1201  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: The google search results for "1XBit Review" are quite shocking... on: July 17, 2022, 06:52:03 AM
If you search on Google for "1XBit Review" this is the first thing you see:
~Snipped~
And Google should be careful about doing what they're doing
the one to blame here are sites that give them fake reviews and fake testimonials, they are the one manipulating the search results.
Depending on "a few things", each user tends to get different results on Google, so I think we should also blame their hosting provider [internet.bs] for allowing such platforms to continue their operation for a very long time [considering that it has scammed a lot of users, I'm sure some of them have already sent reports to its hosting provider]!

Code:
Registrar Abuse Contact Email: abuse@internet.bs
Registrar Abuse Contact Phone: +1.5163015301

I wonder what they deem as a fake review.
~Snipped~
I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same thing with trust pilot.
They can't disclose everything for obvious reasons, but they did mention one of the things their "fraud detection software" checks is IP addresses and there's also a team of "analysts" involved.
- More information.
1202  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-07-14] JPMorgan Says Bitcoin Cost of Production May Be Down to $13,000 on: July 16, 2022, 09:10:53 AM
"Bitcoin’s cost of production has dropped from about $24,000 at the start of June to around $13,000 now, which may be seen as a negative for pricing, according to JPMorgan Chase & Co.
Not sure if I'm missing something, but assuming that their calculations are correct, why having a lower production cost than its current value in the market is "seen as a negative for pricing" while there's still enough room for profits?

They also say it could be seen as an obstacle to price gains."
Can someone explain to me how it could "directly" have a negative impact on price gains?
1203  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Which hardware wallet to buy? on: July 16, 2022, 05:16:49 AM
It got me thinking though, is the fee when you transfer onto ledger from an exchange always the same for a specific crypto or does the fee change depending on something?
Yes and No... Some of the exchanges have fixed withdrawal fees [they tend to overcharge] while others have dynamic fees [e.g. based on network fees and other stuff] in place, so it heavily depends on the platform as opposed to a certain type of HW/SW wallet [except for internal transfers on their respective platforms].
1204  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Get your coins out of Coinify ASAP on: July 15, 2022, 01:08:51 PM
The biggest issue is that it is no longer in their hands. They filed for bankruptcy protection. The courts and others now have a lot of control over what happens. Coinify can be a separate owned entity that is 100% solvent and profitable. But if the judge or whoever decides to close it or sell it or change the way it operates pending a deep audit or whatever else then that is what happens. It can also be a self fulfilling prophecy. Even if Coinify is fine, now that people begin to stop using it because of this it will start to shrink and loose clients and money and then......
I wasn't looking at the situation from that perspective [thank you for the detailed explanation]... None of these scenarios look good.
- Someone posted a "small update" for Voyager users a couple of days ago, but I'm not sure if I should classify it as good or bad news [I'm disregarding the title].

Why betray the very idea of Bitcoin, which is to be your own bank? Is there a point to even investing in Bitcoin if all you do is the same as you did with your fiat?
Unfortunately, most of the new investors don't have the slightest clue about such things... They tend to associate BTCitcoin with the phrase "to the moon" [SMH]!

I wonder what really is happening on Crypto space.
Mismanaged platforms are looking for a new path at the expense of their users [unfortunately].

If this is true, it is likely that Coinify is unaffected by the bankruptcy filing.
After reading @DaveF's comment, I'm going to retract the latter part of my previous comment.

How would you make Bitcointalk better if you were the Boss ?
In addition to other comments, I'd do the following things:

  • Add "list of topics link" to "Additional Information" part of our profiles
  • Add more sub-boards, even if there aren't enough threads to fill up the entire page.
  • More local boards.
  • An undo button [I don't think I'm the only one who has deleted certain posts by mistake].
  • An algorithm that helps in picking/delisting merit sources every month [it might come in handy in covering more ground].

  • How come the number of "clients that trust you" is higher than the number of total exchanges made on your platform [normally, it should be the other way around]?
    - Did you get that number from multiple review platforms?
  • Am I correct in assuming that your "reserve table" is outdated?
    - Apart from bank transfers, none of them seem to appear as an option under the receiving field!
  • You might want to edit the following part on your FAQ page:
1207  Local / Pamilihan / Re: ASJ Global Legit or Scam? on: July 14, 2022, 03:04:07 PM

1208  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Square is considering making a hardware wallet for Bitcoin on: July 14, 2022, 11:05:02 AM
And still no information about recovery.
She did mention that their hexagonal shape HW components are part of the recovery process in case someone loses their phone [at 14:51], but I'm going to argue that it's a lot easier to lose those tiny HW components than the phone itself!
1209  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Which hardware wallet to buy? on: July 14, 2022, 04:00:43 AM
I have 9,000 Gala - does anyone know if there is a way of transferring these onto my Ledger from Coinbase?
Despite having limited knowledge in regards to altcoins in general, I don't think the process is different from "sending any erc20 token from Coinbase" to other wallets [just copy your address from LL]! In case you're worried that it's not showing up on the list of supported coins, "here's a confirmation" from one of their staff and if you follow the instructions from "this page", you'll be able to see it on "another list".
1210  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [LIST] Wallets supporting Taproot on: July 13, 2022, 04:37:49 PM
Just found another mobile lightning wallet [Zeus] that "recently announced" they've added support for Taproot addresses.
- The only catch is it requires using "LND v0.15+"!

