Update
I was contacted by the OP a few days ago with an offer to purchase the PSU, as they were not receiving the interest they had hoped for.
I expressed to OP that this is not how auctions are/or should be run on this forum, and suggested that from now on they post items as for sale in the "Goods" board(s)
I also stated that the auction needed to run it's course in case I was outbid, as I couldn't decide for any other bidder.
Now that the auction has run it's course, and I feel OP understands my previous objections to them running auctions, we have made an agreement for purchase.
I will send bb10787 .008 BTC.
This will be done once I receive the PSU, and confirm it is functional.
I offered to find escrow at the lowest fee possible or bb10787 could send first. They opted to send the PSU first, no exact date for shipping given but will be shipped within a few days.

You're right.
This in no way replaces the recovery of an account. This is meant as a step after recovery, to provide incentive to remain a valued member of the community while someone waits on recovery.

in your quote you disregarded the most important point, the fact that there is freedom, and there is necessity, thus the quote is out of context.
I may have disregarded the necessity, portion only because I do not see the necessity of buying an account. IMO it is more likely that a bought account is just dropping off another shitposter/spammer here for their "work", or worse some scammy scumbag. the reality though is that the 2nd idea is impractical, since it actually requires much more work than simpel recovery
If this is referring to the linked topic, that in no way is meant to replace recovery. It is more like making the account "whole", after the fact. I think it would provide incentive for users to try as best they can to pick up where they left off knowing once their account is restored they will have continued to add to the accounts status. and the 1st one is doable, but do you really people will start dealing with all this stuff as to see the proof that you are who you are? I mean, most people don't even know how to verify a message And all is it is doing is overlooking the real issue at stake.
Maybe they will, maybe they won't. When it comes to a signed message I can't think of 1 thread where someone hasn't quoted and verified the signed message. This takes the onus of whoever does dig in. This is not overlooking the real issue, it's a band-aid to try and assist people in your situation to continue to use the forum in a similar manner to before the hack. Additionaly, we both know that rank matters and we both know that now it is next to impossible to get to a proper high enough rank, which makes this loss and the inability of the admins to act even worse.
Your right rank does matter, but it's not the be all end all. Merit does make it more difficult to rank up, but not impossible. I'm just wondering what are you not able to do now that you were before you got hacked? I didn't follow you much but I remember a lot of hardware sales, and calling out scammers. There is nothing stopping you from doing this, no matter what your rank is.

Wow that's a significant drop in power consumption; almost 1/3. Hopefully the hash hasn't dropped off to much.
Did you get any results at -3?
And yay, it didn't fry another power meter.

OP, Avoid multiple posts in a row.
In this environment "Red Trust" is enough. Scams are not moderated here so this is an indication that individuals need to look into things a little more before proceeding in any deals. *snip* if we look 1 years back in this forum members profile you can see many trusted members already got RED TRUST . If someone experienced and well reputed members like them engaged in this kinda scam or fraudulent activities what we will learn from them.
I'm pretty lost in what your point is here. Are you are referring to trusted members having red trust?? That can happen as retaliatory feedback; DT members can also receive negative from other DT members. Anyone can leave feedback and you can see it by looking beyond just the trusted feedback. Obviously DT members are here to stop prohibited activity and what they do is only for the improvement of forum fame. No they are here as a tool to provide some insight into the activities good or bad, based on their perception.

Glad you did, not sure how but I missed how far you went with the underclocking.
I haven't gone any further than -2, so far the heat hasn't called for it but nice to know the options available.

There are a lot more Donator status members than that.
Also is there a conversation to this? Not sure what the point is.

would you dump your account freely and go and make a shit new account like mine? I highly doubt that. and they are doing good in the sense that only such activities will speed up the change.. if it will ever come, and I am not that optimistic.
No I would not freely dump my account. Neither would you, unfortunately you are a victim of a hack. What I would freely do if I were to become a victim is create an account and mosey on, albeit in a disgruntled manner. You have every right to be pissed you were essentially robbed, but account sales are not the way forward. I'm not sure what you are actually missing out on by using this account? You can tie in your post about a signed message and a link to your locked profile to create a backstory for your account; and carry on using the forum in the same way you had previously. This can be done in your signature space and or personal message. With the Forum not regulating account sales this in no way will incentive them to move faster on account recovery. The DT community are the only ones identifying account sellers and purchasers, by tagging them. This also generally includes people who are actively promoting the practice. Your case in particular gave me this idea, perhaps you'd like to way in on it. This in no way helps at the moment or speeds up account recovery, but it's something.

I haven't tinkered with many Antminers.
Can you lower the minimum fan speed any lower? If it's like the Avalons you should be able to get it down low enough to keep itself optimally warm. You could also experiment with putting a little filter cloth at the the intake to restrict flow a little, might help keep it warm.
I guess the bonus would be that you are likely using less power.

Glad to see we are getting rolling on this. Thanks again for the work you've put in so far, and for the next 10 months.
Payment sent. Nice tip on refreshing the payments page.

