1481  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you like commission job or salary base job? on: November 01, 2022, 09:12:22 PM
A commission-based job — easily. I'd prefer me having to earn more when I outperform and/or work harder rather than having a "safe" salary. It really depends on a case to case basis though; someone in a bad financial situation might want a stabler income especially if he/she sort of lacks the skills and connections.

I agree with your statement- this is a case-to-case basis but if you are someone who has the set of skills to competitively participate against others, then a commission-based job may be better.

Personally, I am somehow scared of the term "commission" due to its nature. It is like, you are being paid as long as you can outperform and be at the top of the food chain. The only problem is, you have to be consistency at your work. While the pay may be higher compared to salary-based jobs, the latter is still more stable and secured in terms of receiving monthly wages.

At the end of the day, it all boils down to preference and opportunity. If you think that you are someone who prefers to control your own destiny, then a commission-based job may be better suit for you. But if you are someone who prefers to be secured, then a salary-based job may be the right choice.
1482  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to guide a 10year old on the blockchain journey? on: November 01, 2022, 03:39:22 PM
Is there any proper way a kid can learn how to build on the blockchain? I have a very smart kid who knows way too much about computer software and hardware, I believe that exposing him to blockchain technology is better since it's the future with the way things are going right now, where do you think I should start.

Hmm, while it is entirely possible, I do think that the kid would encounter some difficulties understanding the complexities of the blockchain techonology.

Rather than teaching him about the blockchain, my best advice would be to teach him the value of money and on how to store it. In addition, introduce to him the basics of investing money by storing it so that he/she may have the idea on how to properly manage their resources.

While you are not directly teaching your kid about the blockchain, you are somehow indirectly helping him/her understand the basic finances that would build his/her foundation on understanding on how money works and its value.
1483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think China will lose by banning Bitcoin? on: November 01, 2022, 03:25:26 PM
I am bullish on the future of Bitcoin as a technology.

We all know that China has a total ban on cryptocurrencies, including but not limited to no mining, no circulation, no trading, no banking services, no listing on exchanges.

What do you think countries have to lose by making this choice?

Of course, they are losing on this opportunity to have access to a revolutionized technology that may potentially be utilized by more countries in the future. Like what most have mentioned, China is a communist country. This means that the government has absolute control over the properties and services that businesses offer. Since BTC and cryptocurrencies introduce freedom of payment, it is nothing but obvious for them to prohibit something that cannot be controlled or regulated.

I just hope that the loss of China means the gain of other countries. For example, El Salvador has already made BTC as their legal tender; and more countries have started to integrate BTC to their economics and financials.
1484  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Apple Pauses Gambling Ads in App Store Pages After Developers Complain on: November 01, 2022, 02:53:05 PM
Apple can afford to ban the gambling ads because they have enough sources to meet the requirements like profits in lot of other ways where people don't complain at all so it may even give good name in the social media as well. Probably apple users are not happy with that cause apple promoted their ecosystem is highly secure and save people money from online scams even though it is not entirely true still most people think in that way so apple wants to keep that or gradually can bring the changes over the years not all of a sudden.

Apple is one of those companies that has influenced over these kinds of decisions. They do not need the money as they have various streams of revenues that can be gained in a more morally accepted manner. Advertisements of gambling games or any kind of message relevant to it can pose serious problems with them especially that Apple products are catered to almost all audience of various age groups.

Like you mentioned, they can and they have the resources to not entirely rely on ads about gambling. I guess this is the best move that they can possibly do to for people to not get addicted to online gambling.
1485  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much was your last big win? on: November 01, 2022, 02:04:08 PM
Winning was in sportybet around $1k although it was a local shop so after winning I made all my withdrawal it wasn't an easy task, there were lots of lost while gambling as God may have it after such huge winning compare to my local currency I never won again so have been trying to get some winning most times I may have some few games that will go against my prediction.. out of 10 selected matches either 1 or 2 would go against my predictions which always makes it difficult for me to win.

Just a quick question, when you won around $1,000, how was the withdrawal? Were you able to get your funds easily or did you go through a process of verification and/or delays during the whole process? Given that there is a recent thread about a person unable to successfully claim his prize, I am curious if online casinos have this sort of bias towards winners.

