1721  Other / Meta / Re: accounts that have been hacked on: March 22, 2018, 03:44:48 PM
hay, my bitcointalk account has been hacked along with his email, how do I get my bitcointalk account back?
because my account is now being used by someone so I can not access it again.

What is your account?

You will need to sign a message from a staked adress on your account ( an adress that has been quoted by someone else in your post history), to prove that you actually own the account. There's no other way for admins to verify if the account is otherwise actually yours.

More instructions can be found Here, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0.
1722  Other / Meta / Bitcointalk slow or just me? on: March 20, 2018, 03:51:02 PM
Bitcointalk currently loads extremely slow for me. Anyone else encountering this?

Whenever i use a third party to check the response time, it's usually ~300ms.

That can't be normal right?

This topic for example, with only 39 replies took me 10-15 seconds to load..?

Any fix to this? It's quite annoying when you're just scrolling/reading through threads.
1723  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie help erro Activity post. on: March 17, 2018, 08:07:08 PM
Recent days I have track ... these posts are not Activity.  Undecided help help help
update. seems to update 'Activity post' very slowly. took over a day...help help help  Sad Sad Sad

It seems that you don't really understand how activity works.

You can only get 14 (potential) activity per period ( Period = 2 weeks), which is the reason why it isn't going up anymore.

You already accumulated the max amount of activity you can get for this period. (14), (14 + 14), which means you participated/posted in 2 periods basically..
1724  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bounty Payment on: March 17, 2018, 02:58:08 PM
Contact bounty managers and sort it out. They are ones that can help you

Ok thank you. Exist some bounty program that pay you immediately??

That's up to the manager of said bounty/signature campaign, and it should become clear before you join.

There's dozens of signature campaigns that pay on a week to week basis, however with bounties this rarely happens, since the project(tokens), aren't yet launched, which means they're (tokens) not really available yet.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2708684.0

This one for example pays every sunday. you get the idea.

1725  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Accidently send BTC to USDT address on: March 17, 2018, 12:58:49 PM
Me too
i sent usdt to btc wallet in binance exchange
and binance support said
"Your transaction has been confirmed in the block chain already. Which means that Binance has transferred coins in the block chain successfully.

If your still has issue on the transaction. It is suggested to negotiate to the owner of designation address or target wallet kindly. Sorry, Binance has no way to help you at this moment."
I lost all money Sad. Very sad,
I guess that's the boilerplate response they give everyone.
If the address you sent it to was given to you by Binance then they actually hold the private key to that address and can retrieve the coins IF they wish to.
Whether they choose to help you or not however is up to them.

No, it seems that in this case he sent USDT from binance to a BTC adress he chose. Binance can actually do nothing in that case.

Where did you send the USDT to balotelli?

Hi!

Unfortunately, There is no chance to get back a transaction!  Embarrassed
BTC Wallets no have any admins.
You obviously don't understand how exchanges work. Ofcourse they have access to the private keys of their clients.

1726  Other / Meta / Re: Developers, please add bookmarking ability for the post and threads on: March 16, 2018, 02:49:48 PM
Why don't you just use your browser's bookmark feature?
Chrome, Opera and Firefox in particular have the "cloud save" feature which synchronize all your bookmarks among all of your supported devices.

Or, Go to your Profile->"Notifications & Email" and disable Automatically watch topics after replying to them.
This way, you can manually add those useful threads to the "watchlist" shortcut above. (You have to "unwatch" the old topics you previously replied, though)

Cheesy Cheesy I know how the browser's bookmarks works. What i am proposing is more useful.
Watch list is needed. It's not a good idea to disable automatically watch topics as well.

What exactly do you mean by "watch list", there's already a "Watch" function implemented. What are you missing about that?

