1701  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: From new registration to activity of 14 in half a day. on: March 27, 2018, 03:52:26 PM
I think this illustrates the need for the activity and merit controls, and how they are helpful to new members with an interest in Bitcoin. Without those controls, I could be a legendary by the week end.

You don't seem to understand how the activity system works. You can get 14 potential activity for each period. ( 1  period is roughly 2 weeks), which correlates to about 1 activity per day.

It'll take somewhere between 2 and 3 years to become legendary activity-wise ( and ofcourse you'll still need 1k merit, which is going to take a lifetime at the current rate   Roll Eyes )

There is a shortage of people with a reasonable understanding of its potential.

Ironic  Roll Eyes
1702  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk slow or just me? on: March 27, 2018, 01:43:13 PM
Bumping this since it is extremely slow again.

Didn't really have much problems past week but for some reason the slow loading  has returned for me again. I haven't seen any cloudflare redirecting screens, so protection might be lowered again, hence why the lagg might have returned for me?

Anyone else from EU having these problems?
1703  Other / Meta / Re: There is no notice about our post & reply on: March 27, 2018, 12:38:57 PM
Sorry, I'm beginner here. I want to ask something about a system in this forum. Why there is no feed or notice that can help us to check someone who replies & quote our post? I think it will very helpful.

I think it'll get too messy if there are notifications for every post of yours being quoted by someone. Although I feel it would be nice to have a notification system for mentions in any thread. For example if I write someone's username followed by @ in my post, they should get a notification for that, just like Twitter.

I think this is a quite important factor, there's 100s of megathreads where if you reply once, you'll keep receiving 100s of replies and notifications.

I believe i've asked/looked for this feature before ( being noticed when you are being quoted by someone), and if i recall correctly this was something that was going to be added in the new forum software, hence why we don't have it as of right now, ( why double develop something ? ( waste of time and resources))

Don't quote me on that though.
1704  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Planning to start a SMS Verification API on: March 27, 2018, 11:24:58 AM
It really depends on so many things. If you're numbers are unique and are going work with Twitter, Facebook, Google, Whatsapp etc. If you're planning to charge users for each verification or based on a monthly subscription. There is a service called smsverify.club that charge 0.6$ per verification for example. You will need to make competitive rates and still make it profitable for you.

Indeed, a site i used in the past charged just 0.1$/0.05$ for the verification of google/twitter accounts, but it seems that a lot of their numbers have stopped working/ are blocked by google.

See http://smspva.com/ if you're interested in looking into the rates of some of your competitors.

I am planning to create a SMS Verification Service with API. What is the best price should I charge per SMS?

I'd be more than happy to pay 0.3-0.5$ for twitter/google if your number would actually work instantly. ( Which is still 3x more expensive than what smspva charges, but i've found their service to be barely working currently.)
1705  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can we get cryptocurrency into the hands of more people? on: March 27, 2018, 10:44:40 AM
I think we all agree that Bitcoin and other cryptos are revolutionary. It's the difference between an analog phone and a smartphone. It's money versus smartmoney. So my question is what is everyone's best idea or plan to get crypto into the hands of the average individual? I asked this in the beginners board to hopefully get fresh perspective.

You'll need to make crypto just as user friendly as your average bank account, or paypal, which is a pretty hard thing to do without centralising.
( See all the big exchanges for example. Extremely user-friendly, but completely neglecting why bitcoin was made in the first place..)

Also, people will need to have a real incentive to step over from something that they're currently comfortable with ( fiat money), which is probably, and i hate to say it, another global crisis where the dollar won't survive.

You can push people to use bitcoin/cryptocurrencies as much as you want, but they're really not going to use it unless they really want to do so themselves.

1707  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I accept bitcoins on my website? on: March 26, 2018, 07:12:58 PM
I have an online shop and I would like to begin accepting bitcoins as a payment method. How can i do?

You can use BitPay's existing network or Zen Cart allows you to setup your own node to receive Bitcoin.
Or, alternatively, if you don't want to sign up for a BitPay's merchant account, or because you also want other altcoins, you could use something like Coinpayments, https://www.coinpayments.net/, which i believe supports over 200 coins.

I've looked into using them myself aswell and it looks pretty promising. Only 0.5% fees on incoming merchant transactions ( i believe Bitpay is 1%?)

