901  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Amagi Metals - Largest Selection of Gold & Silver for Bitcoins on: May 03, 2013, 04:08:10 AM
Any plans to carry platinum and/or palladium?
902  Economy / Goods / Re: Glass Pipes on: May 03, 2013, 03:13:11 AM
That looks like some nice work.  I really like the fish design.  Do you do other animal forms?

I once had an awesome "pig" bowl.  It had pink stripes, with a snout/mouth, eyes, and ears.  Unfortunately it was not made of very thick material, and one day it met a tragic end.

Do you think you could make something like that?
903  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Organizing CardReaderFactory Lancelot Group Purchase (Goal 100+ Units) on: May 02, 2013, 11:26:06 AM
You can put me down for 10 units.

To be clear, I plan to resell zero or more of these at a profit once I have them in-hand.  I do hope that no one has a problem with this.  Anyone is free to join this GB themselves now to secure a lower price.

I may commit to additional units if funds allow.

That's you, huh?

I'm pretty happy that we dont have TV in our house.. What a relief...  Peacefull time,..

<-- TV-free since 2004, baby.

Well, I guess I do have *a* TV, but I don't have TV service, so I don't receive all the crap that floats by in "the stream".

do you dare to bet on the bet on my signature ;p

Given the site involved, no way.  I've been burned once.

Post it up on bitbet.us, and I'd think differently.
906  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs just sent me an update e-mail! on: May 02, 2013, 02:48:32 AM
Just saw their cute toll-free number on their site now:

CALL US: 1-800-809-MINE (6463)

I'd been thinking they should have 1-800-BFL-RIGS for some time now.  That would be cooler.

I also saw that they'll want an extra $210 for the "express [domestic] shipping" upgrade on 2 Jalapeņos (basic shipping cost me $14).  No thanks.  An extra $21 would be reasonable, but $210 is just gouging.
907  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs just sent me an update e-mail! on: May 02, 2013, 02:40:43 AM
Sure looks like a box of fans to me.

So, uh, are those both intakes on the sides, and the exhaust is on the top, like with the FPGA Singles?  They need to move the top fan shroud up so it's even with the edges of the larger fan shrouds.
908  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Just received official email from BFL, my Jale's are on the way... on: May 02, 2013, 01:48:43 AM
PHP isn't very good for scaling, every request is a totally separate action and it doesn't look like they're using caching. What PHP is good for is small stuff because it's quick and easy to understand.

BTW, disabling diagnostic errors on public-facing sites is COMPSCI101 stuff. If this happened on a webapp I'd worked on I would be fired on the spot.

I agree... someone is going to get ... schooled ... tomorrow.  I'm very displeased at the moment.

It's good he's only displeased.  You wouldn't like him when he's angry.

Hope the sick is not H7N9.

I don't know what that is, but I had some nasty flu or something knock be out real suddenly on Sunday.  I'm still not back to work yet on Wednesday, though I'm planning to go tomorrow.

Very sudden and brutal.

I'm located a few hundred miles south of Yifu.
910  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Email Update from Avalon Just In on: May 02, 2013, 12:24:20 AM
Nice to see there's progress, but a little disappointing they said they'd started shipping 2 weeks ago but are only just getting the SMT machines set up now...

I got the impression they were referring to a second SMT line, to supplement their first, though this could be an incorrect assumption.

Quote from: Avalon 25-March email newsletter
around this period we are suppose to take this time to organize, make some changes and install a brand new SMT line in our facility. This upgrade will effectively double our production capacity, it enable us to put Avalon into the hands of our customer even faster. The new line is currently scheduled to come online during the last week of April.
911  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Now available: Lancelot (Heavy Duty 2 x FPGA Mining Board) on: May 01, 2013, 10:15:23 PM
As I understand it, Beaflag is in 'England / Great Britain / United Kingdom'.
I don't know which nation/region name is preferred. Smiley

Is anyone coordinating to get a batch shipment to USA?

GB Coordinator = Group Buy Coordinator

I'm in the United States. I also had a member on here PM asking me about ordering 20 units to Germany. I have no issue with shipping outside of the United States for anyone who is interested. We just need to hit the 100 number and we all save.

How many more units are needed to hit 100?

I suggest making a separate thread for this effort.

we need your confirmation prior to release of your order into the final build queue and on to final delivery.

Very dodgy wording, seemingly designed to imply that a faster "confirmation" will result in a more advanced position in the queue, without actually saying so.
913  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs just sent me an update e-mail! on: May 01, 2013, 09:27:09 PM
Same here, though the site worked for a couple minutes.

I guess they sent the emails all at once, and the mass rush knocked over the site.

self.pwn();
914  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Wafer Broke? on: May 01, 2013, 09:01:45 PM
Wow some of you guys must have A LOT of time on your hands. I'd really like to know what happened with the chips. Some say wafer busted, some say chips lost. Will we ever know what really happened?

My reckoning is the "busted" wafer being mentioned may actually the "burned" wafer that was sacrificed for early testing in a wire-bonding rig.

Or they could be having yield problems, and one wafer in particular aside from the "burned" one was so bad it had to be scrapped entirely.

It sounds a bit like they are hoping for better results from their next round of wafers.  Whether this is the second set of 6 wafers, or the set of 50+ "mass production" wafers being waited on at this point, I'm not clear on.
915  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC-e.com locked wallet on: May 01, 2013, 08:50:21 PM
Well that took a while, but I got BTC-e repaid now, and they unlocked my account like they said they would.
916  Economy / Digital goods / [Gauging Interest] 50 BTC virgin block on: May 01, 2013, 08:45:40 PM
I thought I'd see if there's any kind of market for these.

I have in my wallet, a 50 BTC block reward, solo-mined directly into my wallet in 2011, and never spent since.  I thought I'd see if anyone has any interest in buying it for some amount above 50 BTC.

I would export the private key and securely transfer it to the buyer.  The buyer would have to trust me that I'm not keeping a copy of the private key.

Any interest?

FYI, "forum time" changes based on what timezone you have set in your user profile.  Could you clarify the timezone to be used in this auction?

Buying ASICs a lot more like buying a bag of crack than ordering a cheeseburger.
919  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 2 Batch's of avalon chips available - 6.1btc w/ zefir's batch #1 + 20.1btc chips on: May 01, 2013, 05:10:05 PM
I'd be interested in the Zefir chips, but since there is no good way to transfer ownership prior to delivery, I would want the funds to be held in escrow until delivery takes place.

I would also want the private key associated with the order, so that I can send Zefir signed messages with shipping instructions.

It's 70 chips, right?

<stuff applicable to real-world business>

What you say may all hold true in a normal company/market, but it goes right out the window here.

The nature of the product is such that it sells itself.  For every 1 person turned off by Josh's antics, 10 more will place new orders, lured by the promise of easy money.

I concur that Josh is a complete douchenozzle, and I would love to see him get what he deserves.

With that said, I still ordered from BFL despite Josh and everything else that is wrong with BFL, and plan to hold my orders until they are fulfilled (I'm thinking December-ish).  For me it's a business decision.

(I also ordered from some other ASIC-makers.)
