3001  Other / Meta / Re: Blazed pot involved in alleged escrow scam, 2k+BTC in dispute, DT remove? on: August 23, 2018, 04:27:16 PM
Just been watching/reading the show between this thread and the one in the right section, regarding Lauda.

Any reason this one was opened in Meta?

Edit:

This one is in regards to Blazed and his status being on DT1, as he is one of the escrow agents.

Still seems more a reputation thing to me; but that's my question answered.  I'll let you all get back to the topic at hand.

I opened the email and assumed it was some sort if phishing attempt  glad I already made my mind up to never order from them.

Considering how often there database gets hacked I'd hate to have valuable information about myself there.
3003  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: PSU Arching on: August 23, 2018, 03:20:16 PM
I've only run server grade PSU's for anything long term. I have used a few ATX's for testing.

There's a chance the steady load for that long has just worn out something on the inside. Some if the earliest advice I got on this forum was to avoid using non server grade PSU's for long term steady operation.

Besides that are they still under warranty?

Merit abuse is not moderated. This would also be considered an off-topic reply.

Snip

This is part of the growing trend where anytime someone does anything beneficial to the forum they want a reward.

The only way to do that is create a pointless thread for what already exists. Only problem from their point of view is that by posting there or just using "report to moderator" and citing the source, they won't get any recognition.
3005  Other / Meta / Re: Moderators, why this report has marked Bad ? on: August 22, 2018, 09:51:16 PM
They should be deleted but it's not mandatory. Multi posts relate more to someone writing out several replies in the same day, usually at the same time instead of proper post formatting.

You just need to understand the Intent behind the rule, which is to keep conversational topics less cluttered and spammy.

Edit: If your wanting to be sticky you should technically report the old bump, stating it should be deleted.

Some of those invalids are probably due to using wifi. Nothing beats a hardwired connection. Something is better than nothing though.

When I first set up I ran 50ish feet of ethernet to my garage.
3007  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google's new updates ban cryptocurrency mining apps on Play Store on: August 21, 2018, 10:13:36 PM
Wait they are dictating what can be sold/downloaded on their platform.... How dare they.  Roll Eyes

I was about to pull out my first gen iphone and go to town earning so many satoshis I could buy another next week when it dies.

That will just be one less delusion out there about mining BTC, mind you it has been alomost 3 months since I saw a post about mining on a phone. If only we could get people to update their websites as well to let people know you can't CPU/GPU mine anymore.
3008  Other / Off-topic / Re: WHERE CAN I GET THE MERIT? on: August 21, 2018, 09:04:11 PM
I love that people actually voted on the pole.

I'm pretty sure OP thought that they were going to get either 1 or 2 from each member.

Wait we've been going about this all wrong, "THE MERIT" is what OP is looking for, I'm wondering if it's the genesis merit, or maybe the one merit to rule them all. Please OP more info so we can help.

Thought I'd help them a little Grin

Could you please show me the way to rank up my account?

Thanks for the open source iasenko
3009  Economy / Speculation / Re: Investing on BITCOIN for 1 year... Will it good or bad? on: August 21, 2018, 08:23:08 PM
Here's the secret...

If you buy 1 BTC now you will have 1 BTC in a year. I guess you are wanting to use it as a store of value, or a an investment like Gold/Silver. If that's the case no one knows, unless there are any more of those time travelers around here.

The problem here is that if all anyone does is buy and then HODL BTC, where will the market growth and adoption come from. I'm not saying you shouldn't save some away but if you are truly interested in growing the value, you should store some, and use the rest as a currency for items you need. This increases adoption, transactions and proves that BTC works. Then if enough people adopt this strategy the value may continue to increase.

3010  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The difference between science and religion on: August 21, 2018, 04:29:47 PM
^^

Watching his Science Guy documentary on Netflix, I think the saddest part was rather than open minds it earned Ham millions to build his "museum of facts".

Religion is not a permanent rigid construct either. It changes constantly, based on who wrote or rewrote the sections of any religious text. I do not care what people believe in, but some of my most memorable conversations used to fall apart around the point where I would call a central idea of many religions of "love and peace" into question based on religious leaders actions.

I can't think of a single scientist or science enthusiast I have derailed a conversation with when mentioning things like gravity as a constant, laws of thermodynamics, Or why water is just a weird compound based on it's properties.

I don't want to overly generalize, as I have been able to speak with some open minded individuals who find comfort in the core ideas of their religion and can accept that there are flaws and faults that happen along the way. It's just with scientists, there can be an agreement based on facts and methodologies, up to the point where it's a hypothesis. Then they work to either disprove or prove this and final result can be universally accepted.

Glad you found the marketplace. Good job with the content, I'm sure it'll be a better experience than the auctions were. The only thing I would update is shipping information. (Where to, and who pays)

Just an FYI for your privacy if it's a concern, you may want to edit your name out of the images, using paint or something.

Read the thread before posting. This has come up several times, and unless hell froze over recently and no one told me Theymos has stated

Not a fucking chance

May have paraphrased that a little

or forcing campaigns or their managers to do their work and discourage spam,

This one falls into the "regulations" category and I don't think there will ever be a forced action. What's far more likely is the easy thing of removing/banning paid signatures.

