Well, he could be winning an Oscar next month... It's tough to be underrated when you win one of those!

Nicolas Cage has been nominated?

Edit, oh Jared Leto haha. Was gonna say. Not seen his performance for whatever it was, but he deserves some recognition.
17042  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [POLL] How would you describe yourself politically? on: January 12, 2014, 01:46:15 PM
Here's a politics poll I can get along with  Grin

Now, who wants to explain the difference between Libertarian and Liberal?

Ok, well, many years ago, Liberal was synonymous with what Libertarians believe now, which is personal, social freedom, extremely low taxation, shackles on the government with most things out-of-bounds for them, only specific things were allowed to be in their purview, moral questions were left up to citizens. Libertarians believe that with less law, everyone is better off, because we can provide for our community, family, friends, even the world, as long as the government just doesn't get in the way.

Nowadays (at least in the US) Liberal now means Progressive: the earmarks of which are non-enforcement of social or religious based laws (not repeal thereof) anti-capitalist stances such as heavy taxation or regulation of the rich, every manner and scope of government programmes such as; food for the poor, cell phones for the poor, pensions for those in the public service,  reduced price housing for the poor , lower electricity prices for the poor, better loan rates for the poor (or "disadvantaged")
As well as forced unionization, or any program that increases the scope, power or enforcement mechanism of the state, increased regulation of any business, endeavor, or anything really.

So: If a person was up on trial for dealing marijuana:
A Liberal would say that the judge should let him off, or remand him to a government sponsored detox facility.
A Libertarian would say, This is wrong, there is no reason that he should be on trial in the first place, we need to allow people to make out own choices of what to put in our body.

Basically the Liberal is very similar to a Marxist be default, although many of them would disagree until they read Marx.
A Libertarian would generally agree with Ayn Rand.

That seems about right, but your last sentence is a bit of a generalisation. There are many different schools of thought regarding Libertarianism (which is an incredibly broad word anyway). Also Americans/the media propaganda machine seem to tend to pervert what the definitions of political stances are. Like the media goes on about Socialism as if it's akin to fascism or something and that Socialists just want to give all your money to the poor etc.

Check out Chomsky on 'Libertarianism' and its perverse American definition of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxbeyn2xMQE

As Far as Ethics go, that is where I lean conservative (not politically, but in personal life) If you read enough source documents from the early American years, you will find that the "Founding Fathers" believed very strongly that we must have a moral society based on a belief in a God that will judge their actions.

Now we don't have so much of that anymore, people want to say they are religious, but don't actually believe their own Holy Book really is the truth... that leaves people to have to split their social and religious views into a contradictory position (see Bill O'Rielly and his book "Killing Jesus")

I wonder how people can say that they don't believe the book of Genesis is a lie, can still say that Evolution happened, but since that seems to be the majority opinion, obviously they are Ok with that glaring contradiction, or can read the Old Testament and then claim that God wouldn't discriminate.

Anyhow, personally, I believe in an All-Powerful God who will judge everyone, has His own opinions (what I call Righteousness) and expectations of us. I may not know a whole big bunch of technical facts about God, but I do know that.

So, that means I have to keep in touch with what He wants for me, and I think others should as well (I honestly wouldn't want the most powerful being in the Universe being mad at you either)

But, if you just decided that there is no God, then there are no standard, and no system of government can provide freedom or equality, because it will simply go back to being wholly about "looking out for #1" and therefore without political power or wealth to purchase it, your gonna get shafted.

Did they? I think you should maybe do some more research on that or delve a little deeper. http://www.britannica.com/blogs/2007/02/the-us-founding-fathers-their-religious-beliefs/

That's why most religious people are hypocrites and make up their own rules to play by.

I think there is only one 'technical fact' about god. How do you or anybody keep in touch with what god wants you or us to do?

Sounds like an abusive relationship.