Anyway i'll look into Zen cart myself to see what it is aswell, sounds interesting.
1708  Economy / Reputation / Re: Need Consideration Because Red Trust on: March 26, 2018, 03:57:52 PM
I try to to fix this problem by asking to some members here, I found one way to fix it, that is asking for help to The Pharmacist, because I got red trust from him.
And I try to send him PM but I'm not get the reply. Because I'm not get the answer untill now, I give this post here to fix this problem and I hope I get consideration for this.
The problem isn't when I got red trust from him, but because of me account acha1217 got red trust because my big mistake.
but I want to make clear this problem, and I want to tell the real problem.
• Acha1217 profile URL : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=987070

Here is detail :
• 28 January 2018, 06:05:40 PM : Acha1217 Send me 1 merit
• 19 February 2018, 02:35:29 AM : Acha1217 Send me 1 merit
• 04 March 2018, 07:01:53 PM: Acha1217 Send me 1 merit

Here is detail :
• 04 March 2018, 11:03:09 PM: I Send 1 merit to Acha1217

At the first time I don't know if give merit back to sender isn't allowed. And I send back to his account as my reward to Acha1217, But that is endanger Acha1217. After I got this red trust I so regret it, because of me his account got red trust and I try to fix this problem.
Acha1217 Never asking me to give his merit back, this is from my self, this is 100% my big mistake, I feel so shy because of myself Acha1217 got red trust. and I don't mean to start merit trade, because if I trade merit I will send all my merit to Acha1217 to make it fair.
I hope The Pharmacist consider this problem, please remove red trust at account Acha1217, you can give me more red trust because my mistake, that's fair for me!
And I need help from all staff and DT1 to consider this problem, because Acha1217 not have mistake, but this is my mistake and I'm wrong!

regards

Sudhik

Your excuse:

You didn't know if it was allowed to trade merit, but you did it anyway.

" Ignorantia juris non excusat "

Just because you and your friend were so ignorant to not look into the rules/ look into the stance of most DT members ( which i'm pretty sure is that they think it is pretty unethical to do ( trading merit)), you did it anyway.

I don't see why Acha1217 should be excluded/why the trust rating is invalid? Were you holding a gun to his head when you asked him to give you merit?

1709  Economy / Reputation / Re: Red trust ON/OFF !!! on: March 25, 2018, 12:16:08 PM

OP got a point here in my own perspective because when was the time of giving a red trust to those forum members that are selling their spare, extra, alt accounts started?

I'm not sure. Probably when spammers and scammers started taking it to such an enormous level which made the situation of account sellings uncontrollable?

Quote

It's still considered buying and selling of an account even if he got it from collateral, you are reliable with it once you own it.

I am neutral on this topic and want to get concrete answers from DT members or Mods., this top is so interesting though.

It is, but that isn't against the rules? DT members are free to choose who they tag, and who they don't. ( it doesn't even have to be against the rules, ( exempli gratia is scamming, which isn't against forum rules)).

Quote

I don't see anything wrong with a lender selling defaulted accounts. What else should he do with them? Give them away for free?

Also you're acting as if he is responsible to what happens with the account after he sold it, which is the equivalent of holding an arms dealer responsible to what happens  with the gun he sold to someone who commited a crime with it. It seems a bit far-fetched to me.

I'm not saying i condone what he did at the time ( as i probably wouldn't have done the same), but i could see why he did it, and i don't think there was any malicious intent. ( abusing campaigns/farming these accounts..).
1710  Economy / Reputation / Re: Red trust ON/OFF !!! on: March 24, 2018, 10:30:48 PM
is this Member encouraging scams, spam, and account farming? no, I'm pretty sure that NO, because it's a DT member even though he participated in the account sale Here

It's not the same thing. Not only was this a different time (2015), but i believe this member was selling accounts from people that defaulted on their loans. These account were basically the collateral for the loan.

He didn't buy those accounts himself  or farmed them, ( which is what usually happens and causes a lot of spam, which is what is really frowned upon.)

Your argument seems invalid, and it really has nothing to do with him being a DT member. ( Which i don't think he is, since he left negative feedback here, but it doesn't affect my rating, and i have Depth currently at (2?).)
1711  Economy / Services / Looking for someone to set up a script for me. on: March 24, 2018, 08:21:25 PM
As title states, i'm looking for someone to set up a script for me on my linux server.

It's primarily based on php, but it might be good to know how node.js / bitcoind works. Note that there's nothing to code, it's simply installing a script with some instructions in a ubuntu environment.

