2361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Get Private key using passphrase and address? on: November 12, 2017, 08:40:52 PM
Can anyone help me with the commandline to get a Private key using a locked core wallet with a passphrase and the address?

I am trying to do this with dogecoin core but it gives me error, i have done it fine before but the wallets were not locked with a passphrase.

You simply add "walletpassphrase "your walletpassphrase here" 600 dumpprivkey [your Bitcoin address here]"

Then relock your wallet with "walletlock"

Assuming that you know how to get into the console, this shouldn't be too hard to accomplish.

2362  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Advice to a crypto newbie on: November 12, 2017, 06:33:53 PM
Hello all, as a crypto newbie , which crypto currency especially between bitcoin and ethereum would you advise me to start investing on, and please state your reason, thanks

None, do you research and then make your own decisions instead of relying on others. You're going to get shilled a bag of shitcoins and lose all your money.

Especially as a newbie you should do your own research about projects.
2363  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Random BTC deposit ...What does it mean??? on: November 12, 2017, 05:50:30 PM
can someone PLS explain wtf is goin on in the transaction below? I got an email saying someone sent me about $4 in BTC ...looking at the details, it seems they've sent to a lot of people and I'd just like to know what it means??

Bitcoin Transaction:
48f069889e139d18d124b69c7914493fee9f475f77241fd2884e438c96b3a7f9

on a side note: should I attempt to accelerate this transaction?

It's a double-spend transaction and it will most likely never confirm. It's simply faked to make it look like you received bitcoin, probably to try and scam you.

Could you give a bit more context about the email? What were they saying about the transaction? Did they ask you for any money?

@AdolfinWolf can u tell me
how use verifymsg on eth wallet is any guide here?
thanks

in thread described

If you want us to recover a hacked/lost account, you need to prove that you own it. Typically, the only acceptable method of proving ownership is by signing a message (including current date and desired new email address) using a Bitcoin address or PGP key associated with the account. A Bitcoin address or PGP key is associated with the account only if the account posted the key/address, sent it in a PM

, or if it is still listed in the account's profile.

and my question is if hacker delete the adress from account
even my adress is quoted in stake thread
how can have my acount back?

You can't, but the hacker can't delete quoted adresses, because it has been quoted by another person.

For signing an ethereum adress, this guide should do the trick, https://medium.com/hello-sugoi/ethereum-signing-and-validating-13a2d7cb0ee3

You're going to have a hard time if your only reason to join this forum was to make money.
Your best bet would be to sell a certain skill ( programming ) that you have in the service section, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0
Other then that, you could join an altcoin bounty campaign, but that's something i personally wouldn't do.
Or, you could claim bitcoins from faucets, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=212.0 , depending on how you value your time this could or couldn't be worth it for you.
You can't earn money here just because you want to. This is not just some sort of fastfood job that anyone can join as long as they can talk to people decently. To join signature campaigns here and earn good amounts of cryptocurrencies, you need to have read a lot of stuff beforehand, and actually be active here. As campaign managers definitely do NOT accept newbie accounts.
Hi. Why do you recommend me those things that you wouldn't do yoursef? I want to learn something new to myself and I don't expect that money will fall from the sky right after I joined the forum. But I think those faucets can be useful to me to try. Thank you!
Hello Tiana,
I don't know how to earn money through this forum. You could ask your friend how he does it exactly and then post his methods to this thread. I would be interested. Wink
I will ask him. Let me just some time to understand how everything works here at first  Wink
Hello Tiana
I think you can try to join in some bounty campaign if you can get a high rank, so try to get promoted to be member first.
Hi. Could you explain me, plese, what is bounty campaign? Thank you in advance.

A bounty campaign is something like posting / retweeting certain tweets from ICO's for example. They're usually listed here, -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0

Or, Altcoin campaigns, which give you a "bounty" for participating, see -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=161.0 there's several tagged with [BOUNTY]

You're linking all sorts of twitter / social media accounts, but i have no idea what support you actually want?

Did you simply got phished by filling in your private key on a fake etherdelta copy? Cause that's what it sounds like.

https://etherscan.io/address/0x19E757467cbfeD9d927b0ae244ec9103038eeF59

Holds nothing indeed. What site did you fill your private keys in on? Etherdelta only stores them locally..

but
excuse me if im wrong when u receive
an email saying ur email changed from ........
its obvius admins can verify the first email adresses
my problem is huge cause i join many airdrops with specific
email and eth address
i know rules cant be cjanged but if someone unlock my account i can get it back
the signup email is the one can be verified

also i think a member here can verify im the owner
i speak to him those days, hacked today so its impossible
hacker knows those info also that user send me money on my wallet

No, not really, a hacker could've also accessed/ hacked the email account and then claim that the account is their because they have the "original" email.

