less. I just want to make sure everyone knows what they are getting themselves into.

You know what I think happened :
BFL saw your posts and decided to follow your business model instead of 1:1 swapping as before !
So we WILL be able to trade 50 current singles straight across without money involved, for a new ASIC Mini-Rig after all ?
