1641  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What will be BTC price when it reaches 1 billion users? on: April 30, 2018, 08:01:47 PM
Any thoughts? It will be higher or lower?  Grin

Your question seems a bit illogical.. ( Or too logical  Grin)

Ofcourse the price is going to be higher if more people use it. Less supply (people will keep losing coins over time) and more demand/people that want to have/use it.

I however am interested in seeing how Meltcalfe's law works with cryptocurrencies, ( defining the value of seomething based on the amount of users it has). (If it is applicable at all here.)

1642  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Bet against my portfolio on: April 30, 2018, 05:23:52 PM
Someone has to want to bet me.

Depends.

What coin are you choosing, and what should the minimum volume of said coin be?

I can easily choose a coin that has like 30$ volume and 10k marketcap, then pump it 5000%, and win. Seems pretty unfair to me.

(And i also think this is your strategy, since you seem overly confident that you're going to win.(?))
1643  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Are these DigitalOcean coupons actually legit? on: April 30, 2018, 02:51:48 PM
they are legit codes, but they only work for new accounts

So you can only use them once ( 1 per (new) account) or multiple times?

-- Do you need to add some form of funds yourself before you are able to use the credit or not?
1644  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Building otc exchange on: April 30, 2018, 01:50:54 PM
Not sure where to post this...

I was wondering if buildning otc exchane btc-eth-ltc-zec-xlm is worth an ico. I know how to build it, i just dont have monetary iniciative. Is this worth anything?

I think its also possible to implement eth on lightning network. Is this worth a thing?

Seems like you're a little late to the party, https://otcexchange.company/, https://next.exchange/, https://bitcoinexchangeguide.com/off-exchange/

It looks like there's already  a dozen of these kind of exchanges out there. They all seem a bit scammy though.

Looks like you will need to have a lot of unique features to stand out, otherwise people will just invest in the bigger companies/ICO's that are already out there.
1645  Other / Meta / Re: plagiarism report DT members needed on: April 30, 2018, 01:41:08 PM
iillaa , there is a option "Report to moderator" for each post and best way is to use this option to report plagiarism. What report should contain is link to original post/source and archived post of user you want to report.

In most cases of plagiarism punishment is a permanent ban,but you should keep in mind that there is a lot of reports and that moderators need time to process everything.

A. this is a site copying/mirroring bitcointalk, so reporting doesn't make any sense, and isn't really possible.

B. Reporting a user for plagiarism using the "Report to Moderator" button i believe doesn't do anything. You'll need to open a topic in the meta section of the forum to actually get them banned.
( I believe i read this somewhere where a moderator stated this was the case.)
1646  Economy / Digital goods / Are these DigitalOcean coupons actually legit? on: April 30, 2018, 12:43:07 PM
I am seeing alot of these 50$ DigitalOcean coupons for a very cheap price (1.5$ - 5$), which doesn't really make any sense to me.

I've tried asking a vendor if these are actually legit, but haven't really received an answer yet. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2519456.msg35746596#msg35746596

Has anyone ever bought these, and if so, what were the requirements for activating them on DigitalOcean? Is this actually allowed by DigitalOcean or are these sellers abusing some sort of giveaway code?

I'm tempted to buy a couple of these, but not if they're breaking DO's TOS/abusing something.

(Is this the right section for a thread like this? If not, please suggest where to move it to.)
1647  Other / Meta / Re: THIS SHOULD BE STOPPED ONCE AGAIN. on: April 28, 2018, 12:05:34 PM
So, i went through your post history a little bit.

I've found numerous comparisons already, although not the smoking gun yet.

Do not give your account informations and your IDs to these people because you wont know when will these people will sell your informations in the darkweb,it is better to be safe than sorry when it happened.I personally not going to participate with these ICOs if they will require my personal informations because it might be use to anything online.

3 days later,

KYC verifcations will need get your IDs,but for your security you can have fake IDs first so that if your ID was sold into the darkweb your identity would be safe, because you didnt send your own ID.Most of the ICOs are doing this KYC thing to be sure that they arent violating the SEC's regulation which prohibiting all of the U.S citizens from joining any ICOs.