17043  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Deutsche eMark falling down...why? on: January 12, 2014, 01:29:37 PM
People are dumping  Grin

On Cryptsy was very strange buy-sell movement...like somebody was selling and right next buying in very small profit...and this started all this proces, that people are scared. Could make this just like one, or very few people? What is next...is worth invest there or keep away from DEM? Im ready invest there like on 0,00010...what can be in few days in this panic selling, I think,DEM is not lost, DEM will rise soon sharply again.

I think you really need to make your own judgement when making trading decisions and not rely on advise from others.

DEM is, at the end of the day, just another alt coin that is not really needed  Wink

OK, how come, that people like Doge, CAT...etc... coin and not nomething, what is much more serius...like for ex. DEM.... not needed, well...yes, we dont need 1000 000 new coins with stupid names, but still...DEM has serius roots...my opinion of course.

Because people are idiots and like gimmicks. They also think they can get rich quick of these pump and dump crapcoins.
17044  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coinye - NEWBIE questions. on: January 12, 2014, 01:27:01 PM
Aint there a legality question about k.west coin? i recall reading some news that West hired some lawers to deal with that coin. So to be honest, i think its a crytpocurrency without future... Coin which is made for k.west fans will suffer when West will make a speech about how much he hates it.

It's not a Kanye West Coin though. It's Coinye West. The lawyers are probably just sending out cease and desist letters trying to scare the devs. Don't see what legal grounds they have to stop it.

17045  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New here on: January 12, 2014, 01:22:52 PM
i thought it was just 'get 10 posts'?

Nope, one post and a four hour wait. Further details can be found in the newbie readme.
17046  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Enthusiastic about Bitcoin but not so much Bernanke on: January 12, 2014, 01:20:16 PM
Bernanke's word isn't gospel, nor should it influence your friends or own opinion without looking at all the facts and evidence. What makes you think Bernake has his "fingers in the pie"? Regardless of that, I should think any intelligent person should be endorsing Bitcoin, or at least admit that it's a good idea.

Bitcoin is slowly gaining traction, but it's probably going to be a long journey to even semi-mainstream adoption, but I think It's also inevitable that Wall Street and Banksters and greedy capitalists will get involved eventually, but does it really matter? They don't own it; everybody does. This is a peoples' currency, but it's also a revolutionary idea and very new concept, so you cannot say for certain what will happen in the future. Only time will tell, but I'm banking on it.

Sorry if i overstep the mark as a newbie but I know I know I am not the only one concerned about Bernanke's endorsement. Whilst

And you don't have to apologise for anything. This is one of the better first newb posts I've seen.

Currently I am going to provide escrow for few popular coins but can add more if people will ask.

Ah, ok. Have you advertised in the alt coin section? Prepare to be bombarded with offers to hold onto some ridiculously named coins though  Grin.

Great stuff, loose a coin, loose all your cards.

You cold say that about your wallet.
17049  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how can pay with bitcoin on overstock? on: January 12, 2014, 12:47:04 PM
how can pay with bitcoin on overstock, i  gistered at overstock when I checked out, there was no option to pay with bitcoins!

Are you in the USA? If you're not that might be why as it's not been implemented worldwide yet.
17050  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Deutsche eMark falling down...why? on: January 12, 2014, 12:45:48 PM
Im new here...let me ask you please...like 3 weeks ago I invested some money to DEM. I realy liked idea, bring back currency Mark. In last few days is this coin going soo sharply down, that makes me ask you guys with better knowleage, why is this movement for this soo many people liked coin? I read, many reviews, that this coin is setup good, has future, has progress...etc...but is going sharply down, like almost no others major coins. Why is this? Could possible somebody make huge profit in this, buy cheap coins very soon?  Roll Eyes

Don't believe the hype. What are people basing their opinion on? Usually when people big up a coin it's because they have an invested interest in it.
17051  Other / Off-topic / Re: Anybody seen this COIN ??? on: January 12, 2014, 12:33:52 PM
Yeah, they should have named it "Card".

