LOL.. if this is the case, then Delhi should not be hosting any matches at all. The AQI there is much worse than what they have in Lahore. The stubble burning season is in full swing and the air in northern parts of India and Pakistan can be described as "hazardous" if not outright toxic. Ideally no foreign teams should be visiting this region until the air quality improves. PCB did the right thing by moving the matches to coastal city. I guess they have a cricket stadium in Gwadar as well, which is very scenic.

There is no comparison of PCB and BCCI. There are very few boards that are willing to play in Pakistan while there is hardly any board that can say no to BCCI. The reason is obvious, nobody wanna lose IPL contracts. For every player Foreign or local, money is supreme thing. Thats why whole world plays IPL in India in April this year despite peak of covid19.

I agree with galambo. Usually I post here, when I need to debate on the ICC funding, associate member status, player issues.etc. These are not specific to any one format of cricket, and therefore I guess this one is the most suitable thread. Anyway, it is manageable. Look at this sub-forum. You can find dozens of threads each for football and boxing. So I don't think that there is anything wrong in having an additional thread for general discussion. Also, I guess this is the oldest thread related to cricket in this forum.

Glad moderator hasn't locked this thread yet. There are more votes in favour of this thread vs against. There is thread for every football league but for all cricket leagues we have one thread here. All other thread are occupied with cricket matches discussion, let this be for general discussion.

I came up with the idea to lock this thread but seeing people wanted to keep this thread open is perfectly fine too provided we keep this thread as active as the other three format-specific threads. I noticed that after a few posts, no one discuss here and after weeks, someone again bumps this thread for a brief discussion and then it again goes into hibernation.

That is so very true that teams like NZ, AUS, ENG will keep on playing in India despite of smog, covid, or terrorism in India. The reason is that money is above all those things and humans do not care about their health but they care only about money making opportunities.

I am not going to deny that. BCCI is literally dominating the cricket administration at this point, similar to a level where the US is dominating baseball/basketball with MBL/NBA. And I don't really think that the situation is going to change anytime soon, given the fact that it is the Indian diaspora which is dominating the cricket boards even in other countries like the United States and Canada. Increasing number of Indian origin players are getting included in teams like New Zealand and England as well.

India control will further tightened as bcci is planning to increase ipl operations by including few more team's. Cricket is a game that is played in very few countries, if cricket gets its central control in India rather then in hands of icc then as a game it won't progress. Not to forget ipl is ban for people that are not liked by bcci.

If Dalmiya had his way, then cricket would have been an Olympic sports by 2012, or latest by 2016. The cartel sabotaged it, and now the earliest date possible is 2032. Meanwhile, other sports have gone ahead with their own globalization programs, and as a result minor sports like Rugby, Kabaddi and Baseball are now played in more countries when compared to cricket (numbers for cricket are inflated, as most of the teams are completely made up of foreigners).

Yes its the fact that cricket is not played widely across the world. Frankly at the moment only 4-5 countries compete good against each other... You can count 5 more but only 10 countries playing this sports is a very less number. Yes there are other countries but they are no way near the level of top teams. Cricket must be promoted all around the world and board like bcci must with help of icc should do that.

At at this point, the ICC president (N Srinivasan) explicitly stated that they are not interested in Olympic inclusion.

Yes there is no authentic and official update that any thing has been done towards it and I dont see cricket getting included in olympics for atleast 10 years. ICC or BCCI or any other cricket board around the world is not looking interested towards this. It is far away before that much more countries need to playing cricket.

I do agree with you there is no point in discussing cricket and Olympics. Cricket is not going in Olympics for at-least next 10 to 15 years (case closed).

Meanwhile Virat Kohli at press conference on Wednesday said, I was informed about my removal as ODI captain just one-and-a-half hours before the selection of squad for South Africa. (source)

He also told that he himself resigned from T20 captaincy.

Olympics has its own parameters for every game. See football, I think players up to age 25 years are allowed to played in olympics that's why Brazil has only won 2 gold medal so far. If cricket goes there then same filters may be applied to it also. Dont expect same squads will be playing there.

Rohit Sharma is already named as Indian T20 captain. Under his captaincy India played recent T20 series againest NZ.

Of course we need to see cricket in Olympics, it will be good for cricket. There are only 10 test playing countries right now, performance of SL, WI and Bangladesh is very much down. If we have more teams then pool of strong teams will increase and we can see some quality cricket all over the year. IMO big-3 are not in favor of more nations to join in.

What other topics you want on this thread other than cricket. Mind it , it is a cricket discussion thread and therefore you can only discuss about cricket here. For other games and topics you need to write in the respective threads.

Yeah, It's been unfortunate to postpone the series to June 2022. Pakistan was in great form and they would have wanted to whitewash the ODI series too but now they have to wait another six months to celebrate the ODI wash white.

Depends. Being a cricket fan, I would like cricket to become more popular. For that inclusion in Olympics is a must, because it is the grandest sporting event in the planet. Also, many of the countries allocate monetary grants to sports only if they are included in the Olympic Games. Nowadays, the ICC has also cut down the number of teams participating in world cup to just 10. I don't even want to call a ten-team tournament as "World Cup". Even for the Kabaddi world cup, we have more number of participants.

That's because too many associate teams takes level of cricket too low. There are only 5 to 6 countries that have good cricket team rest of countries have very weak teams. See Oman, Scotland and Namibia teams in last T20 WC, they have too low level of cricket teams.
