1461  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: June 08, 2022, 02:10:49 AM
The .xyz site has fallen from it's perch atop google's search results.  The fake "dark net" site has claimed that spot.  Still no sign of chipmixer.com on the front page, but at least chipmixer's profile here on the forum is now the 4th result.  That's an improvement.

1464  Economy / Reputation / Re: Meriting Your Alt is no more Merit Abuse? on: June 07, 2022, 09:59:39 PM
My accountant wanted  me to have a separate account here if and when I sell gear this year.

Well, I reckon your accountant knows way more about your tax situation than I do.  I'm just going by my (meager) knowledge of California LLC laws.  I had one some years ago when I owned a gun-shop.  The LLC and the gunshop had different names (one was a DBA,) and I made a bunch of on-line sales on GunBroker with my personal account.  Of course firearms are tracked by serial numbers so if there was ever an issue (there wasn't) I could have used my bound-book to retrace personal vs. business sales.

My 1 merit to  my alt is allowed and If you go back and look I specifically discussed it when merits were started.

I'm sure it's fine, I don't think anyone here believes you're trying to cheat.  If it's for posting photos and such, you can always buy a copper membership.  That will allow you to have the same signature as a "Member" rank (IIRC) and post photos.  Here's the link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote
1465  Economy / Reputation / Re: Meriting Your Alt is no more Merit Abuse? on: June 07, 2022, 08:41:35 PM
So I formed an LLC and I want to be able to show the USA government  that I exist as an LLC. This means I do not want to do all my posts here as philipma1957

Kind of off topic, so I'll be brief; I don't think that's necessary; you can have an LLC and a DBA (doing business as) at the same time, and they don't need to named identically.  As far the IRS is concerned they just want to make sure that you've accounted for (and paid tax on) all of the proceeds generated by your business.  If they see lots and lots of money flowing through your accounts that have not been disclosed on your tax forms, they start to get suspicious.  As long as you're paying taxes on the money that's claimed as taxable income, they don't care about much else.

I also would love to shut the cellphone and vacation  accounts down as I can't access them anyway.

There's no way to delete or remove those accounts, and if you don't have the login credentials any longer then they are effectively shutdown.  If you're concerned that someone may be able to hack the accounts at some point, it may be a good idea to use your philipma1957 account to tag them with a neutral or even a red tag to warn others that they were your accounts and aren't being use any longer.

ETA:  To this point: You can ask theymos to lock the accounts to prevent any login.  If I'm not mistaken he's done this before.
1466  Other / Archival / Re: 500 € loan urgent on: June 07, 2022, 07:50:52 PM
if the collateral is the same as the amount the lender is lending  then why  would you feel scammed ?
just sell the collateral and you have your money back simple

How would a lender sell something that is not his possession?  You already said you're not willing to ship the video card to anyone for a €500 loan:

explain me why i would ship a 1500-2000 € videocard for a 500 € loan ?

and then when i pay off my loan they don't sent it back to me and i lost my videocard

no thanks

How would a lender not get scammed if you still have the video card and decide not to pay the loan?  Many of the reputable lenders on this board, on the other hand, have a business and reputation to maintain.  Even though they are anonymous they have proven themselves to be responsible and trustworthy with far more money than the value of your video card.

Another thing that you should keep in mind; you're the one asking for something, not the lenders.  No one here is forcing you to send collateral, just like no one here is obligated to give you a loan.  There's no forum policy requiring lenders to give a loan to every scammy newbie who shows up demanding one.  And it does seem like you are demanding one.
1467  Economy / Reputation / Re: Meriting Your Alt is no more Merit Abuse? on: June 07, 2022, 06:02:16 PM
I want to preface this post by saying that I think it's wrong to send merit to your own alt account.  We can't merit our own posts (I think, I've never tried) so we shouldn't be meriting our own posts regardless of how many accounts we use to make posts.

But, is this really merit abuse?  I haven't spent any time digging into the post that was sent 2 merits (it's been deleted and I don't have the time right now,) but I found something interesting about this post that was sent one merit:

Two days after philipma1957 made that post using his alt account, someone made a post questioning whether that was really philipma1957 or a scammer:

~

Are you seriously using a different account for your cell phone or are you a scammer?

If the former, WTF.

