1821  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 21, 2016, 10:23:57 PM
I have a B10 11.85Th S9 running original firmware (File System Version Mon Jul 11 18:23:27 CST 2016) could I use the "Generate Archive" button to save a copy of the firmware? Has anyone ever used the Generate Archive button?

Im a bit apprehensive to press it without checking here first seeing as I've got all my BTC tided up in it.

no, it does not do anything, really. It will save the file on the desktop, that's it.
You cannot update it back (rollback from another firmware verssion) from that archive, I tried.
Maybe it could update your pool settings if you changed them, etc.
The archive function has always only backed up the miners settings eg, pool info and such, so you don't have to renter the info if the miner is reset. Why in their Infinite Wisdom BM doesn't also have it backup the firmware -- who knows...

Crap. Was going to try the autotune nonsense to get the BMminer v2 instead of the v1. But cant risk if I cant roll it back as I need the freq set low and the fans minimal. Never mind. Thanks for the info guys. Always a pleasure.

Only 2FA app I know of is Google Authenticator. But if its not on your phone then I doubt it will have the information stored when you do download it again.

R4's are available on Bitmain. Get them while they last: https://shop.bitmain.com/main.htm?lang=en

I'd love to have one, but can't afford it at the moment, I'm trying to only use the Coin I earned and was going to pick up a S7 @ 2.7 TH but we hit that dry spell and I did not reach my goal until after the S7s were gone.

I get some free 110v electric at work, so the cheap S7s with the PSU that runs on 110v is a no brainer, I'm hoping to ramp up to buy some R4s down the road.

Does anyone know of any other place to pick up Antminers that accepts BTC?

www.eastshore.xyz. HagssFinn has bought three miners from them without any issues. I have been in contact with them regarding an S9 but ended up getting one from a member on here instead.

If I had enough I probably would've gone for one. But I haven't and its still damn expensive aswell.

Did a restart happen? as my S9 failover kicked in for quite a while.
1827  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S9 Setup [HD] on: December 21, 2016, 06:58:54 AM

You could try them. But as stated its entirely at your own risk. I assume the 11.85Th firmware listed there is the original firmware my S9 is running now. But I couldn't tell you for certain. All that's listed on my S9 Info page is "File System Version-Mon Jul 11 18:23:27 CST 2016".

Thank you for the info.

My 11TH has the same version, the thing about this version, its not very stable and smooth when hashing, its really erratic, the hashrate on antpool using this miner goes up and down alot. I also read the new firmwares are more stable in hashing on antpool, too bad for us, I tried to flash it to autotune but its the fan speed that bother me most. I really need to underclock the miner at 12noon here in the philippines. temperature soars up to 100 degrees. i dont like that, we know it shortens the lifespan of the miner. i want to be able to reach the halving in 2020.. hehe..

I have found a chinese seller for the 12.5TH? Do you have any idea of the firmware? is it autotune?

That's why bought it secondhand as it had the original firmware with fan adjustment. The newest auto tune works well from what I've read and keep the chips below 100c but it would be noisy. I've heavily underclocked mine down to 4.2Th and it's really nice and quiet. Anyway good luck with Antpoo....I mean Antpool (probably the worst pool going).

mistonel, as stated by Arcteryx you need to open Scam Accusation Threads in that section of the forum for these users. Especially as one is a Hero Account holder.

Ok when I posted the pool title listed "FR" my miner is still showing up on the pool. Has the node been taken off or just the title changed?
1831  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: 15$ btc for 20$ pp on: December 20, 2016, 07:17:25 PM
Well it's happened again. People just don't learn. Why do you think he didn't want to deal with a trusted member further back in the thread? If you're a newbie you send the btc first and accept the risk. That's the only way you will earn feedback nowadays.

The warning signs were there yet no one is bothering to read them. I'll give it until tomorrow mistonel then I'll tag him as a scammer.
1832  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S9 Setup [HD] on: December 20, 2016, 07:10:46 PM
Stick with 11.85th b10 S9 secondhand. Ask about what firmware they are using. All new S9's released from about a month ago have the new auto tune firmware. The old firmware is not available anymore so once you update to the new auto tune firmware there's no going back.
1833  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: December 20, 2016, 05:39:17 PM
As far as im aware they get erased and a new file created to store current data. Hence why the stats on the status page get reset.

Very nice, im eager to get hold of a pod (and also the cgminer-"insert subname here" version to run it on) Smiley

Yeah, nya cut my ping time more than half! Which makes sense because I'm in NY.  Cheesy

Just tested it myself (im in the UK) and the nya has cut mine from 139ms to 85ms. Not sure how much of an improvement it will make to worker figures but its worth the change and restart I suppose.

EDIT:  I have just realised you have a node in france.  Roll Eyes Ill be changing to that one seeing as its 26ms.

I assume fro manother members previous post it would be

fr.kano.is:3333 or 80,81 etc etc??

I'm happy to do a trade with you. You've seen me on the mining section and my feedback with trades speaks for itself. PM me if you want to trade  Smiley

In System > Overview you have a field that says: "BMminer Version" and it will either be 1.0.0 or 2.0.0.  It's that same screen where you see that "failed to connect" error message early in the boot process.

I am running the Nov 29th firmware (which is the last one they released) on my newer S9 and it doesn't cycle the fan speeds up and down, it stays pretty steady (without letting it hit 100 degrees which is also good).  But unfortunately there is no manual control.

I am contemplating putting the V1 S9's on antpool rather than upgrade them.  I have never mined there before but maybe it would be the most karmically just solution.

I have mine slightly OC'd with static fans and if I went with the firmware upgrade I would lose the ability to do either of those things.

Thanks for the directions. It seems im running v1. But apart from one board which shows 1000hw errors, the other two show 200, 300errors respectively, its not bad. Obviously haven't found a block and most likely never will with it running at 4.3Th but the HW Error rate is currently at 0.0008%. Bestshare reported as 2,479,422,642 which I don't think is bad considering its only been running for just over 2 days since the last time it was cleaned out.

This was 14 days ago and no response from OP. I think someone was trying to get their activity up a notch by dragging this thread back up lol Roll Eyes
1840  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience is now dabbling with 16nm ASICs for new designs on: December 19, 2016, 04:03:58 PM
So basically it would be a Sidehack S4 but a load better  Smiley A few refit boards, atx psu, some nice quiet fans front and back, a raspi and usb hub all inbuilt to one 4U case. Sounds nice and tidy to me  Wink

With the addition of the wireless from the raspi all you would need is a power lead coming out of it for the psu. (yes I know a wired connection is better but if its close enough to a router then why not lol).
