2081  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitlaunch.io. Launch servers with your favourite crypto currency on: December 21, 2017, 05:08:36 PM
Hi All. Just popping in to mention the new service we have launched.

https://bitlaunch.io

Bitlaunch allows you to launch servers from well known hosts such as Digital Ocean and Vultr using your favourite crypto currency as payment.

If you have any questions please feel free to message us directly through our support chat box on the site.

We will also have an official twitter up soon.

This seems promising, i always wanted to buy some VPSES from digitalocean but the sign up forms of them, and the payment processing are a pain in the arse.

I'm going to try your service somewhere later this week, and i'll let you know how it went.

Some questions i do have:

Are you simply reselling them for the same price, if not, how much % extra do i pay compared to buying it with CC? Also, did you get permission to do this from Digitalocean et al?
2082  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What plans to deal with more and more unconfirmed transactions on: December 21, 2017, 04:32:45 PM

There are thousands of unconfirmed transactions lately.core team is there any plan?

There's already a number of solutions implemented, Segwit is an example. There's 3mb for witnesses in every block but they barely get used. Partly because noone really uses segwit adresses yet, which is a shame.

There's also plans to make a "Lightning network", which would greatly reduce the fees on small purchases and and would be great for companies like steam..

See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrr_zPmEiME for a good explanation about it.
2083  Other / Meta / Re: Please reply on: December 21, 2017, 04:07:09 PM
i see people posts their referral links here. how they do that?

Well, you can still post them, it's not hard coded into the forum that you can't post something with www.x/ref?/, but one report to the admins/moderators will be enough to get the post removed.

What is allowed though is putting ref links in your signature. Maybe that's what you're seeing?
2084  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Noob Seeking wisdom (and answers...) on: December 21, 2017, 03:53:11 PM
Hello Everyone.
This is my first post so I'm not sure if presentations are requested.

I'm starting to try to understand bitcoin.
So, I've set up a wallet and eveything but I still have a few questions I cannot find answers to :
1) Is there a way to choose my Personnal key (using some sort of algorithme from a pass phrase) ?
   - I get that if the passphrase is week, so will my "account".
2) People says that adresses are accounts, but also that each adress should only be used once. How is this working ?
3) Lastly, I'd like to try to understand how bitcoin transfers Work. But for that I need some Cheesy.
    - Any one would have even the smallest part of Bitcoin (Satochi if I'm not mistaken) to spare ?
    - Here is my adress : 1CUtoK6PNcyUjaCPxHTmMAPFP2FWxXNSFn
4) How does change work ?
    - I get that if you pay 1BT with an adress who has 2BT, then you get 2 transactions. 1 to send 1BT to the recipient, but then, you get another adress with the remaining 1BT ? But how do you get the private key of this adress ? As I seem to get : No privateKey, No Money !

Thanks for taking the time to answer all of my noob questions.

PS : Please also excuse my english, but this is not my native language.

Have a good day everyone.

1) If by personal key you mean private key / vanity adress, the answer is YES. by trying an insane amount of times you will eventually get lucky and get the chars you want.
Make sure you use the right tools and generate them offline. Don't use a website like vanitygen who says they'll generate it for you. It's a scam.

2) You can use adresses multiple times, however the public key becomes known after sending out a tx, and it hurts your privacy, ( and that of other bitcoin users).

3) That's begging. Please remove it.

4) the private key is/should be automatically generated by your wallet. (It still 1 transaction btw)
2085  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Suggest me a wallet on: December 21, 2017, 02:59:59 PM
Hello, I want wallet which will have exchange from LTC to BTC and I can change fee per byte for btc tx

I have LTC and I want to buy something via btc, so it will need days for normal btc transaction. Can you suggest me a wallet which I need?

I'm not so sure what you're asking here.

If you're looking for a place to exchange LTC to BTC use an exchange such as poloniex, GDAX, or bittrex.

If you're looking to store bitcoin, use Electrum.

If you're looking to store both bitcoin and Litecoin in 1 wallet, use something like Exodus, which supports multiple currencies.
2086  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Two wallets with the same address on: December 21, 2017, 02:49:09 PM
If you use coinBase, they generate an address (with unknown private-key) to receive crypto if you doesn't take care of reuse them
One user uses to have lots of "unknown" addresses

I think it is dangerous to have such a facility to create addrss

Same for minerGate

They don't create an adress without a known private key. They simply don't tell you what the private key is.. How would they otherwise transfer your funds out at the moment you want them to?

adress without a private key are burner adresses, and if you sent your coins there they will be lost forever. (Unless we research and develop quantum computing)

2087  Other / Meta / Re: Wait 360 seconds.... on: December 21, 2017, 02:08:30 PM
Every time I try to post it's saying I haven't waited 10 minutes (it's been almost 2 weeks since I posted I think!)

Just trying to post.... will delete if successful.