Please PM me if you think you can do the job, and give me your price.

Can pay upfront if you're trustworthy, it's not really a big deal.

//Closed, currently in talks with someone.
1712  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What will be most feasible usages for "Universal" cryptocurrencies in long run? on: March 24, 2018, 06:57:12 PM
When I say universal I am speaking to crypto's like Bitcoin (that serves a p2p economy), ethereum (that serves a development economy) etc. There are 1000's of alt coins that serve no real original purpose. Monero builds on an anonymous currency. These types of coins I named above serve very real, specific, and ideal purposes for the existence of their specific cryptocurrency. Many other coins I see on alt coin discussions  aren't realistically useful per se.

For instance, a crypto that just allows users to buy from multiple online venues using cryptocurrency. There's no real reason why one would need this aspect rather than using their CC on venues like Amazon. Add to that, these same venues may create their own digital currency eventually making these alt coins obselete.

If it's a person that I need to send money to it makes sense to use crypto rather than send a check or cash or visit THEIR specific bank etc since they do not have a CC merchant. Bitcoin makes sense here. Even the anonymous coins like Monero etc, sure the drug dealer angle isn't ethical, but there is an actual market there that anonymous makes sense.

So what I'm looking for is what others feel are very applicable platforms crypto would be a need in current real world needs. What needs can you think of, that were you to see an ICO for that need, would make you see it as a great investment because it has an actual market need that would be filled. Hope that makes sense. Thanks.

Honestly, i think that for most modern countries, adoption still has a long way to go.

The cryptocurrencies with the most usecase are (imo) cryptocurrencies that can be used for anonymous/private transactions,  ( Monero etc.) due to them being extremely viable in money laundering schemes/darknet markets. You might not like it, but that's the truth. Why do you think that Putin currently ''supports'' cryptocurrencies? (Evading sanctions?)

Projects like Ethereum are pretty promising (As ethereum could for example be used to make government spending more transparent, etc. ), but to state that they will replace current payment methods/fiat currencies any time soon is just really not the case yet (imo).

And yes, 99% of current ICO's/coin projects are nothing more then a shiny whitepaper. They don't have any real usecase. It's all buzzwords to ride the blockchain hype.
1713  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is blockchain 100 percent safe? Can the bitcoin transaction be trustful? on: March 24, 2018, 05:32:06 PM
Japanese exchange got hack eventhough they are using advance security.

How about blockchain ?
If there is an opportunity for hacker to hack the blockchain, it may happen so prepare for not just keep your all crypto asset in 1 place !

An exchange ( which is usually a centralized asset/entity) is really not comparable to the "bitcoin" blockchain as a whole.

Quote

I don't see how an exchange having problems with their own security is a threat to the blockchain as a whole, you either don't understand the cryptographical proof ( or lack thereof) bitcoin private keys have,  or you haven't read what this thread is about at all..
1714  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is blockchain 100 percent safe? Can the bitcoin transaction be trustful? on: March 24, 2018, 12:56:14 PM
Blockchain only helps in reducing the number of mediocre hackers which leaves the veteran hackers. They are the one that can suffice the hacking of blockchains.

*sigh*, how exactly would you hack a distributed/decentralized ledger?

The best you can probably do is either try to crack people's private keys, ( which is currently, unless you have some sort of quantum computer, impossible), or you could "stop" the blockchain from functioning correctly with a 51% attack, which costs alot of money rather than "hacking" skills.

I'm curious, In what way could the current chain be "hacked"?
1715  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cruxby.com Review 100% Legit on: March 24, 2018, 10:29:56 AM
i got few graphic cards from cruxby.com

I went first and cruxby did keep his promise and delivered on time, and also helped me in saving import tax.

All was new packed, had no issues.

Newbie account making statements about a new unknown service giving top-notch "services", being made so that no one can verify.

Aah... the common sockpuppet "scam". How did they help you in saving import taxes? For what prices did you buy these graphic cards, and is there any proof of that?

There's currently a world-wide surge on graphic cards, and you're telling me this company with a website design from 2011 can give you cards almost 50% under the current price?

https://www.amazon.com/MSI-RX-580-GAMING-8G/dp/B06Y19NMP3

 -- 600 $ --
vs

https://www.cruxby.com/x/msi/msi-radeon-rx-580/

-- 310$ --

Did you just expect anyone with a half-working brain to believe this?
1716  Economy / Services / Re: Bank account in Malta. on: March 23, 2018, 07:23:14 PM
Price?
100$. I will tell bank name after payment. You can use escrow. Only ID or Passport.

