If a guy wants to jump in mining and has free electricity, what do you guys recommend to strat with?
For start just 2 or 3 GPU.
Is it better to pay more and buy new RX 470/480 or used maybe 290 or 280x?
Here in my country used 290 can be found at 190EUR, used 280x at 140EUR, while new RX or even 390 is about 290EUR.
Looking forward hearing from you guys, cheers!

I would recommend R9 390. Price is significantly dropped but you still can sell them reasonably good on ebay afterwards

290/290x if you have free electricity ( expect 250w-350w at the wall while dual mining )
rx480 if you can get them cheap

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
280x ( 1175mhz core / 1700mhz mem ) hashes around 17mhs ETH + 500mhs SIA

290x ( 1125MHZ core / 1500MHz mem ) hashes around 31mhs ETH + 620mhs SIA

390 are similar to 290x, not worth the extra price

I don't get this dual mining, pls explain me this:
I can mine simontaniously ETH and SIA at same time? so for 280x you say I can get 17mh/ETH and 500mh/sia? What if I want to mine just ETH, will I gain some from non mining sia but just ETH (so instead 17 + 500 I get let say 20mh just on ETH)?

BTW - whats cheap for 480? is it 275EUR good price for it?

Why a R9 390 when it's similair price to RX 480??

1) Easy software-based overclock and control of temp, frequency etc
2) Stable double mining 30.2MHs (ETC/ETH) + 560MHs (SIA/DCR)
3) Easy to sell for 75% of initial price

No idea on European price - but in US it should ~$270 for custom Nitro with 8Gb

Mining SIA is less profitable than mining ETH, but Claymore figured out a way to compromise mining both at the same time.

You reduce your hashrate from 32MHs to 31MHs ETH, but gain 620MHs SIA. 1MHs reduction in ETH gives you 25% extra ETH once you sell the SIA.....so 31MHs+8MHs=39MHs instead of 32MHs.  ( assuming free electrivity and no heat problems )

You can calculate the profit on http://whattomine.com/merged_coins/2-eth-sc

To all requests: I will check them a bit later, don't want to postpone new version again and again.
Within 24 hours I will release v6.0 with nvidia support, temp/fan management for amd 4xx cards and "-ttli" option to reduce overall mining intensity when GPU is overheated.

Please read Readme and FAQ in the first post of this thread before asking any questions, probably the answer is already there.

Claymore's

What the name of this dual miner?

i want to recommend the dual mining ETH or ETC with SIA
This miner is best for the dual mining
If it can support Solo Mining with Parity 1.3.0
Maybe

ETC (solo) + SIA (pool)

It will maximize the profit

Question is one miner better than another when it comes to HAsh Rates?

I am trying to set this Claymore up but cant seem to get it squared (yes I have pagefile set to 25Gb min and 5Gb max)

Have used SGminer for X11 coins worked Fine
Cpu miner for X11 coins worked fine
Nicehash uses Genoil and it works fine but I want to keep my mined ETH not give away my power.

Any suggestions for ETH solo/pool mining or dual ETH mining with additional coin??

Thanks     Huh Huh

I feel as v5.3 version is not compatible with Parity v1.3.0 solo mining ?
It just return an error -32600 :

I have tested with ethminer (cpp version and genoil version), all working well.
I think, it is a problem with this miner
-or- maybe some kind of special option

Thanks for the continued hard work you put into this miner.  Looking forward to next release for my Rx 470.  Thanks again

No problem, as soon as someone can explain me how to make it work. Step by step: download link, how to start/configure, etc. Because I spent a lot of time and still don't have any ideas why it does not download blockchain though Mist wallet works on same system.

Nice results this.

Can you share power consumption and any undervolt/overclock settings?

Ah you want to merge-mine SIA at Suprnova.. Unfortunately the stratum protocol is not yet integrated into Claymore as far as I know, you can only mine ETC / DCR fully on Suprnova currently.

Will this be possible in the future by any chance?