Update:
Thank you for posting suggestion SFR10, list is updated.
You're very welcome Smiley
1211  Local / Pamilihan / Re: ASJ Global Legit or Scam? on: July 13, 2022, 02:03:17 PM
Yan ba ang tinutukoy mo kabayan or iba?
1212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Create Taproot address for your Bitcoin on: July 13, 2022, 09:31:23 AM
I made a "short post [regarding their Android app]" in the past when "Nunchuk" introduced it, but here's a detailed version for their desktop app:

  • Add new wallet > Click the dropdown menu for "Advanced: Address Type" and choose Taproot > Key Setup

  • Add a New Key > HW key/SW key > Write down your seed phrases > Confirm your Seed > Name your key > Set a passphrase > Run health check > Confirm & close

  • While your key is selected, click "Assign to wallet", then increase the number for "Required signers" > Click "Next: Review Wallet"

  • Review everything, then click "Create Wallet" > Save "wallet configuration file [BSMS file]"

Btw, it's worth noting that the steps you've posted for Bitcoin Core, also apply to "Bitcoin Knots [a modified version of Bitcoin Core]".
1213  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Which hardware wallet to buy? on: July 12, 2022, 06:38:31 PM
‘Please only send ETH or Ethererum tokens to Ethereum accounts. Sending other crypto assets may result in the permanent loss of funds.’

So I am not sure , at first it sounds like I can send Quant to Ethereum account but then the second statement makes it sound like only ETH can be sent to ethereum account.
When you search for Quant on "this page" and hover over the "More details" text, the link at the bottom left corner shows "erc20"!
- The following link might come in handy: MANAGE ERC20 TOKENS

Is Quant classed as an Ethereum token?
Here you go!

and these 12 Quant I have will be worth thousands in the future
I wouldn't be so sure about that!
1214  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What wallets I can use to get Segwit and Taproot addresses? on: July 12, 2022, 06:17:49 AM
because as stated in this thread, only Bitcoin Core and Ledger wallet support Taproot addresses at the moment.
There are definitely more than a couple of wallets with support for such addresses... In addition to @SquirrelJulietGarden's list, you can find a few more names from "this list [refer to 4th and 5th columns]".
1215  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance Registers as a Digital Assets Service Provider in Spain on: July 11, 2022, 03:35:17 PM
To be clear, they have only applied but not yet approved, right? They are waiting for the regularization or the approval of their registration as a Digital Assets Service provider, correct?
I was also confused by their choice of words, but as it stands, they've already got the license to act as a VASP in Spain.

But there will be such time that CZ will be so powerful, just saying.
Judging by their current market share, they're already powerful enough and that's not a good thing!

1216  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: White-label and Low-Cost Anonymous Crypto API Payment Gateway - AnonWallet.Net on: July 11, 2022, 01:32:06 PM
Auto Forward Received Payments
If someone overpays, is the refund process also covered by the 1% fee that you charge for incoming payments [+ another 1% for auto forwarding], or do we have to do that after receiving everything [1% fee + 1% fee + another TX fee]?

Current network fees
Bitcoin BTC - 0.0004
~Snipped~
May I know which platform you're using to estimate network fees [you're "overestimating" it]?

Care to explain why you have misleading stats on your website [it shrank, but I still don't believe those stats]?

1217  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: I need your suggestions, Project:Coin Crypto Price on: July 11, 2022, 11:46:46 AM
The date we use or API is from coingecko https://www.coingecko.com/en/api
Are you sure your developer is using a single API only? I'm not a developer by any means, but perhaps he/she is using multiple APIs without noticing a conflict in certain parts and that might be the reason for inaccurate data...
- The issue that I reported last month in regards to BTCitcoin value still exists!

First, the charts on the coin page, they are completely useless and non-functional.
Have you tried checking it with different browsers?
- I didn't encounter any issues in Chrome.
1218  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Show off your hardware wallet on: July 11, 2022, 10:05:57 AM
will include an NFT of some sort. Roll Eyes
and for this it is trying to stimulate buyers with the help of nft bonus.
I have limited knowledge in regards to NFTs as a whole, but IIRC, the POAP NFT that came with the genesis edition of the S Plus had restrictions or rather wasn't made to be like a regular NFT, so I think the same would probably apply to this one as well [I don't think they'll be able to easily sell it]!

The Nano S Plus seems better to me than the X if it weren't for the missing support for a whole bunch of assets.
I agree with you... Even though "they've fixed most of it", I'm still surprised to see a couple of apps are still missing after roughly 4 months!

Considering that only a few users have posted so far, perhaps it's time to find them from other threads:

1219  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: A phishing site for all kinds of wallets on: July 10, 2022, 04:10:18 PM
The site describes itself (lies of course):
~Snipped~
Did plagiarism check on that part and it led to another similar website (syncconnect.org), but it asks users to scan a certain QR code instead... After that, I did the same for all of their offered services and that led to a bunch of other scam platforms (reconnectmyapp.com [their scam page isn't configured properly], daapreconnect.com and hrouvr.com [it also shows an error that forces users to connect manually])!
1220  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Don't use Bitswap.kr on: July 10, 2022, 02:21:45 PM
I started a new exchange because the old one was completed for me but the new exchange from BTC to XMR is still not processing since 24-06-2022.

I tried to contact the support several times from different email adresses but there's no reaction.
After visiting their "How it works" page, it's quite clear that they're just an exchange/swap aggregator, so you should try contacting the platforms that are listed as their partners [even though they're clearly lying about having a partner] and see if they have anything to do with the swap in question.
Note: I'm not implying that I'm ruling out the possibility of them being a bunch of scammers!