Yeah haha. At least that'd be better than just 'coin'. Lazy name really. they could've come up with something snazzy. I mean, even 'multicard' or something would be better.
17052  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Legal Marihuana banking problems - solution, bitcoin on: January 12, 2014, 12:06:09 PM
Just saw this...scary...

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/01/12/us/banks-say-no-to-marijuana-money-legal-or-not.html?_r=0

I understand how the complex mess of law and regulation could lead to this, but what's the solution?

Duhh...

Apparently they're already accepting Bitcoin in Colorado for this: http://www.cryptonews.biz/colorado-pot-shops-do-1-million-in-cash-or-bitcoin-on-first-day-of-business/

Bitcoin was made for things like this.

Well, yeah.  I mean, if I was a federally regulated bank in Colorado and my regs prevented me from doing business with the LEGAL pot seller, I'd RECOMMEND he do bitcoin...

Hopefully more of these businesses or dispensaries will also see the positives of accepting and dealing in Bitcoin. I think this could be an industry where Bitcoin can really blossom and bloom.

'Coin'? Bit of a shit and confusing name for it haha, but does seem like a good idea (unless there's any security flaws or whatnot).

Is this kind of thread reportable?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=384594.0

It's in the wrong section, so probably. But then again, around half of the threads in the newb section are, so I don't know how productive it will be to keep reporting them daily, and also whether the mods will get pissed off with all the "in the wrong section" reports that come flooding in constantly.

I don't think there is such a thing as too many reports. Seems the real problem in that situation would be 'not enough mods'.

I could report threads in there all day but I can only imagine that it'll eventually get annoying to somebody. The newbie section does seem to be neglected at times, but as you said it's expected to be a messy mishmash, and I guess you guys have better things to do. Have you considered bitpop's moderator application then? Grin.

Will you deal with all the alt coins?
17056  Other / Off-topic / Re: Movie Recommendation Station on: January 12, 2014, 11:36:56 AM
Yeah, and Cage's trifecta of action films in the mid 90s was pretty fun! Face/Off, The Rock and Con Air... I like all of them for different reasons.

I liked Con Air and think it's a pretty decent flick, but The Rock was so-so. The Weatherman is my favourite Cage film, but I haven't seen much of his earlier work or his Oscar Winning (lol) performance.
Lord of War was also good, IMO best Cage movie of the last 10 years.

Cage had a run of good films in the early 2000s from Con Air onwards. He hit a bit of a streak from 2003-04 with Matchstick Men, National Treasure (good fun), Lord of War and ending with The Weatherman (my favourite), but then he did The Wickerman and shat all over his career with his next films.

Agreed, very solid film with an interesting backstory. Jared leto was pretty good in it, too!

Jared Leto is such an under-appreciated actor (and also musician IMO). Doesn't get the credit he deserves.

No answer yet to my question, so im just going to ask again Smiley

Is the 50 activity requirement only for new people or also for people who are already signed up for the promotion?

It will include everyone, if you have under 50 activity please remove the signature after January 17th. You will still be eligible for the Jan 17th payout though.

Fortunately, Primedice 3 will be coming out shortly after the 17th and will include an affiliate program for members with lower activity to use.

Can we put the affiliate link in our sigs now or are they not actively working yet?

How much we get from affiliate links?

I'm not sure. I'm positive Stunna will reveal all the details of that soon.

I am new in bitcoin, How much will transaction fees eventually be? To send or recive coins?

Same as they are now i think? i dont see a reason they will change

They will and already have changed. They have to change with the value of BTC or it will become unprofitable to mine.

Hi there,
thanks for the reply and for the list.
I want to trade molecule coin https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=371576.0

Might be best looking in the alt coin section then. With all these coins popping up daily it'll be hard to find a trusted escrow who deals with a specific currency. Might be best for somebody to start a trusted escrow list for altcoins.
