1063  Other / Meta / Re: Voting for important forum changes on: October 22, 2020, 11:34:15 AM
No it's not.
Forum is a Public open place

This is a common misconception I recall even theymos clearing up, but I don't have the time to search for that post right now, so I'll try to make a simple explanation to it.

The forum can be seen publicly without an account, BUT the moment you register into the forum by creating an account, you agree to the terms of said forum. The forum is private, as it is OWNED by an individual, but anyone can create an account without any real requirement. To make a comparison with the real world... we are members of a swim club; anyone living in the city can join for free, but the facilities have some rules that if you don't follow, the team will kick you out. You are allowed to use everything, but it's not public

Voting would be just that - Vote from community and not mandatory change. Moderators and big boss would still have a final say like always.
But maybe you prefer to have no voice, and I can respect that.

You are contradicting yourself. You suggest we get a vote on the forum changes but then are OK with the management completely ignoring that voting. For that, we can use the current system in place; which is basically leaving feedback on an already created thread or creating one for a matter that has not been discussed, and once the management reads it, they can decide to ignore it or not. It's better than voting because you can discuss everything in a post; and as I said before, it's the system we already have in place

Title say Voting for  IMPORTANT forum changes.
I would not waste time voting on trivial things, and again - Voting would be just that - Vote from community and not mandatory change. Moderators and big boss would still have a final say like always.

And who (and how) would decide what is important and what it's not?
1064  Other / Meta / Re: Voting for important forum changes on: October 22, 2020, 10:12:00 AM
The idea itself is not bad, but there are a couple of issues with that.

The forum is a private space, with some rules that are applied to all users, with no exception. Everyone must follow forum rules, or else they get the boot. If we were to start voting on every ban/unban than happens, what criteria would voting users follow? Their own personal experience with said users? That doesn't seem imparcial at all.

Apart from that; how would you keep trolls or disposable accounts created by the person that got banned with the sole porpuse of voting to unban them away? You could have some kind of requirements, but would once again be something that excludes a certain sector of forum users.

And if those were not reason enough, the drama wars would get more bullets. I've been away from the forum for some months, and I still don't know how things are at the moment, but if we take the past as a precedent, we can get an idea of what will most likely happen. User A from a "gang" will vote something, so someone from a "rival gang" will vote against it, so then more users from As' gang will vote.... It's a neverending tale.

Summing up... The current system, altough improvable, is quite good. You either follow the rules or don't join, and theymos is our absolute ruler. If someone considers that a ban is not reasonable, they can always create a ban appeal thread, and the discussion coming from there will be the closest to a "voting" we have, altough the last word comes from a mod or admin. End of story

----

Hmmmm yeah, seem that it's working that way; quite odd that the paths have changed out of the blue. I tried copy pasting, but unfortunately it hasn't worked, so I guess that a ticket/feedback commentary to the development team would be appropriate?

Thanks for the fast reply btw
1066  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: October 21, 2020, 09:07:59 PM
I've just installed and tried the Beta client after some time not using the device, and even if I must admit that it's an amazing tool and makes the interface a lot more user friendly, I've "lost" all the tags/labels I had on the web client. I haven't really lost them, but they haven't synced even if I had the same dropbox account connected... Has this been addressed before and I don't seem to find it, or is it just me having trouble with my computer?
1067  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of trusted/recommended Translators on: October 21, 2020, 07:16:42 PM
It still amazes me that after so many months, I'm the only Spanish translator on this list... Anyway, just coming back to the forum to say thank you for the job you put in getting people from different languages together. I can also say that it's been amazing to work with you on the different projects we've shared, fast and straight communication, and faster payments!
1068  Other / Meta / Re: [TELEGRAM] Yet Another BitcoinTalk Notification BOT (merits, mentions, topics,+) on: September 19, 2020, 10:32:31 AM
I just made those changes. There was no "alternative username" feature in V2 until now.

Ah! that makes more sense... I've been kinda away from the forum but following up on mentions, and this anomally had kinda worried me. Good to know the bot is still getting updated
1069  Other / Meta / Re: [TELEGRAM] Yet Another BitcoinTalk Notification BOT (merits, mentions, topics,+) on: September 19, 2020, 10:28:21 AM
---For some reason, instead of just not passing anything to the check (null value), it literally passed null and without any other rule, so it matched for the post everyone got notified about because it contained nullius on it. --

But shouldn't this have happened sooner? Kind of like the first time that username was mentioned

Fixed! (I think....) Thanks Lafu for the mention, I'm not logging in much to the forum these days, and I wouldn't have seen this otherwise

I'm in Code 26 hell right now and can't send anything out of my wallet.

Can you provide any more information apart from that? I don't really think people know what Code 26 stands for, so please, provide a detailed explanation of whatever error you are experiencing, and we may come out wjith some solution to it
1077  Other / Meta / Re: List of the forum's admins/ global moderators/ staffs on: June 24, 2020, 09:23:24 PM
Not really sure about what happened and the exact dates, but franckuestein is no longer a part os the staff (inactivity IIRC). Welsh has taken over the Spanish moderation ever since

I have also verified from electrum. The signature poster is not responding here so, we cant understand the reality. But As signature is verified and message is verified how those could be wrong? I think there is something wrong with the wallet ID.
The comparison might not be the best; but I'll try it anyway.

The website calculates the signature and the message, and produces an address, if they match, the signature is verified; if it doesn't, then it can't verify the signature. In the event of you not providing an address for said message, the website will show you what is has calculated.

In simpler terms (comparison): You use a website to verify that the result you have on the square root of 4. the website calculates the sqrt of 4, and if you input the value of 2; it will verify it. If you input (for example) 7, it will fail to verify. And if you leave it blank, it will show the right answer, in this case, 2.

But there is more than 1 correct answer to this! In the example I provided, both 2 and -2 are the right answer, and not only 2. The example website, only displays positive value numbers (+2), and doesn't work with negatives (-2). The website you've used to verify the signature works similarly; it does support Legacy addresses (1....) but doesn't support Segwit addresses (bc.../3...).

That's why it will always show a result for whatever signature+message you input, and it will always be shown as a Legacy address
