I'm afraid Onana is really a wrong choice for Manchester United at the moment. I wasn't expecting him to perform like this when he first came here honestly. Because you must all know how he performed for Inter last season. He increased his market value quite high after that performance. This improved the expectations from him when he arrived at Manchester United.
However he is still making simple mistakes. The first goal he conceded last night was really embarrassing. A goalkeeper at this level shouldn't make this kind of a mistake. I think Onana won't last too long in the starting eleven if he continues like this.
Of course, such mistakes are never expected from a goalkeeper like him but he is human so he has to take this mistake naturally because mistakes are human. Maybe we can now think that if he had not made such mistakes in the beginning, maybe Manchester United could have gone ahead in this match or Manchester United could have left the field with a draw. If we are Manchester United supporters, we should be satisfied with the way Manchester United performed. The small mistakes that Manchester United made against Bayern Munich certainly cannot be made in the next match. We need to learn from the mistakes of the match against Bayern Munich and replace those mistakes in the next match. Manchester United will be back again and strong in the next Champions League match. Of course he is human. However he has started to make such mistakes more often these days. He wasn't like this in the previous season. Maybe before Inter Onana was known with these mistakes again but he made huge progress at Inter. He was even one of the goalkeepers with most saves in the Champions League. The problem is that he is an inconsistent goalkeeper I'm afraid. He just can't maintain his strong look for at least a couple of seasons regularly. But I hope he proves me wrong and make improvement as soon as possible. The Red Devils are already having hard days in the end. |

I have heard that Tottenham are preparing to trigger the option to extend Son's contract. It is currently until 2025 but after this it will be 2026. This would be amazing news for Tottenham side because they wouldn't like to lose another significant player in a short time. Kane has newly left the team in the end.
The new manager Ange Postecoglou has been doing a really good job. Tottenham need their squad staying strong at the same time. If they lose more power they would turn into an even much less competitive team. They already have a bad history without titles for ages.

Empoli manager Paolo Zanetti has been sacked after the huge loss against Roma. I think this was the right call for the team. Because so far they haven't collected any points and they have conceded 12 goals while scoring 0. This is just the worst kind of a start you can make honestly. They should be able to do better to stay away from the relegation zone again.
Aside from that Inter are the only team without point loss so far. They are really striking in the Serie A this season. However they struggled too much against Real Sociedad in the Champions League last night. They should consider themselves lucky for scoring the equalizer in the last minutes.
Italian participation in this round of Champions League wasn't successful anyway, maybe only for Napoli which won their game, also in the last minutes of the game. Inter got a draw vs Real Sociedad, Milan got a draw also but vs Newcastle making things more interesting inside the groups. By the way even Lazio was able to bring a draw from an away game by the header of the goalkeeper. I can agree with that. Even Napoli struggled against Braga and found the winning goal in the last minutes. Milan could have won against Newcastle actually but they wasted too many goal opportunities. Especially in the first half the score would have been a huge one already. It was an unlucky day for Milan. Lazio really saved an important point there by a special goal in the last moments. I would have never expected their goalkeeper to score a goal there.  This must be a good result for Lazio considering how tough their opponent was. |

I'm curious about whether the next game can be the one for Manchester United to start recovering. They are going to play an away game against Burnley. This can really be the one for the Red Devils considering Burnley's current condition. Burnley haven't still won a game so far so they should be in worse shape than them.
Manchester United are on a losing streak of three games now together with the Bayern Munich game. They were really solid at scoring goals against Bayern Munich away but their defending wasn't good at all. Onana also made mistakes. If they do better about that they can beat Burnley.

Barcelona's incredible form continues. They won against Betis and Antwerp by the same score, 5-0. They are still unbeaten and they are on a great winning streak at the same time. Next time they are hosting Celta Vigo in the La Liga and this should be a very comfortable game for Barcelona honestly.
Celta Vigo are one of the teams making the worst start to the season. I don't expect them to resist Barcelona until the end. I remember the game between Celta Vigo and Real Madrid of course. Real Madrid barely won by a late goal. But here in Camp Nou I don't give them that much chance.

We are starting the week with a Monaco - Nice game which I expect to be quite competitive. Monaco are the favourite side to win of course but we can't overlook how Nice started the season at the same time. Before anything else Nice beat PSG in an away game recently. This win should be a big help for them to motivate themselves against Monaco as well.
Technically Monaco have made a better start than PSG to the league so Nice had better make at least the same effort they did in the last game. Monaco are really successful against them in home games in general. But Nice beat them 3-0 in the previous season. Therefore I'm not sure about who can win but I think we will watch a competitive game with both teams' scoring.

Since the Community Shield game Manchester City haven't lost or got a draw. Most probably this will continue by their next game as well because the opponent is Nottingham. I wonder how long this streak will continue. Maybe it might go on like this until the Arsenal game in October. As it is in Emirates Manchester City might have difficulties in winning.
But no matter what they are still the biggest favourite to win the Premier League title. I just hope they don't pull away from others early. This would make the league a little boring. Last season was really nice in terms of this thanks to Arsenal's effort.

Turkish teams have completed the day nicely. First Fenerbahce played a home game against Nordsjaelland. This was technically one of the toughest games of the group for them but the game was quite comfortable for them. The final score might seem 3-1 but it would have been even a more solid victory as Fenerbahce wasted many opportunities as well.
On the other hand Besiktas managed to steal one point from a tough away game. They played against Club Brugge and I didn't like their game much in general. But even though getting 1-0 behind they managed to score the equalizer in the last minutes. This one point is valuable as it might even decide the leader later on.

