I cant install electrum on my computer but i saw that it was on blockchain.com

If the wallet you made the deposit from was from blockchain.com, you have to head to the security center, and retrieve your 12 word nmemonic phrase if you don't already have it. Then, download and verify Electrum, and when creating a new wallet select "standar wallet", and then the "I already have a seed" option. Click the "options" button, and the "BIP39" seed option. Finally, select "Legacy" account type.

Once the wallet is restored, head to Tools-Sign/Verify; and select the address you want to sign the message from, write the the TheQuin will ask you to use as a message, and click "Sign". Then share the signature with TheQuinn so that he can verify it.
1222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 0.50 BTC reward for a valid password. on: May 11, 2020, 11:32:09 PM
Is the wallet truly yours, or did you buy it in a website to try to crack it?

If it's the latter, then it's almost impossible to crack it open, as many people are already on it, and you see the results they are having....

If the wallet is truly yours, and you know the lenght and "some" of the characters used, then there's a chance of cracking it

My wallet is not bought. That's why I'm trying to access coins.

Well, well, well... how the tables have turned....

I don't think the accounts recovery team will accept a signature from the stated address because it was posted right before the account was hacked again.
Actually, checking the time stamps, it was staked right after the account was recovered

Password reset: 12/6/2019 3:14:28 PM   password reset via email
First "account recovered post": December 06, 2019, 17:17:44
Address staked: December 06, 2019, 17:34:05

So unless the hacker was able to access the account in those 2 hours (which I must admit, seems feasible judging by the record), the address should be good. The next hack claim was made almost 2 months later.
1224  Other / Meta / Re: sardasa account hacked yesterday on: May 11, 2020, 09:13:10 PM
Are these users still active on the forum? Would their vouches be considered good enough to unblock my account?
If you can sign a message from this address, you will be good to go with the recovery.

Staking my new address as this quoted address belongs to Lykke exchange and can't be used anymore.

I'll check your post history to see if there is any other staked address in there

Glad to see @Csmiami notice "the office" references.
I was really surpised by :

a)the amount of people taking this seriously
b)the amount of people that did get the references

Looks like you are not getting promoted to assistant regional manager anytime soon...

Maybe he will admin a new forum for the campaign. Worked for cryptotalk Roll Eyes
Or, we could also rebrand the reputation board to Drama Center, and have a child board for every conflict topic (DT, CM, Merit....) just saying.

I'm missing something kinda basic and important on the reccomendations: The Bitcoin Whitepaper

Before doing anything with Bitcoin, you should know and understand what Bitcoin really is.

Oh, no!  I did not know that DarkStar_ is so evil.  He even looks suspiciously feloid.  Why do you suppose that Laura is defending him!?
Because we all know that Zorro had many lovers; you can see some rare footage of Laura and him here.

He is of course using the hat to hide his pointy pikachu ears from the good humans he is attacking

Blasphemy. I have it on good authority that he (it?) is a dark star.
You should be checking your records; AFAIK, legend says he is a Zorro impersonating Pikachu

Yeah, I believe Steamtyme's OP was facetious.
Either that, or he is planning on buying a beet farm and have an affair with a senator's wife; who knows
1231  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Problem with my Blockchain on: May 11, 2020, 02:06:53 PM
Either you had some malware/keylogger on your computer, or you used a phising website.

Have you donwloaded anything trough torrent, or any source that may not be safe recently? Did you bookmark the blockchain.com domain?

I see that you've moved the few bucks that you had left back to the same address have also been stolen and are on the way to the hacker's address now...

Next time, you should take some considerations before handling bitcoin funds:

-Use non-custodial wallets. Be the only one in control of your funds; use Electrum for example. It's a lightweight Bitcoin client, that supports 2FA and hardware wallets.
-Buy a hardware wallet. It's one of the safest methods of storing Bitcoin.
1232  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Problem with my Blockchain on: May 11, 2020, 01:48:54 PM
What happens when you click on the i circle next to the Change address? You may have been hacked, but it's really bugging that your funds went to a change address.

What process did you follow to back up the wallet? Did you restore it with the seed?

It may be a long shot, but maybe when you recovered it, it swept the funds into a new wallet on your new email address. Explain the process you followed before we proceed any further, please

Edit: I have check the address you coins went to, and it has received a total of 2.2BTC starting on 2017. You were definately hacked and you can't recover the funds; sorry for your loss.

Nevertheless, you can tell us how you proceeded with the recovery, so that we can know what went wrong
1233  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Privacy setup on: May 11, 2020, 01:34:01 PM
What you say is a bit ambiguous. You say that students may have to record themselves during the test then you say you'll stop the mic and webcam.
The test may happen as a conference so the teacher can keep an eye on you real time. If so you'll need the webcam and mic and also ToR may get out of question for making the things too slow.
I know in my country, universities are switching to oral exams over the webcam, open book exams, and physical exams with respect to social distancing rules.
Luckily, I already know how the exams are going to be. Some will be multiple choice tests, and others are going to be developing exams that later on have to be scanned and sent. In both cases, there is no real need for such a strict control, and if someone is going to cheat, there's really nothing stopping them from doing so. Getting not very creative, any pdf file can be searched so it'd be pretty easy to use them. Apart from that, it's well known that these exams are not meant to evaluate our knowledge, but to evaluate our memory.... Roll Eyes

About distro, since you'll use a VM and will not "touch" your main data (that's smth you set from VM, not the OS inside VM), you can consider that VM disposable and it doesn't matter how much privacy-oriented will it be, it doesn't matter.
Make sure the VM OS will have installed everything you need!!

