521  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 236: Holloway vs Poirier 2 Info and Prediction Thread on: April 12, 2019, 02:24:04 PM
Looking forward to this weekend, there's even some fun matchups in the undercards for a change!

Does Cloudbet blog writes review for each UFC event ?

Btw, if you click on tags in the end of article. For example Bitcoin Sports Betting - you will get forwarded to the other page. But if you click on MMA or UFC - Boom! nothing happens. 404 Page error.

I've checked the blog, there are others review, so this tags should have worked.

Great spot, looks like there's something wrong with the tagging - I'll pass that on to our content team now!

We usually try to have blogs written for all the UFC events, and sometimes for the smaller fight night's too. Here's a couple of the previous ones:

- UFC 235
- UFC 234
- Fight Night 144

Thanks,

Looking forward to this weekend, there's even some fun matchups in the undercards for a change!

We've got tips for the top matchups at UFC 236 over at the Cloudbet blog, written by our guest writer, semi-pro MMA fighter Ernesta Bukauskaite:

Max Holloway v Dustin Poirier

Although Pourier has shown advancement and calibre as a fighter, Holloway is far more nuanced. His skillset is far more advanced and his natural reactions better. He has already dramatically and unquestionably proven himself in his own weight division. We believe that this time, Holloway may be victorious.

Max Holloway to win (1.46)

Kelvin Gastelum v Israel Adesanya

Gastelum is clearly the more balanced fighter and overall has a stronger ground game with more varied finishing power. Adesanya’s strategy relies more on striking and take down defence than does Gastelum’s. However, considering the great advantage in height and reach, we would predict that Gastelum could not get close enough to make an impact with his striking or finish a take down without it being countered and that it is likely that Adesanya will take the victory.

Israel Adesanya to win (1.53)

Nikita Krylov v Ovince Saint Preux

Both fighters are experienced and balanced in their skillsets. However, whilst St. Preux may have taken the victory last time, Krylov has shown progress and greater finishing power. We believe that this time Krylov will likely be the victor.

Nikita Krylov to win (1.85)

Check out the full blog here, including a full breakdown of the games above and the other undercards.

I'll be 'submitting' (geddit!) to our expert's opinion and going with a multi on the above (~4.13)  Wink

So, here is my friendly suggestion as I care about Cloudbet because of your presence, instead of offering low bet limit offer more markets :-)

Hope it helps.

Cheers :-)

Thank you very much for the detailed feedback! I'm speaking to the head of our sportsbook teams at the moment regarding lines people would like to see added so I'll make sure to include your requests in the list  Smiley

On a side note I just put another cheeky bet on Rabada, was just talking about the game over lunch and I just have a feeling he is going to come out swinging today!

Juventus love signing old players who are past their best don’t they. The Italian league really is a retirement home isn’t it. Players go there for one last, big pay day Cheesy

Or the Chinese Super League, big money for experienced players out there.

I remember reading Oscar was getting something like 400k pw at Shanghai? Ramires too was also on a massive wage, but haven't checked if he's still there.

@TopTort777 - Right now the lines seem to be focusing on the favourites, but we should have more lines going up for Eurovision soon. I'll check with our sportsbook teams for an update now.

I did notice that this year's Russian entry won the 2009 competition after finishing second in 2007, so he's got a fair amount of 'experience' and seemingly knows how to get results. Might not be a bad pick for the early markets  Smiley

Kane is out until  rest of the season
it is official bad luck for Spurs
Personally my dream final was Juve-Ajax
Now Ajax-Barca  Ajax win 4-3

I was interested in how Kane's absence was going to affect Spur's odds going forward, and weirdly Tottenham have a higher win percentage when Kane isn't playing (although the sample size is much smaller):

With Kane:

- 39 Games
- 61.5% win percentage
- 1.9 average goals scored

Without Kane:

- 8 Games
- 66.7% win percentage
- 1.9 goals scored

(Stats from this article)

So weirdly they tend to score the same amount whether Kane is there or not, and actually his absence might not affect the team as much as I first thought. Maybe because it gives Son more freedom to roam?

Well yesterday's controversy has certainly made me look at the total extras markets for todays game!  Grin

- Over 15.5 (2.14)
- Under 15.5 (1.77)

I'm going with a comfortable win for KKR today, but i'm really looking forward to watching the battle of wits between Russell and Rabada. If DC can bring Russell down early they could be in with a slight chance, as the other KKR batsmen (like Rana) haven't been performing as well as I expected.

