2141  Economy / Speculation / Re: The crypto market has changed and I think its a sign of mass adoption on: October 06, 2023, 11:40:30 PM
Even Joe Rogan is now saying that Bitcoin is the best chance at a global currency. I think it won’t be long before we see another bubble type scenario in Bitcoin’s price. All the stars are aligning for 2025 to be another bubble year with gains that surprise the hell out of everyone. After the last cycle, we’re overdue for a monster rally.
2142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is this fascination with claiming to be Satoshi Nakamoto? on: October 06, 2023, 07:11:26 PM
To be fair we are all satoshi. More seriously, I’m sure everyone on that list probably had some financial reason to claim to be satoshi. I don’t think anyone would shame themselves with public lies otherwise. We’re seeing the final result of this claim now with the lawsuits surrounding Craig Wright and it isn’t pretty.
2143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin millionaire: Lucky or possesses more qualities that we don't have. on: October 06, 2023, 07:07:26 PM
One standout thing I've seen from the Bitcoin billionaires is that, they had money to sustain themselves despite having their investment in Bitcoin. That's why it was possible that they could lose everything if bitcoin had gone to zero and still be fine.  Compared to the average investor who has to take profit at every swing that the price does to the upside for life's expenses, etc.

The best thing to do is to learn from this and just save up some money for more opportunities that will come in the future.

If they’re taking profit at every swing as you describe, then they aren’t investors, they’re traders. While
Bitcoin does attract traders due to it’s 24/7 nature, mostly those traders enrich exchanges, who then blow all the money on salaries and office buildings while losing their customer funds on pump and dump schemes. The glory of Bitcoin is that you can buy and hold your own BTC. If everyone does that, we all get rich. That’s sort of the name of the game now.
2144  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 06, 2023, 03:30:45 PM
We’ve got green in the markets this morning. Seems like whatever selloff we were experiencing may have run out of steam. Everyone is talking about recession and bonds crashing, but for a contrarian like me they might as well be screaming the time to buy is here. I much prefer investing in times of chaos as opposed to when everyone is talking about how they’re making millions trading options.
2145  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig "Faketoshi" Wright saga continues. His team turns against him. on: October 06, 2023, 03:04:09 PM
The only thing I don’t really understand about this development is why now? Everyone has been aware of the fake evidence used by Craig Wright for years now. Literally everyone has known he was a fraud. So why now is everyone positioning themselves against him. Were they just pretending to go along with the scam to get a paycheck?
2146  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 06, 2023, 12:38:22 PM
We are on fire.... $27700

It seems like we’re still digesting the move up from $16K. These little movements don’t excite me very much. I’m awaiting a big move where we see a 100% gain in a couple months. I believe that move is coming so rather than trade a few percent for gains, just make sure that you’re in the market and don’t get left on the sidelines.
2147  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Lady Cried After Losing to Sports Bet. Gambling is Not Your Mate. on: October 06, 2023, 12:36:08 PM
I worry a little bit about gambling in third world countries and how it will affect the people there. It seems like the potential to make a lot of lives worse is there and marketing to them via streamers making millions of dollars is probably not the most ethical thing in the world, but you hope that education will keep them from taking risks they cannot afford.
2148  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 06, 2023, 01:42:30 AM
It looks like the Philadelphia 76ers have finally caved to Harden’s pressure and will be shipping him to the Clippers. The Clippers are said to be doing everything in their power to make it happen. After all the offseason drama it seems like Harden is going to end up getting what he wants, while Dame didn’t get the trade he wanted, but might get himself a ring.
2149  Economy / Economics / Re: A big win for crypto again on: October 05, 2023, 06:22:10 PM
Bitcoin does seem to be on a winning streak lately and with a spot Bitcoin ETF expecting to be approved in the next few months it seems like the wins aren’t done piling up yet. Every four years it seems like everything aligns for Bitcoin to hit a perfect storm and inflate into a bubble. You can already see those pressures beginning to build.
2150  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bitcoin social communication on: October 05, 2023, 06:20:08 PM
Interesting… I don’t think that the Bitcoin community as a whole has social problems. I think it’s more of an internet roll thing. The few crazy people who go around here telling outlandish lies and leaving negative feedback for attention really are a small segment of the community. Using the ignore button when you come across them can save you a lot of heartache and you’ll be able to enjoy the mostly nice folks here.
2151  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 05, 2023, 06:17:54 PM
So finally the official NBA season starts. We are still in preseason though. Abu Dhabi, UAE is hosting the Mavericks and the Timberwolves. Very good team effort by the Wolves as they are leading double digits against the tandem of Luka and Kyrie. Edwards is still missing in action while Luka seems to be the only one scoring in his team with drama queen Kyrie still with zero points.

