1101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Argument: Can a digital currency sent to a wrong address be recovered ? on: June 07, 2023, 10:31:39 AM
So after a long series of argument today between a friend of mine and myself, we decided to take the question to various platforms for clear response.

The argument was about, Is it possible to recover any digital currency like Bitcoins and others after sending it to a wrong address ?

My friend actually thought it would be possible, but i tried to explain that it is not possible due to the decentralized structure. So my fellow users, please help us clarify this doubt.
If you read bitcoin's whitepaper, it will tell you that it is irreversible, and I think this is one features that Satoshi put in order to protect both parties. Perhaps it could be possible if there are legal ramifications, i.e. the court of law decided that the receiver (if know to the sender), will have to give it back.

But I don't see this happening in most cases, I mean all our identify is hidden and there are no names attach to each addresses. Unless again, if it is a centralized exchanges and that the court of law subpoena those exchanges to reveal the identify.
1102  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Josh Taylor vs Teofimo Lopez on: June 07, 2023, 09:54:16 AM
Back to the Teo Lopez fight, i'm now putting some money on Taylor ML @1.56, though I believed that he will KO Lopezbut  I won't underestimate the latter as he might still stand after the bell of round 12 sounded  Grin.

For sentimental favorites, I will go with Josh Taylor to shut down that big mouth of Teo and bring his ass back to the ground. Yes, I will also wanted to see him getting knockout for good or a complete domination with by Josh.

The 1.56 moneyline odds are quite low. I initially thought that Taylor would only be a slight favorite, but with those odds, it makes me question if Lopez is just hyping things up to gain attention, while in reality, he isn't as good. Well, Josh Taylor has already proven that he owns this division, so Lopez shouldn't make excuses if he fails in this attempt. Anyway, good luck, guys. I feel that a KO win by Taylor is more appealing, though risky at the same time.

Taylor by KO offers odds of 3.30, and there's a reason why it's high. Lopez has never been knocked out in his boxing career, so the likelihood of that happening is relatively low. Additionally, Taylor is not known as a knockout artist, with only 13 knockout wins out of 19 fights, resulting in a 68% knockout rate. Furthermore, his last knockout win was in 2020.
But still the favorite is Josh Taylor and I'm not surprised by it. Yeah, it's true he is not a knockout artist, but he methodically destroys his opponent and dominate them in the fight.

While on the other hand, Teo Lopez, still continues to bad mouth Taylor but Josh is not backing down and have his own trash talking too. And that's why this fight is exciting and it's better to live on the hype.
1103  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: European Sex Championship 😳, Will you Bet? on: June 07, 2023, 08:58:23 AM
Even if casino add this kind of competition for betting, in which section would it be? Other ? I believe gamblers rarely enter this section. I bet not many will be interested in such placing bet for such championship, as it looks studit to lose money with such bets. People would bet on something they are familiar with. Sex championship - even if there will be such a sport, it will be still new and less interesting.

Let's suppose the betting sites offer the betting for sex tornamemt but how will they decide the odds. Even if they give almost similar odds to both the sides, how will the players will select the player to bet on.

We never know the strength and weaknesses of the players as we will be withnessing all of them for the first time  if we bet on any player, it wil be pure luck as no player history would be available.

Casinos will not add this sport. Its a plot. Casinos today are not asking KYC to users withdrawing small amounts but if they are considered a porno website, everyone will be asked to submit even those who are not depositing yet.

A porno website turning into a betting platform will be a new twist to this story. Yep thats adoption because maniacs are coming.  Cheesy
This is also what I'm thinking, this could turn out to be just a porno, so for sure crypto based bookies might stay away from this kind of competition. Might be good if there is a poll to see how many of us here are going to bet on this?  Grin

We are just gamblers though, not into porn or whatever, so there could be majority here that are going to sway and frown upon this kind of competition. In the first place, I don't know if you can call this one a sport and that there will be a champion.
1104  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 07, 2023, 08:22:19 AM
Just because Miami won one doesn't mean that they will be great, just because Nuggets won one that doesn't mean they will be great neither. There is no "figured out" situation right now, it's a tie and not even 3-3, it's 1-1 yet and we yet to see a lot of games left. I do not think that any team will win 4-1, which means that we are going to see plenty more games.