The idea seems nice however how would you do this merge things? There will be data loses and this could create a mess which could be bigger than account recovery.
It's not like they are recovering a large amount of accounts in a day. A program could be written to automate this but I would propose it be a manual adjustment carried out by the Admins. Like with anything there could be human error, but overall it would be simple addition, which I think is well within the skillset of Admins. In the merging process we will see alter in merit system and trust system which is also against the forum rule. Remember merit and trust are not moderated.
Nothing about my suggestion has anything to do with moderating. In regards to feedback that can be handled by the users themselves, but would require users to know when dealing with an alt account. I suggested that because along with the good, should a member chose to be untrustworthy I feel the red tag should follow them. Your right we would see an altering of Merit, but it would be more of a reallocation from the temporary account to the recovered account. There would be no net increase or decrease in the total amount in the system. I don't recall anything in the rules prohibiting this. I would see this as a role filled by the Admin team. I agree OP has good ideas & intentions but I think recovering the accounts would be easier to do than merging them, don't you agree? ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Not to mention that you would keep your post history which is more important than any of those metrics. You may have missed the general idea. This plan is in addition to account recovery. The idea is that after the account is recovered, the members original account be awarded the accrued activity and merit from the temporary account. Edited OP.

With the slew of hacked or locked accounts awaiting recovery should there be a mechanism to reallocate the temporary accounts: Activity, Merit and Smerit. I'm not even sure I've seen an account recovered, but it is inevitable that some will be. It would be nice if these members could feel like it isn't time wasted. My thoughts are that if an account is recovered, the user will have created a temporary account to follow the steps for account recovery. From here they can carry on being a member of the forum. Upon their account being returned, all stats should be merged including posts and feedback; but the first 3 are what most would be interested in. Edit: A few things I forgot. When the main account is recovered the temporary account has to be locked for any transfer of activity or Merit. Ideally the signature space would then be used to link the profiles. This could help with preserving post history, because transferring posts would probably be more hassle than it's worth. That would also be helpful in linking feedback.

Looks like it's a power over efficiency model. I wonder if it's something they can adjust through firmware? I see the first test was voltage-level- -1 And the second was voltage-level-offset -2 if you look here it is obvious my settings are not underclocking the gear.
With the 841 I'm running, when it's above 30C temperatures using the offset command is borderline shutdown? Did you try just the level -2 option? Were you seeing any change with any of the voltage adjustments from baseline? It would be a shame to lose that control, as it was a life saver with the 841.

Side thought while typing this, for new accounts. Let's put a link in directing to the forum rules. With a twist, you know how you have to accept the terms of use on everything these days let's add that in. Not at the bottom like suckers but somewhere in the middle so that people have to actually read it.
Just to be sure it gets through to everyone we would need it to be translated for all local boards. This was an additional thought I had when I suggested sending out a mass message blast explaining Merit. So I figured that information should go in a welcome message, for any new account.

In my opinion they are good for the environment of the forum. Filling up the gap left by the admins and mods. So if anyone should be tagged red here are these who do little to nothing to retrieve locked-hacked accounts.
No one is going to argue that it is fair to wait months to retrieve an account. I disagree they are doing good for the environment because anyone is free to go and make a new account while they wait on the original. While there is no rule against the buying and selling of accounts, I feel it is fraudulent to use bought accounts. They are pretending they are "someone" else, and the red tag signifies that. Other than making people look a little closer it doesn't have any other effect on how you use the forum. Luckily with the trust system in place you are free to tag anyone you feel isn't doing their part to return your account to you.

Why would you quote the whole post, right above your reply. I'd ban you just for that, but I don't have that ability. Edit: I forgot to leave these posting tips as a learning experience for anyone who is still welcome on this forum. This excludes OP.

Haha, same boat NotFuzzy. One of my 741's has a board down. I haven't pulled it to play around and see if it's just the board or PMU yet. You should be able to test that by swapping the board positions on that one blade, to differentiate. I still have the dead boards from the 841 video I shot I'll clean off the old paste to give a clear picture of what the back of the board looks like. From what I remember they appeared to be flat, but I can't be sure with the paste having already been applied. I haven't checked with Canaan, but when they sent out the replacement boards for the 841, they sent them pre-pasted (back and chips). I think that is how they plan to send out replacement boards. Edit: Image of the flat metal surface the board is "laminated" to. I couldn't get a clear image of the side view showing the mating of the surfaces. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FKRmsqIOt.jpg&t=663&c=ATg5A8zAKDvK6g)

Cool, thanks for the image. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) That's surprising, I haven't heard about their Litecoin miner before this. I remember reading about the litecoin miner the same time I believe the CEO started talking about potentially building the TV's last year. They both shared a blurb in the write-ups. I did inquire about it but never heard anything official. Up until now I hadn't heard of anyone seeing one for sure.

It's always nice to see them pouring in after a little drought.
Let's see if we can't sneak 1 or 2 more in before the Diff adjustment.
Edit: Looking like a single digit increase, nice. Not as nice as a decrease lol