By the way, while the regular season is yet to start, is there anybody here playing NBA Fantasy on ESPN or Yahoo? I want to join a league but it should be serious to make it challenging and worth the time. Grin

I saw video of some NBA players playing Xbox in the desert. It seems like they’re having a good time over there. Speaking of international basketball, Joel Embiid has stated that he plans to play for team USA in the next Olympic Games. That seems a little weird to me considering he didn’t come to the US until later in life. A good addition to team USA though.
2152  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 05, 2023, 03:37:40 PM
Looks like this is going to be quite the life changing move for Damian Lillard. In addition to changing teams and moving to Milwaukee, he has also now filed for divorce from his wife. No idea if that will motivate him or cause him to have a terrible season, but one thing is certain, the man who was just being talked about as Mr loyalty is going through some changes.
2153  Economy / Economics / Re: What could Elon Musk be buying next? on: October 04, 2023, 10:37:53 PM
It seemed to me for a minute like Elon Musk was going to buy US Steel just to get the ticker symbol for his X company. At first that might sound ridiculous, but when you consider the amount of steel he will use for his Cybertrucks and Starships, having more assets in the steel industry doesn’t sound like a horrible idea.
2154  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Pillow Fight League on: October 04, 2023, 10:32:46 PM
I would have to see this to even be able to form a legitimate opinion on if it was anything more than a gimmick. The fact you say there are large men doing it and not a group of sorority girls makes me think maybe there is some legitimate fighting skill involved, which might make it fun to watch and thus fun to place a bet on.
2155  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Up Move Incoming on: October 04, 2023, 10:29:43 PM
I hope you are right. I was expecting to end the year closer to $40K so I would expect an upward move to happen soon. It seems like the price isn’t following the hype with the halving in the way, but it is still a little bit early. Once the talk around the halving gets louder I think we’ll see increased investment and a rising price.
2156  Other / Politics & Society / Re: New California law raises minimum wage for fast food workers to $20 per hour on: October 04, 2023, 06:39:10 PM
I know I’m getting old because I still think of fast food workers as making sub-$10/hr. Seeing them making over $40K a year is a sign that I’ve been around a long time. When I was younger a $40K/year job was considered professional and a nice living you could own a home and take vacations with. Now $20/hr is considered barely making it. This is what they did to us with the covid lie.
2157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Capital Gains Taxes - How do you know which BTC or ETH was sold? on: October 04, 2023, 06:37:18 PM
As has been already stated, I don’t use any concrete method as scenarios change. If I have a ton of losses on my portfolio, I might use that as a chance to balance out my older BTC gains. If I don’t have any losses to offset gains then I will most likely use the last in first out method to keep taxes reduced. It’s nice to have options when tax time comes.
2158  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 04, 2023, 05:52:55 PM
Jimmy Butler was 100% joking with his haircut and outfit. It’s hardcore trolling to say otherwise…

Looks like the tea is coming out on why James Harden is so mad. When he went in for his contract negotiations they were going to offer him a max deal, but Harden expressed interest in winning the scoring title, at which point the max deal was then never offered and they let him know that isn’t the direction the team wants to go. So Harden is holding out because he wants to average 30 a game.
2159  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 04, 2023, 04:52:48 PM
It feels like things are stabilizing a bit after a tumultuous start to the week. Nice to see traditional investments stop their free fall as well. With not much news floating around and people waiting to see if Binance will stay solvent or an ETF gets approved, we’re just stuck in a waiting game as we watch for the next big mover event.
2160  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 04, 2023, 04:51:00 PM

What's wrong with Butler? If I'm not mistaken, he's had a normal style throughout his NBA career, especially when he was with the Bulls. But in recent seasons, there's something wrong with him because he's been dramatically experimenting with changing his hairstyle. Is it because of the losses in the finals series?
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Butler looked like Cousin Itt from the Addams Family next season. Grin

I believe he is doing it now like a tradition since last year is hilarious and everybody loves his shot. I was skeptical at first seeing his picture on the leaderboard stats last year which I thought there’s just a mistake now it confirms that he is just trolling his photo shoot.

This might be his tradition now just like Westbrook before which showing off during his weird sense of fashion. I thought he is from the my chemical romance the first time I saw his pics on social media without reading the caption.  Cheesy

Whatever his intention, he succeeded in gaining the attention of the fans because of his hairstyle, reminiscent of Rihanna's. Anyway, that media day is good as it gives us a thrill and a feeling that the NBA will be back soon. The Heat did not make significant changes to their lineup; they'll remain underrated, but this team is still one to watch.

Of course, we were excited about the moves of the Bucks, as Lillard was supposed to be going to the Heat, yet it didn't happen. Also, regarding Boston, they made a major move by adding two star players to the roster, namely Holiday and Porzingis, so let's see how their chemistry will blend.

I really do not have any idea how people are making weird things look cool or acceptable. Some things are just not acceptable across the board. Just like a white person saying the N word is not going to be accepted around the world anywhere, some fashions are just not acceptable by people in the whole world. If a man wears a dress, and says he's a woman, it is not going to be acceptable in any logic based society.

I feel like I am going off track. Anyway, this was definitely weird to see. But as you said, this might actually be something which players do to Collab with some fashion brands and also increase the popularity of both the brand and themselves. But they definitely end up doing some stupid things like this.

I mean, it isn’t like he was cross dressing. He was just dressed in an emo style which he repeatedly had to say to the media. It’s an obvious joke and after the popularity of his dreadlock extensions last year you had to know this was coming. I’m sure this will be a staple in his career going forward as everyone seems to enjoy it.