And this one is also pretty funny, in the "BitConnect Lawsuit" thread.

See the comparisons for yourself. All of them also have more or less the same grammar/spelling mistakes it seems. Most of them use "Put to jail" instead of put in jail. rephrasing billions of dollars etc.

Cryptomena:
This is the justice that the people need after deceiving by these founders, although most of the people knew the risky they still have joined this ponzi scheme.Founders who had stolen billions of dollars could be imprisoned lifetime if these people have done enough to destory the investor's life, they shoudl be hang to death in the public places to serve as warnings to all the greedy people.
cryptoatomic:
This is great those people who got scammed can have their revenge to these people, this is what they deserved after stealing billions of dollars of investments to the most of the people who were fooled by their promises,i expected this to happen from the start that is why i stopped my friends from investing to these type of schemes.

cryptospear???

This is very good news especially those people who got scammed by this well crafter ponzi scheme from the past that are seeking justice, the damage has been done but if the lawsuit would be successful they can still get what they have invested to,scammers shouldnt be given any chance in our community decentralization is a good thing but some of these people are abusing the privilege of it.

cryptodev???

They should be put to jain forever, they have destroyed a lot of lives and stole billion dollars of investments to those big and small investors, shouldnt be given chance to prove their innosense because they have done enough damage to those people who have been fooled by their ponzi promises,a ponzi scheme from the start and will end just like the other ponzi is.

cryptodrei???

This is very great because the justice starts to put these people down, most of these has billions of dollars in their pocket stolen from those noob investors who doesnt know to do research or those people who risk their money into this well crafter ponzi scheme,it was scam from the start but most of the people didnt mind the posibilities of being scammed because of the promises of these greedy people.

cryptoux???

This is indeed a good thing for those people who are asking for justice, billions of dollars has been stolen from most of the investors who had joined this ponzi scheme, these people should given a life imprisonment so that there will be no one to follow their footsteps,it was a scam from the start but most of the people doesnt do researching before that is why a lot of people are getting scammed.

cryptopuma???

This will served as a good lesson for those who will follow the same path as these scammers did, never under estimate the power of justice because it will always find its way to get your asses down. This is a very good news for those people who got scammed last year because they will be given a chance to get back the stolen billions of dollars from them.

cryptomorphine

Scammers shoud be all put in jail, those families who have lost a lot of money because of this ponzi scheme, well we cannot blame these people because they just want to earn money faster.People should be always be careful before getting involved with these projects so that in the end of the day they wont regret what will happen to their investments.

cryptomngr
Great news to all the crypto universe, the community will be pleased to what will happen to those founders who are the brains of this biggest cryptocurrency scam project, people are right they shouldnt be given a chance to have their lawyer because they did steal billions of dollars of investments from those poor investors who got baited with their promises.

cryptocue ( Not tagged yet?)
This is great because those damages that they have done to those investors will be paid off, life imprisonment wont be enough but a death penalty would be good so that those people who are planning to to shady things like bitconnect would be scared, hard earned money from people are getting stolen and these people doesnt deserved to live.

cryptocrocs

Those people behind the bitconnect scam surely doesnt see this coming, justice will find its way to get their karmas turn to themselves. These people should be put to jail immediately because they stole billions of dollar investments from those hard working people who only wants to earn money from their promises,it will be a good start for our community to fight those greedy people.

cryptoprophecy

Justince will prevail, hunt those founders too so that these people wont be enjoying the money that they have stolen from thousands of people. They should put to jail as soo as possible so that these type of activities wont have any chance to scam people in our community.Their wrong doings shouldnt be tolerated by the law!

Seems like they're all rephrasing the same original reply. I think The Pharmacist is definitely onto something here.

1648  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] Autobuy Digital Ocean $50 Credit Code Accept ETH , BCH , DASH , LTC on: April 27, 2018, 07:59:55 PM
Bump!

