Can 2FA be added to the forum?

Probably won't be added to the current forum, would be a lot of hassle for no real reason, as they're  already planning to add this in the new forum already.. If that EVER comes...

See hilariousandco's post about it here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1100415.10 talking about adding it.
2102  Other / Meta / Re: Ideas for improving post quality? on: December 18, 2017, 06:23:01 PM
I like the merit points idea very much.

My suggestion:

I would say fixing a minimum char limits in some of the sections of forum will lower down huge no.of spammy posts that altcoin discussion bumpers or spammers make like:

Quote
Wow  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes ...Interesting project.

However I think it should be implemented on only in some of the sections where we often find these kind of posts as spammy.
Not really, i've seen plenty of spammers simply spouting more nonsense just so they have 75-100 chars. They will just adapt and make their sentences a bit longer with even more nonsense.

I really doubt that that is going to solve anything.

- lock off-topic/low-quality  Discussion.

- remove Other languages/locations Board.

- make post quality trust (like normal trust).

Or simply remove the potential activity from Offtopic/Politics/Local Boards.

2103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Mass sending of bitcoins on: December 18, 2017, 04:49:31 PM
Hi.
What purse or service supports the mass sending of bitcoins to multiple bitcoin addresses?
How per one transaction can I send different amounts to different bitcoin wallets?
What purse or service should I use for it?

You can use electrum, and then manually make a transaction, ( if they don't support it but i'm pretty sure they do.) See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=451707.0

Alternatively  you can use bitcoind and use the "sendmany" Call? Should work aswell.

EDIT: See posts below. Electrum does suppot mass sending just as described in linked thread

In my humble opinion, just pay a bit of a higher fee to avoid the inconvenience next time.
In my humble opinion, just pay a bit of a higher fee to avoid the inconvenience next time.

It's not actually paying a higher bit of fee but choosing the higher fee will be different when it comes to time transaction. Accelerators can be used also with this kind of issue paying with a small amount.

Most of the problems like this happens when the transaction amount is almost same with the transaction fee.
I would contact LocalBitcoins because it has likely reverted back to the wallet and out of the mempool by now.
Hi Guys, hoping someone can help me. I transferred Bitcoin from Local Bitcoins NZ 2 days ago to my wallet. It has left Local Bitcoins but hasn't shown up in my wallet!

your transaction has been accelerated. I should suggest you to check and speed up as soon as you do your transfer. It is the easiest way to shorten time.

Did any of you guys even check the transaction ID before writing your post?

The TXID of the time of posting of OP already had atleast over 100 confirmations.. It was

and shortly confirmed in  Block: 499552..

My god the current state of the forum is really, really bad.

Then there is something wrong with your wallet, as the transaction ID you provided da086e2b3954e81daa7de6b8cf330db26959d457b80a1c636a1a2f8572fa2bbd seems to have been confirmed a long time ago.

(Currently has over 260 Confirmations).

What wallet are you using?
2106  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should I Mine? Can I mine? Helllllllllllp on: December 17, 2017, 06:29:15 PM
Still looking for answers, thanks everyone!

Why wouldn't you if you have free power? If you simply make sure your rig doesn't overheat, every $ is profit ( if you weren't going to do anything anyway with the pc's.

600 H/s would get you ~ 62$ a month, which could be a lot depending on where you are from. See https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/xmr?HashingPower=600&HashingUnit=H%2Fs&PowerConsumption=200&CostPerkWh=0.0

That's ~720$ per year. Might not be much, but depending on the effort you need to put in, it might just be worth it.
2107  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Gathering up dust on: December 16, 2017, 10:05:12 PM
I have the private keys to several outputs in the 0.01 — 0.1 BTC range. This kind of amount is quickly approaching dust level (https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/ currently recommends ~0.001 BTC for a standard transaction). Suppose I'm not at all in a hurry, what is the best strategy to avoid the outputs to become effectively unspendable in the future?

  • Combine them all in a single output?
    • Since I'm not in a hurry, I could use a very small transaction fee, say one that gives the transaction a ~10 % chance of getting mined. If it doesn't get through, I can simply resend it.
    • I read somewhere that transactions stay in the mempool for 72 hours. Is that correct?
  • Do nothing and just wait?
    • The lightning network should make sending bitcoins cheaper. But that per se doesn't help in this case as the small outputs are still there at a fundamental level.
    • However, if the lightning network reduces the number of actual bitcoin transactions, they should become cheaper.
    • The transaction costs may not go up much higher because only holders of larger assets would be willing to pay the fees, leading to an equilibrium.
  • Something else?

You should combine them all together, and then try to have atleast 5sat/b, and try to get it confirmed by adding it into mining pool accelerators such as http://confirmtx.com.

Transactions usually stay in the mempool depending on how long you keep broadcasting them. If you don't stop broadcasting it, it won't disappear.

