1102  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why is bitcoin not anonymous? on: June 02, 2020, 10:33:23 PM
Bitcoin is not anonymous so not to allow hackers hack your coins and get away with them through exchanges by dumping those coins on innocent people's money.
And how exactly are hackers not hacking peoples' coins and then dumping them?
1103  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: June 02, 2020, 09:24:11 PM
I can see balance on all of my addresses. Now I have only 3 addy with balances, and I can see the current balance on each individually. I can't go on other addresses like Litecoin, Doge or something without the connected device, but for sure it works for BTC if the last one was "saved" before wallet physically disconnected.
And where do you see it exactly? I can see the list of all used addresses, with the total received on each; but not the current balance on each (and change addresses are not shown)

I have the device unpluged for paranoid issues
1104  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: June 02, 2020, 09:14:30 PM
What's wrong with https://wallet.trezor.io/ (If I understand correctly your doubt)
I use the option "remembering device" and I can see balances on my addresses, even without the connected wallet on PC.
But it displays the balance of the wallet, not the one of addresses....
This whole thing started when I sent a tx, the part I din't use was sent to a change address, but I could not see in my "receive" tab. I could later verify that the address did infact belong to me in Electrum; but the little heart attack I had when I saw the tx with one output I did not recognize was rather huge
1105  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: June 02, 2020, 07:14:24 PM
I have a small doubt...

Is there a way to see the individual balances of each used address without using Electrum? This applies to used change addresses too

I guess the answer is no; but may it's just that I haven't found the option. And, in case it's not available... is this a feature that will be coming with Trezor Suite?

Kind regards
1106  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Trx Fee on: June 02, 2020, 06:59:44 PM
Since this thread is in the Electrum board; I'd like to point out that in the event of using Electrum with 2FA, you do pay a fee to TrustedCoin. The charge the following fees, depending on what you choose:

Pay every 20 transactions:   0.00005 BTC/tx        0.001 BTC total
Pay every 100 transactions:   0.000025 BTC/tx        0.0025 BTC total

Other than that, the only fee that you pay goes to miners (in Electrum)
1107  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why is bitcoin not anonymous? on: June 01, 2020, 10:59:48 PM
Nevertheless, the exchange (third party) will know who owns the purchased bitcoins if the identification procedure has been passed.
So this data can fall into the wrong hands by selling data by the exchange or hacking it by hackers, for example.
Others, we are to some extent dependent on third parties, which is not acceptable in cryptocurrency, in my opinion.
The solution to that is really simple: Don't use exchanges.

You can still buy and sell bitcoin to people in your city or use ATMs (2 first things that come to mind). Privacy totally depends on the user; it's easier to trust a third party to manage most of our operations; but at what cost? Google stores our password if we allow it, and then fills the user and password fields automatically. It's fast and convenient; but at what cost?

I'm aware the situations are not 100% identical, but I don't think it's a bad comparison
1108  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why is bitcoin not anonymous? on: June 01, 2020, 10:47:59 PM
There was no point of making the blockchain and all the transactions in it public
Then how could you keep a record that every user has to check to know the balance of their own addresses? Maybe it's possible, but I can't think of a way to make something private in a decentralized network.

You can't be anonymous if using are using centralized exchanges which request for your documents for verification of KYC to buy and sell bitcoin.
Luckily, there are many more (and anonymous) ways of buying bitcoin. Exchanges are just a service; same than youtube, netflix or a bank. They are not something that comes with the network per se

Just a tip: if you open the file with notepad++ instead of default windows notepad; you'll see 1 word per line.

It's kinda easier to read and edit that way

It's free bitcoin for everyone, why is it unfair? Just avoid the abuse, it is okay.
Anyone using a bot to claim the hourly free BTC is abusing the site; and that's the reason it's unfair for the rest of the users.

Take freedoge.co.in as an example; same owners, "same" project, but different crypto. "A few" users started using bots to claim on the site; and as a consequence, the minimum reward was drastically reduced (that's how it's unfair for legit users), and eventually the faucet was disabled.

An average person can make between 8 and 16 claims every day if they have enough time; 340 satoshi/day if all 16 hit minimum reward. There will be some days in which you can claim more, others less; so it's pretty close to imposible to roll 16 times a day for a whole month (340*30=10200 satoshi). Now, if a user is using a bot to claim 24/7; (21*24*30=15120 satoshi). Faucet bots are getting 150% of what a person having tons of time could get every month. With current BTC price, this may not seem a problem at all (after all, 5k satoshi isn't that much), but some years ago; when you could get 600 satoshi/hour; things change a lot. Not only that; every roll gets lottery tickets and reward points; and the referer gets a 50% of every roll, with daily interests paid if the ammount is higher than 30k satoshi (+ ref comission).

Faucet abusing is not really about the number of satoshis they can claim; but about the damage they do create indirectly.

Dice bots, on the other hand, are allowed.

I'd go for reporting in the malware report thread; and then report the post adding a link to your post in the thread while posting nothing to avoid getting it bumped

One day the interest rates will return to 10% I can remember them being there in the past
Can you remember when in the past did this happen? I remember it being at 4.08% annualy since the interest system was implemented and I'm pretty sure it hasn't changed ever since
1113  Other / Meta / Re: [SUGGESTION] Make ignore show post bigger on: May 29, 2020, 12:31:59 AM
Well, I have the same issue even if it's dragged you can only see a slight view of the text. How about the feature shouldn't be there if you already have ignored the user?
You may have to read, or want to read, a specific post of that user for whatever reasons you may have. Someone may be stupid and a troll, but they may be right in some very specific cases. Deleting the show feature not the right step to take if you ask me. Making that current feature work in "any" major browser would be more appropriate.

