2261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What does "unspent" mean in the Blockchain? on: November 25, 2017, 06:19:57 PM
Thanks for your answer. I dont understand what you mean by "has not used those coins yet". They didnt show up in the receviving address. How will i be able to spend them if they dont show up?

You simply won't. However the coins in your adress 3CzArgbxZYDwFhvMSgFhTNNkeTTno6jZtv have succesfully confirmed, and you should be able to SPENT them, which is why it says that they're unspent.
2262  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 50 % Fee ?? on: November 25, 2017, 04:08:49 PM
Hey guys!

I was curious about something.. im going through my learning procces and yesterday i bought 40 euros of btc.. after i did that i deposited some on an exchange it was approximately 20 euros .. sickest shit happend the 20 euros was deposited.. but there where 2 other wallets where money was sent and one of those amounts was 16 euros ?!? thats alot of fee.. after this happend i checked on the web and i did some reading about the fees.. but the fact that the fee is almost the half of my (test) investment is off the charts .. anyone has a logic answer for me to prevent this in the future ??

much love, the newbie  Cheesy

Either the exchange you bought them from has a flat fee of ~0.001 BTCBTC ( or something similar), I know bittrex et al have this implemented, Or the wallet / service you were using miscalculated the amount of fees you needed.

Use software wallets in the future so you can set your own fees, and use accelerators together with low fees. However there's not that much you can do when sending it back and forth to an exchange. They will still calculate/set the fees for you, how bad it may be.
2263  Other / Meta / Re: Requesting more staff with more responsibilities on: November 25, 2017, 01:04:12 PM
So I've been trying to contact cyrus for a month now to recover my account. It's already been verified by another staff member in public (the signed address)

but I'm still waiting to hear off Cyrus I understand that hes busy and has a lot of requests and it will probably take a few months more to get a reply. it's not cyrus fault as I understand he has other responsibilities and hes getting several messages an hour about accounts going missing or have been hacked/banned etc.

So my request to theymos is to promote more staff members which are able to recover accounts or assign certain members like hilariousandco to recovering accounts for a period of time to clear the backlog that has been created.

Probably not going to happen. It would be extremely hard to find people that are A. willing to do the job and B. as trustworthy as current staff members.

Although i would agree to give current moderators such as hilariousandco access to restoring accounts, but then again, i'm not sure if he/other moderators would be really interested in doing that, considering the amount of bullshit they're already getting / trying to process on this forum...
2264  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambling to win BTC on: November 25, 2017, 12:25:16 PM
What does it matter what the domain is if they pay out?

Because why would i trust a site with any of my money if they can't even take care of their own crap? Why don't you invest just 5$ into a real domain instead of a freebie?

How am i supposed if they will pay out? Appearance of a site is everything.

Also your site has no https, a layout from 1990, and an idea that's from the medieval ages. Seriously, do you expect anyone to gamble there?

Also, if it's going to work, how are you going to pay fees for all the outputs you will be getting from people who bet really small amounts?

Simply put, you won't. It's going to be impossible.
2265  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambling to win BTC on: November 25, 2017, 12:08:35 PM
I highly recommend trying www.sunvsmoon.ml
It's a betting site that actually pays out. You bet either sun or moon and the site resets and pays out every 2 hours. There's some btc in both sun and moon at the beginning of every round, so you can be the only one who bets and still get money.

If you bet 50% of the total winning sum, you get 50% of the money accumulated from the loosing group. (minus a 1% fee)
I recommend betting big at the end of the round so you get an edge or getting a bunch of friends together so they can all bet so you don't have to risk loads of money and still win.

Oh yeah, i highly recommend betting on a site that can't afford a normal tier 1 domain name!!! Go deposit all your shekels on this site i found guys!!!! ./s.....
2266  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Time locked address on: November 25, 2017, 12:03:30 PM
Yeah well how do i create it.. i knew that.

Simply put your public key into the generator ( you should run this offline by the way ).

Your public key will look like this

Code:
0450863AD64A87AE8A2FE83C1AF1A8403CB53F53E486D8511DAD8A04887E5B23522CD470243453A299FA9E77237716103ABC11A1DF38855ED6F2EE187E9C582BA6

Then set a time or block, and generate it.

2267  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Help on Bitrex Account on: November 25, 2017, 10:54:00 AM
Ticket is almost three weeks. Account verification is ok (Verified). But account is disabled.
What country are you from if i may ask?

I believe bittrex locks/bans account from specific accouts in the middle east & Ukraine, due to money laundering / what not.