Do not be too fast in posting while you are still a newbie. There is a time delay, this is to avoid spammer. Bear with it, as you progress and ranks up, this will be not a problem anymore. Good luck.

Is there any time delay for jr. members and others?

I believe so, but it degrades the longer you are active on the forum, aka the more activity you have.

The following formula is used.

Quote
waittime = 360;
if(activity >= 15)
        waittime = (int)(90 - activity);
if(activity >= 60)
        waittime=(int)(34.7586 - (0.0793103 * activity));
if(activity >= 100)
        waittime = max((int)(14-(activity/50)), 4);

So yes, Jr member would still experience a delay when trying to post multiple messages, although this really shouldn't be too much of an issue. ( As i presume you're not going to make 4 posts every minute Roll Eyes)
2088  Other / Meta / Re: Add a "stuck transaction help" subforum? on: December 21, 2017, 01:17:43 PM
The Bitcoin Technical Support subforum is full of stuck transaction threads.
Wouldn't it be better to create a new subforum for stuck transactions, and leave Technical Support for software and hardware issues?

I made a topic about this myself aswell, but it didn't really gather any attention from staff. See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2616516.msg26621960#msg26621960

There's barely any technical discussion as you said. It's either newbies posting their tx id, or some half-assed question about wallets.

Or just open a thread in the Services.
A free service does not indicate that it is not part of that board.

What exactly do you mean? There's already tons of people in services offering free tx accelerations, and these newbies simply can't be asked to go there. It's not as simple as you state it. There's even multiple stickies in the technical support board about stuck transactions, but people simply can't be asked to read them.

While we're at it, i would also suggest to remove all the "Free tx accelerator services" from the service section and put them in the same subboard.
2089  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: which altcoin has the same algorithm with bitcoin on: December 20, 2017, 09:00:43 PM
any altcoin very similiar to bitcoin?
same algorithm and same pow
I think bitcoin does not use pos
So I can research the altcoin and try to compile the code
Thanks

There's actually multiple sites which lists alot of altcoins that are using the same algorithm as bitcoin (SHA256).

One of those sites is http://altcoins.com/

Quote
Altcoins using SHA-256, the same hashing algorithm as Bitcoin.

NMC – Namecoin
PPC – Peercoin
DVC – Devcoin
TRC – Terracoin
BTE – Bytecoin
IXC – Ixcoin
I0C – I0coin
FRC – Freicoin
XJO – Joulecoin
ZET – Zetacoin
ASC -AsicCoin
DEM – Deutsche eMark
UNO – Unobtanium
PT – Platinum Coin
BLC – Blakecoin
RKC – Reikicoin
TIT – Titcoin

Now there's probably way more unpopular altcoins out there using the same algorithm, but these are listed as the best known ones. (Although i myself find these pretty unpopular already aswell..  Roll Eyes)

My bitcointalk account(lilycese) and mail box were stolen recently. i once replied to a thread and left bitcoin address(1NidTiRRYtZcvrZa8nCdXwg4vwSYnWiaAG), but the thief had deleted the reply.

I sent a message with the bitcoin address signature according to the rules to theymos and Cyrus, but they did not respond me. who can help me, What should I do now

An admin will be able to see/restore the deleted post so don't worry about that, however you could be in for a wait. Best you can do is to just keep bumping your thread once a day and hope for the best.

Nothing. If you sent the signed message in the correct layout to Cyrus/Theymos, you should simply wait. It could take days up to months for your account to be recovered, due to how busy theymos/cyrus are.

You could maybe PM hilariousandco, and he might be able to contact theymos for you, but i doubt it.

thank for your responses.
btw, is this signature right?

Here is the unedited post where I posted that address:....

Quite weird, your signature is deemed valid on https://tools.bitcoin.com/verify-message/, but the exact same thing gives me an error on http://www.coinig.com.

However i just reverified it in my electrum wallet and it also states that is is VALID. So if that indeed is from the adress you posted, you should be fine.

2091  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Seeking Miner for RBF or CPFP on 2 BTC transactions on: December 20, 2017, 07:33:35 PM
AdolfinWolf: I have little to no idea what they are. Just did some research on stuck transactions. I have 2 BTC transfers that are stuck with I guess low fees and an unconfirmed parent. I'm looking for someone who can verify my transactions immediately for a compensation of $100. I'm just trying to get my funds before Christmas. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

If you're willing to pay 100$ to verify your transaction, you could consider using a paid accelerator (although i deem them a waste of money), See https://pushtx.btc.com/ for example.

Price of accelerating is probably highly depending on the amount of bytes your transaction is. This is probably, (next to waiting), the only option you have, as i don't think hitbtc supports the sending of CPFP/RBF transactions?
2092  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Seeking Miner for RBF or CPFP on 2 BTC transactions on: December 20, 2017, 06:13:30 PM
Seeking Miner for RBF or CPFP on 2 BTC transactions. $100 USD offer. Please post if interested.