Also your function might be nice, but as others have mentioned, you can also just make a bookmark tab in which you categorize certain topics you bookmarked ( eg technical ones vs meta posts about rules).
1727  Other / Meta / Re: Is It Allowed? on: March 14, 2018, 04:15:52 PM
FOOLISH SCAMMERS, I am new to investing, and have joined several Telegram groups which is Crypto Related and Specifically for ICO projects, and of course there are administrators from the specific Group, and there are this f******g scammers wannabe admins, who have contacted me through PM, some of Them i Entertained and some of them I ignored, so my question is, is it okay to Make a Thread about Those scammers with their pictures? and with the conversation We have tackled?

Thank you for the answers admins and dev's (superiors)
My Intention is to help Members to be aware from scammers.

You mean that you want to doxx'em? If you have a valid reason to do so, ( you want to discover the scammer's name/warn other people, then it shouldn't be a problem, it isn't against the forum rules per se, but i guess that it could be frowned upon by some of the DT members.)

This is what theymos said about it,
1. Personal information must be confined to the new "investigations" board (under Scam Accusations), which is only visible to Members and above. Personal information is defined as anything which links a user's online identity (username, email, etc.) to their meatspace identity, excluding links that the person himself has posted. It is not allowed to post somebody's personal information in any other public place, including in signatures.
2. It is not allowed to post someone's dox if it is especially obvious that you're just using the dox as a weapon. For example, if there are no remotely-plausible trade complaints, then the person can't be a scammer, and their dox should not be posted.
3. As before, anything that the legacy insecure government/banking system requires to be secret is not allowed anywhere. This includes social security numbers, credit card numbers, and certain account numbers.
<...>
As theymos stated, it is only allowed in This board.

I'm trying to buy a script from the site, but it isn't letting me check out.

It's simply greyed out when i fill in all my details. Can i buy the script from you manually, or could you simply fix the site, please?

It's not responding.
1729  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Transaction batching on: March 10, 2018, 01:13:29 PM
Transactions

Transactions are defined using a Forth-like scripting language.Transactions consist of one or more inputs and one or more outputs. When a user sends bitcoins, the user designates each address and the amount of bitcoin being sent to that address in an output. To prevent double spending, each input must refer to a previous unspent output in the blockchain. The use of multiple inputs corresponds to the use of multiple coins in a cash transaction. Since transactions can have multiple outputs, users can send bitcoins to multiple recipients in one transaction. As in a cash transaction, the sum of inputs (coins used to pay) can exceed the intended sum of payments. In such a case, an additional output is used, returning the change back to the payer.Any input satoshis not accounted for in the transaction outputs become the transaction fee.

Why are you copy pasting from https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@omarf/bitcoin-for-dummies-part-4, and also what you are saying is almost completely irrelevant to the question asked here. I'd recommend you to remove your rubbish before someone reports you for copy-pasting.

What are you trying to accomplish here?
1730  Economy / Service Discussion / Simple question about coinpayments/Bitpay. on: March 10, 2018, 12:13:49 PM

If i were to use coinpayments for my business, would i be able to instantly liquidate the funds once they are confirmed by coinpayments to fiat, or do i then need to withdraw them to coinbase etc.
How does it exactly work? Anyone that has any experiences with this?
1731  Other / Meta / Re: What to do when you see someone copy pasting content ? on: March 10, 2018, 10:59:26 AM
Recently i am seeing many people copy pasting contents , is there any way to report to the mods?? Please take it positively.I am pretty new in this forum. Thank you.
Yes, simply click report to Moderator, with a link to the original article.

There's a huge chance that the post will be removed.
However if you're out to ban him i believe it would be better to make a topic here in Meta, or respond with your evidence in one of the already existing megathreads to report spammers/copy paster, as poster above mentioned.
1732  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies not allowed to participate in many threads on: March 10, 2018, 10:24:32 AM
Hi fellows,
While am new on bitcoin talk I am not new to bitcoin and the blockchain, yet when I try to make comments on certain post I see a redflag message of newbies not allowed to contribute, it isnt like newbies are dummies, and I want to believe everyone was once a newbie. I will like to know what can be done about that? Somebody please help a brother!