Still Selling

Welcome to buy Smiley

Hey, i got some quick questions about these.

If i buy these credit codes, can i simply activate them, and then use 50$ worth of credit on DigitalOcean? (that wouldn't make any sense)? Or do i need to deposit X amount of $ myself before they're validated?

What's the catch?

Did you obtain these in a legitimate way? Will DigitalOcean suspend my account if i use these? I don't get how i can get 50$ worth of credit for just a couple bucks. Seems too good to be true?
1649  Economy / Services / Re: VPS FULL ADMINISTRATOR/ROOT on: April 27, 2018, 06:52:32 PM

You seem quite unprofessional..

I don't think that's a very good trait when you're trying to sell something to users. Especially something that requires trust.

Anyway, how much monthly bandwith does your VPS have? If unlimited, what speeds can we expect?

1650  Economy / Marketplace / Re: I became a victim of the fraud on: April 27, 2018, 03:29:27 PM
Hello everyone, I hope I will not be banned for this.

In general, I became a victim of fraud and this is due to bitcoin wallet. I'll tell you from the very beginning.

I got a job in one office, which deals with money loans. My task was to communicate with debtors and for every payment I had to receive 5%. One debtor asked his supposed friend to make a transfer to my account. My supervisor approved this and said that I hsve to take this amount and put on a bitcoin wallet. Today I got a call from the bank and said that the person who sent the money requires them back, but I already sent them. My supervisor does not answer me, the bank was told that they will contact me when the main office processes all the information that I gave them about the company and in general. In the bitcoin shop, I was told that money can not be returned if you have only a QR code of your wallet and an address. I do not have that amount to return that person (4,500 euros)

How can I return this money back? If someone does this, or knows someone who does this, I will be grateful for any information.

I'm having some trouble understanding your story.

Someone who owns you money sends you 4.5k through a "friend"(?) to you, in fiat(?) your supervisor tells you to convert the fiat(?) to bitcoin, which you did using the bitcoin shop(?)?

Where do you have the bitcoins now? Can't you use an exchange such as bitstamp to convert the bitcoin back to EUR and send the euros back to the bank account of the "friend"(?) that send the money to  you in the first place?
1651  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Best Could Mining? on: April 27, 2018, 02:43:22 PM
I just want to ask, is cloud mining worth than investing or mining? Can you recommend a Could Mining Website that LEGIT.

Even if you would remove all the risks from cloud mining, the answer is still NO. Think about it, why would anybody ever "rent" out a mining contract to you, when they could use their own equipment to make even more money ? ( Since the mining contract would obviously make you profit, otherwise you wouldn't buy it.) That doesn't make any sense?

If you see a cloud mining site do this, giving you a huge contract for a really small price, chances are you're going to get scammed. Either by the site going down, or them limiting/downgrading your contract by x % every month.

Some moderator answering me  if to have a kind of signature is against rules.

They have deleted me 3 messages where I have the next:
-snip-

It is indeed not allowed to have a signature/BBC code in your text post/content.

You can only put a signature in the box under your content, ( which can be modified here for you, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1966130;sa=forumProfile), but because you're still a newb, your options there for signatures are rather limited.

See rule #24,

Quote
24. Advertisements (including signatures within the post area) in posts aren't allowed unless the post is in a thread you started and is really substantial and useful.[9][e]

1653  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Multisignature wallet services on: April 27, 2018, 10:53:38 AM
Bump

I don't think that there's currently an application out there which supports multisignature wallets for MULTIPLE crypto's in one interface.

What crypto's exactly do you want a multisig wallet for?

Anyway, for bitcoin i'd recommend to use  Electrum. Alternatively you could also maybe use something like armory/Bitcoin Core.

If you're also looking for regular multicrypto wallets, take a look here,https://www.cryptocompare.com/wallets, there might actually be some wallets that support multisig. ( Watch what you're downloading though!)
1654  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: posts getting deleted on: April 27, 2018, 10:18:04 AM
I'm doing a signature campaign and only make what I consider to be quality posts. My post count keeps going down and I'm not sure why. I've been notified of deleted posts when a moderator thinks they are off topic so is this something else? Any help would be welcome, thank you.

