In my previous post I offered to help with a funding application to contacts that I have with a generous with an active philanthropic foundation that supports many varied worthy causes & projects - such as medical research, human rights, female empowerment, the arts, child & animal charities, ecological products & issues, construction, to the tune of about $40M over around the last 10 years in nearly 70 different countries worldwide.

This is one single person's own money, do you have a problem with this too or can people choose how they'd like to spend their own money, should Bill Gates only be charitable in the States or perhaps he & his advisers may have just looked in to this a little more than you have & can see beyond such narrow national boundaries.
2563  Other / Off-topic / Re: humanitarian expedition to Kenya - looking for donations on: June 01, 2012, 01:07:23 AM
Can I ask why you dont simply do humanitarian aid in your own country? Surely there is alot of poor and sick people in slovenia that could really appreciate the same help.

I just find it so redundant that everyone from outside africa seem to think that only africa needs help.

Slovenia actually has a very good health care system. Everyone that is sick can seek medical attention for free, so such humanitarian aid is already in place, so to speak.

Fair enough, but are you telling me there is no one on the streets, unemployed, without food etc in slovenia ? Does your government actually take care of these people.

What Im getting at is the fact that helping someone should start at home and that is continously overlooked in the world.

Everyone rush to africa, year in and year out, yes its miserable situations but you could actually do the same good for poor people in your own country(refering to everyone now) and see potentially more real worth come out of it than to rush to another continent just to return the next year and the next ad infinity since the potential good is immediately destroyed when you leave.

Ill concede if in fact there is no one you could help in your own country who also could need the same support that you are prepared to offer to kenyans.

they're medical students, offering basic medical care, that's covered by the state in their country, it isn't in Kenya I assume, they get experience & do good that otherwise wouldn't be done, it's not immediately destroyed when you leave, FFS if you were untreated for some condition you wouldn't say such BS, of course the funds raised could be used towards the homeless etc in their country but you've totally missed the point, they wouldn't be - they are being raised for something else, try & broaden your horizons maybe

Feature request:

Put a clock on the front page of the website that shows current UTC time.

+1 my Mac app for OS X 10 shows UTC to be 11.25pm atm, remember any too late entries will be refunded so don't worry about chancing a last minute bet

> 482 atm, ha - the Chinese have sniffed it out at last maybe with all that volume on the Chy ex this week too

suggestion, the Bitlotto site should have a link to the month's BE address as it's interesting to see the individual bets going in:

http://blockexplorer.com/address/1BdTh4FtbkajrFjkv6jbLX8xQ11n1KfXDf

eg - someone today dropping 75 BTC in & another sweeping a ton of addresses together to send 0.25 BTC

@vuce, it's too short notice for this trip, but if they do the same thing every year & made a NPO or association, even the uni if it's non profit to manage it & the fund raising/allocation & feedback from the project then I could well be able to help them apply for funding for next & subsequent years from a foundation that supports similar ventures, see my thread on this for further details:

& this post on it especially:

I tried to enable 2FA but it seems to be only for smart phones & I don't use one, could you make it available for Yubi keys or even just a 4 digit PIN to enter via a drop down menu would be good, thanks

It was easy enough to find this thread on the forum once I saw that GLBSE was down for a while, in fact it was just where one would expect it & also near the top of recent unread posts in the Bitcoin forum as a whole, np

someone asked me to do some more like weekly astro listings a while back, I didn't get round to it, but anyway here's a couple of intermittent one's that will be mostly borrowed/adapted from other sources that I see as relevant - if you are allergic to mystic mumbo jumbo please ovoid these updates, otherwise enjoy, thanks

Bitcoin's horoscope for today May 30, 2012:

Being out in the centre of activities will find you absolutely in your element today. Your popularity is soaring so there is no sense in holding back. Allow yourself to step forward confidently with as much panache as you can muster.

Bitcoin's horoscope for the week of May 31, 2012:

The state of Kansas has a law that seems more confusing than helpful. It says the following: "When two trains approach each other at a crossing, both shall come to a full stop and neither shall start up again until the other has gone." From what I can tell, Bitcoin, a similar situation has cropped up in your life. Two parties are in a stalemate, each waiting for the other to make the first move. At this rate, nothing will ever happen. May I suggest that you take the initiative?

2575  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 400 BTC sent to an unknow address. (COINS RETURNED) 40 BTC reward. on: May 29, 2012, 12:18:38 AM
Cool the coins are retured, etc etc  but can we lock this so it doesn't keep getting bumped up - it's closed and finished with now. Thanks.

well the last post was from the very person who sent the coins so that is rather relevant, especially as it was him & not goat who decided to send only 400 coins out of the 3,000 as a test tx, personally I find locking threads to often be a pain - much better to let them gradually fade off as some later feedback or similar situations may be of interest to resurrect them, if you're personally done with the little drama then just skip looking at any updated posts np - I do this with many threads, mark all as read when they pop up in the list of updated one's that I posted in

sry for bumping it again  Grin
I wish I could mark individual threads read without reading them. That would be a good compromise.

yep, we all wish to be able to un-follow threads that we once posted in without having to go back & delete all our posts in it to do so, one day maybe  Smiley

When I heard tizzy tazzy, first word reminded me of someone getting in a tizzy (kind of appropriate when I read the thread)

(UK) A state of panic or confusion
Don't get yourself in a tizzy, now, dear.

A state of nervous excitement or confusion; a dither.
A highly excited and distracted state of mind.

But at first I mistook it for tissy

http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Tissy
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=tissy%20fit

& the second word sounds like a pet name or some Aussie slang for a Tasmanian devil