2108  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can I recover USDT which sent to BTC wallet? on: December 16, 2017, 08:43:32 PM
I honestly don't blame them for having that 5K threshold.  Otherwise they would have to employ a bunch of people to fix the mistakes of all the noobs/drunk traders/idiots/uninformed people who send shit where it wasn't intended to go.  Triple check everything, every time.  If you're not sure, check again.

On the other hand, it would be nice if it just didn't allow you to send A-Coin to B-Coin address.

This. A good wallet will prevent coins being sent to an incorrect address format. For two entirely different techs (like USDT - BTC) this should be easily preventable.

I don't think you actually understand that that is impossible.

A bitcoin adress is exactly the same as a USDT adress. They are both generated with the same keys.

So a USDT adress will also be a valid BTC adress. Any wallet prohibiting sending anything to a USDT adress will also prohibit to sending to every bitcoin adress.
2109  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: paper wallet on: December 16, 2017, 06:35:56 PM
I'm surprised, is there a paper wallet? where I can buy, ?
You couldn't be asked to simply google it?

You can't buy a paper wallet, you simply create them using a tool such as https://www.bitaddress.org/bitaddress.org-v3.3.0-SHA256-dec17c07685e1870960903d8f58090475b25af946fe95a734f88408cef4aa194.html

>Generate a wallet

> Choose paper wallet

> Print out the papers with all the keys etcetera.

> Voila. There's your paper wallet.

Make sure you're offline while generating the wallet on the site, as you never know what information they or other 3rd parties gather.
2110  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is a fork? on: December 16, 2017, 05:22:05 PM
People often talk about the fork, but i don't know what that means. Any good links?

https://blog.coinbase.com/what-is-a-bitcoin-fork-cba07fe73ef1?gi=5f8bfde94062
https://www.coindesk.com/short-guide-bitcoin-forks-explained/

A fork is basically a split of the network, mostly due to disagreements about for example the blocktimes, or sizes ( see bitcoin  cash).

What happens is that at a certain moment ( snapshot), the bitcoin chain will split, and another blockchain will be born.

You also have forks that are done by accident, when 2 miners mine a block at the same time, the network will be split aswell, until the next block is mined. ( nodes will accept the longest chain.) The other block will either be orphaned, or rejected.
2111  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Transaction confirmed but not in my wallet? on: December 16, 2017, 04:46:53 PM

I have a question.
In my opinion is this transaction confirmed and must be in my wallet from litebit.
https://blockchain.info/tx/6fb427878ea6cdcfe106cd3731098e99eb6689fb2e9f09b571bb7ccad2215641
Wallet 1GC5e6kaxRfc6VGPoQZFnuQTNnrry8tRi4

But in my wallet stays the follow text:
Pending deposits
Coin      Amount   Confirmations
Bitcoin   0.04990367   0/2

Is this transaction real confirmed or not?
Have someone any idea or a solution?
Thanks!

The transaction has over 200 confirmations, at which point you can indeed definitely say that it is confirmed.

As i read it, you are sending bitcoin to litebit.eu, -> right?

In that case, the fault is at their software,  and not the bitcoin protocol/ your transaction.

You should contact their support and see if they can manually fix the issue.
2112  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: does private keys really safe on: December 16, 2017, 04:29:45 PM
anyway thanks for you all for these precious advises , as i  understand those are just randomly generated  private key to encourage us to put our private keys for testing ( stoleing ) ,but really they made a huge efforts to generates  this big number of fake private keys hopping to fish someone with 10000 satoshi balance like me

So where on the site do they ask you to add your private keys in a malicious way?

You can simply add already leaked private keys, but i really wouldn't call this site a phishing site.

Also, these keys aren't fake, they are real and have a corresponding valid adress. try it out for yourself.

Add vulnerabled keys:

If you found vulnerabled private keys or hacked something great, please add these keys into our database. You can show your proof of hack to everybody and prevent future leaks of private keys.
2113  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to count all posts of anyone from a thread on: December 16, 2017, 02:40:05 PM
I had joined translation campaign as well as moderating thread for a few projects before but I don't know how bounty manager count exactly my posts of anyone from a thread. Any ideal for this issue?
What exactly do you mean?

I believe that signature managers simply go to through your post history to see if the posts you made were viable, (and complied with the rules given to posting). They don't look through every single thread in the forum if that is what you mean.

This indeed might be different for ANN threads, where say for example you need to make 1 post a week, but i believe this is against the rules ( self-bumping).
2114  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which Crypto wallet ? on: December 16, 2017, 12:44:12 PM
Hi

::)New to the crypto world. which wallet do you recommend for beginners? this for both bitcoins and altcoins? how many wallets should you have to have for tradings?  Huh Huh

many thanks

For beginners, i would either recommend you to use Bitcoin Core, https://bitcoin.org/en/bitcoin-core/  , or even more noob-friendly, Electrum. https://electrum.org/#home

For both bitcoin and altcoin, you could try something like Exodus https://www.exodus.io/releases/

Quote
how many wallets should you have to have for tradings?  Huh Huh

This would depend, you can choose to keep all your altcoin funds in the exchange, which is not so secure, or you can use the wallet specified by the developers of the altcoin. ( If it it isn't support by say Exodus).

