BTC-e is huge exchange, but it could be dangerous since the owner is anonymous & their customer support isn't too good
You better use BitStamp or BitFinex. BUt, you also can use Coinbase or Circle since the process is easier Smiley

Yes, it could be dangerous since owner is anonymous but not dangerous as "owner-known" exchanges like Coinbase, Bitstamp, Bitfinex and Circle.
723  Other / Meta / Re: Negative Trusts (Suggestions) on: July 17, 2015, 11:41:49 AM
1. Loan without collateral: Newbies who ask for loans mention that they won't offer any collateral. Their account is a newbie one and hence it can't fetch any money. Secondly, why will any sensible person offer a loan to a newbie without a collateral? They are just trolling and hence they deserve a negative feedback.

 -snip-

Quote
The negative trust rating system should also have a few options for the person giving the neg. trust, like some simple reasons why they do so. Some of the reasons there are now out there might be invalid, for all you know, and the member might have changed, so the neg. trust should not be valid anymore. Perhaps there could be a certain span for the neg. trust, depending on the situation. Otherwise, it would be unfair to those who got neg. trusts for not reading the threads carefully, and have a neg. trust rating with them for life.

 -snip-

@bold: I haven't seen such ratings given by DT members. Other negative trusts given do not matter as those members aren't in the DT list. If they spam the trust ratings, they are banned.

 -snip-

Actually, negative trust feedback "newbie asking for loan without collateral" is given for not reading the sticky in Lending child-board.

It looks like his IP address is 70.208.200.218 which resolves to Verizon wireless. It looks like he is probably using a Skype app on his phone.

"Looks like"?  Where are you getting this information?  Were you in contact with him recently?
Look at the post directly above the one you quoted and you can see where I got the information. It is very public.

The screenshot posted by deadly?  I see that it meantions two domains he owns: mmoclub.com and bitcoinminerz.com.  DNS for those sites resolves to
92.232.216.170, 162.246.56.115, respectively (which are probably IPs for hosting companies, I doubt he hosts his websites at his house).  Where do you get the 70.208.200.218 address?

You can use Skype resolver/grabber to get IP but you can prevent this if you want. Eg:- http://skypegrab.net/resolver.php & http://resolvethem.com/.

726  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC wallet question (Greenbits wallet) on: July 17, 2015, 10:31:59 AM
Hi there,
I am new to btc world, I had read some article and decided to use Greenbits app as my BTC wallet.
It is great and simple, however, it is a bit diffenece between my exp with blockchain.info

Don't use Blockchain.info wallet.

First, they will provide the new address when I need recieve funds,
just wondering will my 'old' address still work or I need to provide the 'new' address everytime?
like in sign campign, faucets...

I think it will work but I have not tried it yet. Try sending a small amount to one of your old addresses and see if your balance increases.

Also, upon received the money, I need to wait for 6 confirmations until I can send them out,
but I don't think I need 6 confirmations in blockchain.info, 1 (or zero) can be do.

Is that some of my setting problems? or it is normal for Greenbits?

It is good to wait till a transaction get some confirmations. Especially now, I highly recommend you to wait for 30 confirmations or at least, 10.

-snip-

Thanks for the clarification above.

But just wondering whats the point to have a 'new' address for everytime receive.
For safety reason?

Using a different address every transaction helps with anonymity and security. I don't know all the details, but from what I have heard, if you use the same address over and over you become exponentially more at risk for someone to hack into your wallet. I am unsure the logistics of hacking into a wallet, but I would assume that the more you use the same address, the easier it is to track the address to a person, and once a hacker has an identity, they can attempt to steal your passwords that you could use to access your wallet. Do not quote me on this, this is just my educated guess.

Not reusing will also help you from exposing your private key due to low randomness. This mostly happens when using a buggy client.

Currently, we can not copy private key. Can you fix it? Also, dropped transactions are being re-broadcasted indefinitely. Please don't re-broadcast transaction, instead, show a warning when transaction is dropped.

733  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: GreenAddress.it - Help? on: July 13, 2015, 03:48:11 PM
GreenAddress has a desktop and mobile app, just don't use the web wallet version as per warning from the site itself.
 -snip-

True but everything is stored in their server which makes it an online wallet.

737  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Sign a message with JoinMarket? Need to Sign to receive money? on: July 11, 2015, 07:38:38 AM
Thanks Amph and ikydesu.

I understand, so sign message is optional. In general, when people ask to sign a message? When you buy BTC? When you sell BTC? Or when do you buy a product with BTC?

There is no general case but people ask mostly when they suspect you are an impostor.

So every time that I do a transaction my wallet software generates a transaction id (tx id), right?

It's not your wallet software. Bitcoin transactions contains txid but is not generated by your wallet.

On this example of tx id: https://blockchain.info/tx/6e6828e9c03c998aa2b80a5c8c4d9fed69331c226074ae5747bc1971e1d60d94

This number is TX id 6e6828e9c03c998aa2b80a5c8c4d9fed69331c226074ae5747bc1971e1d60d94 correct?

I didn't understand what you mean by "number is txid". 6e6828e9c03c998aa2b80a5c8c4d9fed69331c226074ae5747bc1971e1d60d94 is txid of that transaction.

This wallet 19ro4oQWS3RfVFtJRGRpaEBVuyPUoyzqi9 sent 0.0495 BTC, right?

Yes and that is address, not wallet.

It also display:

1NEA6ckomtrjVCbgXpYWQ1s6D38ECTwNF3 - (Spent) 0.0294 BTC
1B9Hbrcd9sSMg4acHBttjvYE9kucmNEG1k - (Spent) 0.02 BTC

Does it means that the guy that received the money already used 0.0296BTC?

Those two addresses may not belong to same persons and yes, those coins were already spent. You can see the transaction which uses those outputs by clicking 'Spent'.

What means the included blocks? Is it the main big blocked processed by miner pools with tons of transactions?

A block is a set of transactions. Your transaction needs to be included in block or else, that transaction will be dropped and the receiver won't get Bitcoins you send. You can see confirmations in transaction details. 1 confirmation means it was included in a block, 2 confirmation means a block was generated over the previous block and so on.

I see a huge number of confirmations. What happen if this name is small? What is a safe number?

Less confirmations means less blocks were generated over the block this transaction was included. 6 confirmations are generally accepted confirmation number though 2-3 confirmations are probably enough. However, it depends on the party involved. But now, 30 confirmations are recommended because of the blockchain split.

Ohhh, now I understand how people track transactions, by wallet number you could see who send to who. Like this:

https://blockchain.info/address/19ro4oQWS3RfVFtJRGRpaEBVuyPUoyzqi9

Thanks.

Good.
738  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the cold storage wallet? on: July 11, 2015, 06:19:52 AM
-snip-

I mean what's those private keys look like when stored in offline hard disk or USB's? Like a file ? So it have file extensions?

When you export the private key, the file is usually looks like "wallet.dat"

That's I want to know. So .dat is the file extension. Thanks for the info Sir.

No. There is no certain extension for files with private keys. Wallet.dat contains a few other things other than private keys and you will need a wallet which is compatible with that wallet.dat. Therefore, it is better to save private keys in a text file. If you want, encrypt it.

740  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: July 10, 2015, 04:41:51 PM
Hi,
How can i "loop" the generator so he can create more and more addresses for me when he finished the first one? instead of checking the machine each hour/day to see if its over and then press "enter" again..

Tnx!

Use -k and you always use -o <name> to save the addresses and private keys generated to that file.

Eg:- vanitygen.exe -k 1MZakir -o asd.txt
