481  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have a "gambling problem" which you can sometimes control for years? on: December 20, 2023, 06:43:33 PM
Let's start with the simple choice: Do you consider yourself to have a gambling problem affecting your happiness, security, relationships, finances, etc? (Yes or No)

I do not think that my gambling patterns affect my person life, happiness, relationships, and finances.

Most of the time, I view gambling as a form of entertainment where I get to experience the adrenaline of knowing whether I won or lost the current round. That kind of adrenaline is what drives me to continue this dangerous habit; though I do firmly believe that I have control over my allocations and budgets for gambling.

Quote
Either way, when it's time to stop, how exactly do you do it? (For example) Change other habits, go new places, exercise more, stop drinking, simply "swear off" gambling... How exactly do you stop? Thank you.

Personally, one of the most efficient way/method of controlling your gambling urges is to allocate a specific budget for it. Once the allocated budget for gambling is exhausted, then you are actually compelled to stop.

The problem lies with that allocation since it entirely depends on your discretion on how much you are willing to put for gambling. This is the only problem but I find it easier to control rather than any methods that some have mentioned in this thread.
482  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has gambling ever whispered you with different strategic prediction measures? on: December 20, 2023, 06:11:45 PM
Since gambling is most based on luck, who else has ever wanted to set your eyes close while you hits the slot or taking your predictions with the believe that.... "Your eye sight has failed you in number of times at when believing that taking your time and plays according to your heart desired based on sights satisfactories was to be the best for you"
Then probably sometimes you want to try a new trick by closing your eyes while picking your predictions or hitting the slots.

Well, I personally tried this method but this just prolongs the agony of the inevitable- regardless of whether you close or eyes or not, the result remains the same.

The reason on why I have used this technique in the past is due to the rationale of the element of surprise. I even do this whenever I do something that is luck related, trying to surprise myself and convince that I have won without me knowing.

At the end of the day, this is just a personal comfort that some use in order to pacify the situation. People would act as if they are surprised but in reality, they just cope with the fact that the result is just inevitable lost with the odds against them.
483  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have any one had experiences with banned bank/providers because of gambling? on: December 19, 2023, 10:52:37 PM
Is it because of the gambling activities that got his account banned or it is because of the legitimacy of the funds that raven are more concerned about?

Is there any gambling platform that needs to be avoided?

Since i woke up we've been trying to contact their support for complaint and no response yet. Is there anyone with similar experience?

Though I do not have any experience with banks prohibiting my transactions, I have a personal experience with my local exchange, stripping the features of my account and degrading the level of authenticity by two (2) levels, thereby decreasing my overall withdrawals due to being affiliated with gambling.

In my local exchange, the admins questioned the origin of my BTC funds and I clearly explained to them that I get the proceeds from a signature campaign representing a gambling website. Surprisingly, they told me that anything to do with gambling is not allowed, therefore, I was told that majority of the features of my account will be restored once I address this issue.

Fortunately, the only solution to that problem is to use another exchange and transfer such funds from that exchange to my local exchange; or/and to use Binance as my exchange in case I need to convert my BTCs to our local currency.

Even if ito yung benefits na cineclaim nila, I do not think na worth it ito sa ganitong halaga.

Imagine mo rin na sa p55 million pesos, makakabili ka ng mahigit 20+ BTCs which can be used as investment for short/long-term.

485  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you still use Banks ? on: December 16, 2023, 02:02:30 PM
Banks will remain and stay relevant until our payment methods are changed from traditional to digital.

As long as we have fiat in circulation, then bank will exists for a long time. Not to mention, bank institutions are the only way in order to store our money in a relatively safe manner due to the fiduciary relationship created between the bank and its clients.

While this remain true, cryptocurrencies are slowly changing on how payment channel works. If more and more countries would adapt and adopt it to various payment applications, then cryptocurrencies may very well be the "future of money" as previously mentioned in this forum.
486  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Prove me wrong: Gambling is both more relaxing and entertaining than trading! on: December 16, 2023, 01:23:58 PM
I gamble to have just fun.

