1901  Other / Meta / Re: List of Bitcointalk Merit Source Users on: January 25, 2018, 05:30:50 PM
Please excuse me if this has already been posted. Could the community and/or those who know compile a list of users that are merit sources?

I'm interested in getting to know the system some more. Thanks!

theymos stated he didn't want to make the list public so that users don't get harassed for merits.

I'm confused. How does one know if he/she is a merit source? As far as i understand, everyone who currently has merit, is able to give out a part of his merit in the form of sMerit. I for example have 94sMerit, does this make me a "source"?

Or do sources have unlimited amounts of sMerit to give out, as opposed to 'only' my 94?
1902  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 25, 2018, 04:40:31 PM
You keep bringing up the "abuse".
How are they going to abuse you? By ignoring you? That is an abuse?

Using the power to unlimited merit your friends (or alt accounts) while other users are withheld from receiving merit points, while they may post equal or even more qualitative posts, I call abuse, yes. It is again, like the trust system, subjectively determined by a few chosen ones.

You're only limited to 50 merits max per account per month, so i doubt that it is going to happen much.

Ontop of that, every merit you give is transparent, and i believe that there soon will be some kind of log where you can see who gave who merit points.
1903  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 24, 2018, 11:17:58 PM
.
If they do have a source, then that's something that we'll need to detect. The merit transfers are public, so it shouldn't be that difficult. There are also various limits in place which would help to limit the damage from that.

Will something like a trust feedback for merit be added? It would be an enormous hassle to look through individual posts to see who gave who merit. ( Even with the sort of whitelist for sources)
Abuse would be much easier to see aswell.

You are a merit source.
My next question is: Who are all the sources of merit?

I've just been merited by a Full member, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=926641, i'm guessing anyone that currently has merits is some sort of source, which presumably is going to be able to give less merit the less his total merit score is?

Edit: see OP, members can give merit aswell.

Quote

You have received a total of 10 merit. This is what determines your forum rank. You typically cannot lose this merit. You have 1 sendable merit (sMerit) which you can send to other people. There is no point in hoarding sMerit; keeping it yourself does not benefit you, and we reserve the right to decay unused sMerit in the future.

So, normal members have 1 sMerit?
1905  Other / Meta / What is the function of the "Merit" score? on: January 24, 2018, 09:44:45 PM
I've noticed that i now all of a sudden have a "Merit" score of 500. What is this going to be for?

Does this have anything to do with the new proposals to combat spam?

EDIT: SEE https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0

Edit: I also discovered that there is now a "Patrol" link which you can choose to enable under Forum Profile Information.

1907  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Get money for signature advertisement, or do it for free? on: January 24, 2018, 07:54:45 PM
So all I need to do is take part in the ICO signature bounty campaign, agree to their terms and write posts?
Yes.
How much do they pay for a signed post ?
That depends on both the campaign, and your rank. The campaign i am currently in pays a flat rate per post, while others have a fixed amount of bitcoin for a number X amount of posts.

If someone knows about the ICO signature bounty campaign which is active now please share the link here
There's a thread Here which lists all campaigns paying in bitcoin.

You can also look Here for campaigns paying in specific tokens.
1908  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wallets? on: January 24, 2018, 04:28:01 PM
Hey there I am looking for a easy and safe wallet to use, to do my transferring buying selling of my BTC?

Any suggestions please? Grin

If you're looking for a safe and easy software wallet, i'd advise you to use something like Electrum, which offers both security ( only you have access over your private keys), and all the functionality the bitcoin protocol currently has to offer. ( Segwit, RBF, HD wallets etc.) Something a wallet like blockchain.info doesn't offer.
1909  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can I post giveaway threads? on: January 24, 2018, 03:24:11 PM
So I was wondering guys if am I able to post a giveaway here? It's actually not mine, I just want to share it. Especially those who want free coins  Grin I just want to know if I can post one here without it getting deleted. If I can, which part of the forum can I do so?

Not sure, but i think this board, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=71.0, is created especially for this purpose.

Do note that i'm not sure if you're able to do it if there's some kind of survey needed to participate, or if you're letting them use your ref links, as i don't think that's allowed.
1910  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: List of CommandLine parameters for CCminer on: January 23, 2018, 09:22:27 PM
Is there a List of CommandLine parameters for CCminer

Can a CommandLine parameters for CCminer be used to select which video card to run on?