For now I would say this falls onto the DT network to tag managers who allow spammy shitposters to clog up the forum. While also reporting and tagging said posters.
3014  Other / Meta / Re: Merit System Matters on: August 21, 2018, 01:53:59 PM
For one Merit shouldn't be the motivation behind any post you write. If it is then you are here to earn money and nothing more; that's 99% of the people that complain about it.

Yes I'm guilty for non quality post for my last posts maybe because I'm a newbie and I'm not aware that members should be post good stuffs but my concern is I saw some quality posts here in forum that didn't get merits that's why.

Blue= I'm sorry how can you not be aware that there is an expectation of quality when you post. Just to be clear quality can be a joke, a question, a comment, an observation, a theory or one of a 100 other forms. Hopefully now that you are aware of that fact you can come up with a quality post.

Red= Yeah I've seen a ton of quality posts that don't earn merit to. That's how life goes. There are some sections where less merit flows as people there don't see the value in the system and that's fine; it may also be that no one else thinks the posts deserve merit. The trend I'm seeing more and more on this forum is now people want recognition or reward for every little thing they do. If you think over time you may become a quality poster take note of these posts and go back to merit them when you can.

That is so not true. I merit low ranked members a lot(<Hero Members), and whenever I come across posters with decent quality posts, I merit them. I sometimes merit high ranked members too, but you shouldn't really see the rank when it comes to meriting.

To true, early on I tried to only merit lower ranks then I decided that was a shit way of doing things. Now I just Merit people as fast as I earn it, and it's fair game who gets them.
3015  Other / Meta / Re: Please help me on the issue of posting posts on: August 21, 2018, 01:21:55 PM
^^

I'm guessing the SIG is paid, not going to bother looking for it.

OP is only concerned with quantity not quality. So I imagine they will have a lot more posts deleted in the future.

Then I took a look at the wondrous amount of bounty posts, and on top a crappy topic posted in the wrong section - reported to be moved, borderline but not likely to be trashed

3016  Other / Meta / Re: [Suggestion] For anyone who had their account hacked on: August 21, 2018, 03:38:26 AM
Snip

Your not wrong. There are only a few accounts that may benefit from this sort of linking. Whether it's worth it for people I leave up to them, but thought I'd put something out there besides - suck it up and move on.

Snip

Not wrong, afaik. I'm not really sure how hard it is, the only stat that actually matters out of them would probably be Merit, as most people don't earn more merit than activity.

Again it's not really about which is easier or not. The fact is account recovery currently has a long wait period and people need to accept that for now. The ideas of transfers would just be a nice light at the end of the tunnel for those that care.

It's also my attempt at putting something out there as an option against people buying accounts; as that is an idea that seems to be gaining traction. I'd rather not see this become a common practice because people are frustrated about locked accounts. This idea could work for anyone, assuming their only reason for being here isn't earning money based on their rank.

Here's a good reference to help get some action on your sale.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4576802.msg41268015#msg41268015

Following that guide will give anyone looking for a miner the information they need to make an informed decision.
3018  Other / Meta / Re: @theymos, many community suggestions but silence from your side.We need you. on: August 20, 2018, 11:20:11 PM
Honestly I can see why people want answers or information. It's hard to sit back and wonder if all your work will come to fruition. Here's the kicker though, all these discussions and great ideas are just another part of being on this forum; that's what Meta is for. When I come up with one, I put it out there because I like the back and forth or the conversation that comes out of it. Even if it's called out as stupid. I must say I am surprised to read that there is a lack of back and forth behind closed doors in the MODS forum.

If/when Theymos gives us an update it will probably be in the form of implementation. Seems to be their style. This doesn't mean we need to stop having the conversations, because in all likelihood they are being read and considered. Maybe that will be the cherry on top to see something you've suggested implemented. Any idea put out there or considered is likely to leak out, why speculate on the final plan when you can just keep going along and implement the final project when it is ready.

The fact is we all fill a role in this forum, some paid most not. We should probably just take the advice we give newbie whiners and work within the constructs and rules of the forum, until it changes. Keep using meta for these discussions but not with the expectation that something will change immediately  or that we are entitled to receive an answer to all or any of our questions.

I did here somewhere though if you say SirThermos 3 times in a dark bathroom while spinning around SirThermos will appear.

Edit- Just noticed after I went and did this he appeared in the thread OP linked

This has to be my favorite thing to come from Howeycoins so far. This scam buster can't even figure it out, as they try and ruin Digarans reputation.  Roll Eyes Cross posted.

Addition to # 52

Thatīs not all. There is more uncredible signature bounty campaign for HOWEYCOINS

3020  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin owners cannot read on: August 20, 2018, 10:32:04 PM
I would bet dollars to buttons (BTC->BCH) that these people do not own Bitcoin.

They are here flooding the threads with nonsensical posts, and a lot of the times gibberish to build an account. Then there's the Bots... ugggh they are worse because behind many of them usually sits 1 asshole. These people are just earning what ever they can BTC, alt and shitcoins alike; then they convert them to fiat like it's a damn job.

All you can do, is go out there and report every low quality, shit-post spam you see. That includes threads that have run their course and are just a hub of spammy garbage. It's a losing battle but the more people who do this simple task the better the forum gets.

I recently celebrated my 1 year on this forum, and personally feel there has been an overall improvement in the quality. Not a crazy amount but some non the less.