2268  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: November 24, 2017, 10:03:13 PM
I'm here almost online everyday and my activity does't go up..how the heck is this working?

People with half of my posts have higher rank...like watta FF man.. Embarrassed Embarrassed

Hm.. see on the first page:

The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every hour.

Not sure, if I understood it correct tbh..

Yeah saw that but doesn't understand much of it... All i know and see some go faster up in ranks than others while the one going faster up not being online more often that the slower guy...

Feels like a bogus rank system.. Sad

It's basic maths. How could it possible be a bogus system?

Let's say the amount of periods you've been registered is 1, which is equivalent to two weeks, this means you will have 1 * 14, 14 posts to make if you want to get your maximum activity. Which is essentialy equivalent to 1 activity a day.

Would you mind linking me some profiles that have gone up faster in activity then others? Being/ having alot of time  online / spend on this forum has nothing to do with it. It is all about your posts in relation to when you registered..
2269  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: RPC console questions? on: November 24, 2017, 09:30:52 PM
OK, so Im a complete NOOB but want to use the console.

However, Im worried about the affects of using the console, pertaining to security.

Example: If I want to dump my private key from the QT wallet to write it down as a hard copy. If I proceed with the command who else can view my Private Key while exposed in the console, does it leaving me unsecured? Is the private key out in the open for all to view once I initiate the command? Or can I only see it in the console, then clear the console once its written down and all is secure once again? Can someone please clarify some of my concerns?

thank you for your time, it is much appreciated

Nate

Only if your computer has been ratted, otherwise you should be just fine.

It's not like your private key will be shared with everyone on the bitcoin network / all the nodes, no. only you will be able to see it ( and anyone that is looking at your screen ofcourse).

If you really want to be sure, you could just turn off your internet connection, then dump the keys, and write them down.

Unless someone has a screenrecorder installed that records and sends everything you do  on your computer to a certain server controlled by a hacker ofcourse,  Roll Eyes
2270  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: do altcoin bounties usaully pay off on: November 24, 2017, 09:18:12 PM
Not specifically a bounty.  But DeepOnion has two airdrops you can participate in.  I receive around 150 onions each week for deep points (we get this for community participation) and you get about 7% of the onions held in your wallet.  Lastly, you get 10% per year for staking until June, at which point it will switch to 5%.  Good luck to you.

Why are you still shilling this scam coin? Have you even looked into it?

If there is one signature campaign/bounty i wouldn't recommend for newbies to join/use it's gotta be DeepOnion. Their coin is based on nothing but stakes that keep their own signature campaign/ bounty going.

Not only is their plan/coin phishy, they tend to delete any questions revolving around it on their ICO. Not transparent at all.

Anyone that is currently holding DeepOnion must be either retarded, or part of the greater scheme of it.

And the one who started the DeepOnion ANN was trying to buy positive trust.. Come on.

How to upload image url

You, as a newbie, will not be able to embed images unless you buy the copper rank.
This has been done to prevent abuse.

See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2385104 for more information as to how to buy it, and what you will get from it.
2272  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: transferring bitcoin from mycelium to electrum on: November 24, 2017, 07:41:54 PM
If I wanted to transfer some bitcoin from mycelium to electrum, I see discussions about importing and sweeping. I have tried to read the differences and even went though this:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2302219.msg23381548

However, one question that comes to mind and was also asked in the forum above, why can't you just send the coins from one wallet to the other wallet. Like why can't I just go into the mycelium wallet and send to the address of the electrum wallet? When looking it up at various resources you just see information about importing or sweeping.  What about a third option, just send it from one wallet to the other like you were sending coin to someone?

Yes, you could do that, there's absolutely no issue other then that you might be paying unnecessary transaction fees, or adding certain delays into accesing your coins ( you need to wait X amount of time until your transaction confirms).

Hence why people rather import their private keys into their new wallet.
2273  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can't find my Bitcoins purchased in 2011 - please help on: November 24, 2017, 07:25:53 PM
Hi all,

I just found this file on an old hard drive :-

bitcoin-0.4.0-win32-setup

I don't have a PC - do you think it may help ?

David.

If it's called a setup it is probably just the .exe of the bitcoin core install process at the time.

I don't think any specific wallet code is written down there / stored such as for example the wallet.dat...