Let's see how it will look by the end and I think it's quite important to remember that both of these teams reached to finals beating teams that beat all other teams so these are the best of this season and it would be very impossible to judge them based on 2 games or just their seeds. Betting is incredibly difficult when we are talking about just finals, it's always a big unknown what's going to happen.

Lets also not forget that these two teams are both Conference Finals contenders in the bubble. None of them got lucky, both did it the hard way and they might as well end it on that kind of tenacity.
Both teams will not give up, I am sure about that. Miami Heat might be the underdog in the eyes of a lot of people but they showed how they should not be underestimated anymore.
I think this will defend on whose fan will we be.
I am a big fan of the Joker so I will stick with Denver Nuggets. When it comes to gambling, it will be different, if the spreads went up again in favor of the Miami Heat then I might be for them.
I am not expecting a blowout game anymore with how the Heat played. They also showed their weapons and it was damn amazing.

Honestly if Murray never blew out his knee they would have been top contenders for the last couple of years.  The heat have been the most underrated team the last couple of years.  They look terrible during the season then turn it on in the playoffs.  They have no superstars (yeah I'm not buying Jimmy is a superstar) but are the epitome of a full team.  Denver is set to win unless Miami can stay hot from beyond 3.  If they aren't a 3 point threat it will be tough for them to spread the floor.
Might be, there's a lot of what if if Murray would have remain healthy it might be a different Nuggets team. Nevertheless, Jokic has carried them while Murray was out and to some extend, Michael Porter Jr as well with his back spasm. So it pushes Jokic to be great even winning back to back MVPs.

But Murray is healthy and it's good that the Nuggets never traded him as coach Malone said that Murray once said to him that it's over for him when he blew his knees and that he will be traded, but he was assured that he was not now, they are in the finals. Great story but indeed they need to win this one for their franchise.
1105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which campaign is better? Bounty campaign or Signature campaign? on: June 07, 2023, 01:55:55 AM
We are a bunch of ambitious folks on a mission to revolutionize the blockchain world. Our goal is to create a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) that empowers individuals and organizations like never before. Together, we'll shape the future of blockchain technology!

We're planning a series of marketing activities, and we want your input on bounty campaigns and signature campaigns. Which one gets your heart racing? Which of these two campaigns do you think will work like magic for FireDAO within the Bitcointalk community and beyond? We trust your expertise, and we want our marketing efforts to align with your preferences and expectations.
For me, both can be utilized to be a good marketing arm for your platform, get into signature campaign first, bitcoin paying and then see how it goes for you, maybe 1-2 months.

And then shift to the bounty campaigns, regardless of what it is, twitter, signature campaign and others. This will be the second layer for your campaign. But this time, it should be longer than the bitcoin paying signature campaign and it should be big as far as the number of participants. Just get a decent manager to run it for you.
1106  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Devin Haney vs Vasiliy Lomachenco - May 20 on: June 06, 2023, 09:50:38 PM
But if Haney wanted to step up in weight to Junior Welterweight, then Bob Arum can't do anything about it anymore. Yes Shakur wanted to fight but the burden is now on Haney or at least he has the total control of the situation. That is the only fight that matters now at 135 for Haney, Shakur or Tank Davis, and maybe that is the reason why he didn't sign to Top Rank, because only Shakur will be the guarantee fight for him. After that there's none, and the Junior Welterweight has only Josh Taylor and Teo Lopez for Top Rank. So maybe Haney will go up in weight and chase other champions that has been in the control of PBC or Al Haymon.

While waiting for Shakur or Davis, why can't Haney give Loma a rematch, after all this is still a money fight for him and give the fans what thay wanted, for him to beat Loma fair and square. Avoiding the latter will only give the fans the doubt that he is afraid of Loma. For me Loma is the beatable of the three (Loma, Shakur and Davis) so his team might consider a rematch then fight Shakur if he wins, the last for this division would be a mega fight with Davis, if he does that then boxing hard core fans will give him the respect that he is longing for.
It might be that Haney is not willing to get Loma the rematch, perhaps it was the obvious, maybe at the back of the minds of Haney's they've lost the fight so no rematch for them as they might really lost in the second fight. And I think this is the same mentality as of Lopez, doesn't want to give Loma a rematch as Loma is not 100% during that fight.