If your posts are getting deleted without you being notified of it, ( seems this is the case?) it means that the moderators thrashed the entire topic/thread you were posting in, because the thread itself was offtopic, a duplicate, or simply getting flooded with spam answers. (I'd say most topics in Offtopic/Bitcoin Discussion/ fall under this category).

You for example posted in this topic, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2323894.msg35702223#msg35702223, "Alt or BTC", with the following post,

There can be only one answer to this and that is to buy both. Maybe 40% btc and 60% alt, or a ratio that you are more comofortable with. It makes sense to diversify for now.

With over 110 pages, i'm almost certain that the contents of your answer have already been posted atleast a dozen times. That's why threads like these often get thrashed/removed by moderators. They add nothing, no discussion.. It's just people rephrasing other people's answers for their signature campaign...
1655  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Nonce of bitcoin Blockchain on: April 26, 2018, 06:35:40 PM
This is for maintaining complexity of solving the puzzle or creating and validating a block in bitcoin blochchain. Current value for Nonce has been decided as creating around 10 minutes delay for block creating. I have few problems about Nonce.  Who are the people, deciding Nonce of bitcoin Blockchain. And what are the parameters of choosing a value? Could you please anyone explain these?
You mean how people/or miners determine/verify whether a nonce is correct, or simply how it is created?

I think this answer explains quite well how the nonce is determined.

See https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/1290/when-a-block-is-discovered-how-is-the-nonce-determined

1657  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Fork, and other problems on: April 26, 2018, 01:52:24 PM
A Fork is the same as a collision? How many technical problems do you know about, and which one is the most dangerous ( with Bitcoin) ?

What do you mean with collision? Key collision?

If so, no, a fork is entirely different, and the two are barely (if not) related.

Also, i'd say that a key collision isn't really a problem. Although it is possible, it is extremely unlikely to happen on the regular. See https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/7724/what-happens-if-your-bitcoin-client-generates-an-address-identical-to-another-pe

Also, ( soft/hard) forks aren't a "danger" for bitcoin per se. More often than not they're done to improve the state of the bitcoin network. (SW)
1658  Other / Meta / Re: Post the proof of your hacked account here on: April 24, 2018, 07:26:55 PM
Due to there is a ton of "  Account Hacked " threads. I suggest to be all the proofs for the owners of those accounts right here.

Simply, you must use this template (  By Theymos )  with the appropriate proof and then, post it in this thread.

Code:
 -----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----
My account <account> has been hacked/lost. Please reset the email to <email>. The current date is <date>.
-----BEGIN SIGNATURE-----
<insert address here>
<insert signature here>
-----END BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Here is the unedited post where I posted that address: ...
OR
I sent that address to someone in a PM with PM ID#...

( Do not re-post it )

Be patience. And please, do not send PM many times to  Administrators .

Hope this move  will help Cyrus and Theymos to check all the proofs.

Already exists.... How could you have possibly missed it?

Anyone that has ever used them before? Alot of the products listed there redirect to a dead link, or are no longer available.

I was trying to use getrawmempool:

Code:
bitcoin-cli getrawmempool

But it just returns empty result:
Quote
[]

I am running bitcoind in prune mode. Could this be the reason or is there another explanation?

No, running bitcoind in prune mode indeed does not let you use "getrawmempool".

See the answer below which describes it better than i ever could.

The mempool is where transactions are stored until they get put into a block. It would be hard to determine you had the correct mempool if you didn't keep track of the whole block chain, though. For example, someone could broadcast an older transaction, and you would have no way to determine that you shouldn't just add it to your mempool if you didn't keep track of the whole block chain. Transactions also have to pass some basic validation before they can be added to the mempool, validation which requires having all the blockchain data.

If there were a program to implement this, it would at least have to process all new blocks as they came in, in order to determine which transactions to take out of the mempool as blocks get solved.
