2281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Safe way to store many bitcoins? on: November 23, 2017, 09:10:28 PM
Hello everyone, I wanted to leave this question: What is the safest way to save a large amount of bitcoins? I mean a large sum of money. Take the necessary measures to avoid hacks, what kind of wallet to use. Also use a notebook dedicated only to that, what steps must be followed.

With the issue of transfers, do I have to give the same shipping address or to receive? xq if one has a large amount of money and all that is tracked, how do I take care of that?
I read but I understood very little about the wallets or hd addresses, can it be?

I hope someone can help me in this doubt. thank you very much.

Generate an offline / paper wallet and sent the bitcoin to there.

Use either a Paper wallet:

.....

That program was not intended to be used online. The concept was that a user would download the javascript, then turn his internet off, then run the script.

Exactly, that was why i stated that you should turn your internet off before using/generating a wallet. I'd never generate one there while online if you're going to use it for offline storage.
2282  Other / Meta / Re: suspended accounts on: November 23, 2017, 07:23:43 PM

I'm pretty sure that's the reason he got banned, and i don't think the moderators/admins are going to unban him.

He is shilling his (own) ICO site over and over again.

Literally contributes 0 to the forum/community, and posts the same thing with a little different wording. If you want to advertise something, just add it in your personal message or signature. Come on.
2283  Other / Meta / Re: suspended accounts on: November 23, 2017, 05:22:14 PM
Hello all,

My friend has had his account suspended and he has sent the email supplied by him but hasn't received a response. Does anyone know the process of getting an account unsuspended? My friend loves using this platform and hates the fact he can't take part anymore. (Hence why I have had to ask the question)

Thanks for your help in advance.

Suspended in the form of a ban or?

Do you mind linking his account? He probably copy pasted / made alot of spam posts, and if that's the case, the ban will probably be permanently.

bans that are made by mistake do occur, but rarely.

I thinks IP he use not white list, it same some member! Shocked

I believe that it would say somthing along the lines of ""IP has beedn banned blocked because of X evil"", not the "suspension" OP is talking about.

These wallets are generated using a random seed. They should be printed on an archive-quality paper and kept in a safe.

Or a brain wallet:

These wallets are created offline from a passphrase. The wallet can be constructed from the the same passphrase whenever the owner wants to make a transaction. Whoever guesses - or bruteforce attacks - the passphrase, has the wallet.

Although bitadress is open source, i would still advise you to disconnect yourself from the internet before generating an adress.

If you're looking for a more accessible wallet, you might want to buy a hardware wallet such as a trezor / Nano ledger S.
2285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What is Coin Burning on: November 23, 2017, 04:19:55 PM
Can someone explain what is coin burning and what is the purpose of it?

It means you sent bitcoin to a bitcoin adress that has no known private key. Which means they will be "burned" / go to waste.

I don't really see why people would use this in bitcoin, but  i know that some altcoin developers have done this to reduce the amount of coins in circulation

As to how to make a bitcoin vanity burner adress, use the answer on this question, https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/1851/how-to-generate-a-valid-bitcoin-address-for-destroying-bitcoins

Might be a bit outdated but it should still work.

My friend's account has been banned by a forum moderator.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1148817

he is very active in BTT,  especially in our native language section~~~but never spam....

Here is the message he received today when login the forum:

Quote
Sorry moonswamp, you are banned from posting or sending personal messages on this forum.
You have been banned by a forum moderator. You may appeal here: banappeals-w6pquw43@theymos.e4ward.com .

what he did yesterday is:    just replied some ICO ANN threads in the Altcoins,    and he think maybe it because he quoted a ANN topic to show the images~~~

some one please tell me what happened with his account ? why been banned and what can he do to unlock the account~

waiting for your reply !
Best Regards!

700 posts in ~90 days. The reason he got banned is probably because of his continous effort to make low quality, and spammy posts.

Things such as

the concept of this project is so far so good. the dividend idea is the nice one of this. it will rock.

Sounds like an interesting idea. I can already see many real world uses for it.

any update Huh

Don't really add any value to the forum/discussion, and my guess is moderators nowadays ban people for continously making these kinds of posts.
2287  Other / Meta / Re: Help!! Hacked account! Your thoughts on this. on: November 22, 2017, 08:40:28 PM
help me! login daha67 hacked account, wallet cryptonator.com there is no signature on the message, can I use the evidence to provide the translation for that address 1PmQKhEvratCxyVXTYBT6BwXYDVKK4qTip . Or what other option is there to prove that I?