I do not trade to have fun but to make money. Although I also use small amount of money to trade, just like gambling but a little bit more higher.

If asking which one is more entertaining, trading is not entertaining but exhausting.

I agree with you- everything boils down to preference.

Mostly, when people trade, they do it for profit and not for fun. I mean, as someone who traded before, believe me that it was not fun to see your trades on the red; and it was definitely not fun to see and wait the prices to decrease while losing at least 50% of the value of your investments.

Gambling, on the other hand, can be viewed both as a form of entertainment and as a means for profit. This is the reason on why people enjoy gambling purely on the entertainment side as they want to feel that adrenaline rush regardless on whether they won/lost their bet.
487  Economy / Gambling / Re: tell me the best online casino on: December 16, 2023, 12:41:05 PM
I want to play online casino which has the following criteria,
1. of course not a scam online casino

For a genuine online casino, I recommend visiting the service section and search for any signature campaign that currently advertises a certain online gambling platform.

To give you an example, here are some of the online gambling platforms that currently has a signature campaign:

  • Duelbits;
  • Rollbit;
  • Fortune Jack;
  • Roobet;
  • Stake;
  • Betcoin;

... and many more.

The reason on why I recommend these gambling websites is because the fact that the platform can avail the services of a signature campaign means that they can hold the funds for it, which speaks on how genuine these are.

Quote
2. there are slots, roulette and versus (player vs player) games
3. there are deposit bonuses and free spins for new players
4. there is a daily bonus (points or free spins)

You can refer to any of the above-mentioned platforms for these games but for player vs player, I would definitely recommend trying out Rollbit's Duel Arena as it offers a unique twist on gambling! You can check YouTube videos for it and on how to play it.

Quote
5. easy and fast withdrawal process (doesn't have many rules)

This is somehow difficult given that every casino has their respective ToS and withdrawal system. I cannot recommend you a specific casino about this but again, you can refer to the above-mentioned list for you to try it.

At the end of the day, you can also visit their ANN thread if you have any query or questions about their platforms.

488  Other / Off-topic / Re: Simple advice, don't get carried away by people success stories. on: December 16, 2023, 11:55:56 AM
People are easily influenced when the one doing the promoting is famous and well known. They’re going to be interested when they see their no.1 celebrity promoting a project.
Most times, these success stories can be formulated and even exaggerated by scammers looking to attract people to part with a little bit of money and have a success story of your own. And sadly, people fall into the trap in chasing their own big win and success story.
It all falls down to doing some serious research whenever you’re wanting to part with money for a new project or investment.

The problem with these stories is that they tend to be very believable especially if a celebrity is the one endorsing such.

Stories and life experiences, in general, are actually inspiring to know when they came from a valuable source. When I say "valuable", it means that the story is truly genuine as it teaches lots of life teachings that can be applied for everyone. The problem with these stories/advice is that they came from people who are verified, but what they share are just made-up or not real.

For example, a celebrity may claim that he/she invested on a specific platform and that made him/her lots of money. But in the end, it is all part of an advertising scheme in order to attract more users to that platform in which he/she mentioned.

At the end of the day, it is up to our diligent efforts to know which advice/stories to believe. No matter how convincing an advice would be, always stick with your gut and personal research for a secured decision making.
489  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you remember when Twitch banned gambling? Now they allow nudity! on: December 16, 2023, 10:33:28 AM
Not a long time ago, we had a lot of news and discussions on this forum about Twitch platform censoring gambling lives and content, due to their decision to keep the social media "family friendly".

Ironically, now artistic nudity is allowed (And who is going to define the limit between what is artistic and what is pornography?)!

Here we can see the double standards of Twitch's developers. Gambling was condemned as something outrageous, but nudity is fine as family friendly content...

Why do you think gambling has been being treated in a different manner by Twitch?

Twitch revamps rules on sexual content

IMHO gambling is much more harmful if compared to nudity if you ask me. Nudity can even be really positive for countries with low birth rates and negative population growth haha. This decision comes shortly after platforms like Facebook allowed partial nudity (nipples) to be published.