If you could verify a message from an eth adress that you entered an airdrop with that has been quoted by another member, i think that would do it.

hacker changed my email too
i receive 2 mails today one email changed
and one password changed
account hacked  id=887317
i can provide anythink also an ip look from admins can simple check it
i also lock my account click on email changed message i receive

Sorry, but that isn't going to do it, without a verified message from a Bitcoin related adress, or a staked PGP key, you're not going to get your account back.

Ip's could be changed with VPNS/ proxies, and email changed message could easily be faked in most email carriers. Even if you're legit, there's no way for admins to know that the account belongs to you a 100%.
2369  Other / Archival / Re: BCC sent to BTC Single Wallet on: November 11, 2017, 01:40:27 PM
Hello,

i just created a BTC Single wallet at bitaddress.org 10.11.2017 and transfered BCC to the wallet by accident.

i have both address and Private key. (BTC) the strange this is, i created the BTC single wallet 10.11.2017 but at block explorer i can see a transaction from 29.10.2017

AT BCC Explorer i can see the right amount of BCC.

is there any chance i can get the BCC out of the Single Wallet again?

my guess is, the money is lost because this BCC address is not existing and no one has the private to. If someone has the BCC private key to this addess.. grats

here you are: https://blockchair.com/search?q=1EYHU7JiHrQMNE1V7mgXCYcK5BMpciK5XM

https://bitcoincash.blockexplorer.com/address/1EYHU7JiHrQMNE1V7mgXCYcK5BMpciK5XM

thx in advance
If you have the private keys for the adress, simply switch chains and your BCC should be there.

Depending on which wallet you use, it shouldn't be too hard to do.

Google a bitcoin cash wallet and import your private keys into it, it should list your BCH there. ( If your transaction actually got confirmed to said adress and if you indeed have the private keys of the adress.)

This, https://electroncash.org/ is the electrum forked wallet for BCH, use at own risk.

Quote
There is nothing which distinguishes a BCC address from a BTC address; they are both the same format and refer the the same keys, thus a BCC address is a BTC address and vice versa. This means that if someone sends BTC to an address that you created with a BCC wallet, the person who owns that BCC wallet would receive BTC. It won't appear in his BCC wallet, but if he has the same private keys on a BTC wallet, he would receive the coins there and be able to spend it.

2371  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: I sent BCH (split) to BTC (segwit) on my Ledger Nano S, but i did not receive it on: November 11, 2017, 01:22:13 PM
Can someone please help me and tell me, if there is a solution to get my lost Bitcoin Cash back?
I wrote to Ledger, but they sent back a more or less useless reply:

Alexandre (Ledger)
Nov 10, 12:24 CET

Hello ,
If you sent your BCH on a Bitcoin Segwit address, there is nothing we can help you with, as Bitcoin Cash doesn't support Segwit, your BCH are lost so far.
If you sent your BCH on a Bitcoin Legacy address, please export your extended Bitcoin public address (xpub) and send it to us. To do it:
open the Bitcoin Segwit account that you send your BCH to.
click on "Account settings" on the top right corner, under your balance,
click on the "export" green button on the Extended Public Key line
click on "print" or "send by email"

Best regards,
Alexandre
Ledger Customer Support

First Alexandre wrote, my BCH are lost, but on the second line, he offers me a solution..Huh Don't understand that.
Second, there are no "Account settings" on the top right corner, and there are also no export buttons (i wrote that back to Ledger support, but they sent me the same answer again - "great" support by the way).
Third, a friend of mine told me, that my BCH are still there somewhere.. maybe it's possible to recover them with another wallet. I don't know, if this works.

Maybe, there is someone, who has the same problem or could help me solving that, if there's a workaround for my issue.
Thanks a lot for your help and feedback!

There's a difference between Segwit & legacy adresses.

He is stating that in the case it WASN'T a Segwit adress, but rather a legacy adress you would be able to get it back, but this, if the information you gave us is correct, is not the case.

If your adress is starting with a 3, or bc1, and you're sure it isn't a multi-signature wallet, https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Multisignature, it is a Segwit adress, which means your bitcoin cash is LOST, since they don't support segwit.

--
If you sent it to a bitcoin legacy adress, go to https://www.ledgerwallet.com/api/demo.html and try that and see if it works, Haven't tried it myself but some people reported that it worked for them, https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/3k9meh/how_to_get_xpub_from_ledger_wallet/

Seems pretty outdated though..

( since you can't get your Xpub from your ledger itself for some reason?)