Thanks

You mean something like this? https://github.com/cbuchner1/ccminer/blob/master/README.txt

Devices (or GPU's) seem to be listed with --devices?
Quote
Code:
-d, --devices         gives a comma separated list of CUDA device IDs
to operate on. Device IDs start counting from 0!
Alternatively give string names of your card like
gtx780ti or gt640#2 (matching 2nd gt640 in the PC).
https://github.com/cbuchner1/ccminer/blob/master/README.txt

I haven't tried it out myself, but i don't see why this wouldn't work.

Depending on what version you're using, there might be different/more commands. This one for example has some extra commands it seems.
1911  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to recover BTC sent to input address (sent from address)? on: January 23, 2018, 08:01:04 PM
All,

Wondering if this community can help.  Someone sent me BTC to my Coinbase account using the input address (send from address) instead of the receive address.  I've contacted Coinbase tech support with no success.  I even blasted them on Twitter, to deaf ears. Any advise is appreciated.
I don't get what the problem is.

If you've used an """input""" adress, ( as you call it.. ) -- so in other words an adress you have previously send a transaction with, ( how could you otherwise make an output from it, "send" anything from it) --, it should be a receiving adress at the same time, right? These stay valid no matter what.

https://support.coinbase.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2276500-why-did-my-wallet-address-change- < Not the problem you currently have, but it does state that every receiving adress will stay valid.

I don't think they have a system like poloniex, where they batch withdrawal transactions etcetera.

1912  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why the GPUs got sold out again in 2018? on: January 23, 2018, 04:43:59 PM
Hello, i understand why all GPU was grabbed off the shelves in ~mid of 2017, but why now? 1070 is almost 1000USD now..

I don't get it, the profits from GPU mining are getting lower and lower. In 2017 i've been able to make around 8USD/24h. Now all i can do max is around 3USD.
3USD per day is still 100% ROI yearly. ( if you ofcourse not count the $ you pay for electricity)

Considering that you'll probably be able to mine a couple of years, you will still get a great interest, even if the cards are currently wayy overpriced.

Nicehash currently shows that you can make ~4$ a day btw,

1913  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What are the main reasons of banned ? on: January 23, 2018, 04:20:05 PM
I'm a new member in this forum.I want to know more about account banned. How can i protect my account from banned ?

Mods rarely ban accounts, but if they do it is usually related either to copy pasting, or extremely bad/low quality posts. e.g only spewing oneliners with a level of english that doesn't make sense to anyone.

You can read more about the rules here, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0 ( as you should've already done.)
1914  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust (DT) Network - DT1/2 Members on: January 22, 2018, 08:18:55 PM
I'm conflicted and need a reality check. I believe I'm more reserved in my approach with feedback than say Lauda or The Pharmacist, and I don't really believe theymos had intended DT to act as a cleanup crew for sig spammers on the forum, but that seems to be where this is heading, and I can't say I'm entirely against it because mods and admins have shown they do not, or cannot, get involved on a large scale with the shitposting/sig spamming.

Even though I feel like this type of work should be handled by admins & mods (and I believe they are trying), the constant crap content and one/two-liners in a lot of the larger boards certainly effects the community, and one community-based way to fight back may be the DT system, especially if signature campaign managers are using it as a guide on who can join their campaigns. However, the potential for abusing this and/or the DT system turning into a sort of "good ol' boys club" would be my fear.

This is being sanctioned by upper-level DT members who have other things to do

I'll assume Blazed is included in the comment above but I'm curious which other members may be supporting this, or at least how many support the leaving of feedback based on just the quality of a users post(s)?

I've always seen the rating of accounts based on the quality of their posts as going against the general guidelines set by theymos for the DT system, so I've always had reservations about going down this path and usually try to find more than just the quality of the post as a reason to leave feedback. It would be easier if I didn't have to do this, but I've always made it a personal responsibility.

I'm interested in hearing other opinions & thoughts on this.
If you are not comfortable posting publicly for whatever reason, PM is fine with me.

I feel as if it will only be a matter of time before a number of campaigns will simply adapt to this and remove the "No red trust" rule, which will ultimately result in a lot of time being wasted and leaving the trust system even more broken/misused then it is right now.