But it was a disaster for him as he lost the belt to Kambosos. Anyhow, Haney might be just taking his time, to go up in weight or just Shakur or Davis, whichever can offer him more money as he is the champion.
1107  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are your bitcoin May/June price analysis? on: June 06, 2023, 09:31:56 PM
I Think bitcoin will touch down 35k$ at the end of june this was my prediction and i believe that at the end of the year bitcoin will go up above the previous ATH on year 2021 this is just a prediction but the possibility is very big since we already experience 30k$ price the bull run will surely start very soon.
Unfortunately, by the time you posted this, we haven't seen the SEC vs Binance drama. And now that we have that, in 24 hours after the news, the price goes down to $25,700.

But it seems that we have bounce back, 5% from the initial drop and it's good to see the price going back to it's norm at $27k. Or at least that is the price before the price went on the downside. But we shall see, lots of weeks for June to accomplished that $35k prediction of yours. Historically though, June seems to be a bad month, so I wouldn't be surprised if we continue to do sideways for this month.
1108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another Fud or Its Reality? BTC is Down Again on: June 06, 2023, 09:13:06 PM
It's rare that I consider price movement to be market manipulation, but with news events like this that no doubt some speculators were aware was going to happen, and now the quick reversal back to the upside, it's hard to consider the likelihood that bears tried to push the price lower, but when the low of $25.5K was reached and they were unable to push prices lower, they instead look long positions back to the upside.
Thanks for this insight, the last time I saw the price is around $25,700 and I was flabbergasted to see the price hitting $27k. So clearly there is manipulation behind by whales to pushed the price lower, maybe $25k flat.

But it didn't come, there could be speculators selling or noobs who think that the price will go down hard and then it's time for this manipulators or those who speculators to buy at a cheap price again because of this FUD.
1109  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Terrence Crawford vs Errol Spence - June 17 on: June 06, 2023, 10:20:46 AM
^^Good analysis, but still though, Spence should defend himself as his public image was affected by the negotiations earlier and everyone thinks he is the reason stalling this fight. Nevertheless, the fight is going to happen now, and nothing has change, from the said date of June, Crawford is already the favorite and now that this is finalized, bookies remain as it is.

And maybe Spence might be quiet as his training is already in full swing now. Most likely, they might have been reviewing the tapes and this coach/trainer fighting some loopholes. And the same with Crawford, although as we have said, he is going to the public more often and having interviews.
1110  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 06, 2023, 09:27:32 AM
Miami vs Nuggets.

The match between the two teams, which are equally strong, will take place on Thursday, June 8.
This will be quite an interesting match because it will bring together the holders of the 1st position in the western region and the 8th position in the eastern region.
The reason is that from the previous 2 matches they had one win each so for now the position is 1 - 1.
In Game 3 this coming Thursday I believe the Nuggets will be able to win it.
Everyone has his own prediction in game 3, the Nuggets just a slight betting favorite odds, but unlike before wherein the Heat is like 3:1 underdog. In game 3, it's around 1.8 for the Nuggets, while the Miami is 2.14.

It's going to be a phenomenal serie.
Well, everyone thought that this is going to be easy series for the Nuggets, but after game 2, it's very different game now. And if I may say, maybe we will see some shift on the momentum. This time the tide is with the Heat based on what they show in the road.
1111  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Beterbiev Vs Smith AUG 19 2023 SATURDAY IBF / WBC / WBO LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT Title on: June 03, 2023, 02:39:19 PM
Soon Beterbiev (after fight with Bivol) will be in same trap Canelo is now. There will no more opponents left to beat. I mean real opponents, real danger. Right now he is already in a situation, when no matter who his opponent is, people consider this would be an easy fight for him. To bad that he is a knockout master more than a technician. A knockout make his wins look more easy. If there will be no real thread to him in next few years, he will be forced to move to cruiserweight. Otherwise like you've said, it will be "one-sided fights" and people will start to lose interest in him. That is why I sometimes wish strong boxers to lose. To feel that taste of a loss, to find new motivation to fight, to get interest to his person back.
That is if he will ever face Bivol after this one, otherwise he will really need to move up to Cruiserweight because as you have said, nothing to fight in this division as he single handled clean up he division.