What are the possible negative effects of allowing nudity? I don't see any...

I find it funny that most p*rn websites can be accessed in our country (Philippines) but if you try to search online gambling platforms (e.g. Stake.com), our ISP has automatically banned it saying that "we should stay away from it." I will try to get a screenshot here so that everyone could see it!

Anyway, I do think that gambling has more impact compared to pornography. I mean, the only method that porn websites do to prevent minors from accessing their website is to press "accept" or "deny" if you are above 18. After that, you're in (no pun intended). But to most gambling websites, it contains stringent regulations in order for you to cash your proceeds out.
490  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you take time to read the terms and conditions of casinos before registering? on: December 16, 2023, 09:49:45 AM
The terms and conditions of casinos and other companies is usually very lengthy and somehow boring for some people. Hence , many people rarely find time to read them. They may actually contain some of the complaints that people raise about some casinos such requiring KYC if there is need or suspicion of money laundering activities.

What is your take on this?

Hahaha nope! I know this is bad practice given that there are ToS that are essential and important that every person registering must know.

Under their ToS, some gambling companies can stipulate any prohibition that they want and once the user accepts the said ToS without actually reading it, it serves as constructive notice to everyone. If you happen to infringe upon their ToS, they can validly withheld your funds/winnings without any given notice.

I just hope that gambling companies can make their ToS "readable" given that they can make it appear as huge blocks of texts that can definitely sway a person from reading it.
491  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can I ask for refund if casino game has bugs? on: December 16, 2023, 01:13:03 AM
Hello guys, I have heard many stories when person was playing casino games, for example person was playing slots and managed to win a huge jackpot, 100 thousand or up to a million but casino didn't give him his winning because they said slot had bugs and they can't give away money because person won through a buggy slots.
I have never seen a case when casino called player for a refund because slot had bugs. What happens if you think that slot has bugs and that's why you lose? If we follow logic, since casino can deny your winning because they think that game has bugs, you should have right to ask for slots inspect if you lose a lot. Doesn't this make sense? I think it makes but I want to know if you had similar experience or if something similar has happened in history ever.

Ohh this is a difficult situation especially if you are the person claiming to be the winner.

In some casinos, they are legally entitled to withheld any of your winnings if it has been proven that the cause for such jackpot was a glitch on their system. This is the reason on why we have read some posts about gambling winners who were stripped out of their jackpot winnings due to a "technical glitch" found on the system of the casino.

I do not know on how you can contest this but this would be a battle of the evidence. If I were the gambler, for sure I would be pissed but if you are against a tyrant with at least unlimited supply of money in a court case, most likely you would just accept the settlement, if any, has been offered.
492  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you wrap up your gambling session? on: December 15, 2023, 04:12:18 PM
Every time I gamble, I will finish and close my browser window. I didn't just leave it because I thought it might make other people who saw what I did become curious. There is no specification for how long I will spend gambling. But if I feel like I've been in the casino too long and I've lost quite a bit, it's time for me to stop and log out. I also still want to avoid losing a lot. Apart from that, I also played gambling for only 20 minutes, and that was because all my money had run out until there was nothing left at all. That made me want to deposit some more money to be able to continue gambling.

Before when I still used to gamble frequently, I stop when I felt that I had too much. Some people stop depending on the amount of profit/loss they have experienced but in my case, my determining factor is when I feel drained on every session. Perhaps profit is still the main factor that drives me to stop but I just usually call it a day and accept the consequences.

In the case of my brother, regardless of the result on whether he won or not, he would always treat us something either he gives us money or he cooks food. He believes that in every game of gambling, there is something that he must do proactively just to keep his mind busy.

I try to set weekly limits on my gambling and if I trend to loosing or wagering too much on a single day then I wouldn't be able to enjoy gambling for the rest of the days of the week within my limits.
Having discipline is good for being a healthy gambler. So wrapping up your session based on a limit, usually money based but also time based, is a good practice actually.

