So what's the latest? Does KNCMiner look on track for September delivery?
Read the thread.

TLTR!

let's say there is a 50/50 chance they will deliver as promised. it is too early to come to a conclusion. they are very silent, so it seams the process is not under their control at the moment, could be they are waiting for the chips to arrive. there was a discussion somewhere about the posibility to produce 28nm chips for a small buisiness but I got the feeling it is not imposssible in general.

Thank you very much for the reply, there are still kind people around it seems. I'll send you a tip, just pm me your BTC address Wink

no problem! please keep your tip. information should be free in this forum here. keep me in a good mind. ;-)

What a geezer Gyrsur!

Edit: In case you're not you're not familiar with UK slang, that's a compliment. Grin

thank you! so nice people all around. is this really bitcointalk.org?  Grin

  • Day 1 doesn't actually mean the first day of shipping.
  • There are a lot of unpaid orders up to order number 1824.
  • Somehow KNCminer will be shipping almost 2000 x 4RU units in a single day....  Shocked

In reference to today's 100TH hash increase

http://blockchain.info/charts/hash-rate

I don't know how many orders were required to sell out KnC's September batch, but based on October stock, they would appear to have over 1 pentahash for sale.

according to KnC they have 650,400 GH/s (Jupiter), 342,800 GH/s (Saturn) and 162,400 GH/s (Mercury) to sell. in sum 1,155,600 GH/s or 1,156 TH/s. Wow!  Shocked

with the other producers 2,000+ TH/s Network could be possible by the end of the year.

Err hang on Jupiter is 400, Saturn is 200, and Mercury is 100 Gh/s.

We've already seen them reset these numbers once--they mean nothing. It's a limitation of the sales software they used. They set them to an arbitrary number then reset them when it wears out or w/e. It useful for companies with existing stock, not those taking orders to build.

every subtotal is incorrect anyways

6995 x 1626 = 11,373,870
3795 x 1714 =   6,504,630
1995 x 1624 =   3,239,880
1965 x 77 =         151,305
3500 x 48 =         168,000
3960 x 282 =     1,116,720
2400 x 195 =        468,000
2200 x 223 =        490,600
1400 x 171 =        239,400
 ----------------------------
                     $23,752,405   compared to 282 million....

Chuck Norris mines with his fists.  Plus he can still receive 50 coin rewards with a prolonged beard-rub.

On a serious note though; what's the latest on KNC's progress?

Does the October shipping date seem likely?

I hope they deliver on time. A one-two month delay from October mean people may never get back their ROI.

We have no reason to believe they won't hit their ship-date at this point. The only evidence we have that they will is their claim that they are on time with everything so far.

Yes that is true, but for that kind of project they are really quiet about their project schedule. (Yes, I know: "The competitors!" Wink )

They communicated only one concrete milestone
"Start of delivery: end of September (latest 30th September)"

(Tape-Out done "some time ago" does not count as a concrete milestone. What does "some time ago" mean? 2 minutes? Wink )

They stated several times that they are on track for the September target. But anything else until then will be a black box.
So you have to trust them and they have to trust several 3rd parties that they deliver on time.
There are some quite complex manufacturing steps (besides pure 28nm wafer manufacturing) which have to be first time right to meet the target, which are not completely under their control.

Does not feel really comfortable, but it is probably the only thing you will get until end of September.

Just seems a bit odd that they are going to start delivery in less than 2 months, but all they have on the site are a few sketchup drawings of what the box might look like.

Their products tick all the boxes and I'd love to get a hold of a Jupiter, but i think I'm going to wait until delivery starts and just be a bit behind.

When can we realistically expect to see a prototype running?

It seems like its time for a significant update from KnC to include a more definitive timeline with specific milestones -- the way difficulty is going, Sept. 1 is a lot different from Sept. 30.

I'm hoping KnC continues to set the bar high with regard to customer communication.
