There are several countries which have been trying for a long time to improve their cricket but they are not able to do so. But Afghanistan is a cricket team that has improved so much in a short period of time even the big countries have started thinking of them as a big opponent. Both their batting and bowling have been able to make a significant difference. Now they are lagging behind only for experience but in a few more years they will improve from that position and become known as another cricketing powerhouse country.

There is no doubt that Afghanistan is perhaps the team that has shown the maximum improvement in the last 10 years or so. ICC stresses a lot on gender equality and for cricket to qualify as an Olympic sport, they need to show that the sport is being played equally among the men as well as the women. Asian boards such as the BCCI and PCB may tolerate this issue, but as we have seen CA has already raised this on the big stage. ECB and CNZ may follow soon. And it will have negative repercussions for the Afghan cricket board.

These are tactics played by the economically wealthy boards. For now they need some thing to be executed. To deviate the concentration, this subject have been taken as discussion subject. If playing cricket by women is prohibited in Islam, then how come Pakistan and Bangladesh are having women's teams? It is up to the Afghanistan cricket board to decide whether they want to allow this sport among the women or not. But if they doesn't allow the women to play cricket then in the end they will lose out. Because women's cricket has grown leaps and bounds during the past few years and the future trajectory also looks bright. Although it is not going to rival the men's game, in the next 5-10 years women's cricket will bring hundreds of millions of USD in revenue all over the world. If the Taliban doesn't want a share of that, then I am fine with their decision.

Afghanistan is facing basic human rights violations as they are depriving women from their basic rights of living and education,  their freedom of speech thier existence.  This is not Islam what Talibans are doing this is brutality  and injustice.  I don't think Islam is stopping someone from playing cricket  but the discussion is in Afghanistan they are not letting women to stand in any field of life   hoe can they let them play cricket?

It is right that we should discuss about cricket no race or religion should be discussed. After a long war, Taliban rule has been re-established in Afghanistan. Whatever they say should be done in that country. According to this fact we cannot think of the entire Muslim country in the same way. Even in Bangladesh and Pakistan now women play cricket without any hindrance in their country's government. Moreover, there is no rule of killing people oppressively in the Muslim religion, but the Taliban government did so at one time. So it would be their internal problem.

@BobK71, Afghanistan has some really good talent. The biggest problem for them is they are not very stable in terms of politics. Anything can happen in this country. And of that instability, Afghanistan is not being able to improve in cricket as much as the probably could.

@Sithara007, Personally, I think that it will be better if Afghanistan concentrates on improving the men's team. Because that is going to be the main target for any country. The way Afghanistan is improving in men's cricket I think they can so be a team that will compete against the biggest power in cricket. The ICC has raised a concern regarding women's cricket in Afghanistan. As of now, Afghanistan is the only test nation without a women's team. ICC only cares about the top four or five. They do not care about the teams which are below in the rankings like 7, 8, or 9. And we also know that ICC only cares about money. And that is a big reason why they do not follow their own rules.

It's been months US troops has left Afghanistan and it happened back in Sep 2022. Most of the Afghan were happy having US goverment there.
Afghan dont promote women education and woman playing cricket - which is a problem and now Aussie refused playing with them. But it wont change the decision of Taliban.

Anyone following the ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup? 5 associate teams are taking part, including United States (automatic qualification), Indonesia, Rwanda, Scotland and United Arab Emirates. Out of these 5 teams, two are 100% comprised of either Indian citizens or players of Indian origin. However the encouraging fact is that other three teams were fielding 100% native players. Indonesia and Rwanda are playing the world cup for the first time, and they performed decently in their respective first matches with native players.