There really isn't.

I guess you could indeed try to explain to Cyrus/Theymos that you have the "translation" ( you mean your login??  Huh) for that wallet, but i sincerely doubt that they will even look into it, let alone help you.

Simply too much of a hassle for them, and they might not know enough about said wallet to 100% conclude that you are actually the righful owner of the adress and thus the account.
2288  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what Signature-Ad Campaigns? on: November 22, 2017, 08:28:38 PM
How does this signature ad campaignes work?

You apply and wait for them to replay if you are accepted or you are the one who is waiting the request?

Tnx.

--Your question is formulated pretty poor, but i'll try to answer it to my best of my possibilities. Please, in the future, revise your sentences one or two times :/.--

It depends on the campaign you are in. Some campaigns had an automated system, eg http://bitmixer.io, you would be immediately accepted, and regularly checked on your post quality, however i don't think that there's currently a campaign that does this.

Currently most signature campaigns indeed require you to apply, and if your post quality is good enough, you will be accepted.
There's usually a bunch of restricted sections/rules but then again, this is all dependent on the campaign itself.
2289  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Etheris Wallet - The first API on: November 22, 2017, 08:07:10 PM

Is your sitecode opensource?

I have a hard time putting trust in new wallets that don't offer such things.

Also, how are you ever going to compete with Myetherwallet / Metamask / Mist? Most of what you offer is already implemented in most wallets.

Ontop of that, your site has NO SSL / HTTPS? http://etheris.io/

EDIT:

You need to manually enable HTTPS. Come on. Please redirect users automatically.
2290  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: i need help on: November 22, 2017, 06:09:19 PM
soo nobody cant help me in this ?who know very well LAuda AND TALK WITH HIM REMOVED MY NEGATIVE?

Nope.

You will need to convince Lauda to remove the rating she/he gave you.

OR, ask people from DT1/DT2 to remove Lauda from default trust, -- and to be honest with you, both options are pretty unlikely to happen.
2291  Other / Meta / Re: My bitcointalks account was hacked on: November 22, 2017, 06:00:39 PM
I have same problem with you dude Sad
Is still possible to getting back?
Please help

What's your original account? Please read back a couple replies, and find out if you've ever posted an adress that has been quoted by another user, ( for example while joining a  signature campaign ).

You will need to sign a message from said adress and sent that to either Theymos/ Cyrus.

As others stated, it is not garantueed that you'll get it back, but i will assume you, it is definitely worth trying.
2292  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Matbea.net first free service that determines the ownership of bitcoin addresses on: November 22, 2017, 03:54:47 PM
Matbea.net (https://matbea.net) - is the first free unique service that allows you to determine the belonging of bitcoin-addresses. Currently, we know the owners of more than 87 000 000 bitcoins-addresses, among them large companies, trading platforms and bitcoin-exchanges. Among them are Coinbase.com (more than 5 325 000 addresses), Xapo.com (more than 1 075 000 addresses), Poloniex.com (more than 715 000 addresses), Localbitcoins.com (over 1 075 000 addresses) and many others. The service is translated into several foreign languages and has an intuitive interface.

This is a service that i've been looking for for a while. http://walletexplorer.com fails to recognize any webwallet such as coinbase.

Are you listing 100% of coinbase adresses, or is this only partially all of them?

2293  Other / Meta / Bitcointalk account spamming ref links in PM? on: November 22, 2017, 02:14:23 PM
What to do against them? Is it bannable? I've received the following PM:

https://pastebin.com/XvBhLBFg

From this user: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=731277

It seems as if multiple people have experienced this, according to his trust history -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=731277

This is almost as bad as copy pasting in my opinion, especially since i've not shown any interests in buying GunBot for a very long time.
2294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: guidance on buying first BCT on: November 21, 2017, 09:07:48 PM
The easiest way to buy Bitcoin, is going to a local ATM.
They usually do not require any identification and you guy buy some bitcoins hassle free in under 2 minutes.

It is depending where you live.

I checked one out for curiosity. Buy: 8.3%. That seems like a lot. Is that the norm?

It is the norm for ATM machines, yes.

For lower rates you will need to verify your identity using your passport, http://coinbase.com for example charges anywhere from 1.4% to 4%, depending on what you use to buy your bitcoins with.

see https://support.coinbase.com/customer/portal/articles/2109597-buy-sell-bank-transfer-fees for reference.