In the matter of 1 minute and 50 seconds philipma1957 sent 4 merits in that thread, one each to 4 posts, as you can see here:

And this post in the same thread confirms what I originally suspected:

basically the cellphone is used to prevent a crowbar attack when I drive around
and the laptop is used to prevent a crowbar attack when I go to the farm in Clifton

I just gave the cellphone account a merit to confirm it is me.

Again, I'm not condoning this as a way to confirm your alts, but it seems rather obvious that is what philipma1957 meant to do.  It also seems rather obvious that philipma1957 is not trying to game the system.  Abuse of the merit system doesn't seem to be happing here.  Misuse maybe, but that can easily be solved by educating philipma1957 that this use of the merit system is frowned upon.

I saw a lot of drama in this forum regarding meriting alt accounts.

And you decided to make some more!

Maybe he's legitimately curious if it's safe to use his previous account to merit his newbie account...   Cheesy
1468  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Sweep not working (p2wpkh-p2sh prefix) on: June 06, 2022, 03:22:22 PM
I will try to do a factory reset of Armory and perhaps that will solve the problem.

Kind of a mute point now, but that's an interesting error you were getting.  You mentioned the version of Electrum you are using, are you using the latest release of Armory?  I haven't used Armory wallet in quite some time, and don't plan to but I would be interested to know if you are able to figure this out.

Kudos to our resident fixer, o_e_l_e_o for figuring it out.
1469  Other / Archival / Re: 500 € loan urgent on: June 06, 2022, 01:36:18 PM
i can videoproof  my rtx 3090   that's not a problem however why would i need to sent a 4 times total amount of my loan to someone ?

I can take a video of two GPUs in my main PC, and 6 more in my mining server.  Videos and photos of expensive items are really really nice, but unfortunately they don't make good collateral because photos of expensive items are worthless.  Even a really pretty video of a really pretty GPU won't mean anything to a lender when (not if) you scam him.

an equal amount of value collateral should be enough i feel

You're entitled to your feelings.  And since we're sharing our feelings; I feel like your a scammer and a troll.  The higher the value of the collateral, the less likely a scammer is willing to part with it.  Starting to find a little bit of logic in these words?  Or are you such a narcissist that you can't possibly see how that would benefit you?

i put this out there to get a possible higher loan  so  that 3090rtx is only for getting higher loan  amount

More none-collateral is still a not-a-loan.

I don't know Magneto, but I've had a fair number of run-ins with BitcoinGirl.Club.  She's a cool person and I doubt that she would be cheating the system, even if she thought she could get away with it.  It's also worth noting that she's a mother, and if you search her post history you can see that she took a break from the forum around this time last year.  A quick search of Magneto's post history would show that he did not.  There's nothing to see here.
1471  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: June 05, 2022, 05:06:28 PM
I think you are missing a whole month somewhere, i counted 13 weeks. Yeah, September 2nd/3rd would be ideal for a draft.

Lol.  Yes, you're right, 13 weeks.  Damn, I had myself all syched up for the season...

It will be awesome if can bring everyone from last season and hopefully a few more additions. I'm not volunteering to manage the league, i've done my time being a commish (used to co-manage some fantasy basketball leagues in the early 2010s), and besides South Park did an excellent job.

South Park did do a great job, hopefully he's willing to serve as manager again.  I know it's early, but it would be cool to get an early start so we can all chime in on league configurations and what-not.  So, I'm tagging all the participants from last year, and ChiBitCTy who I know was interested.

01. Hueristic
02. suchmoon
03. wheelz1200
04. nutildah
05. bbc.reporter
06. South Park
07. morvillz7z
08. ChiBitCTy
09. DireWolfM14
10. <this can be you>
11. <this can be you>
12. <this can be you>

This probably doesn't need to be said, but if we're going to invite others from around the forum let's not invite anyone with legitimate red-tags (or their suspected alts,) and I would just as soon impose that limitation on anyone who volunteers.

Don't fall for this bullshit.  Be careful of vile rats who may contact you via PM also claiming they can help.  They can't do anything, and will expect you to share your money with them in case your funds are recovered.  That's all these greedy rats want.
1473  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: June 05, 2022, 04:09:41 PM
We should probably start talking about the new forum league in the upcoming weeks, as training camps approach, pre-season is set for the first week of August.