I think he will be fine in the next weight class, if my memory serves me right, him and Usyk has history in the amateurs before, and now we've seen Usyk moving from CW to HW and becoming one of the best pound for pound fighters and making huge money as well. But time is not on the side of Beterbiev though, he might have like 2-3 good years in him.

Mark Magsayo eyes September or October return in new division

Former WBC Featherweight Champion Mark Magsayo might return to the ring in September or October, and guess what, not in the 126 lbs division anymore as he seems struggling at that weight and loses twice here, against Rey Vargas and Brandon Figueroa. He will now move up to the 130 lbs division - Super Featherweight/Junior Lightweight.

The plan to move up was confirmed by MP Promotions President Sean Gibbons and Magsayo himself already tweet his desire regarding that.

Can Magsayo find his comfort zone now in the 130 lbs? The current champions here:

WBO: Emanuel Navarrete
IBF: Joe Cordina
WBA: Hector Luis Garcia
WBC: O'Shaquie Foster
It's a tough list of champions to go to for Magsayo. But if he wanted to be a champion again, sooner or later he will have to face one of those and again it's going to be very difficult for him.

Hopefully though, 130 lbs will be his most comfortable weight, no more draining before the fight and he can eat and diet whatever he can. It was a tough lost against Figueroa but I do think it has something to do with the weight though. That's why at the end of the fight, he is somewhat spent and his gas tank is empty as it might affect his conditioning of trying to squeeze his body to 126 lbs.
1113  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: $90,000 all in bet on: June 03, 2023, 06:53:38 AM
No offense to the OP but that is a big bet and if you have followed the betting history of the OP, yeah there are times that he won big, but majority is also a big lost for him.

Nevertheless, this could be a lessons for us, or just simply don't be greedy and just enjoy the winnings and maybe just live another day to bet and continue with your gambling activity. And this is what gambling is all about, you win some, you lose some.

For sure he can live with that and try his luck on the next game.
1114  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 03, 2023, 06:29:59 AM
I also like the fact that Monty Williams picked up a job within a month. Very good coach IMO. I don't know if it was his coaching or players egos in Phoenix.
I don't know what the management of the Phoenix Suns want because they have fired a great coach like Monty Williams while he was in charge the Phoenix Suns have always performed quite well in every NBA event.
But now Monty Williams has signed a new contract with the Detroit Pistons and is the most expensive coaching contract in history.
I'm sure Monty Williams can do quite well and turn the Detroit Pistons into an even greater team.
It looks like later if the Detroit Pistons can develop properly under the tutelage of Monty Williams then Phoenix will surely regret what he did for the dismissal of Monty Williams.
That's how it is though, the first casualties will be the coach because they are the face of the team and every moved the coach make really affects the team itself. Just like in this case, they have taken the risk to get Durant in return of their good players going into the Nets. And this might not set good with some of their players though, in my opinion.

And it's good to see Monty finding a new home, I think he will rebuild Detroit Pistons, it has the potential to be great, young players, just needed someone that could mentor them and bring the best of each players. For sure the future is bring for the Pistons now.
1115  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: June 03, 2023, 06:13:52 AM
I did believe that Heat actually have a chance but after first game...Denver are really a class above them in this series and on Sunday night , I think the score will be 2-0 but I do see Heat taking at least 2 games until the end.

Also, if somehow Jokic will be guarded which is almost impossible and Murray won't have a big day , Heat might get this to game 7 and that would boom the odds all over again  Grin Grin

I might have a slight different perspective to the game generally, The Nuggets were the better team obviously, individually and collectively as team, but It wasn't the Denver Nuggets defense that kept the Miami Heat at bay, but rather a really poor shooting night, while The Heat might have been force to take a number 3s, the missed way too much of them and even open mid range jump shots, Max Struss 0/9, Caleb Martin 1/7 and Jimmy Butler with only 14 shot attempts showed how disoriented the Miami Heat really were, The attempted at least 17 more shots than the Nugget and at least 12 more 3s too, but had only 2 FT attempt, that showed how unaggressive the Heat also were, they'll need to take the game to Denver aggressive and not just settle for the most open shots but rather the most likely to score ones instead.
Yeah, I do agree with your perception, not sure if this is the strategy of the Heat's team, to out shoot the Denver Nuggets, to somehow offset their height and to a certain extend their speed and their youth.