Trust me, this is easier said than done but this is the right approach in order to maintain discipline. Having an allocated budget is the "responsible" way of gambling but once you experience a loss, the initial reaction from that experience is for you to recover it quickly.
493  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers should not believe in first game win trap on: December 15, 2023, 03:42:39 PM
I believe that we call this as the "cycle of gambling" where a gambler is stuck on this endless loop of winning/losing.

When a gambler wins, their initial reaction is to gamble again and to try if their luck would continue. Unfortunately when they lose a game, also, their initial reaction is to recover such loss by gambling again their winnings. This creates an endless cycle of win/lose depending on the outcome if the gambler fails to control the urge to play.

In order to at least pacify this problem, the recommended solution here is to allocate a certain budget whenever a person gambles. For example, if you plan on gambling today, limit your time by bringing a specific amount of budget to avoid any kind of over-expenditure that can surely prevent you from experiencing a losing streak.
494  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers trickily claims they wins the bet while they never did. on: December 15, 2023, 03:09:42 PM
Don't be deceived, not every gamblers who actually claims that they won really won.
Some falsefully speculates that they won just because they want to pave an ease to those who has been advising them to quit or limits gambling simply because the gambler has been unlucky to win instead he keep betting over and over without a good bankroll management in their gambling carriers.
They basically do this because they feels disturbed and inconveniences of the people's opinions and advices towards the gamblers unprofitable gambling experiences

Well I guess people fake their status in order to give sound advice to majority of the gamblers here as this is a discussion.

Though this may be the case, I do agree that there are people who fake their winnings in order to convince others to try what they are doing. In some cases, also, there are people who fake their winnings by indirectly promoting a certain gambling platform, in which the latter has rigged or questionable results and outcome.

Unfortunately, we cannot 100% detect if people are faking their said winnings by giving advice. The best thing to approach this kind of problem is to be rational and cautious- if what they are saying makes sense, then it is up to your good judgement whether to believe it or not.
495  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Type of gambling and Intelligence on: December 15, 2023, 11:19:28 AM
Does the type of game you play at a casino or sports you bet on show an individual's level of intelligence or how smart a person is?
Blackjack, Poker, slots, roulette, baccarat, sports betting, horse racing, betting on sociopolitical events, keno, etc.

I do not think that there is a correlation between the game that you play to one's intelligence.

Gambling is a game that has risks/money that are involved. Naturally, people do not have the time to think or have the patience to play long card games (e.g. poker). Rather than playing card games, they would rather play slots that are easy to navigate. But that does not mean that since they played slots, it means that they have a low intelligence/IQ compared to people that play card games, etc.

At the end of the day, everything is all about preference and style. Some prefer to play games that are relatively quick (e.g. slots, roulette, etc.) while others prefer to control the risks involved with card games (e.g. blackjack, poker, etc.).
496  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you Spending more or less money on Casino this Holiday season on: December 14, 2023, 04:18:20 PM
With the holiday season right around the corner, I think this is a good opportunity for everyone to experience the joys of Christmas with their respective families and friends. This season is always about giving and sharing with one another. Consider the holiday season as a break from all our gambling habits or at least control our allocated expenses for such.

Perhaps after the Holiday season, people can gamble again with their respective budgets. But personally for me, I would definitely lessen my gambling activities UNLESS gambling platforms can provide bonuses that can force/compel me to try it.

Are you spending more or less on casinos this holiday season?

I have a gambling allocation, and I don’t exceed my limit no matter the condition. I have no reason to increase or reduce my gambling allocation, if I have extra money, I do use it for other necessary things, that doesn’t mean I should increase my gambling allocation, and maybe whenever I am having some financial problems that I need to take care of, I do reduce the amount that I allocate for gambling just for me to solve any particular problem that I am having at that particular time.

Actually, some people gamble according to the amount they are having with them at that moment, they don’t set limits for themselves, and some that have limits do decide to increase it if there is an increase in the amount they are receiving at that particular time, but I am not like that, even if my income increases, my allocation for gambling doesn’t increase.