I remember a few months ago, I won around $200 from participating in an online cockfighting betting games. My initial fund was only around $50 and I was able to push my winnings up to $250. When I lost one round (which fell to $200), I knew that it was at that moment where I had to stop and call it a day!
1486  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: THE UNNECESSARY PRESSURE FOR MERITS on: October 31, 2022, 11:45:17 PM
The forum, is just like every other online forum or group, and all one is needed to do is just to discuss and share ideas, ask necessary question, answer questions, help solve a problem and in general be ready to unlearn, learn and relearn.

Always try to give solutions to problems, when people present a topic seeking for solution, as this also fascinates meriting a post.

Like what I previously mentioned to posts like these, there is nothing wrong with people looking for merits. The problem stems if a person completely focuses on merit too much to the point that they do more harm than good in the forum.

Like what you also mentioned OP, focus on contribution and knowledge on the forum. If your focus is on contribution, then merits will be the by-product of your efforts. Instead of you chasing merits, merits would be the one chasing your account!
1487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk is one of the keys to be 100k$ per Bitcoin? on: October 31, 2022, 11:25:27 PM
Elon Musk, only used his popularity for his own benefit. He manipulated the market so hard that, he bought doge in cheap price and sold in 100 times more price. He is a man who only care about his own profits. Bitcoins don’t need these type of cheap hypes to increase in it’s price. Btc will definitely rise when the demand for the coin increases. So yes don’t lose hope and keep holding the coins for couple of months. Let’s go Bitcoins to Moon .
Well to be fair i can't quite blame Elon Musk for any of that, of course he should care about his own pocket, so does everybody else, the people that should be blamed are investors and individuals who are so keen on following what Elon does, believing what he says and investing in projects he tries to shill. Mind you that if one falls victim to manipulation and hype, it is because the said individual has failed to do their own research, but acted only in a bid to follow the bandwagon. Having said that, Elon Musk has no control whatsoever on Bitcoin's future price, if people allow his manipulations to get to them, then i'm afaid it's all on them.

I agree with your statement. While Elon has that influence over the market, I doubt that he will affect the price of BTCs to the point that it constitutes manipulation.

Again, every person has that principle of self-preservation where they prefer their interests over the others. Being able to focus on profit is definitely not wrong, especially that Elon Musk can most likely affect the price over the market of Doge. But when it comes to BTC, which is definitely volatile, his influence is not something that will definitely and absolutely destroy its price which may constitute price manipulation.
1488  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen to crypto exchanges in the future? on: October 31, 2022, 10:55:19 PM
Bitcoin is becoming more and more popular and applicable everyday and there are plenty of companies and businesses accepting it as a common type of payment. However, when digital money is globally accepted, would there still be a need for cryptocurrency exchanges? Any thoughts on this?

I have a strong feeling that cryptocurrency exchanges will be heavily regulated to the point that it will become too restrictive for the average person to use.

Back in 2017, our local exchange (coins.ph) was very lenient when it comes to cashing-out and withdrawing our BTCs. Even if the origin of our BTCs came from a gambling establishment, they will not question such and they will let you convert them easily to our desired local currency.

Unfortunately, as of 2022, our local exchange has become too restrictive- they kept on asking KYC documents in order to verify the origin of our funds. In addition, they can also lock your account or restrict your withdrawing limits if they found out that your BTCs came from a gambling establishment, which is prohibited under their new and amended TOS.
1489  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it really possible to quit on these reasons on: October 31, 2022, 10:12:22 PM
....
You can anytime you want
Do you have the power to do it anytime that you want.

Let's discuss this and thank you for participating.

You have the power to quit anytime you want- the mind has absolute authority when to decide. Your actions is not totally dependent on the results, though it has a certain factor for it to influence over your decisions.

A person who is addicted to gambling will most likely continue to gamble regardless of the results he/she faces or continues to experience. But in all honesty, a person can quit anytime he/she wants especially if they feel that their addiction is overwhelmingly dangerous to the point that it clouds their judgement in making rational decisions over their personal life.
1490  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A lottery's defense to not paying a huge winning. on: October 31, 2022, 01:39:42 PM
.....
The question is ?
What do you really think of the lottery company and is there any chance for them to winning the case and not paying the winner?

A case like this should be investigated and studied carefully- the gambling company alleged that the person faced irregularities but they have to lay all the evidence against the winner.

Since the gambling company was the one who claimed that the winner had irregularities, the burden of showing the evidence to substantiate this claim falls on them and not on the winner. Like what one has mentioned, the fact that the gambling company also offered to pay a compromise agreement somehow implies this admission against their original claim.
1491  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best Strategies for Trading. on: October 30, 2022, 11:59:08 PM
Hello guys. What are the possible Currency pairs trading strategies that a newbie can follow up. It should be from personal observations, beliefs and practices. Thanks.

