1481  Other / Meta / Re: Paid Posting in BCT on: August 04, 2018, 09:20:57 AM
Is there any rule for this kind of shitty paid bumping?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't this exactly the same as the "ANN bumping services" that a lot of 3rd parties offer here on BCT ( which is definitely against the rules?)
The only difference here is is that it isn't a 3rd party that is "offering" this, but the OP of the ANN thread itself that needs to be bumped...

According to the forum's rules:
Quote from: mprep on July 21, 2014, 05:27:51 PM
13. Bumps, "updates" are limited to once per 24 hours.
The specifics aren't provided hence it is open for interpretation. If I will be the one to interpret this, even though the OP is not the one bumping the thread but hiring someone to do so which doesn't follow the 24-hour rule means he still is violating it as a mind of the idea of doing so. In result of doing so, he and the service provider will also (possibly) violate other forum's rules by doing so such as rule#1, 2 and so on.

P.S. That service thread should be taken down.

I would agree with this interpretation, and i think a lot of other users/staff do too, thus i'm pretty sure that it's bannable what they're doing.

1482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to connect to only one node at startup on: August 03, 2018, 02:20:20 PM
I have a computer with synced blockchain so I'd like to connect to it via its internal IP and sync my blockchain on another laptop. For that I need to connect to that computer ONLY. However, I don't know how to go about it.

I read that adding to config file "connect=..." will connect the wallet ONLY to that node. But that didn't work. I tried to set maxconnections=0 and maxoutboundconnection=0 but it didn't do anything. It almost seemed like it didn't register my config file.

Adding the node after the start of wallet worked fine.

My question: what to write in my bitcoin.conf so that my wallet connects to my pc only?

Thanks

I'm not sure if i'm really understanding what you're asking, but if you want to connect to just 1 particular node, i think you can use something along the lines of:

Quote
1. -addnode=<ip> Add a node to connect to and attempt to keep the connection open
2. -connect=<ip> Connect only to the specified node(s)

I want to know why my old account was banned. Username is jaephoenix. Profile https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1158783

Shitposting.  You contribute nothing to the forum.  :/

I think he actually got banned for copy-pasting, but looking at his post history, a ban for just spam in general would've also been more than justified.

The concept of Crypto- Tokens explained.
Tokens are basically digital assets that are housed on any blockchain platform of the creators’ choice. Crypto-tokens are usually a representation of tangible value because more and more businesses are tokenizing their resources and assets. Other projects create tokens that represent a portion of the business for crowd investors which is known as an equity token. The Security Exchange Commission (SEC)in the United States went a step further by defining tokens as securities because they represent value.

There are many tokens in existence as the process of token creation has been simplified over the years. Waves platform, for instance, has reduced the process on token creation to a matter of minutes. Now virtually anyone can create their own token. So the first thing to note when identifying a token is, it is not the native currency of the blockchain it runs on. For this reason, tokens are not mined like coins are.
To conclude, the main difference between coins and tokens is, the former is a method of trade whilst the latter is a representation of an asset or any form of value.

1484  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin wallet id numbers on: August 03, 2018, 08:46:16 AM
When you say bitcoin "wallet id" I assume you mean wallet address right?

Wallet addresses(at least as of now) just start with:
  • 1xxxxxx
  • 3xxxxxx
  • bc1qxxx

and nothing else.

I'm afraid it's quite not possible to find out what wallet service you were using just by looking at the address. Did you use a web wallet or a software wallet? I suggest taking a look at your browser history to find out what web wallet you used or what software wallet you downloaded.

I think this is some sort of wallet identifier which is/can be unique for that site. Just like blockchain.com has.

@OP How long ago was this? 6 months, a year, 2 years? I think that blockchain.info(.com) might have used these 4444-4444-1111-2222 formats for email verification a long time ago.
1485  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BITCOIN MULTIPLIER SCAM on: August 02, 2018, 10:17:06 PM
Hello, I am a Novice and was recently scammed by someone I STUPIDLY befriended in a multiplying transaction from my wallet.  This is a STUPID question (Hence the choice in Username) but does anyone know if there is ANY recourse at all in recovering your funds?