The fantasy draft happens right before the regular season, right?  I guess we have a little time, regular season kickoff is on September 8th, which is a little more 9 weeks away.  If we want to schedule the draft for the last weekend before the regular season, that'll be Friday September 2, and Saturday September 3rd.

gotta see where we stand with players, it would be great if we can expand from 8 to at least 10, preferably 12...maybe switch from ESPN to Yahoo, and tweak some of the old settings, etc.

I'm good with all of that, 12 teams would be pretty cool.  We already have 9 (assuming all members from last year are interested.)  I can reach out to Nutildah, hopefully he'll join us again.  Are you volunteering to manage the league this year?  Cheesy

1474  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Waste of bitcoin addresses on: June 05, 2022, 12:50:00 PM
Guys, isn't creating a new address for every new transaction a huge waste of addresses? I know there are a lot of them and maybe we won't use them all and there's that thing of 'privacy', but common, every time I receive a payment (android bitcoin wallet) a new address is created and it really annoys me a lot to use an address for 1-3$ and then be wasted forever.

A hierarchical deterministic has generated the seed to create your address tree, so any "new" address it generates for you is already part of your wallet.  There's no way those addresses can be part of another wallet, they either get used by you or they'll never be used.  The only "waste" would be to not use them.  It's not as if your use of them makes them unavailable to others, by having created that wallet those addresses are now and always will be available only to you.

Hi! I urgently need 500 USDT to participate in the bybit contest to win 20 usd. Until 23:59 UTC 8 june 2022

Just a few days ago you urgently needed $1, now it's $500?  If you're so broke that you need to scrounge for a single dollar, who in their right minds would lend your $500?  How on earth do you plan on paying that back?  And, all so you can participate in a contest to win $20?  Instead of placing all your hopes on winning 20 measly dollars or wasting your time begging for handouts on the internet, why don't you try getting a job?

1478  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Need help to get everything to work on Windows 10 machine on: June 04, 2022, 02:39:15 PM
Like o_e_l_e_o said, you're only complicating things for yourself trying to get so many things to work at the same time.  Lets take it one step at a time.

Please keep in mind, my only experience with an Electrum server is running ElectrumX on an ubuntu server.  My main computer is a Windows PC, but I find it easier to have bitcoin core and Electrumx running on a remote (in the closet under my stair well) machine.  EPS may be slightly different, but the basics should be the same.

Bitcoin Core configuration;
Your bitcoind.conf file can be found here: C:\Users\<your-user-name>\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin\.  Or, open Bitcoin Core QT (the gui,) click on Settings, then on "Main" tab, click on "Open Configuration File."

Make sure bitcoin core is listening for incoming connections, and configured for Electrum's requirements by adding these lines:
Code:
listen=1
txindex=1
dbcache=2048
prune=0

You may also need to enable RPC server, which by default will allow RPC commands from the localhost:
Code:
server=1

Try those settings in your bitcoin.conf file and see if that helps.  Also keep in mind that it may take EPS some time to synchronize with bitcoin core.  The last time I installed ElectrumX without a backup it needed 36 hours to synch.

ETA:

I just found this on the EPS instructions page for Windows:
server = 1
rpcallowip=<IP of PC with Electrum Personal Server>
rpcbind=<IP of Bitcoin Core node>
rpcauth = <user>:some-hash-string

Set both rpcallowip and rpcbind to localhost or 127.0.0.1.

For the rpcauth hash you'll need to run the rpcauth.py with your preferred username.  You'll need Python3 installed on your windows machine, and you can run it from Powershell.  It can be found in the bitcoin master, here: https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/tree/master/share/rpcauth

Quote
usage: rpcauth.py [-h] username [password]

Create login credentials for a JSON-RPC user

positional arguments:
  username    the username for authentication
  password    leave empty to generate a random password or specify "-" to
              prompt for password

optional arguments:
  -h, --help  show this help message and exit

Well then you should be the one to STFU and go somewhere else because clearly you are not some whale or even in the peanut gallery.. If you only know how to read properly, then you won't be talking nonsense.

Did I tell you STFU?  No, I didn't.  Did I claim to be a whale?  No, I didn't.  I asked you to prove that you're legit or stop trying to scam people here.  I can't force you to do either, but I guarantee you that you'll get nowhere with this thread as it is.  It seems rather obvious that none of us are taking your request seriously, only you can change that.  Getting butthurt over it isn't going to help.