Study the market and understand both the intrinsic and extrinsic factors that affect its price. Do some research about the market situation and adapt from your decision. Again, there is no ironclad rule that will absolutely make you a successful trader- it is all about adapting and deciding whether it is the best time to sell your cryptocurrencies for profit.

One last thing- avoid getting too greedy. I have personally witnessed some people who refused to sell despite profit due to their hope of reaching a desired price. The conclusion is- they lost majority of their resources due to the volatility of the price of cryptocurrencies.
1492  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bad advice can still be gotten from forum. on: October 30, 2022, 11:48:50 PM
I haven't gotten any bad advice yet, but I think it is logical to still entertain the possibility that since the forum is a meeting place for people from different lifestyles to discuss, bad advice or problematic opinions can still be shared. It is important and advisable to also extra vet the information and advice you get on this forum before application.

To assist in your information or advice gathering process, whenever you start a topic of interest to you, or a topic is started that interests you, do well to follow through the topic by reading as much replies to it as you can, so you can compare people's opinions/advice for you. Where you say that a particularly opinion or advice is been given by many forum members in different ways, you can tell that that is a good advice. That is one method I use, which other methods can forum members use to determine the best opinion for a topic of concern?

Oh definitely- this forum contains people who experienced different results from different circumstances. Obviously, the advice given by some of the people are only applicable to certain scenarios and situations which cannot be applied as a a general rule.

You are right- newbies must be vigilant enough and responsible in following the advice given by some people. At the end of the day, the ultimate decision lies on these newbies, their call whether to follow it or not.
1493  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING] Manny Pacquiao vs. DK Yoo on: October 30, 2022, 11:37:21 PM
I think it has been discuss here a bit, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5370631.0

But yes, nevertheless it deserved a separate thread since this is the legendary Manny Pacquiao first exhibition match against a Youtuber.

And of course, everyone is interested to see Manny in the ring again, after all he is one of the greatest, but he had to retired from professional boxing. Good to hear that the proceeds will go the homeless in the Philippines, that is good to hear the Manny is helping his fellow countryman in whichever he can.

As someone who grew up watching Manny Pacquiao, this is nothing but a blessing to me. To see him in the ring once again, despite in an exhibition match, is just a blessing and a privilege for everyone. I just really doubt if there is another fighter like Pacquiao- that speed, tenacity, aggressiveness, and footwork! Man, it is just art fighting in the boxing ring!

Honestly, when I first heard about this fight, I thought to myself that it will not be explosive as his previous fights. But I gained respect when I found out that the purpose of this fight is raising money to donate for Ukraine. Regardless, I will definitely support and watch this fight.
1494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let me join the Bitcoin Forum on: October 30, 2022, 04:58:51 PM
....
Anyone reading, please share what you've learned while getting to know Bitcoin. What is your reason behind Bitcoin's survival to this day and how do you thank Bitcoin. Finally, making something is very easy but maintaining it is very difficult.

I joined this forum last 2017 and my experience is nothing but exceptional- I became a part of this revolutionary innovation where it gave me the opportunity to invest for my future.

The beauty behind cryptocurrency is its convenience compared to some of the traditional methods of investment. The fact that you can purchase BTC and HODL them makes you an ipso facto investor. The fact that you can also attract people into this seemingly complex, yet relatively easy platform should be the main trend that is happening.

While the reputation of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are divided, the fact remains that this would change my future in the event my investments mature.
1495  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Would a Nation of Sports Gamblers Look Like? on: October 30, 2022, 04:30:12 PM
I don't like a nation of sport gamblers as they would be in default debt really soon because no one would really work, all of them would have their mind in their betting.
A nation of sport gamblers will have the problem of having citizen who are mostly Irresponsible. The gambling will not affect everyone making everyone irresponsible, but it will surely have the number of irresponsible people more than the responsible. The irresponsibility is people who gamble without control, and those that will do anything just to keep getting money to gamble including involving in crime.

I do think that what the government is trying to do is by preventing addiction rather than curing it.

Though this may be the case, I find it too restrictive to the point that there are states that completely prohibit online gambling. But, this kind of problem may easily be remedied by visiting other states and gambling on it. While it may be inconvenient for you, but it relatively solves the issue of complete prohibition done by some states that prohibited gambling.