All confirmed transactions are final, and generally irreversible, so unless you have personal details from them ( so you can sue/file a police report against them), the chance is very slim that you'll be able to recover your funds.

And even if you have a police report/case that leads to a conviction, i would say that it is still pretty questionable if you'll ever see your funds back.

1486  Other / Meta / Re: Mod, please check new plagiarism: Reporting copy/pasting, please permban on: August 02, 2018, 07:42:52 PM
I've found two accounts (one user probably) which i suspect of plagiarism, although i'm not entirely sure if this would count.

Their posts (1500+) are always redundant and offtopic too.

#1 Petloer

Lotosnetwork is trying to use blockchain to fix the problems in the world of Buddhist teachings. Their token is also called 'Karma' which is ERC20 based and then there is Pawtocol, a blockchain-based, member-owned pet care community who helps all pets around the world to live healthier and longer lives using artificial intelligence and technology. These looked like the weirdest and unusual projects of 2018.

This is beneficial for normalization of BTC. Hopefully, all the online shops will start adding BTC as a payment method in the future.

calling a potential customer a whiner for expressing concerns and confusion isn't exactly an attractive sales-pitch.

Excuse me mister, I bit you in err. I apologise.
I note your $5 bid and thank you very much for it. I will not sell for this amount though.

I don't think his question was what you wouldn't sell it for though  Roll Eyes.

1488  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Help! Friend accidentally sent 600USDT (Tether) to my LocalBitcoin wallet! on: August 02, 2018, 03:07:15 PM
The transaction is there, I checked on omniwallet and omniexplorer. I just need to get the private key from localbitcoins. How can I do that? I've already opened a ticket, will they give me the private key?

This thread belongs to "Service Discussion" forum or some other sub-forum.
Is it possible to send Tether to a localbitcoins wallet?I thought that localbitcoins don`t support tether trnasactions. They support only btc, ethereum, litecoin, ripple.
I can't see the problem here.If your friend sent you coins, why don`t you just send those coins back?

USDT has (partially) the same adresses as Bitcoin. Afaik all legacy bitcoin adresses are also valid USDT adresses.

Yep, long confirmed. I don't understand what is such a big problem for Localbitcoins to give me the private key to my own btc address ffs..

I can. There's multiple reasons.

1. They don't want to set a precedent. If they recover yours, they might have to recover dozens and dozens of other coins, which leads me to #2.
2. Their system probably doesn't show private keys to their employees, and thus this would mean that either someone really high up in LBC would need to recover your coins, (which is time-consuming, and thus costs a lot of $$$.), or they need to give lower level employees access to all of the customers private keys, which is pretty dangerous considering the privacy bitcoin offers. ( 1 rogue employee could completely destroy their business, and no one would ever know it was him if he were to properly use the blockchain ( Mixers etc.).)

(I'm not saying it's right what they're doing, but unfortunately it's the reality..)

Kineticex is the most advanced and best trading platform. Which guarantees you the highest service. Besides, its dynamic features that make it easy to add to your API. I think we all should use it.
Sockpuppet.

Kineticex is made by advanced technology. I think it is one of the best trading platform. Its service is better than other platform. it is more secure and reliable.
Sockpuppet.

To me, Binance is one of the strongest and best exchange platforms. It has also a mobile app with an easy interface. So far it makes the best use of cryptocurrencies and improving their apps day by day.
Someone who hasn't read the thread, obviously.

With features such PAMM and Margin trading Kineticex is easily the best trading platform. Currency exchange will be standard for all currencies for 0.5% markup. Kineticex dynamically designed APIs connected with EMA, will auto generates IBAN numbers for users. Having said that, Kineticex will be an outstanding blockchain payment solution to become a daily fundamental use.