Is there anything else other then the setup of the wallet on it?
2274  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Recommended websites, feed, and information on: November 24, 2017, 06:33:42 PM
My personal sources for bitcoin/cryptocurrency news:

You can view new and current ICOs at the Announcements (Altcoins) forum here in bitcointalk. ICOs usually have the [ICO] tag.

Article: WTF is an ICO?

I'd like to add some more links to that,

http://coinmarketcal.com/  - lists all upcoming events, and is community driven -- ( say an event gets cancelled/isn't going to happen, by enough votes it will actually be removed and vice versa.)

I also follow a wide variety of crypto-related users on twitter, who tend to tweet about big happenings/events. Might be something you want to do aswell.

http://airdropalert.com/ - not sure if it lists 100% of all the airdrops, but a quick look could give you some free coins. (Be wary when downloading wallets for said airdrop!)
2275  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to get an BTC address with all my coin (and can sign a message) on: November 24, 2017, 05:42:43 PM
Thank you so much!! I've got it!!

But that's a bit painfull... With that private key, I have like 10 addresses with coins inside. I though I had only one wallet... Is is possible to merge everything in only one address?

Not sure why you would want to do that, ( Paper wallet?)

But you will simply need to make a transaction of your full balance to that adress, and it should sent every output to it.

Do note that, because of all the ouputs, you might need to spend alot of bitcoin on fees, and that this isn't really unusual.

I believe what you want to achieve is called a consolidation transaction, for more information you could simply google it.

2276  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: how can i tell on: November 24, 2017, 05:11:25 PM
wow. amazing help. thanks. does electrum support alt coins?

The "normal" electrum client? No. You will need to use something like jaxx.io and coinomi, which i personally wouldn't really recommend due to the issues some of these wallets apparently had in the past.

You can however download a forked version of electrum for coins such as bitcoincash, see https://electroncash.org/ as an example.

Be wary that these might often be scams/software with hidden viruses. Always check the PGP + see if it is opensource/recommend by the developers/other people.

Hello,

I would just like to ask the reason why my (first) thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2367330.0) has been locked...
It will help me is to avoid to happen again.

Many thanks!

Probably because most, if not all the replies you received on your thread were extremely low effort / spammy / not contributing to any discussion at all.

A couple examples

can you please tell me more about this "bounty stuff". as in how to get in and get paid and very important, how to find them ?

2278  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to get an BTC address with all my coin (and can sign a message) on: November 24, 2017, 04:03:12 PM
Thanks for your answer, I moved the topic. That's the thing, on blockchain.info I don't find my main address (I'm receiving funds to different addresses).

I have exactly this view with my BTC amount on the "My Bitcoin wallet [default]" line

source: https://support.blockchain.com/hc/en-us/articles/207746403-Addresses

You can't sign a message from a non-imported adresson blockchain.info, only verify it.

See https://support.blockchain.com/hc/en-us/articles/210353833-What-is-message-signing-and-how-can-I-do-that-

Unless ofcourse you take the private keys out of blockchain.info, into another wallet, which is a bit of a hassle.
2279  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Never received bitcoin in wallet - who can help me on my birthday? on: November 23, 2017, 09:43:18 PM
That sounds potentially very disappointing.  I'm using 'bitcoin wallet'

"Bitcoin wallet" is nothing. Please specify the URL if it's a webwallet, or the .exe name if it's a software wallet.

The only reason i can see is that you used an exchange to store your coins, which means they transferred them out instantly after you deposited them.

Sites like poloniex.com and bittrex.com tend to do that.
2280  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Never received bitcoin in wallet - who can help me on my birthday? on: November 23, 2017, 09:28:33 PM
Hey guys, I'm very new to bitcoin, so please try to be kind Shocked. I successfully purchased and spent last month, but had scary trouble over the past 24 hours.  Yesterday, I purchased about $500 USD. The transaction was confirmed but the funds never showed in wallet.  In blockchain, i see the successful transfer, but then I see a 2nd transaction that appears like the entire amount was sent FROM my address.  Hopefully I'm just misinterpreting.  Could someone please please please take a look and tell me what you think happened and maybe even explain what I'm looking at? Thanks in advance! If I'm helped, maybe ill even send a nice reward Smiley

Your bitcoins have been withdrawed from the adress you specified. this is the TXID,  see, https://blockchain.info/tx/67eaf7613efda0d6f92fa4d953f68e840f4980f7c1c9cf8e5b9588652e73b86a

They're already moved out of 34eeUXYTb8pkjF9TctoejrCJktRx3zDbHp, it looks like you're using some kind of mixer/exchange?

Could you specify what wallet you are using?