Again, while I am not in favour of completely prohibiting gambling, I do understand the implication that the government did by making this move.
1496  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling house responisbilty to protect people data on: October 30, 2022, 12:18:36 PM
Ideally, gambling houses should not disclose the identity of the person who won big without first asking him. Unfortunately, this is not respected always.

Those gamblers who do not want their information to be public, but the gambling houses make their names public, can go to the court of law as this is a serious offense. Gamblers can claim damages to the gambling site on this basis. Do you think gamblers should take the help of courts in this case ?

Hmmm I doubt that there is a cause of action against the gambling website, unless the person can show that he suffered damages due to the posting of their winnings on a gambling website.

In order to have a claim against the gambling company, you must show that there is an actual controversy and damages on your part as the plaintiff. Failure to show such cause of action will make it it impossible for you to claim any damages resulting from the actions of the gambling company.

Though this may be the case, I think that you can message their representative or their customer support to not include your names on the list, should you find it potentially dangerous on your part.
1497  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why newbies get banned on: October 29, 2022, 11:56:21 PM
A lot of newbies generally think that Bitcointalk is some complex platform that you really need to study; but in fact, no — you really don't need to know the deep ins and outs of Bitcointalk. You simply just need to not spam and to not plagiarize, and you'll be totally fine.

^What's far more important is your knowledge with Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general. Bitcointalk is just an online forum just like any other online forum. You can go as deep as understanding the forum's software code but it would be useless if you don't know crap about Bitcoin/crypto.

You are definitely right- most newbies tend to overcomplicate this forum and think of it as something that is punishing, yet this platform is very rewarding.

There are tons of posts guiding newbies to the forum. Rules are pinned in order for them to read all the do's and dont's on this forum. Like any other platform, there are rules that have to be followed in order to preserve the integrity and quality of this forum compared to others.

When newbies fail to adhere and follow the rules posted, then they cannot argue against this decision. Like any individual, it is your responsibility to follow certain rules in order to avoid sanctions being tendered.
1498  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MY FIRST BITCOIN PURCHASE. on: October 29, 2022, 11:42:05 PM
Small or big we should appreciate what we do and how we experience to be enjoin on crypto journey. It may be small of value today but rest assured that it will appreciate through time. Also who knows by doing dca of your extra money it would grow bigger and havevan unexpected value later on. Congrats on your first purchade of BTC

I definitely agree with your statement- no matter how small or big the investment is, what matters is that the person has started and initiated investing.

I remember OP, back in 2017, I used to HODL like $5-$15 worth of BTC in my account and I felt like I was the happiest person in the world. The fact that I received BTC (which came from the proceeds of my first campaign signature) meant that my journey in cryptocurrencies had officially started. Now that you have invested and decided to HODL, this will be the start of many adventures of purchasing/selling your BTCs as the right time for profit.
1499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino Websites vs Casino Apps: Which Option is Better? on: October 29, 2022, 11:29:43 PM
....
Over to you. Having read these points, which of these in your opinion is Better?

Source

Personally, I would choose a casino website rather than casino apps.

The difference between the two (2) may be slim, but a casino website is more convenient and easier to use. The problem with casino applications is that you are limiting yourself to a certain device in order to access it. Once you download the app on your mobile phone/laptop, then that current device is tied down to it. You cannot access nor play it without using the certain device you linked to it.

In contrast, casino websites offer more flexibility and usage due to its nature. Plus, I find websites more interactive than applications since you can always have access to it whenever and wherever you are.
1500  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: gambling techniques on: October 29, 2022, 11:07:37 PM
I often use the stake doubling technique to several games. I normally do this with dice games and if it played correctly its profitable. What you have to do is simply start with a small stake and every time you lose you double your steak until you win. Once you win, you will recover all the amount you lost. This works if you have enough money to keep doubling your bet, so you should do your math and check with how much you should start. It is not infallible but it works.

The technique that you just mentioned is called "Martingale System" where you double the wager every time you incur a loss.

This kind of technique works if you have sufficient capital to fund every round of loss. The only downside is, you need a relatively huge amount of capital since the amount of betting grows exponentially as you lose. Again, we are talking about gambling where no absolute and guaranteed results are bound to happen.

My brother used to practice this technique and it worked fairly well on his favor. I remember, he started with $1/bet until it grew to $600 due to the amount of losses he experienced. Luckily, this kind of system rewards you if you experienced at least one (1) win on your favor.
