Right now mining MRO or QCN with CPU are very PROFITABLE. I don't think it will last but MRO or QCN's profitability is still on high ride for over 2 week already. My old core i5 earned me with QCN roughly 0.1BTC per day.
Why don't you think that if cryptonight were gpu-mineable, everyone will jump in and kill your profit ? It already happened with every CPU-only coin. Look at Heavy, Riecoin and now Primecoin.
Btw IMHO Christian has enough things to do with ccminer already so it is best for him, and for us too, to let him concentrate in what he's planning to do.

It is like the dude here who earned with his 780 GTX 0.1BTC/day with CureCoin. The early bird catches the worm, right?  Btw, I just calculate with the current diff and current price of QCN so you could earn 1$/day with one CPU. It is still 4 times more profitable than others CPU-coins. That's not very fair AizenSou. There was no screaming here, in fact, I was just responding to the poster that was asking others to join at the attempt of guessing what "new algo" C&C were working on. In any case, since you asked, my motivation for a GPU miner is quite simple: I have 2x really old Xeons, and 4x 750TIs, and that's really all that I mine with (I'm not much into the cloud/renting approach to be honest, don't get as much fun out of it). For the technical aspects, and to diversify a little, I am aiming to mine some Monero. If all I can through at it are the 2x old Xeons, then so be it. These are making me little over 1 coin a day. If I could have the 750TIs also on it, with reasonable performance, I'd be happy to mine some more. That's it... Side note: I think C&C get's his "fix" from the challenge really, so the harder it is, all the better, and more fun is had along the way. DRK is really amazing. Everytime, bull or bear trend, sell orders are in most cases lower than buy orders. To be honest I prefer DRK to crash so I can get more DRK but I can't think of many scenarios which DRK crashes lower than 0.019 anymore. The number of MN has increased over 70% last day, that means there was a lot of demand for MN, despite of the price now.
Yes, buy/strong ratio is very good. Lot of money to be made when bots trigger flash panic. I was chuckling like mad when the bot spread not more than 10BTC worth of DRK from 0.025 to ~0.0225 and some folks still sold below (for which I'm thankful). 95% chance you won't see 0.019, I figured absolute bottom this morning at 0.0220 - was off very little and got all my traps filled, bounce back was quite swift. There might be one more cycle back to 0.022 in the afternoon (not sure about it though), and then buckle up for the rest of week. Yeah you're right buddy. I underestimated the market a little bit and to be honest I'm little greedy too , so my trap @ 0.021 didn't get filled  |

Thinking C&C have "sensed" the big bucks to be made on Monero. Even if GPUs would have only a slight performance increase over a high spec CPU, there's some massive potential there. I think other coins are following suit to increase their privacy features (myself a confessed CACHE fan ), but Monero is a very special case in this regard (if it keeps making the right steps as it moves forward). If anyone else wants to make this one a 'bounty', I'll be happy to pledge 1 week's worth of a 750TI mining Monero, as long as the mining performance is above that of a reasonable spec CPU (say the i7 4770K for example). Preferably many times faster Happy mining, ~ Myagui Why do people always scream for GPUminer for every coin? I think a few true CPU-only coins are good. Btw as far as I know, Cryptonote uses egalitarian proof of work. It is even harder to make GPUminer than prime number. Someone correct me, maybe? |

Funny is everytime I sold and check later, the price increases So it is maybe best to dump 1/2 and keep 1/2. let us know the next time you plan to sell... it seems there is a pattern here I prepare to sell now djm34 . This coin has a great active development staff." Then the coin gets pumped and dumped and you have so many bagholders. But DRK seems different to me. It seems as though whenever a whale sells a lot there is an even bigger whale there to support the price. Exactly. DRK is the first alt which truly stand out. Look at the top 100 richest wallet, the most of them are buying more. If the whales don't fear, should we? Panic sell to 0.019 and one hour later it climbs back to almost 0.024. DRK is really amazing beyond any expectation. |

even minting is becoming profitable (I didn't sell any... but I have only 4.2M). The buy volume is rather low, could be just one buyer... I was lucky enough to find a block yesterday with the 750ti... don't think it will happen again... (will need more effort from the X11 crowd to promote all these X11 coins) I owned 30 million JPC a week ago and sold em for 2 Satoshis each, because I didn't expect this coin to go anywhere.