So what you are basically saying is that you are selling your Identity/ passport for 100 bucks? Cause you sure as hell don't know what your customers are going to do with the account, they could operate a ponzi scheme, or a money laundering company, and basically commit all these crimes  with all your information attached to your account?

Is this even allowed by the bank themselves? How legit is this?
1717  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to unlock Ban ID? on: March 23, 2018, 05:46:52 PM
How do I turn off the ban?
I finally paid the money and re-signed the NEW ID.
I do not know how to write because it is a newbie and it seems to be treated as spam.
I sent an email to ADMIN, but he has no answer.

A ban on your account =/= a "ban"/small fee to register another account.

See, these two are very different things.

Are you actually banned from the forum? In that case, no matter how much money you'll pay, your account isn't going to be unbanned, (that is, ofcourse, assuming your ban is permanent.)

If you paid money to get your IP unblocked/unblacklisted ( getting rid of the units of evil), it should automatically work, as i think it did, since you're posting with an account right now? What exactly is the problem?
1718  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Marketing Campagins on: March 23, 2018, 02:52:55 PM
They just close ads, but not with posts about crypto created by media accounts. So I guess we are not too worried about that, while every new ICO holds a bounty for their project.

Indeed, which makes bounty campaigns on twitter etc even more valuable to these startups.

I guess we will also see some more shitcoin campaigns here if their advertising on facebook/google/twitter is being cut off.

They don't actually close the ads for crypto. and I think you can still advertise your ICO's there just make sure that you can provide a legalization of your business the same as google ads. Just to prevent scam cryptocurrency to spread in all over the internet.

These articles kind of suggest otherwise, ( that it is indeed a ban on ALL ico's, but that it might be temporarily) https://techcrunch.com/2018/01/30/facebook-is-banning-cryptocurrency-and-ico-ads/

I don't really see telegram being a good replacement for twitter/google ads/facebook. Reddit ads themselves might be able to take on that role which was previously carried by google/facebook ( cpm/cpc ads), but i doubt that they won't ban them anytime soon aswell ( the promotion of ICO's.).
1719  Other / Meta / Re: accounts that have been hacked on: March 22, 2018, 07:25:43 PM

yes my account, this is a link to my account https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1154767
what is the possibility to return?
I will try it
thank you

I'm really not familiar with Bitcoin.co.id, it looks like a web wallet, so i doubt that you can sign a message.

Best thing you could probably do is contact their support and ask them if it is possible to sign one. However due to this article i don't think it is possible at all to be honest, https://help.bitcoin.co.id/apakah-alamat-bitcoin-di-akun-vip-saya-bisa-dijadikan-alamat-wallet/

You'd have to sign a message with the wallet address assigned to your hacked account; to prove that the account is indeed yours.

For more information: Topic: Recovering hacked accounts or accounts with lost passwords

and How to sign a message with a Electrum wallet?

is there another way sir?
because my bitcoin address has no quote / verification, so it's pretty hard to do
Unless you can provide a new identification method that 100% proves it is your account, no. If you can on some miraculous way, i'd say contact one of the administrators, and they *might* be able to help you.

Also, the quality of posts on your account wasn't that good, it might just be better to start over fresh. I doubt that that account is going to get into any signature campaigns.
1720  Other / Meta / Re: accounts that have been hacked on: March 22, 2018, 03:58:38 PM
hay, my bitcointalk account has been hacked along with his email, how do I get my bitcointalk account back?
because my account is now being used by someone so I can not access it again.

What is your account?

You will need to sign a message from a staked adress on your account ( an adress that has been quoted by someone else in your post history), to prove that you actually own the account. There's no other way for admins to verify if the account is otherwise actually yours.

More instructions can be found Here, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0.
yes my account, this is a link to my account https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1154767

thank you

In your case, it is going to be very hard.

You made 3 posts up until today with your adress in it, I archived the earliest one here, 1EwSrxgtPHP8spoHq5DuexGfsjh6eS1D6v, would you be able to sign from that?
http://archive.is/tplnm#selection-9715.0-9723.30

But they're not quoted by anyone/verified at the time so i'm not sure how much credibility these adresses hold. You'll need to contact a moderator for that.