So the data from the computer should be safe.
The content of your room may be somewhat visible, I recommend you change the position of your office so your back will be next to a wall.
The IP however I don't know how you can hide without losing speed.
The whole point of using the VM is to not give it the webcam hardware; in case they make me install some extension that will search for it. You can't use something that you don't have. I'm not really concerned about loosing browsing speed, and it could be benefitial if the get too stupid with the whole streaming thing. A public university should not assume that people have high-end internet data available at home (and many other things), but that's another whole topic.

This one is pretty tricky... Do you want to risk not getting credits because you don't want to give a virtual tour, or because you decide to run inside a sandbox, or use tor?

I realize that, as a human, you have the right to privacy... But i'm not confident a university will give you credits if they have the slightest idear you might have cheated. Eventough i graduated ages ago, i still think i'd put my grades before my privacy and "sell out", comply with their demands and just get it over with.
it's not really about risking getting evaluated, the things I've seen here during the years I've been in this university would amaze many people. I've seen people's mark rise from a 2.3 to a 6 after scanning a 600 page book to pdf; and that's one of the least atrocities I've witnessed.

I understand that the university wants to ensure what the call "quality", but it's really annoyin that they are getting all worked up and worried about it now, when they don't give a shit during normal conditions. Yes, I agree that some sort of control is required, but the range of that control is just too wide. Another university that is close to mine, is making students do the room-tour, and then place the phone in a strategic place that will let stream the whole "working area", while at the same time, they have to get a webcam on with a screen recorder, it's pretty crazy.

My goal is to comply with the rules that are set for the evaluation, but not giving them more than the bare minimum requiriments. There are some lines that cannot be crossed, and even if some teachers tend to forget it, students have some rights too. Privacy is one of them, and I'll fight to protect it.
1234  Other / Serious discussion / Privacy setup on: May 11, 2020, 12:22:19 PM
Since the lockdown situation, university life has changed quite drastically. Now that the exam/evaluation weeks are getting closer, and it's pretty clear that we are going to be doing the exams online, universities are developing what they call "anti-cheating guidelines". This guidelines are far from being useful, and they are a direct attack to each student's privacy. I'll quote some of those; they change depending on the university and the teacher, but most of them go against user privacy:

  • Students will have to keep a video recording device on during the test, and every move will be recorded and stored
  • Students will have to keep an open mic during the duration of the exam, and everything will be recorded and stored

Other guidelines I've read include a virtual tour to of the room in which the exam will be made, not having a second monitor plugged in, installing browser extensions that will keep track of every move, network traffic, clipboard etc...

As I value my privacy, and I'm pretty angry with how the university has handled the whole situation (absent teachers, endless essays and projects...), I'm thinking about protecting my privacy installing by installing a sandbox inside the computer. For that I would:

-Install a Vitual Machine and set the parameters (no webcam, no mic, no hdmi ports....)
-Run some Linux distro, privacy focused if it was possible (I need some help choosing that)
-Run TOR at safest during the duration of the test

It's a fact that the university can not force me to buy some hardware only for an exam, so I'm pretty confident about not giving a virtual tour of my room to the whole class.

Anyway, some ideas on this setup will be welcomed

What software were you using on the account that made the deposit?

Was it blokchain.com, an exchange, electrum....?

If it was blockchain, you have to retrieve the seed and restore it into electrum to sign a message.
If it was electrum, you can sign directly from there.
If it was an exchange address, you cannot sign any message, because the address is not yours.

1239  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.com (app) wallet funds transfer on: May 11, 2020, 09:19:06 AM
Just a small correction, blockchain.com now supports native SegWit for send-out transactions.
OMG, when did they implement that? That's the first transaction I know of... good to know that after a couple years they finally support that; now it's only a matter of time before some exchanges do also support them (unless I'm mistaken and blockchain did support those and I mixed it with the exchanges)

Edit:

Saw this thread the other day, looks like not many people know that native segwit is now supported, so it must be something really new....

Merit has nothing to do with being in a bounty campaign or not; it's all about quality posting. Being a quality poster, and participating in a campaign is not incompatible; but as a general rule, ALTCOIN bounty hunters don't care about anything that is not realted to payday, and thus, don't create quality content.

You have to know your priorities; forum over payday, or payday over forum?

The first group will contribute to the forum even if they are not getting paid to do so; and because of that, they tend to be "good users", there are exceptions of course.
The second group will not contribute if they are not getting paid, or will contribute a lot less if they not getting paid. That leads to them being "bad users", with some few exceptions.

Of course the terms "good" and "bad" are very subjective.