Don't get me wrong though, I see and understand why this is happening, and wouldn't necessarily say that i am against it, however it just doesn't seem like a feasible solution in the long run to me.
1915  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Questions about Double Spending & many more. on: January 22, 2018, 05:58:42 PM
Depends on the wallet, different wallets have different processes to double spend (or don't allow you to). Double spending basically replaces a transaction that you have already made, by spending the same  input multiple times (hence the term 'double spending'). Only one can get confirmed, so the others stay unconfirmed forever.

Let me know the txid and the wallet you use, and I can help you double spend with a higher fee so that it's confirmed.
So basically sending transaction out with low fees and after that sending it with higher fees with the same amount? Double spending is used by Scammers right? So how double spending does the scam? Normally sent out BTC doesn't allow you to cancel the transaction right?
I used BlockChain wallet to send out.
The txiid is there https://blockchain.info/tx/72c4eadfe654f79307936ec0a2de74c87e5e92414120227d3ce8e15962556ee6

I doubt that double spending sees much use by scammers nowadays, as it will only work with people who don't have a basic understanding of the bitcoin network/blockchain -- To them it might look like the transaction is incoming, while it actually is never going to confirm.

It is much more often used by people performing RBF - Replace-By-Fee, -- rebroadcasting their transaction with a higher fee, as Darkstar already stated.
Quote
Normally sent out BTC doesn't allow you to cancel the transaction right?

No, but it doesn't prevent you from sending out these coins again with a higher fee to another adress, thus making them confirm faster while it looks like they're going to be received by another adress.
(Atleast that is the case with most wallets, eg electrum.)
1916  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can Anyone Recommend Good altcoin wallets? on: January 22, 2018, 05:35:47 PM
Hello Everyone,

I am new to trading and I don't like holding my money in the different platforms when it's not getting traded. Therefore I am wondering if anyone has recommendations for some wallets with low fees and quick times, as well as an easy to use interface. I'm using Jaxx, Ethereum, and imToken right now but I don't find them particularly intuitive.

Thanks for the help

What's wrong with something like jaxx?

I guess you could try to use either https://coinomi.com/, which supports over 270 coins, or https://www.exodus.io/, which supports a dozen coins aswell.

1918  Other / Meta / Re: Is it I desreves a negative trust? on: January 21, 2018, 07:46:47 PM
Just because you didn't do it does not mean you are innocent. You had the intent to bump ANN threads and that in and of itself directly shows justification for the negative trust.

But I never broke the rules that got paid for bumping the ANN threads,I didn't have intent to bump the ANN threads I am just trapped by the OP when I am not aware of the rules.
You can see my history I never posted on ANN threads so which means I never broke the rules of the forum.

I invite Mrs.Lauda to answer my thread. Smiley

Even if you didn't break the rules, you intended on doing so.

Which makes you in my, and in many other people's eyes untrustworthy.
The rating isn't given because you broke any forum rules, nor is it given by someone who is a forum administrator, it is simply given by someone who thinks you're untrustworthy.

https://i.imgur.com/metacnT.png, You not being aware of the forum rules is simply you being ignorant.

Now anyone who will Post in ANN, will be considered as a Red tag. lolzz

"Now anyone who willingly/is willing  breaks the forum rules by post bumping in ANN section in exchange for money will be rewarded with a red tag"

It's an 8$ loan....
Why do you guys troll so fucking hard on here

Why don't you start by stating what you need to loan for in the first place? to send 8$ back and forth you'll pay atleast 40% of that amount already in transaction fees, it seems useless to ask for an amount this small.

( Unless ofcourse you didn't plan on paying back in the first place  Roll Eyes)

1920  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is there any way i could centralize my bitcoin addresses to one address ? on: January 21, 2018, 05:08:01 PM
Why do you want to do this anyway? There is no advantage of having a single address.

What do you mean?

It is wayy cheaper to use 1 UTXO on 1 adress than to have 10 UTXO's on 10 different adresses.
Transactions will be significantly cheaper, especially if you're using low amounts (dust).

Why do most wallets recommend creating a new address for a new transaction?
Because it offers more privacy. This way a user can't see how much you own in total, but rather only a single piece of it.

For the fees it doesn't really matter anyway. If you have 2 UTXO'S on 1 adress, or 2 UTXO's  on 2 adresses, the fees will still be the same, see bob's reply.