And perhaps they think that they can continue with the hot shooting they show in the last game against the Celtics. Everyone his hitting big shots that time, Struss and everyone. But it's a different story against the Nuggets in the first game, not only they shot poorly, but they also allow Jokic to post and involved his team. And then Aaron Gordon trying to be his prime version when he was still with Minnesota.
1116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Binance to delist these 12 privacy coins in these eu countries from June 26 on: June 02, 2023, 10:07:52 AM
While this is a bad news for crypto, it pushes users towards DEXes, where governments have less control.

It's very wrong mate. The government can shutdown the dex as well. Did you remember what happened with etherdelta? if you remember that and you might have seen the power that owned by government. It's very easy to shutdown it. Even the government can seize the domain if they want.

There was no other solution than being compliance with the regulation. Binance just wanna do that.
Yes, even if we say that DEX is out of the hands from the government, we are still not going to relax. There might be a time that government will go after them too specially if they grown so big that users are taking advantage of it.

Just sad to see how crypto turns out in the last 5 years as privacy coins are taking a hit. Some of us could have been using for it's purpose, not necessarily to hide from tax or what the government thinks we are into this privacy coins. We just want to remain private and anonymous, that's it.
1117  Economy / Speculation / Re: Just how bad is the bear demand right now on: June 02, 2023, 09:13:40 AM
The crypto market now is highly illiquid. Hard to say if we are still in a bear market, we are either in bull or neutral. However after Ftx and all those market makers going bust there is low liquidity.

You don’t need to be a whale anymore to move the market pretty much. Look at the M5 charts and look at all the crazy wicks we are getting. They also differ depending on what exchange you are looking at.
Technically though we are still in the bear market, although since the OP had this thread in January, it's the start of what we call a recovery because in that month alone, the price goes up to 40% or more.

But I do agree that the influence of at least whales can simply move the market as what they have been doing years ago, maybe prior to 2017 bull run. The market now is very big and open that it will take whales to collude with each other to either move the price to either direction.
1118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An Intriguing article: How to Perfect Your Gambling Strategy on: June 02, 2023, 08:29:39 AM
I don't know, but it seems that it just make things complicated for gambler though? I mean if you have lost so much money in a day or two so I guess the best options is just to stop right there and don't play anymore.

No need to write your best or whatnot, although we an see that on sports betting, there will be a historical bet that we put already and maybe we can look at it and see how it goes. But then again, you will be good if you have a total control of your budget and your emotions in gambling.
1119  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 5 Behavioural signs that suggest you are Addicted to Gambling on: June 02, 2023, 07:55:36 AM
As gambling addiction can be a challenging issue that can have a very harmful impact on an individual's life. it is always recommended to find a professional helpb rather struggling with it. Do you agree with those behaviours? If not then you can suggest some, that can be added to this topic.
Yeah, worst is that you might be taking a loan or have to take steps to produce money when you don't have it in your hand just to continue with your gambling. I remember that there was a thread here wherein the someone sold his property that he inherited from this father or a individual kidnapping his own grand kid for ransom just to continue with his gambling addictions.

So there are still a lot of behaviors that we might not yet learn from the minds of a gambling addict. And they will do everything they think is "right" or order to fuel their gambling activity. For them it is justified and logical, but for most of us, it's the emotions of a addict that is taking over them.
1120  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you support bitcoin as Global reserve currency? on: June 02, 2023, 12:33:39 AM
Although I would say that bitcoin is everything what a pure definition of a global reserved currency.

And then it has it's volatility which might not sit well with the world government and the economies. So as much as we bitcoiners want it to become a global reserved, I doubt that it will just be as easy as that.

Remember that there are a lot of digital money, i.e. central bank digital currency (CBDC), so most likely it there will be one, it will be a consensus CBDC and not bitcoin.
