Alonso did an impressive time.
Obviously he's a top driver, and he's not really competing against other top drivers there... but still, I'm really happy to see him back and doing well already. F1 needs more world-quality drivers, and he's an interesting character too, which the sport needs. The 2021 season will I suspect be another Mercedes procession. But 2022, when we have a rules reset and a system designed for closer, more exciting racing, with more dependent on driver skill than on the car... that should be something to really look forward to.

today at the same time as the test day, sky sport interviewed Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, the man who won everything with Todt and Schumacher's Ferrari. Montezemolo said he was ready to take command of Ferrari again as president, but that to date no one has contacted him to find out if he was interested. Ferrari needs a strong president who understands racing. Montezemolo could be the right person, but it should be remembered that in the days of the triumphs with Schumacher, Ferrari spent tens of millions on private tests, while today it is forbidden.

It's now official. Yuki Tsunoda will drive next year in the F1 for AlphaTauri.
Now let's wait till the official statement of Red Bull about Perez. I have read a lot of that it will be an announcement today/tomorrow.

I think probably the return of designer Rory Byrne that was agreed earlier this year is potentially the most important move for Ferrari, which could set them up well for success in 2022 (as that's the car Byrne is working on). Luca Cordero di Montezemolo may have won everything with Schumacher's Ferrari, but Byrne designed Schumacher's cars and won everything with Schumacher at both Ferrari and Benetton... if you want a genius designer to build a title-winning car, there are few better options out there... All seven of Schumacher’s title-winning cars were designed by Bryne. Out of which, two were won at Benetton in 1994 and 1995, and then five consecutive titles at Ferrari from 2000 to 2004. Bryne was part of Ferrari ‘dream team’ with Jean Todt, Ross Brawn, and Michael Schumacher in the hot seat. After all the success, Bryne announced his retirement [...] The restructuring will see the genius designer working with Enrico Cardile, primarily to work on the 2022 car. This is significant as the new F1 regulations kick in from that year. Ferrari would be hoping that Bryne works his magic yet again, and return them to the pinnacle of Formula One. https://thesportsrush.com/f1-news-rory-byrne-the-man-behind-all-of-michael-schumachers-title-winning-cars-at-benetton-and-ferrari/Ignore the misspelling in that quote, it's Byrne, not 'Bryne'!

Tsunoda had great his first season in F2 and I think he deserved F1 seat. Though, I will miss Kvyat a bit. Maybe he he isn't super talented and he got outscored by Gasly this season totally, but I think he is good enough for mediacore team. But when drivers like Hulkenberg don't have seat in F1, it shows how difficult to stay there, unless your father is billionaire like Stroll or Mazepin. Interesting where he will go, I read that he can become reserve/test driver. If Red Bull will sign Perez, we won't see Albon in F1 next season. His and Kvyat path in F1 looks very similar...

unfortunately I don't think it's that easy, Perez is definitely deserves to drive Red Bull next year, but signing him would mean admitting that the Red Bull youth program works badly, given that both Albon and Kvjat came from the youth program and take them out of the formula 1 would be half failure. Meanwhile Hamilton has not signed with Mercedes yet, you never know ...

Perez undoubtedly deserves the right to stay for next season, but if he is signed by red bull, verstappen's position as the number one driver will not be so firm. I am not sure that Perez will be content with the role of the number two driver in the team, at least the previous history of his performances suggests this. competition between pilots is undoubtedly useful for results, but in certain cases it can also interfere. Also, let's not forget that the co-owners of the team are from Thailand, as well as Albon.

That is one of the best if not the best calendar of all times in F1 with 23 races.Even the driver line up now is almost closed with only Mercedes and RedBull not confirming their line up.I am curious about RedBull as I don’t think Mercedes will be that stupid to let Hamilton go so the only real mystery for me is the second driver of Red Bull.

Red Bull need to confirm Albion. They need to keep their tradition of young drivers built on their Accademy. I have nothing wrong with Perez but they need to keep their philosophy or they can trash their academy, I will very disappointed if they call Sergio. He probably deserves it but meh.

today I saw the video message that Mclaren sent to Ferrari asking him to take care of Carlo Sainz. I have rarely seen such a beautiful and touching message, mechanics, engineers and even Lando Norris, speaking in Italian, wishing the best to their former driver. these are the things that bring the public closer to Formula 1

It's good to see young drivers coming through, but Albon has had a chance and hasn't really shown much. Perez is the better driver and should get the seat, particularly after the way he lost the last one.

Yes this is correct, 2 young driver has already the chance at RedBull as second driver between Verstappen. But no one are good enough to challenge him or bring enough points for the constructors championship. This year for RedBull are easy for the second place, but when Ferrari have a stronger engine the will also the second place.

Yup, I'm with you. RBR should give another guy from the junior team a chance. It's what they did with Vettel, it's what they did with Ricciardo, it's what they did with Verstappen. I wouldn't mind breaking the tradition if ever they get Vettel back tho.

Happy for Perez and his chance at Redbull. Disappointed by Redbull and his change of philosophy, they have the best drivers' academy do they really need this "old" driver? Maybe they want a benchmark finally to test Verstappen. Source: https://twitter.com/F1/status/1340002892292345857Missing only the final spot of Hamilton even if he 99% with Mercedes after what he said this afertnoon.

Helmut Marko wanted a thrill and a little spur Verstappen competition with the stubborn Mexican, as well as to show his students that the native academy is not an iron guarantee of performance in the championship It seems that if not for Hamilton's financial ambitions, the signing of the contract would have been announced long ago. It seems that Hamilton will moderate his financial appetites a little for the sake of the 8th Formula 1 title, especially since Toto Wolff remains for another 3 years, and from the outside it seems that Lewis is comfortable working with this team leader.