My picks:

- Karthik: Total Over 19.5 (1.92)
- KKR Top Batsman: Andre Russell (5.70)
- DC Top Bowler: Kagiso Rabada (3.30)
- KKR Total Runs after 10 overs: Over 76.5 (1.59)

What are you going with for today's match?

Funny to see how betting turned from simply betting on a favourite to prediction how fantasy tv series season based on a book will end.
I can already imagine how in 5 years people will place bets what colour of trousers will "one famous person" will put on in the morning.

Funny you should say that, we do have some pretty wild 5+ year bets available...  Wink

And if you like the 'Mars Landing' lines you can even place a bet on who is going to get us there!

So it's coming right down to the wire now, can't wait for Sunday  Grin

I've noticed some fairly big movement on some of the odds since they went up:

- Gendry has dropped from (7.30) down to (5.24), making him the current 3rd favourite after Bran and Jon.
- Sansa has dropped from (11.4) down to (7.46)
- Tyrion dropped slightly from (8.43) to (7.91) (but is still my personal pick for the market)
- Dany's odds lengthened slightly from (4.95) to (5.70)

Has anyone seen any rumours that could explain the above movements?

Gendry in particular is very interesting considering he was one of the outsiders I originally tipped along with Tyrion in our guide to the Game of Thrones lines.

The night king and Cersei's odds also seem to have risen slightly, which could be good news for fans of 'the good guys' in season 8?

Morning all,

@wiskat - Apologies for the delay, and thanks for providing an update. We are currently working to improve the speed at which withdrawals are processed, especially in the case of larger requests that can require manual checks from our payment team.

bakasabo - Glad to see some hockey fans in here! As far as I know we will be offering lines on the IIHF World Championship, but I'll double check with our sportsbook team and get back to you ASAP.

On more positive news, this weekend is jam-packed with big sporting events, and we've got some of the best odds and lowest margins on them all  Cheesy

Domestic football leagues:

- Man Utd v West Ham: Draw (5.21) - Margin 3.06%
- Liverpool v Chelsea: Liverpool to win (1.67) - Margin 2.58%
- Crystal Palace v Manchester City: Draw (5.58) - Margin 2.91%
- AC Milan v Lazio: Lazio to win (2.82) - Margin 2.48%
- Sevilla v Real Betis: Sevilla to win (1.74) - Margin 3.30%

IPL Cricket:

We've got margins of just 1% on our IPL lines, plus the ability to back/lay your bets with our new cricket interface!

- Kolkata Knight Riders v Delhi Capitals: KKR to win (1.67)
- Mumbai Indians v Rajasthan Royals: MI to win (1.68)
- Kings Xi Punjab v Royal Challengers Bangalore: KXIP (1.95)

UFC 236:

- Max Holloway v Dustin Poirier: Holloway to win (1.46)
- Kelvin Gastelum v Israel Adesanya: Adesanya to win (1.53)
- Nikita Krylov v Ovince Saint Preux: Krylov to win (1.85)

Game of Thrones:

There's just two days left to place your bets before the new series starts! We are seeing some definite movement on the odds, with Sansa and Gendry in particular seeing their odds shorten significantly.

Hope you all have a great weekend - enjoy the sporting action!  Smiley

I don't get it Cheesy. How do you make predictions about a thing that is literally a TV show, isn't that too risky for cloudbet ? I mean yay for us of course but it is sooooo undecided that anything could happen. I am not saying Yara Greyjoy will sit on the iron throne (would be very weird) but how come Bran is leading right now ?

I doubt he would even accept or take it, after all he is "three eyed raven" and that is all he is, he accepted his faith already, maybe he will help someone take the throne sure but taking the throne himself doesn't seem that plausible.

I think Jon Snow could be really prime for the position, dude literally had the best character arc of "not wanted bastard" to "well deserved DAKINGINDANORF" , maybe even Cersei or Danny but really looking at the odds they are not as favorites as bran who is a crippled three eyed raven, I am trying to understand how he is the favorite but I can't seem to find the reason Cheesy. Hell littlefinger is dead and he still is ahead of many people Cheesy.

I wrote our blog on the Game of Thrones betting odds and I still can't figure out why Bran is favourite at most sportsbooks. I agree that he's unlikely to even want it, I personally think he sees his role as the three eyed raven as more important than a simple throne (I ended up tipping Tyrion in the blog).