Group B has started wonderful. Both of the games being played are going on with many goals and there is a tie for both now. Ajax - Marseille is 3-3 and Brighton - AEK is 2-2 now. I'm surprised with the Brighton game the most because I wasn't expecting Brighton to have this much difficulty.
While I was making this post Brighton conceded another goal, unbelievable! It looks like they really don't want to achieve something good in the Europa League. I don't think they have such option considering their history with European competitions. They are normally the second biggest title contender according to bookmakers.

Real Madrid are continuing on their winning streak by beating Union Berlin in the Champions League as well. But now they are going to face a bigger challenge. They are going to play a Madrid derby away. Atletico Madrid lost against Valencia by a really disappointing score gap. Right after that they shared points with Lazio in the Champions League by conceding a last minute goal.
They would be demoralized of course but they really need a proper result against Real Madrid to recover. Getting good results in this kind of games is always important. But can they do this? Honestly I still think Real Madrid will win this game as well while they are in much better condition.

Union Berlin got a goal in the last minute in their first Champignon League match. Union Berlin had a real defensive battle against Real Madrid, especially in the second half. The defence prevented Real Madrid from scoring for a long time. Union Berlin will play against Hoffenheim at Saturday. Hopefully the defence will have recovered by then. Because Hoffenheim has always scored 3 goals in the last 3 games.
I really admired Union Berlin's resistance. Because honestly I thought Real Madrid would simply beat them in Santiago Bernabeu. Because there was a big quality difference between these teams. But if Union Berlin can resist them this much in an away game then I wonder what would happen in Germany. But this would be plain logic of course. Until then probably Vinicius would be back as well and Real Madrid would improve their scoring performance more. Because this Real Madrid isn't the one we are used to watch. They are creating many opportunities but there is a problem on finishing. |

Manchester United are to deal with various problems these days. It seems like it won't be easy for them to pull themselves together soon. But if they don't make any proper progress until the end of the first half of the season then Erik ten Hag could be under the danger of sacking.
I won't criticize him harshly for the defeat against Bayern Munich though. Because it was already a very difficult game for them on paper. I was even expecting a really comfortable win for Bayern Munich. But despite their scoring 4 goals the Red Devils still answered with 3 goals.

Regarding Joao Felix and Cancelo, if they can be consistent with their performance, it is very likely that Xavi will try to make them permanent at the end of the season. It could be that by releasing several other players, it will cover the costs of recruiting both or one of them.
City want to do away with Joao Cancelo, just the same way Athletico Madrid want to sell Joao Felix, but the problem is the wages in their contract and the signing fee that the two clubs would request. Barcelona are in a financial mess, thus i don't think they can cover all these and make it work, even if they release a few players. There is a pretty high probability that the both players will return to their clubs after the loan spell is over, and from there the club will prolly work on their exit to clubs that can afford them. The thing between Manchester City and Joao Cancelo was really interesting by the way. Everything was going on fine actually but suddenly the relationship between became much worse. I was very surprised when I first hear about his being loaned to Bayern Munich. Because his performance was really good until then. Now he has been loaned to Barcelona. I'm feeling sure that he would be sold as well if there is any team to make an offer. It must be some in-team problem between Cancelo and Manchester City. I would have liked to see him playing for them as he is a really talented player. |

Manchester United have just scored their second goal but Bayern Munich are still leading by 3-2 in the last minutes. I think this will probably end up with Bayern Munich's victory. But still the Red Devils won't lose by a big goal gap at least. If that happened I can't imagine how much more demoralized they would be.
Manchester United will be at the last position after this result. But I don't expect this to last long. Because they are still the favourite team for the second position and I don't expect another thing than that to happen. Galatasaray or Copenhagen need to play much better against them to surprise us.

Chelsea are going to host Aston Villa in their next game. Chelsea are favoured quite much by bookmakers but I don't have the same idea with them. Because there is literally no reason for this gap of odds. What is the reasoning in the first place? Aston Villa have started the season much better than them.
Of course Chelsea have a much better squad quality but is their game convincing enough? No way. I would never place a bet on Chelsea while they are playing this weak. I might think of betting on Aston Villa's double chance maybe as I trust them more. Chelsea just need to get rid of Jackson in the starting eleven as soon as possible too.

Union Berlin is an easy target for Real Madrid. Even if the game was going to be played in Germany I don't think anything would have changed. Real Madrid seem way stronger than the previous season now. Even with a few important injuries they are still continuing solid on their way. This is the first ever game between these teams too by the way.
When it comes to the Atletico Madrid game I expect Real Madrid to win that one also. Atletico Madrid's result against Lazio last night was disappointing. They should have had a bigger score advantage to prevent Lazio from being hopeful. I don't expect a big goal gap of course but Real Madrid should win this one too.

Dortmund improved their morale quite much after beating Freiburg by 4-2. But this happiness didn't last long because they lost to PSG by 2-0 last night. It was a tough game for them of course and they played even away. They needed to defend them as good as possible but I can't say Dortmund are one of the good teams about defending.
PSG have been having hard days actually. They just lost to Nice home but this didn't affect them at all in the Champions League game. However I don't think Dortmund are very unhappy now as a loss was already quite probable to be seen.

I was really surprised with the result of the Milan - Newcastle game. Milan was in full control of the game. Newcastle started to play even more defensive after realizing that they can't fight back much. Milan had so many goal opportunities in both half but there was still no goal at the end.
Especially the first half was something else. Milan wasted unbelievable goal opportunities. Newcastle should consider themselves lucky about this one point. The result could have been much worse for them if Milan were a little better at finishing.
