2481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bitcoin core directory reset on mac on: October 21, 2017, 12:07:49 PM
Hello! how do i reset the directory path of bitcoin core on macos?

i accidentaly choose the entire folder of application support.....

I'm not an expert on macos, but isn't that like any other generic path, so something like this;

Quote

   1. echo $PATH and copy it's value
   2. export PATH=""
   3. export PATH="/path/you/want/to/keep"
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/15872666/how-to-remove-entry-from-path-on-mac

Then readd it with the right path to bitcoin Core? What version of MacOS are you using?

If this isn't fixing it, maybe reset your $PATH in general and readd the right bitcoin core  directory??

Is there any update on the new forum software Theymos has been working on?

Probably sometime next year.

Yes.

I couldn't find any other update on when the new forum layout will be released. All i know is that this, -> https://github.com/epochtalk/epochtalk is their github for the new forum, where you can follow all the new development.

I've searched and found numerous other threads on when the forum will be released, and no one really knows the answer.

with the current state of it http://beta.bitcointalk.org , i'm starting to get a bit worried aswell ;/
2483  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Questions about Total Receive and Final Balance on blockchain on: October 21, 2017, 10:35:44 AM
I am new to bitcoin and there is one thing which I don't really understand is the Total Received and Final Balance. I have searched some public addresses of `rich guys` on BlockChain and all I see is that they have high Total Received of BTC like 6.5xxx and their final balance is 0.12xxx.

Why is that so? Have they spent bitcoin from their address/wallet? Or have they transferred their bitcoin to other addresses? But why isn't the final balance completely zero and left some small amounts like 0.12....?

It means they didn't spend all their inputs, but did sent away most of his bitcoin..

Lets say he once received 6.38 bitcoin, and once 0.12 bitcoin.

His total received at that time would be 6.5, so would his Final Balance be, until he transfers his 6.38 Bitcoin to someone else, or another adress he owns, for example in his own wallet.

The final balance will be lowered to 0.12, but received will stay the same.

So yes, your assumption was correct. It just means they spent most of their original inputs.

Do you have the ID of the adress you are talking about? I might be able to clear it up for you?
2484  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some worries about BTC/USDT trading exchanges on: October 20, 2017, 08:07:04 PM
From the keyword 'USD Tether' in Google, they confirm 1:1 trade to real USD. It sees itself as real USD.
"Tether converts cash into digital currency, to anchor or tether the value to the price of national currencies like the ... So 1 USD₮ is always equivalent to 1 USD."

They say that 1 USDT is equivalent to 1 USD, but don't actually mean it. Read their disclaimer that I posted above.

Even if it is backed 1:1, it still doesn't trade 1:1 most of the time..

Whenever there a major crash, or a major pump, USDT either devalues / becomes overvalued, which makes sense, but is also kind of weird at the same time, since you would think that would correct rather quickly.

It fluctuates ~0.5% daily, and with major events up to 3-4%?

2486  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question about the forum on: October 19, 2017, 07:50:12 PM
Is it possible to change email of my account here??

Yes. Go to Profile, -> Account related settings -> Email Adress, and change it.

Or simply go to this link -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1169190;sa=account , and change it.

Remember that it will show up in your trust, as "EMAIL CHANGED", some people might find it annoying / untrustworthy that you changed it, so i would only do it if it was really necessarily.

Thank you very much for such info!! Hmm.. it’s bad about the trust. But what’s wrong if I want to change my email to another one??

It’s a strange thing but in my profile I see my nickname instead of my email. I see my email only when I refresh the page and it appears only for 1 sec. after that I see my nickname there..

Some people might think your account got hacked / sold, but because you are using such a relative low-ranked account, ( Jr. Member), it doesn't really matter anyways.

2488  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Livecoinwatch - real-time market data and personalized portfolio tracker on: October 19, 2017, 06:31:20 PM
https://LiveCoinWatch.com

A friend and I have created a realtime cryptocurrency price analysis website that streams updates for different market data(volume, prices, percentage change, etc.), and tracks user portfolio earnings. Our site reduces the time it takes to collect market information, allowing you to predict volatile market fluctuations and give more opportunities to conduct arbritrage. We also have a customizable portfolio tracker which will allow you to analyze the growth of your capital. We are avid followers of the crypto community and will actively take in suggestions given by the community for future updates. The site is currently in Beta and will have weekly updates to provide more analytics for the crypto economy. The website is completely free, with no subscriptions and any suggestion/feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

That looks pretty nice, and everything seems to work well. I could see this being a competitor to http://coinmarketcap.com, however i personally dislike the font of all the market caps a little bit, , but that's just my opinion.

Also, might be an idea to make the graphs / icoins clickable, instead of only the name of the coin.

I can't access your site, i get the following message, "Не доступно на территории вашей страны", and everything is gray.

Why is this? Could my VPN be the reason that this is happening or?

Might be something to add in your OP, which countries you allow and which you don't...

the website interface is nice,
i hope you can add SG server for vpn soon.

The next servers we are going to add will be located in San Francisco and Singapore. We are just finishing up a few things for the VPN client and web app before doing so. Thanks for the suggestion.

Where are you guys located? I see Panama on the homepage of your site?