First of all, sorry if my post will be formatted not very well because I'm on mobile.
No worries, we've all been there.

About reporting such posts, I know what I'm talking about from my personal and other users experience. I don't talk about one liners and similar shitpsts. I'm more about generic posts which you can see in Bitcoin discussion, Speculation or Gambling boards. Usually it's few generic sentences which are related to topic. But in many cases they repeat what was said already or they are talking without much knowledge about subject. Try to report such posts and you will see that mods won't delete it.
I do report those posts, and they do usually get deleted. Even if it's a bit on topic, it's a low value post that adds pretty much 0 to the discussion, and as such I consider them to be spam. Those generic posts have only value to the user making them, and if the post itself was not monetized, that post wouldn't have been made in first place. Putting it in another way... if the post is there because the user is getting paid for it, and otherwise it wouldn't exist-->spam post

Quote
Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see big difference between get paid because you post and post because you get paid, it's more just playing with words. As long as we have signature campaigns, people will be incentivized to post. But it's not always bad and it don't cause just spamming. Signature campaigns also is reason of quality posting, best example of it is Chipmixer.
On the first case (posting and getting paid for it), you don't alter your posting habits because of the payments. You post what you post on the boards you enjoy, and would do it getting paid or not.
On the second case (getting paid for posting), you only post because of the payment. You post in places you wouldn't if you didn't get paid for doing so, and most of those replies are generic answers that don't really add much to the conversation.

We could argue that signature campaigns make some users do an effort and improve their posting, but that's not what happens in most of the cases. The CM is the perfect example of what I mean with "users posting and getting paid". Most of the selected users did already contribute in a substantial way to the forum; and most of them will still do it even if they didn't get paid for each post they made. It's not that they are good posters because they are in the campaign; but they are in the campaign because they are good posters.

And I'm not sure how you can judge my mentality just from few sentences...
That why I said I wasn't doing that

---
Generic posts are usually very easy to spot; just reporting them and adding some kind of "low value signature spam post" will get the job done in most of the cases
1115  Other / Meta / Re: [TelegramBot] Merit watcher and Mention Notification Bot on: May 28, 2020, 06:23:20 PM
Not sure why, but I've gotten 2 duplicated notifications on merit today. First one was 1 merit from 1 user in one thread; and hours later (now), 1 person 1 merit on the same thread.
1116  Other / Meta / Re: [SUGGESTION] Make ignore show post bigger on: May 28, 2020, 01:34:04 PM
What browser are you using? It shows perfectly fine for me - expanded to full size of the post - in FireFox.
Despicable Chrome, both on phone and laptop

It shows the same on both, but phone is a bit easier to scroll because of user sensbility
1117  Other / Meta / [SUGGESTION] Make ignore show post bigger on: May 28, 2020, 12:10:36 PM
I'm not 100% sure the title is self explaining, so here comes the explanation....

I'd bet that most users are aware that even if you ignore a certain user; you can still see a specific post from that user if you c,lick the "Show/Hide button"

Why would someone want to read a post from an ignored user? Well, there are plenty of reasons; and that's not the main topic here, so I'll leave it up to each user to make some thinking and have the answer to this.

Now, what's the problem (I see) with that button? See screenshot bellow.....

If the text of that post is short enough, it can fit inside the box; but when it has more than a couple of lines of text.... it's unreadable.

So my suggestion is to make that text box bigger. It doesn't have to be the whole post size; but at least something more readable....

The only workaround I know for this is unignoring the user, reading the post, and then ignoring back; and it's kind of tedious to do on small screens from phones (and it recharges the whole site, which consumes data). Let me know if there's another one please.
1118  Local / Primeros pasos y ayuda / Re: Deseo cambiar mi nickname en BT on: May 28, 2020, 11:11:35 AM

1119  Other / Meta / Re: I am sick of this... on: May 28, 2020, 10:59:16 AM
You can report these, if they get deleted (they often do), they can't get paid for that post.
I think such posts usually isn't bad enough to be deleted. It doesn't break. any rules, it's not off-topic. It's just generic post made just to reach sig. campaign weekly posting quota.
That my friend, is called spam and it does go against the forum rules.

Quote from: forum rules
1. No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads. [1][e]

I was actually going to let this one fo, but then I re-read your whole post, and your first statement.... maybe saying that's everything that's wrong in the forum is over-stepping; but I think it's not really far away from it.
Quote
1. What do you expect when we have signature campaigns? Some people obviously came here just for money and it's nothing strange that they are posting as much as they can to maximize their earnings.
You get paid because you post; you don't post because you get paid. The line between these 2 sentences might seem blurry, but it's really clear most times. The first one is, in prinicple, okay; but the second one leads to spam (as you have pointed out in the above statement). I'm quite surprised to see that mentality in an account as old as yours; because it's the typical incentive of "how do I earn merits?" questions from newbies that have come here only to earn money from Bounties, but every person has it's own circunstances, and I'm not judging that.