OR, find someone P2P who's willing to do the deal with you, but i wouldn't recommend that especially if you're extremely new to bitcoin. Chances of being scammed are much higher.
2295  Economy / Services / Re: Residential RDP or https residential proxies on: November 21, 2017, 08:14:22 PM
What is the country of IP ?

I believe they're only offering USA, and in particular New York. See https://www.usrdp.com/about.html

This is only their VPN service though, their rdp's might have a different location.

If you're using your normal computer, then yes, this is correct, since you're not going to earn anything with your PC.
2297  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Testing if my wallet works on: November 21, 2017, 07:25:55 PM
I thought that in blockchain you can send money around regardless which wallet do you use
but he just asks for your money, just send him $1  Roll Eyes

Maybe I should have offered compensation. PayPal for ETH. So yeah if anyone wants to do that, contact me please

Then i'd advise you to move your thread to the currency exchange section.

Also, i doubt that anyone is going to take paypal ( an extremely reversible currency) from a newbie for Ethereum, but good luck anyways.

It'd be much less of a hassle to just buy some bitcoin and transfer it into Ethereum...

I received 2 negative from 2 members without reason
I tried to contact them to recover my account on 0 but they do not want to delete the negative although in all my activity I proved that I have never tried to fool somebody or to fool and are here only to read this forum and if I can help whoever needs it
Thankyou

Look at the trust reference on your profile. -> https://archive.is/lXyq5#selection-3421.0-3421.29

You have bought this account, probably solely for the reason to spam the forum / enter signature campaigns.
should've known the risks of doing it beforehand, and never bought it in the first place.

Buying/Selling accounts is highly frowned upon, and alot of people will find you untrustworthy for that reason alone -- including me.

Also, your personal message is a refferal link to a HYIP/PONZI site. Are you trolling or what?

2299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: HELP SEND BITCOIN TO WALLET BITCOINCASH on: November 21, 2017, 06:01:39 PM
I need help, I use UPHOLD wallet and I wanted to buy an antminer s9 in the page of www.bitmain.com they told me a bitcoin cash wallet and when to pay and send the money to that bitcoin cash address, by mistake send bitcoin for 1450 dollars, and they could not confirm the payment. And now I do not know what to do?. where is my money. uphold gave me a blockchain confirmation address and the transfer appears but as (not spent) but neither bitmain.com nor uphold has given me a reply. I did this on Friday, November 17 and today, Monday, November 20, I have not received a response. What should I do? they can help me, they are 1450 dollars and I do not want to lose them.

So the problems is that you sent BTC (Bitcoin) to a BCH (Bitcoin Cash) address?

Well, on that case... you may be out of luck. I don't know exactly what happens when someone does that, but I guess that you sent the money into an address that doesn't exist in the BTC chain, and I don't really know the effect of doing that.

Im asking achow which probably know this: If you generate a BCH address, and send BTC on this address, since the generation and format of the address are the same... wouldn't this be a valid BTC address? so the result would be that he sent it to an address that nobody controls? Im not really sure, but I have heard endless stories of noobs lossing their money by sending BTC to BCH addresses and reverse, and im not sure if they were able to recover their money. This is another reason BCH is scammy, they didn't even bother creating their own address format.

Yes, the adress will be valid on both chains, unless you generated a bitcoin segwit adress,  and send bitcon cash to it, which is not the case here. (Bitcoin Cash doesn't use segwit =/= isn't compatible. )

If i understand correctly, OP sent 1450$ BTC to a Bitmain BTCCash adress.

If bitmain controls their own private keys ( which i assume they do ), they will have access to the bitcoin you sent them. Open a support ticket and see if they are willing to help you.

They're the only way to get your money back.

But how can Antpool have these bitcoins if they never generated that receiving address?

If you generate a receiving address in the Bitcoin Cash chain, this address, even if exact in format to the real Bitcoin chain, it's not sitting on the same chain isn't it?

Even if he could export this key into a real Bitcoin wallet, the transaction would have never happened on the real Bitcoin chain so the funds for it would be 0... correct me if im wrong.
You're indeed wrong, as how i understand it:

The adress + privat key formats are exactly the same, which means they will also refer to the same ( private ) keys.

Therefore, an adress generated on chain X ( bitcoin cash) with private keys X will have the same private keys as on Chain Y ( "OG" Bitcoin chain ).

It doesn't matter if they're on the same chain or not, the adress will still be valid.

My explanation is a bit sluggish. Not sure how to improve it..