So let me get this straight. You have a completely new exchange, but you expect users to pay 0.5% fees, on a site that is barely loading in, and that has mandatory KYC for any trading amount?

Ontop of that, you bought some kind of ANN bumping service, see the above posters. That's one way to completely lose all the credibility that you had left. ( How can i ever even trust you with my PD?)

Why would anyone use this over Binance? Could you give me just one reason?
1490  Other / Meta / Re: Is this forum bug? on: August 02, 2018, 09:29:08 AM
I'm guessing that this is done intentionally to reduce the load on the forums (Just like the User stats are disabled.)

I'm not sure how you were even able to search by rank/position, when i try this myself it simply returns this,

(Is this feature only available for Legendary+?)

Quote
My question is that isn't there any other way to search for all the members present for a single rank, as I think the number of pages is limited to 34 only.

I know that Vod has a lot of statistics about the forum on his site, https://bpip.org/.

I can't find what you want directly on his site (All Hero members/ Legendaries etc,) but you might be able to PM him, i'm pretty sure he has the kind of data you're looking for if you ask him nicely.
1491  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Blacklisted Exchanges -- leave your horror story here on: August 01, 2018, 05:53:35 PM
Poloniex -- suddenly holding everyone's funds and locking accounts? SCAM.

I'm not going to defend Poloniex here as I've never used it, but accounts being locked doesn't automatically mean it's a scam. Could just be bad fraud detection. Heard their customer support is crap though.

If only that were true I could *partially* understand why they did it, but no this is definitely not what happend.

They were going to implement/abide KYC laws ( I guess ), but explicitely promised NOT to lock withdrawals, even after the implementation of their KYC verification system. Next thing I know my account is completely locked, without any warning whatsoever.

My funds are (I presume) still stuck..

If they’re pulling things like this, what other shady stuff might they be doing?

Other users who experienced the exact same;

1492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Wallet problems on: July 31, 2018, 06:44:15 PM
That adress is probably the change (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Change) adress of the transaction that you made, but it’s kind of hard to say w/out actually seeing the adress. (Is it possible that you could post it here?)

Besides knowing if you still have your funds, What exactly do you still need help with? Did you succeed exporting your keys as bob suggested? (I guess not?)
1493  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Broadcasting a transaction from not fully synchronised Core wallet on: July 31, 2018, 01:29:57 PM
Hi guys,

is there a way to broadcast a transaction from a Core wallet that didn't synchronise in full? I tried sendrawtransaction debug console command but it would not broadcast a transaction, either. The wallet is not synchronised in full (it has been a second attempt to synchronize it, it stucks at one particular point, and as it takes more that a few weeks, I am not trying the third time)

Please, I am not interested in workarounds: I know that there are broadcast tx services out there. I cannot use them, because the coin we are talking about is a Bitcoin clone (and no such services exist, unfortunately) and the Core wallet is a Core clone, too, but it should not matter.

Thanks!
I very much doubt that it is possible if your wallet is an exact clone of Bitcoin core, but I could be wrong.

See https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/17432/my-wallet-hasnt-synchronized-can-i-make-a-transfer

If you have signed your transaction, maybe you could ask a friend or members of the coins’ community that do have a wallet that is connected to the network to broadcast your RAW txid?
1494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Wallet problems on: July 31, 2018, 11:44:56 AM
If you’re really worried that your balance is gone, check the/an adress which previously (or probably still in this case) was used to store your funds in a blockexplorer like https://BTC.com, and see if it’s still there.

The reason that you don’t see any balance on your other PC with the same wallet is probably because it hasn’t synced far enough yet (The wallet doesn’t yet know which UTXO belongs to you),or the data that IS available is corrupted, as you say yourself.