This is the wrong section to post stuff like this in, move it to https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=24.0

You need to follow this thread, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0

Simply sign a message from a staked adress that is currently on your account / somewhere in your post history, and mail/pm it to Cyrus to get your account locked, or theymos to get it recovered, see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=35

Wow, thanks for being so responsive guys! Much appreciated!  Smiley I will pay the fee, but I hope the response to 'activate' my membership is timely.

There is one thing I'm unclear about:

'Pay to the Bitcoin address 1B2JeoMijGdkdYNToWv2yT7A55RuZ9jCbn. Once your transaction has 1 confirmation, revisit this page and then use the form which will appear in order to wear your new membership. Your transaction will not be registered until it has 1 confirmation. Bitcoin network fees and exchange/wallet withdrawal fees will not count toward your payment.'

I am to revisit that page and a form will magically appear? How would anyone know I paid and it was me?

Because the bitcoin adress you need to pay to is unique for everyone.

Mine for example is 1EajBxg3Y8cbBn543Q4siafMpHEwd1Wsti, which is way different then yours.

The adress is connected to your account, so once they received the payment, you'll automatically get your rank. ( I believe)
2374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: password correct, but not working on: November 11, 2017, 10:59:10 AM
Suddenly, I cannot unlock my Bitcoin Core encrypted wallet. I was sending and receiving transactions only a few days ago. I am certain that I am using the correct password because I had backups of the password, and it is correct. My bitcoin remain in the wallet, but I cannot move them. I moved the wallet.dat file to another computer, but I get the same error on using the password. Is it possible that the recent upgrade to v0.15.0.1 affected the password?

It could indeed be that that is the issue, but it really shouldn't be. Have you tried degrading to 0.15 / 0.14.2?

If not, you should try and see if that resolves your issue, but if this would be the case i'd guess that there would already be several people reporting this issue on github, which isn't the case right now.

It's more likely an issue on your side, rather the bitcoin-core client.
2375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help with physical BTC please?! on: November 11, 2017, 10:34:13 AM
I have a Cryptolator 2014 physical bitcoin. I want to transfer the btc from it into a wallet so i can spend it. When I imported the key address into my wallet on blockchain it shows the value of .1 BTC. I peeled the hologram off the coin and it has the private key on the back but when i type in the private key to try and send that value to my wallet it says the private key doesn't match the coin's address. Am I doing something wrong or am I screwed here? Any help is appreciated.

Where exactly are you importing the private key? in which wallet? What exactly does your wallet say? When importing the private key it usually just gives you a set of adresses associated with it, not the ones that aren't associated with it. ( which seems to be your case?)

Try to use https://electrum.org/#home, and make sure all caps are correct. It should work.

I understand that images are not allowed for newbies, but could you make an exception for this thread (an ANN thread I made):

No, you either need to ask a higher member to post it, or buy the following package which has been specifically added for this purpose.

after a second thought, electrum seems like the shittiest wallet even for windows, buggy and crashes + it got 3.2 rating on google store, not sure how many people manage to work with it !...

I've never had any problems with it. It never crashed on me, i only use it for windows though.

Do you have a high end system or? I doubt something like Bitcoin-Core is going to run better then electrum, if you're not even able to run that properly..

Try maybe running an older version to see if that works better.

Something between Donator & Copper, which would grant you something like a custom title for donating / supporting to the forum?

Thank you everyone for supporting me and looking into this situation I've found myself in.

AdolfinWolf - You have accurately described the situation. That is exactly what happened. The link to the site is https://ico.polynetwork.org/signup/cbvv1992 ......obviously I think now this site to be a scam and no one should ever think about putting money into this thing. Now that I've tried to move my money away from the site, i started getting issues and then I posted on this site for support.

Anyway... it is clear now that he must contact support from that ICO and pray that you aren't victim of yet another exit scam of sorts.
Yep. I have contacted them multiple times and have not received feedback. I did go on all of their social media spots and expose them though.

Also OP, what wallet do you use to store your majority of Bitcoins?
I have kept my BTC on Coinbase....perhaps I should look at other options. I think I may be one of those people that jumped in feet first into the crypto space without doing all of my due diligence on everything. Feeling regretful at the moment.

The reason the transaction doesn't show up on all blockchain explorers is that the inputs are still unconfirmed.
Just tried to rebroadcast it on blockchain.info.

I appreciate the help! It was going to coinbase wallet.

I'm going to keep reaching out to the site and pray that they help me out. At this point, I'm not super hopeful for that. Thank you everyone.

How did you got affiliated with the polygon ICO?

both their site and ANN thread seem extremely dead, with barely any replies. I've searched for reviews of them, and noone of them were really that positive...

It's really hard to find ANYTHING from them. how come you invested 0.7BTC?
I think this is just another cashgrab, and that you're going to lose your bitcoin. Please keep us updated.