Are you guys legally required to hold logs of your users / customers, and if so, how much / in which case do you report them? Quite interesting to know about that.

You basically register everything we do?
2492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin core and armory on external hard drive - Help on: October 19, 2017, 03:23:19 PM
Hello folks-
I am using a macbook and I would like to run/store Core and Armory blocks from an external hard drive.  How can I do this?

What exactly do you mean by armoury? The wallet, https://www.bitcoinarmory.com/ ? You should be able to just download that for mac, and it should work fine.

Ofcourse you can also use bitcoincore, but that seems unnecessary to me, if you already use armory..

What am i missing, what isn't working?
2493  Other / Meta / Re: Who bans someone without warning and also no explanation and no way to contact on: October 19, 2017, 02:28:45 PM
Hi there,

I just got banned today and I am trying to find out why.
I sent an email to: banappeals-..... @theymos.e4ward.com and nobody even looked at it?

I must have done something very bad to get banned straight away without warning, could someone reach out?

Thanks

I've seen alot of people wondering why they got banned. Maybe link your original account here, you probably copy-pasted someone else's work for your signature.

Or did your account got nuked? Either way, add a link to your OP, and i might be able to help you out.

Seems like a good initiative, although i would recommend you  to buy a real domain, It's only ~5$ and it increases your SEO by a ton.

Noone is going to find your site other then this forum with that domain. + The fact that people think blogspot domains are 1990, and full with viruses, ( which is pretty much true ). Noone really uses them anymore.
2495  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin limits on: October 19, 2017, 11:37:46 AM
Thanks guys for your answers , but I still have an other question to ask : according to what you said , bitcoin is going to be rare , right? So its price will be more valuable , won't it?

Bitcoin itself will become "rare" in the future, but the technology around it won't.
The question is going to be if something that is technological way superior to bitcoin, would be able to effectively replace bitcoin. See ethereum for example.

But then again, some people don't hold bitcoin for the technological aspect, but more because of their ideological views.
2496  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can it be true ? on: October 19, 2017, 11:15:28 AM
You don't lose bitcoin, you lose FIAT !

Not true, if you buy 100$ worth of bitcoin on some shady exchange, ( which is ~ 0.02BTC), and they have a standard fee of 0.001, which is ~5.5$ (5.5% in fees) currently, you lose both bitcoin AND fiat.

Either find another exchange where you can choose the fees yourself, or, buy more Bitcoin  Grin

Which exchange are you currently using ? Coinbase? I might know some better exchanges, depending where you are from.
2497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sent BCC to a BTC adress... and now I don't know where are they! on: October 18, 2017, 08:10:03 PM
Hi guys,

I'm sure u crossed this b4 so sorry for disturbing. Yet I read so many posts and forums (1 day research!) and found no answer. Either I find people saying don't worry, BCC and BTC have same adresses so u can get back ur funds (but nothing worked) or I find people say very technical stuff I don't get (that's why I came to u IT experts^^).
The situation is very basic: I changed some BTC to BCC in Changelly, then gave changelly a BTC adress to send BCC, instead of giving a BCC adress...what a stupid mistake!! (Tell me there is hope, pleaaaaaaase, these funds are crucial 4 me...)
So guys, please, if anywone already SOLVED this issue and can explain to a beginner step by step how to get back his lost BCC... U'll be my heroes!!
Please don't fill this thread if u don't have a clear solution, and leave room for experts

Thank u all again!

Unless you own the BTC adress, your bitcoinCash is gone.

Quote

There is nothing which distinguishes a BCC address from a BTC address; they are both the same format and refer the the same keys, thus a BCC address is a BTC address and vice versa. This means that if someone sends BTC to an address that you created with a BCC wallet, the person who owns that BCC wallet would receive BTC. It won't appear in his BCC wallet, but if he has the same private keys on a BTC wallet, he would receive the coins there and be able to spend it.

So, try to switch chains on the adress of the bitcoin wallet, and it should be there.

2499  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Searching for extra news - latest news on: October 18, 2017, 06:13:35 PM
A good Twitter account that post latest news from exchanges?
Or something like that

There's a list of some good tweeters, right here, -> https://www.influencive.com/top-blockchain-cryptocurrency-experts-follow-2017/ / https://99bitcoins.com/20-bitcoin-experts-you-should-following-twitter/

Also, look at some of the more popular crypto tweeters, and see who they are following, and follow those. They usually give good advice / updates. See for example, https://twitter.com/needacoin/following

And there are dozens more, you just gotta find the good ones.

Hello guys!
2 years ago i made a bitcoin wallet, they said write down my Bitcoin Wallet Phrase, my .wallet and .dat file missed... I only have the Wallet Phrase, can i backup it somehow to spend my missing Bitcoins? Sad
I still know the ammount, its have 0.09 Bitcoins, but i can't get it back because my files missed ...  Lips sealed
What can i do with this Wallet Phrase? (12 words)

You are probably talking about your seed here, which probably had 12 words at the time you generated it. Open up your desktop wallet, which in my case is "Electrum" -> https://electrum.org/#home

Click on the " Restore existing wallet with seed ".

Fill in your seed, and your wallet should be there. Please let me know if this fixed it.