I don't think what you're saying actually exists, as i've never heard of it before. Your message might be removed if it's deemed to be spam, but i don't think you're automatically ruled out from posting beforehand?

I've never ever seen or heard from big bold red letters stating that you can't post here.

Could you link me some threads you're not able to post in?
1733  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: USDT to USD Wallet in error, lost funds PLEASE HELP on: March 09, 2018, 07:38:17 PM
-snip-

Unless someone is able to hack coinbase/steal their funds, it is really unlikely that you will recover your money.

As far as i'm aware Coinbase doesn't really do/have any cross chain recovery policies due to them not wanting to access their system that way, ( Since employees would have acces to clients private keys etc.), or it's just a simple way of making some more profits for them..
1734  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Adding TX fees After, During Purchase? on: March 09, 2018, 06:13:50 PM
Hi, I'm new here and also relatively new to alt-coins. I have a Coinpayment.net wallet and the last purchase I made timed out because there were no TX fees. I looked everywhere on how to add TX fees and there was no info even though Coinpayments checkout says "We recommend including a TX fee of at least 0.00014355 BTC for quick payment confirmation." I'm trying to make the same purchase again and am facing the same issue. I thought maybe I missed something during the process which I could correct this time.

I contacted CP and someone replied saying "You can only set a TX fee in certain wallets, if you don't see an option the one you are using most likely doesn't allow custom TX fees."

I'm totally confused. If I made a purchase using btc, then why is there no way for me to add a TX fee? It's just a waste of time. If anyone has any solution or recommendations, I could really use the help. I know I should use my own wallet but I haven't gotten there yet.

Thanks for any help.

If i'm reading this correctly; you're using a webwallet right? I'm not quite sure which one you are using, but it is completely dependant on the site to give you acces as to whether or not you can set your own fees.

If you can't set your own fees, i'd really recommend you to transfer all of your funds out into a wallet such as Electrum, where you control the keys, and no longer dependant on a 3rd party.

So basically sent all the funds to your own wallet without the fees, which might take a while, and then make the purchase with high fees using your new wallet. ( Electrum, Bitcoin Core).
1735  Other / Meta / Re: Please stop sellers of BTT hacked logs on: March 09, 2018, 03:14:36 PM
Good afternoon.

During few days base of hacked accounts of bitcointalk.com is offered for sale in the Russian local thread. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2961429.0)

I have been surprised that this thread has not removed yet. In this case it is one of two:
1. Sale of compromised accounts or
2. Scam.

Both of variants is not good.

Most likely the database refers to all known compromentation case few years ago. I think that another wave of attempts to acquire sleeping accounts will begin, because of the increased demand for the forum's accounts.

Perhaps we need to implement some additional checks for accounts that woke up suddenly.

Thank you

Do not worry, if default trust member sees this I am sure they will be tagged red for doing so and it is very likely that they will see this thread because they have their eyes set on meta. There is no need for additional checks for accounts that woke up suddenly if they cannot use it efficiently. I have looked on the thread and it seems to me that the user himself is just trying to scam people.

When the user is trying to scam people, is it not better to ban such a user? If nothing is done, some newcomer might end up getting scammed.

Not really.

It might seem practical to you to do so, but this brings a question the forum can't answer without being biased; what should be bannable, and what not.

Everything that's illegal, or everything that smells just a little bit like a scam? How/and why should the forum determine for it's users what a scam is and what isn't.

Example i used a couple of weeks ago; Chipmixer. One could argue that this is a great tool to enhance you privacy, but one could also argue that this service is used to launder money. What should the forum do in this case?

1736  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Red trust. What to do? on: March 08, 2018, 08:34:18 PM
lols, red mark is sometime not a serious matter, it doesn't mean that all red marks are scammer and likely criminal, sometime it serves as warning to people specially when they are reported repeatedly, or spotted out of the blue, you know, I saw your mark, in connection to merit issue.