This is a good and disciplined gambler. Though this may be the case, the only factor that can sway me from gambling this holiday season is if the gambling platforms over bonuses that are exclusive only for this Christmas.
497  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: With gambling, it's probably easier to quit cold turkey on: December 14, 2023, 12:54:47 PM
With other things it can sometimes be recommended that the addict slowly winds down their consumption of the addictive activity or substance, but that doesn't sound very realistic with gambling, does it?

Quitting cold turkey, contemplating on your mistakes and talking about it with a group and some experts sounds like the best path. What are your thoughts? Could a problem gambler quit slowly and expect realistic improvements?

I think this is definitely the right recommendation for a person who is struggling to quit any kind of addiction.

There is actually some science behind addiction- like you cannot quit in one (1) go after years of being exposed to a habit. Once you attempt to quit and stop it completely, the relapses happen often which leads to a failure of quitting altogether.

Like what you have just mentioned, take things slow. A gambler built their addiction on a year's pace and getting it out of your system will also require small steps. But what is important here is the consistency and determination of quitting which makes everything from impossible to possible.
498  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I start investing in Bitcoin? on: December 13, 2023, 06:52:27 PM
Can someone please guide is it a good practice to start investing in Bitcoin in this upcoming January-2024?

Before the fork happens, it is very recommended that you start investing in small amounts in purchasing BTC.

As what happened in multiple forks before, there is a pattern that it increases the price of BTC in circulation. While this may be true, still, please do your research before you invest. If you really plan in committing an investment in BTC, make sure to start small but with a consistent pacing.

For example, you can purchase $10 worth of BTC per week as it will definitely accumulate in the long run. With this kind of method, not only do you start your investment in the cryptocurrency world but you also have the opportunity for your investments to slowly grow.
499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which one is fun, watching with bet or without a bet? on: December 13, 2023, 06:16:13 PM
Just trying to get the communities opinion based on their experience about the topic.

Personally, a a bettor, I find it very stressful when watching the game you are betting especially if it will end up a losing bet.

If we have the same experience, how do you cope up with that problem, after all, gambling should be fun but why we have this kind of feeling that we feel disappointed when our bet loses?

Simple answer: it is because money is involved.

Take away the monetary aspect of gambling, then everything would be bleak and boring. The potential of a person winning big is what makes gambling so attractive to users. Given that a monetary aspect is involved, this also contributes to the adrenaline feeling whenever people bet and risk their money. After all, gambling is mostly about luck- watching your odds win/lose can make you feel both excited and anxious at the same time in which some people crave for such feeling.

In conclusion, when money is involved, then people would feel anxious about their bets. If they win the bet, then they would feel ecstatic; but if they lose, then the feeling of regret and revenge are mostly the initial reaction to people.
500  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The shorter the time you spend the better on: December 13, 2023, 05:06:16 PM
Controlling time for gambling is easier to do than controlling the money that can be risked for gambling.

Gambling also cannot be based on time, it depends on how much money we can play the game.

I am gonna sign under every your word. Without proper control, during short session people might lose even more than during a longer gambling session. And a gambler with a very large bank wont be happy and satisfied to have a 20min gambling session.

Instead of playing with time and trying to find proper gambling session length, I would suggest to make sort of a gambling subscription. We pay for apps weekly and monthly, so why not gamble for $50 every week end? Finish when you are happy with the result or ran out of $50 budget.

I definitely agree with your post.

Gambling is all about the amount of money you spend depending on your allocated budget. Unfortunately, people go beyond their said budget as they tend to recover all their losses by gambling again. Sure, the adrenaline may kick in and it may give you that temporary feeling of satisfaction after winning against the odds but at the end of the day, you are just burning cash the more time you spend gambling.

This is the reason on why most people tend to go out of control and overspend on their allocated budget. Stop chasing for profit; change your mindset and view it as an opportunity for entertainment rather than a method of earning money.