Always be wary to check the wallet of viruses, if it is a relatively unknown altcoin. Developers tend to hide them in these files sometimes.

Never use something like blockchain.info, as you will be missing alot of features, including direct access to your private keys, RBF transactions, and CPFP transactions.
2115  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stuck transaction. Unsure what to do. on: December 16, 2017, 11:48:11 AM
i am facing same problem .. My transaction is stuck in chain.so since last 5 days !
if i check the transaction id it does not shows in www.blockchain.info but its shows in www.chain.so (i dnt know what does this mean )
secondly the website which i withdrawn Btc similarly other user have same problem.  Huh

if anyone from www.oaccoin.com and have same withdrawn problem please update .

thank you any help will be appreciated.

You should provide more information, if it's a double spend to trick you, it should be easily visible, if it's not, but just a transaction with low fees or a transaction that isn't broadcasted properly, that should be visible aswell.

Please link your TXID, and what wallet exactly did you use to broadcast your transaction? Or did you use the OACCoin.com service?
2116  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Unconfirmed Transaction with a twist on: December 16, 2017, 11:35:07 AM
Hi  guys!
I recently used the abandon transaction option in Bitcoin Core when a transaction did not get confirmed after weeks. It worked and the coins were credited back to my wallet. Today the same transaction is back on and again in unconfirmed status (without me doing anything)
I'm using version 0.15.0.1 on Windows 10

This is the transaction:

2dfb5563c084ba62acbc66d46071630a13c5683dec8598b66f4973ecd5b42657

What happened here and what can I do to abandon the transaction?

You simply used the AbandonTransaction option in bitcoin core?

Is it currently greyed out? You could try to delete the mempool.dat, then, use walletbroadcast=0 and try to abandon the TX again.

Alternatively, use -zapwallettxes if all the above doesn't work. It should remove the transaction, (and all other unconfirmed transactions)

2117  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there any difference between BTT User ID and Username? on: December 15, 2017, 10:56:34 PM
I'm confused.
While filling some forms I was asked to fill my Bitcointalk Username which is pretty straight forward (for me is "wisdomabioye") but in the case of user Id, is it the same with the username or the number shown in profile url?

I'd say that the user ID is indeed the number shown in the profile URL, yes. So yours would be 1343936

So yes, there is indeed a difference. Also, the lower your ID is, the earlier you signed up on the forum, while your username is simply what you chose.

Some campaigns may require you to do this because they don't want to go through the hassle of searching up bitcointalk usernames with weird letters and symbols in them.
2118  Economy / Goods / Re: iPhone X unlocked on: December 15, 2017, 09:44:43 PM
Hi, do you accept scrow?

Can i take 1 for 0.1 btc?

Willing to accept that and also willing to use an escrow service. Care to suggest one?
Your price went down 1000% rather quickly.  Roll Eyes

You are now selling an Iphone X for 1750$, which is still way overpriced, (how could you ever offer this to a non-trusted 3rd party reseller), as the retailer price is like 999$. https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-iphone/iphone-x

Ontop of that you have included no screenshots, no prove, and yet all these accounts simply place offers? Could you maybe

A. provide proof you own the phone,

B. Give us a realistic price for it?

Also, how can we exactly be sure that this isn't some counterfeit iPhone from China?

Hi, do you accept scrow?

2119  Other / Meta / Indirectly posting refferal links - Allowed? on: December 15, 2017, 08:41:07 PM
I was just wondering if it is actually allowed to indirectly promoted your ref links, say through an article on a domain, or twitter page, you name it.

I've seen quite a bit of these popping up, and i'm pretty sure it's against the rules (?).

These for example:

This is just the first page of the beginners section.
2120  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Transaction from investment site to coinbase stuck on: December 15, 2017, 08:10:42 PM
I have withdrawn and sent to and from coinbase and this investment site with no issues probably 20 or 25 times.

This time, the transaction fee for some reason was so small that the transaction is stuck pending.. What can I do to push it through?

I was going to try CPFP but I do not have access to the private keys from coinbase.. So that's out.

The tx is: 8149b62f1aff34c32d5ef9915ec28815af0cb9605eca9bcb30d45cc965e1bf5f

If anyone can help I'll be glad to tip, the transaction is only ~$330 but, still. Lol

Thanks!

Fee is only 7 sat/byte. This transaction is indeed not going to be able to be confirmed manually.

I don't think a RBF is possible either because you don't control the private keys.

The only thing you could do is try to accelerate it by adding it to http://confirmtx.com/ or Antpool's accelerator.