Just apology to the marker not to repeat the same mistake again, they are particularly strict with the rules today and since there are a lot of bees making noise on the forum, some people are being pinpointed by their wrong doing.

Apology sincerely and if they don't forgive and remove it, just make curse, joke. Just apologize.

I'd really not be comfortable if there was such a system, and no, i really don't think that's what red trust is most used for. It literally states the following: "You were scammed or you strongly believe that this person is a scammer."

If this would be given simply on suspicion/as a warning i think it would be extremely skeptical to abuse.

You can't do anything sadly. If whoever left you the negative trust is not responding then you will have to live with it.
You might not be able to remove it, but if you feel like the trust rating you were given is false ( which does seem unlikely in this case), you could ask DT1/DT2 to counter your negative trust. ( which does seem unlikely in this case)
1737  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What Are The Dangers Of Multiple Coin Wallets? on: March 08, 2018, 01:12:15 PM
The most reputable ones are probably: Exodus, Jaxx, Coinomi, Eidoo, Enjin (some of them had security issues in the past). The downside of these wallets is that they are not open source so you will have to take the developers word when they say "We're not sending the private keys to our servers". I wouldn't suggest using these wallets unless you are using them for holding small amounts. I recommend buying a hardware wallet, both Trezor and Ledger support BTC, Ethereum and all ERC20 tokens, in addition to some alts.

In order words, would it be safe to say that no wallet is 100% safe, apart from the hardware wallet? Since the hardware wallets are equally multiple coin wallets, what are their downsides?

Hardware wallet are also not 100% safe. your house could burn down and you'll lose your funds aswell.

Some downsides of a trezor/ledger are:

You cannot store any coin on them, they only support a specific amount of coins.
They could be expensive, not everyone can afford to spend another 100 bucks on basically a USB.
For them to work you'll always need to physically carry them with you. (Unless you import the seed of the ledger wallet, but then what's the point of the ledger in the first place?)
1738  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: My private key is not accepted by any other wallet. on: March 07, 2018, 05:35:57 PM
Actually SegWit address (Bech32) have different format with legacy address, i've tried import SegWit Bech32 private key to wallet which don't support SegWit and obviously the private key isn't accepted.
I don't think so.

Segwit is simply a different payment script + adress format, it does not generate a different key. A private key can both generate a traditional adress (P2PKH), or a segwit one, (P2SH).

This answer is a bit more indepth about it, https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/a/70123
1739  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is cryptomining-shop.com another scam? on: March 06, 2018, 09:30:59 PM
cryptominingshop.co.uk is a scam. Paid for 2x s9 antminers in January which were meant to be delivered February but now the website is down and this guy who goes by the name Kishan Modha isn't respond
ing. I would appreciate any information anyone can give me on this guy ie the name he used with you and or appearance, basically anything.

Have read the read the above post or not dude. Everyone mentioned the same as you said, so do you think still we people need your same answer again? This is how spam thread has been building up.
I advice you do not make any post of dead thread. This is not healthy for the forum and for your post history too.
No need your appreciation keep quite and spam on off topics, not here.

Ironic and a tad bit hypocritical. Why don't you just report the post if you think it is spam? You just did exactly the same thing as you accused him of.

(exclude this post from sig post count.)
1740  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: My private key is not accepted by any other wallet. on: March 06, 2018, 08:26:10 PM
I think its problem is import a private key of a segwit address (P2SH-P2WPKH) into a non-segwit wallet.
What is your "another wallet"?
did you try electrum wallet? "sweep pvt key"

Private keys of segwit adresses and nonsegwit adresses are exactly the same format ( and the same), so no, that's probably not the issue. The private key he has is either not a private key, or somehow encrypted.

To OP:

What wallet are you trying to import it in? Electrum? How many chars is the key you have?