These kind of odds are usually worked out by looking at the amount of bets placed, as well as information from traders, but with 'entertainment' lines there's also the fan's rumour mill and potentially leaked production information to take into account.

I'm predicting a fairly easy win for CSK today, but there's some good value to be had in the specials markets:

- Joseph Buttler: Total Runs Over 25.5 (1.92)
- Team with highest score at 1st dismissal: Rajasthan Royals (1.89)
- Total sixes: Under 9.5 (2.00)

Dammit Butler, you couldn't have hung on for another 3 runs?!  Roll Eyes

31 runs at the first dismissal, think that one might be lost as well unless the RR bowlers go hard early on.

At least I might get something for under 9.5 6's if the batting stays this poor  Grin

Where are you guys betting? In sportsbet, I'm having 1.6 odd for Chennai in today match. I would bet if it is a little bit higher like 1.8+.

@Pffrt - We've got Chennai at 1.7 at the moment, but there's also the option to trade on back/lay lines if thats your thing.

Our margins are around 1% for the IPL so we should have some of the best odds around anyway  Wink

I'm not sure if people are subscribers over at /r/gameofthrones on Reddit, but they are currently running a pool with people voting on who will claim the Iron Throne.

I thought it would be fun to pull together the votes and convert them into decimal odds, to see how the 'wisdom of the crowd' compares to the official odds  Smiley

Looks like Jon is still the clear fan's favourite, i'm surprised how many wen't with 'nobody' though...

Anyone think the Pistons can beat the Knicks to nab the final place in the eastern playoffs?

Given their current 3-7 slump and the possibility of Griffin missing out I'm not confident in Detroit, even if NY are currently bottom of the conference with a 3-7 record of their own in the last 10 games.

My money is on the Hornets stepping up to take their spot if the Pistons lose, but they'll need to beat the Magic in what should be a close-fought game.

I'm going with:

- New York Knicks +9.5 (1.90)
- Charlotte Hornets -3.5 (2.19)

Going with Mumbai Indians for a narrow win today, they have some good momentum building after taking down CSK and SUN in their last two matches, and Joseph is currently ranked top in the tournament for best bowling figures, bowling average, and bowling economy.

That said I am worried about the strength of the Kings Xi bowlers though, Curran is performing well at the moment and there's a chance Viljoen could be back. Hoping that De Kock, Pandya, and Pollard can keep up a high strike rate against them without playing too risky.

Speaking of risky, I'm feeling like going with some longer odds today!  Wink

- Mumbai Indians Top Bowler: Alzarri Joseph (3.70)
- Team with top batter: Mumbai Indians (1.75)
- Kings Xi Punjab Total Runs after 10 overs: Under 76.5 (2.38)

Morning all,

@nurzahan - I've just asked our support team to re-send any communications to ensure you are receiving them. Could you please check and let me know if anything has come through? It might also be worth checking your spam and junk folders in case our communications got auto filtered accidentally.

@dis93 - Although I enjoy a good guessing game as much as the next guy, I'd prefer if we kept the speculation here to a minimum while our support teams resolve the issue with the player directly. Honestly I expected better from someone tagged as a 'Cloudbet shiller'  Wink

Thanks,

Huge result for Spurs last night after a hard fought battle against City, Son's goal was well taken after the City defence all stopped to wait for a whistle that never came. Great save on the penalty from Lloris to keep them in the game at ~12 minutes too, could have been a completely different game if City went 1-0 up early on. The next leg should be an exciting game as long as Tottenham don't decide to try and sit back and defend the aggregate lead next week.

Liverpool won comfortably at home as expected, I reckon they should be able to take Porto in the away leg with the 2-0 aggregate lead.

@Harkorede - Congrats on the smart picks for the Spurs/City game!

What are we thinking about tonight's games? I'm torn on who to support - I like the idea of an all-English CL final, but I don't like Man Utd  Tongue

Man Utd v Barcelona - Total Goals: Over 2.5 (1.81)
Ajax v Juventus - Juve to win and BTTS: Yes (4.65)

^ Thinking about a long shot on Juve tonight!

Lets see what Russell does in this situation.
Not that much he can do because it's CSK, Dhoni is there. However, I didn't expect such match. Chahar is a charm. They just lost their 5th wickets, Kartik is gone. Cloudbet seems to be lost in huge bet today.

Karthik got over 17.5, but I don't think Tahir is going to finish as CSK's top bowler this game which might kill the multi  Sad