Do you even know what a replace-by-fee or Child-Pays-For-Parent transaction is?

Miners have (other then confirming them) nothing to do with them. You yourself should broadcast them, not the miners.

What exactly are you offering 100$$ for?

2094  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What is bitcoin Lock time? on: December 20, 2017, 04:09:05 PM
Hi there,

I'm curious as to what lock time means? Also you can see from my transaction as listed below, it has a lock time, and a mining block. However i'm not sure what this means, as its been unconfirmed for over a day.

https://blockchain.info/tx/7cf0883a4a24664a1c77fdd465782f0d7c962b7942daa4408f3083ea659aef6a

Thanks in advance to any explanations
Lock time basically means that that is the first moment it could possibly be added into the blockchain.

It basically cannot be accepted by miners before that block is reached.

Which in your case is block 500114, that block has passed a long time ago, so your transaction should now be able to confirm.

Oooh, i see, that clarifies the whole situation, thanks so much! However, it has a relatively low transaction fee of 200 satoshis per byte, so no miner has picked it up yet right? Do you think it would get picked up within the next day or so?

200 is indeed quite low. The current average fee is around 600 i believe?

Using this website, https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/, it's telling me that your transaction should indeed confirm within half a day, but with the current state of the mempool, i don't think that's accurate anymore.

You might get lucky, and it will be confirmed, otherwise you will either need to wait, accelerate, or do a CPFP / RBF transaction.

2096  Other / Meta / Rename Bitcoin Technical Support to Bitcoin Services 2.0.. on: December 19, 2017, 07:50:59 PM
Seriously.

The entire Bitcoin Technical support section is currently filled up with nothing but people asking to accelerate their transaction. (Just like the top 10 posts in the services section are "Free tx acceleration threads"  Roll Eyes)

There's barely any technical discussion anymore. Was this intended or not?

Only 3/4 *posts out of the 20 most recent posts were not directly related to transactions not being confirmed..

Why not create something like a subboard in technical support for these transaction confirmation requests?
2097  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Passwords on: December 19, 2017, 07:42:08 PM
What’s the best & secured way to store passwords of crypto wallets and exchange sites?  Huh

I'd say in your head is probably the most secured option you have.

If that isn't an option for you, you can either choose to store them virtually, in an encrypted keychain ( simply google it), or offline, ( by writing them down), which again makes it pretty vulnerable against burglars. (Unless you put the paper in a safe ofcourse.)

I also don't really see why this would be any different then the storing of normal passwords?
2098  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Please Help!! I sent BTC from Coinbase shows confirmed and it never showed up. on: December 19, 2017, 05:41:10 PM
Thanks for the replies..

Yes i sent it from Coinbase to my address given to me by a new ICO lending platform. I made a previous transaction with them and my BTC showed up in my wallet no problem.

The previous transaction did something similar. But I also purchased some of their coins in ICO... Im starting to think they got me on this one. Just glad it wasnt much.

I'm pretty confident that the problem is on their side then, and not yours.

You could try to contact their support and see if they're willing to resolve it? (Which they definitely will if they are somewhat real/legit)
If you don't mind me asking, what ICO are we talking about? Could you maybe give a name/link? If its a scam, it would be nice to know for other users aswell.
2099  Other / Meta / Re: Forum running very slowly today on: December 19, 2017, 04:20:06 PM
Even to the point that it times out. Why tho? I thought steps were put in place to combat this. Is this going to be an ongoing issue here

Is that the reason you made 6 other posts about exactly this?

And yes, i'm experiencing this aswell. It has been extremely slow for several days, but it seems like i am the only one having issues. They already disabled user statistics, added cloudflare, but nothing really seems to help.

2100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Please Help!! I sent BTC from Coinbase shows confirmed and it never showed up. on: December 19, 2017, 03:44:45 PM
I was sending from Coinbase to this address  1EPRx7WyB3xVxaJ7YCHjLs7mx6g2mscHFj

tx 69969df37395ae328e8bab5bf4e6fdc0e6e07268e193b3bb652791ba083398a0

when i click on the address I sent it to this transaction is there that I did not do.. does this mean my BTC was stolen? was I scammed?

tx fd6cbffede98023de506a9511d6359997b20d1edcb22787f987cfafcc3b6f739

If you did not make/authorize that transaction, and you have no idea who did, then your bitcoins might indeed be stolen, and lost.

Your adress 1EPRx7WyB3xVxaJ7YCHjLs7mx6g2mscHFj doesn't seem to be an online wallet/exchange, but neither is the adress that it got sent to. 1NZE8suKFpuxMbUNfBpxpTJXsWTu2AHp4z

What wallet did you sent your bitcoins to? You sent FROM coinbase right?