I’m not entirely sure what the issue could be here, but it probably won’t hurt to make a backup of your wallet.dat (the file that holds all the keys), and reinstall/resync core completely on your new/other computer (without moving all the other data, since there might be something wrong with it, corrupt etc as i said above)

Edit: I see you just mentioned your PC is pretty full. How full exactly? Without pruning you’ll need atleast 150GB for core to function correctly.

See https://bitcoin.org/en/bitcoin-core/features/requirements
1495  Other / Meta / Re: Thank You Bitcointalk ! on: July 29, 2018, 04:09:51 PM
Some aspects of this forum are really unique and can be very useful for some. The first that comes to my mind is the bounty. Especially the signature campaigns are quite useful for the members. It ensures that active and hard working members are rewarded something as well.

One suggestion to admin is that he should advertise the forum (as a revenue sharing platform) to get more active members on board.
Surely that won't increase the amount of spammers / scammers on the forum. Roll Eyes

It's funny how all of the things you listed that make the forum "great" ( for you atleast), are the reason it has become unbearable for so many others.

Also, "Revenue Sharing Platform" ~~ you literally want to change the forum into one big ponzi scheme? Uhhh, how about no?

(for those who don't know, this is your average "Revenue Sharing Platform", TrafficMonsoon )
1496  Other / Meta / Re: Appeal ban Sr. member on: July 27, 2018, 07:02:40 PM
He should be banned from this forum.

Because of his scam hosting service "K&T", lots of people lost their properties.

He just made excuses he also don't have access to other partner Kenny and never gonna do any responsible response.

I lost bunch of miners and still didn't get it back and no response from both Kenny and Tony.

An accusation isn't enough to go by.  If you want to get this guy banned you'll need to provide hard proof.  And this should be a new thread in the Accusations section.
Not really..

Even if you have hard evidence of him being a scammer, the forum itself doesn't really moderate/take action against scams, so he isn't going to get banned. ( But if there is actually a case with merit here the account could definitely be tagged by DT2+).

Also, tbonetony didn't use 1Ev1BeAC6PLc4dAASTLj4f8d3XVRbn2yCh to enroll in signature campaigns, but rather 1BqJH7aoZFUpBNQcg5kehVpPYwWLwKUwiF

See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1747399.msg17477013#msg17477013 (Although i'm not too sure if it matters, since the 1B adress is also not quoted anywhere AFAIAA.)

If we were to have an election would the results be considered?

An election how? By a simple strawpoll? Surely no one would cheat that way ./s..

Honestly, there really is no way to hold an election 100% fairly on this forum,  and even if it were possible, i don't really see the upside for it.

What's wrong with the current method of adding new moderators ( adding users who have helped the forum significantly already, by reporting etc..)
1499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recomended transaction fee on: July 27, 2018, 01:18:58 PM
Hello,
Is there any service where I can check recommended transaction fee in sat/byte for Bitcoin?
Maybe something like https://ethgasstation.info/ for Ethereum...

How many hours will last my transaction if I will set 1.1 sat/byte within 10 blocks in Electrum?

You mean something like this? https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/

Using this site's statistics & forecasts, a 1.1 sat/b transaction *would be* confirmed within 5 blocks. ( ~~1 hour), do note that this is just an expectation, and not really that reliable in some cases, since the site, and the mempool are updated rather frequently.

Just now the estimations of 1-2 sat/b transactions confirming went from 0-5 blocks to 0-10.

Most of your posts recently are simply abundance reports. It's a ton of spam and doesn't generally add anything to the discussion. I don't comprehend your Russian posts, however I'm speculating there's likely not a considerable measure of substance there either. Remedy me in case I'm wrong however. In the event that you did any duplicate glue (literary theft) that is undoubtedly the reason.

Anyway, your boycott resembles its lasting and you're not going to get a reaction to your email.

Coincidentally, you're avoiding your boycott by utilizing this new record to post in places other than meta, so you're likely going to get prohibited with this record also.

That gave me a laugh..

It's like you compiled 3 different posts in this topic into one and changed the vocabulary of all of them...
